WildBrain are still getting used to animating in this style. Do I need to remind you all of S1 (especially the pilot's) animation? Give them a break, let them cook/get used to it. It's just the trailer. The season itself will still be amazing, regardless of animation quality. The story is what matters.
ANYWAY LET'S DO SOME ACTUAL ANALYSIS HUH
monkie trio have a meeting with the Ten Kings?
This shot is just fucking rad
I don't remember your name but Hi NeZha's dad! You're at the Ten King meeting too?
NeZha's at the meeting too, MK seems excited about something
They fucking re-banded him I'm going to start biting
WHERE IS ANYONE GOING I'M ABOUT TO KILL
Who— why do these two have the two of the stones?
Is this DBK's old territory? The flaming mountain that was 100% Monkey King's fault?
Seems like NeZha might be helping the crew!
Prophecy?
Sandy moments! Yes please! Wonder what he's defending MK from? Is he just venting? Is MK getting therapy?
strange temple which gives them two of the rocks (the ones that were with the dragon(?) and the tiger) and is marked with a mural of the stones. It also emits a green/gold flash. Nüwa, that you?
Nine-Headed and Hundred-Eyed Demons! What's up you two? You have cool designs (esp hundred-eyed)
Monkie MK!!!!! why is he crying? what's with all the stones being with him alone????? NÜWA WHAT DID YOU DO
HARBINGER HARBINGER HARBINGER
what're you doing here, Nine-Headed? Also why are you the same color as Mo and Sandy—
RETURN OF THE RED!!!! DRAGONFRUIT SHIPPERS COME GET YOUR FOOD
I caved and drew fanart of one of my favourite shows while I wait for season 5.
Personally I really want a scene where Tang proves that he is NOT Tripitaka and is in fact, his own person, part of that being that he will fight for his friends. I also just want to see him snap and becoming super protective fuelled by the cicada powers.
I see a bit of a parallel between Tang and Peng, both being categorised as cowards, so I think a one-on-one fight between them would be interesting, especially if Tang gets cicada wings.
I like the idea that Peng would continue to try to run away but Tang just won't let him.
I watched the trailer and this was the first idea I got T -T I'm sorry, but I hate Li Jing's guts. Atlas may be canonically few months old, but he would be a better emperor that this pathetic excuse of a father :v
Also, technically, since Nezha made Atlas, is Li Jing his grandpa kinda? Not like that really matters, Atlas would be throwing hands anyway lol

One instance of wukong being taught about enduring pain through punishment, and two times where he attempted to use those teachings in the future
One, the circlet: as most of you know, the circlet had been gifted to Tripitaka by bodhesattva quanyin in order to quell wukong’s violent tendencies through putting the golden circlet around his head and inciting a sutra that caused it to tighten around wuking’s head, causing wukong to feel like his head was about to explode, and in one instance the circlet had actually tightened around his head for so long that wukong’s head looked like a gourd. Look up what a gourd is and you’ll quickly realize how painful that must’ve been for him.
Two: after the journey it had been explained somewhere, or at least hinted that wukong had hid himself away on flower fruit mountain for five hundred years, possibly after imprisoning dbk underneath a mountain. And wukong had felt so bad after doing so that he thought he would use one of the most important lesson his master had taught him isolating himself from the world, knowing that doing so would give him the most pain, since being a monkey means that he’s very social, so isolation seemed to be the most fitting punishment for him. Now did he do this intentionally or subconsciously? I’ll leave it up to interpretation.
Three: sat either during or after the journey, after wukong had accidentally let a piece of the samadhi fire escape and finding its way into ao lie. Five hundred years later in the present, wukong thought up a plan where he would have the samadhi fire that had passed on to mei from her great great a million times grandfather ao lie, and put it inside him during a ritual that would have sent the samadhi fire into him, leaving him to experience the same sheering pain that his longest brother had experienced. that has been theorized to have killed him. Something that would have left wukong feeling absolutely broken with guilt, knowing that his recklessness had made him lose one of his closest friends.
And unfortunately because of the actions of macaque (and by extension lbd) wukong had been too late to stop the samadhi fire to consume mei from the inside, the same thing that had happened to ao lie.
The thing to take from this is the circlet had unintentionally made wukong think that punishing himself by putting himself through extreme pain is the only way for him to ever have even the slightest chance of being forgiven. Even if said mistake wasn’t entirely his fault.
not to get into the controversy but i think it’s fine to love Flying Barks animation, be disappointed that the studio changed, AND still be nice to the new team. the pilot wasn’t amazing either, we should at least see the first episode before we start shunning the series.
obviously not everyone is this way but i’ve seen one too many people out for blood.
like, this seems like a lore filled interesting season and i’m sure it’s going to be just as captivating story wise considering the writers didn’t change (to my knowledge.)
let’s not get the show cancelled before its even out-
