This face is just so raw. Those who are cursing and hating on sun wukong over the recent season 3 finale need to recognize that this guy wasn't acting out of selfishness or looking to sacrifice anyone. I think it's clear he doesn't actually know what he's doing with the LBD and training MK, but it's on his shoulders to take down the witch or lose MK and the world. His "vacation" and this trip to collect the rings were a desperate course of action to take her down, even if it leaves him battered and kills him. He clearly loves MK and is looking to protect him and his group, and you can bet he had the best intentions by keeping the Mei secret, but unfortunately, things got out of hand. And now keep in mind that he is now racing to fight LBD by himself, despite being weakened and definitely scared. But he's rattled, MK literally rushed into death-inducing fire not two minutes previously and he just now seeing how his teaching method was pretty much trauma and physical injury-inducing. Like he said, he won't drag the kid into any more of his fights, even though he has no chance of victory now. He made a bad call, but he was doing his best. Keep in mind, despite the tension and conflict with Nedzu, the guy is still rushing to stop him from being hurt and captured by a crazy demon witch. So, try to not jump into the Hate Sun Wukong crowd, please.

Ok, ok hear me out. I'm calling this like, the Tethered AU or something
But like, so Macaque had all those chains on him from LBD right?
And SWK was basically stuffed full of her power.
So like, accidental side effect unintended consequence, (shhhh, yes I know they both got free and we saw her power break/ be driven out and all that), but after the fight, something something, not sure what yet, and the two dumb monkeys are being all emotinal and fighting and Macaque goes to storm off again and SWK is like, No. No you're not leaving me again, and like, golden chains shoot out of him and drag Macaque back.
And they both kinda sit there and blink for a sec before they both panic, but neither of them can turn it off. Because SWK has attachment issues and wants someone who will stay, and shadow boy is tired of running but doesn't know how to stop and now he doesn't have a choice, and both of them have unaddressed trauma and this is not the way to deal with it but also, it's working so they don't want to stop it
The chains and stuff aren't visible unless like, one of them is pulling on them. Mac to try and get out of the range SWK unconsciously sets, in which case he gets yanked back, and SWK when he isn't fully in control, (like half asleep or overly emotional) and he basically drags Mac from wherever back to him. (sometimes through Mac's shadows if he's far enough away)
And it's like, both fluffy and fucked up cause like, you get moments when SWK is half asleep and touch starved monkey is dragging Mac across the room to come cuddle with him and Mac is like, seriously? bus secretly also wants to cuddle because touch starved but also literally doesn't have a choice? Because he can't actually fight off the chains.
And like, both monkeys are getting better, but it's in a very messed up way and Mac's whole redemption is based off of forced proximity to the Crew because SWK has him under a max limit of how far he can get, which changes all the time based on how mentally ok said monkey is at any given time, and getting pulled about is painful and it's better to just stay close. (And he kinda wants to hang out with the other's but he can't say that, cause Trauma™️ so now he has an excuse)

‘Introducing the son-in-law’ (traductor)
Remembering that Red Son's parents freed LBD. When Mei introduces Red to her parents. 🤣🤣🤣
I don't think they're happy to have him with her daughter.😂😂 (but everything in the range of overprotective parents)
Or at least until proven otherwise.😅😅😅😅

Okay get ready for a Monkie Kid headcanon/theory y’all cause I’ve been ruminating
More below the cut, for those who still haven’t seen the season 3 special episodes
OKAY so basically this evolves around the white void LBD confronts MK in after the ultimate climax
Tumblr media
And I think my biggest question coming from this scene (or at least the one came first to the forefront of my mind) was, where does this take place?? Clearly, MK is operating the Monkey Mech and LBD is at the business end of the super-sized staff, so how is this all taking place?
And it has finally occurred to me that this is more than likely taking place in MK’s only mindscape.
Why?
Because we know LBD has more or less possessed MK, as shown in their first meeting:
Tumblr media
And during multiple pursuant instances where their paths cross (can’t for the life of me find enough screenshots/examples, so feel free to recall any and all moments where LBD messes with MK’s head)
So, with this information, I rest my very short-lived case that because LBD’s reign of terror is coming to a (permanent) end, so too is her residence in MK’s psyche, and thus why in this final scene it’s her and him alone.
*jazz hands*

Okay guys listen listen
Look as much as I LOVED when LBD possessed Sun Wukong my brain has been on hyperdrive with one specific what if scenario:
What if Wukong DID actually get the Samadhi Fire????
Like dudes. Dudettes. Guys. Gals. Think about it.
He would. Be so much more op with that shit. Not to mention the angst potential???? I've been drawing and thinking up concepts with this idea that's been implanted in my brain and I can't stop.
I will remind you that I fucking aDORE Possessed!Wukong. But I also am obsessed with Samadhi Fire Wukong as well
would anyone want to see this concept/the things ive drawn I have so many Wukong's to share but. scared HDHDHD

Spoilers for S4 of Lego Monkie Kid (and S3 spoilers but chances are you've already seen it if you're seeing this post)
By far my favorite part of S4 is how Nezha didn't just drop off the face of the Earth. I was a little worried he wouldn't have that big of an appearance but I was pleasantly surprised when he actually had a presence, and even managed to hold his own in a fight against the main villain, a fight he wasn't even allowed in S3.
Like I know he still loses, but the fact that he wasn't given the one-punch chump treatment and allowed to stand his own in the fight, even making it out of the fight and being able to continue holding an active role and not just being tossed out of the story before being dragged back in at the end, is pretty neat.
At first I thought it was also nice that he played a more active role in this season until I realized he actually played less of an active role, it's just that he seemed to have an actual solid presence throughout more of the season than in S3.
Cause in S3 at first it seemed like he was more on the sidelines than actively contributing. But then I started recalling all the ways he played a role in the plot, like how he helped in the final fight with LBD with the giant fire rings, and he gave MK emotional support that wasn't just "you got this" and was actually "you got this, you matter, you're needed, and I can prove it damnit".
He also played a role before the S3 special, though for the parts of the season he showed up in it was more of an antagonistic/roadblocky one, what with him trying to prevent the Samadhi Fire from being reforged which was the literal main goal of the main characters. He did help towards the end though, for example by helping Wukong escape from the ice they were trapped in and by taking MK to where Wukong was fighting LBD after Monkey King sped off into the sunset.
But yeah, while Nezha wasn't as active in S4 as he was in S3, he also kept up a presence in it, whether it be direct mention by name, an appearance in the background, or actually showing up himself.
He should still get a win that's really his own, or at least scenes where he isn't fighting someone or having to deal with the latest threat and is actually just having a good time. Especially since he was first introduced at a time when the show was already delving into heavier stuff and we started seeing less sunshine and rainbows, and literally his entire role thus far has been "I have a morally upright job to do *proceeds to be prevented from doing their job properly, much to their frustration*".
Like literally we need an episode that's just him getting a day off. Although honestly this applies to basically all the characters, I'm referencing Nezha specifically because the closest we've seen to him getting one of those was after the battle with LBD when they were all eating noodles. And even then the most we saw of him in that scene was like a 5 second line and his face crammed into a 10x10 radius of pixels in the background.
Hopefully we get something like that if there's a season 5. Maybe if we do get a fifth season it could focus on the characters moving on from the trauma of past seasons. Though right now I'm content to just have fun with the seasons we have. The team behind Lego Monkie Kid have worked hard on the series as we have it right now, and I wanna appreciate that.
TL;DR: Basically my favorite part of S4 was the fact that Nezha was in it. I used that as an excuse to ramble about his role in S4 as compared to S3 in this post, and about my hopes for his treatment in future seasons (if we get any).
I mean can you blame me? He's my favorite character after all.
