The thing driving me so insane about Loid and Yor communicating so openly is that this is how a couple in an actual relationship would address the problems they're having
Tumblr media
She's asking him to rely on her, saying that he doesn't need to put up appearances all the time, that she knows he's capable but she's here to help and wants to, that he doesn't need to be perfect.
They're in a fake marriage. Loid has repeatedly told her she doesn't have to do anything but be around for specific events, but Yor still genuinely took up the role of Anya's mom and has been actively working to be a good mother to her fake husband's daughter this entire time, and now she's gently pushing back on Loid about not helping him either.
They aren't in love yet, or at least aren't aware of any developing feelings, but Yor is still reaching out to Loid in a way that someone in a real committed relationship would to their partner. She doesn't need to!! She's completely in her right to not help him, to not care!! He has given her the explicit permission of it multiple times!! But she cares about him, Anya, and Bond, this little family they've created. She wants him to lean on her like she does on him

Yo! I was going through one of my writing prompt doc (Which is a google doc that I fill usually with random au/writing ideas, and one-shots I start) And found the first written down idea I had for my Two of a Kind Trolls AU! I completely forgot I'd written something down in there for it!
Check it out!
The gray troll, and his colorful little shadow - Before the events of the first movie, Branch saves a lost Keith from being killed by a predator. Branch then takes him safely back home, telling him to be more careful next time. Keith decides that he wants to get him something as a thank you, but as he starts asking other trolls, he learns no one knows anything about the gray recluse. So, Keith starts secretly following Branch around, trying to learn what Branch likes. He then leaves a thank you present by the door to Branches buncher, confusing the shit out of Branch.
Not much, but omg! I completely forgot that was how Keith originally started following Branch around!
I also completely forgot that was what I was thinking of calling the AU 😅 Kinda like Two of a Kind better. Maybe if I actually write a one-shot...

snippet of a fic, might post on ao3 idk
the tall brooding figure has his back against the headboard of the bed. you lean against his chest, watching the tv in front of you. your baby bump much more visible now. you balance a bowl of popcorn on your bulbous belly. his hand reaching from behind you to stuff some of the popcorn into his mouth. sometimes his chest would vibrate from his chuckles, watching interesting scenes from the show playing in front of him.
when you’d attempt to get down from the bed to use the restroom or drink some water, he’s quick to take the bowl away from you, mouth still chewing on some of the buttered snack.
“i gotchu, sweetheart,” he says, helping you balance yourself back up. you mutter a thanks to him, saying you have to use the restroom. and he trusts that you’re able to go alone bc you insisted.
when you’re back he returns his focus to you. attention away from the screen. he has his arms open, an invitation to lay against him again. you happily obliged and he’s humming in delight once you’re back in his arms, his chin resting on your shoulder. he places a quick peck on the skin of your shoulder, then trailing towards your neck. he gives one final kiss beneath your ear before whispering a single “i love you.” as his hands snake over your waist and onto your protruding belly to give it some comforting rubs, acknowledging the baby’s presence. he leans forward over your shoulder to look down your belly and speaks to it: “i love you too, little baby.” and gives one soothing rub. it makes you giggle and he smiles, before finally kissing your cheek, and then his eyes are back on the flashing screen of the tv.

I... I see you ask box says writing prompts too? Could I maybe if you feel like writing it ever request a scene of healthcare au Hyrule getting a hug? Or on break? Or having a day off? Whether its because he's sick or something really bad happened or if its just a good day and his friends just love him or whatever is up to you.
(@ludoluck @keestones @paradoxical-hermitcrab @artisticgamer)
Have all the Hyrule fuff and hurt/comfort, sweetheart. <3
The tones dropped, making Hyrule jump out of his skin. He bolted up in bed, flinging the blanket off him when he saw Mo stretching lazily and looking at his watch.
"It's shift change, Roolie," Mo said sleepily. "Not our call anymore."
Hyrule blinked once, twice, and then it sank in. He sighed in relief, falling back to his pillow. Thank goodness.
He had two whole days off now. And he wasn't entirely sure what to do with them, but he would definitely figure something out.
Hopping out of bed and throwing the linens into the laundry bin, he opted for having a nice warm shower and he'd start figuring out what to do from there. As the water ran over him, he remembered that he'd told Legend he'd stop by his place to hang out for a bit. Legend was a night shifter, so he was likely asleep right now, which meant Hyrule could spend the morning hiking on the mountain trails outside of town.
As Hyrule biked away from the station, he giggled, letting the morning breeze wake him up. He felt so alive letting gravity push him down a gigantic hill that he laughed the entire way to the bottom. The smell of his favorite bakery wafted in the air, and he parked his bike outside the shop and strolled in.
"Good morning, Pita," Hyrule greeted with a smile.
Pita turned, her brown eyes brightening. "Oh, hello, Hyrule! We haven't seen you all week, I was getting worried!"
Hyrule rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I had picked up a few extra shits and this bakery isn't in our first due."
Pita put her hands on her hips with a humph. "Well, it should be, and you shouldn't be working so hard. Now, you want the usual?"
Hyrule nodded eagerly, and then he turned to find a table when he saw a familiar face.
"Four?" he asked, prompting the person in question to look up. It was Four, snuggled warmly in a slightly oversized tie dye hoodie with a book propped open beside some scones and tea.
The ICU nurse smiled warmly. "Hey, Hyrule! What are you doing here?"
"I come here on my days off because they've got the best bread in town," Hyrule answered, walking over to his friend's table. "You?"
Four moved a newspaper from the other side of the table, giving Hyrule space. "I come here every day that I can. It's a nice little morning routine when I have mornings to spare."
Hyrule hesitated. "Oh, I--I don't want to interrupt your morning routine--"
"Roolie, sit down," Four said exasperatedly with a good-natured roll of his eyes. "It's nice to see you not wearing a duty uniform once in a while."
"Yeah," Hyrule laughed a little. "I get that a lot. I guess maybe I should try to take some more time off."
Four watched him almost pleadingly. "Please do."
Moving past that subject, the paramedic asked, "What are you reading?"
Four immediately brightened, and dove into a full narrative of the story, which was about a group of heroes trying to destroy a cursed magical item. Hyrule was so enthralled by the story that he didn't realize how much time passed until his phone started buzzing.
Hyrule! Where the hell are you, you dope don't tell me you picked up another damn shift!
Hyrule read the text on his home page, and without even having to look at the sender he laughed. Legend had apparently woken up early.
Four and Hyrule parted ways, and after about a half hour's bike ride, Hyrule arrived at Legend's apartment. His friend met him outside, stretching and yawning.
"Rav's on the warpath and I didn't want you to get dragged into it," Legend remarked at seeing Hyrule's questioning look.
"About what?"
The travel nurse shrugged. "Probably because I hid his stuff. But that's what he gets for selling mine."
Hyrule laughed and then stopped himself, embarrassed. He wasn't sure Legend found it a laughing matter, but the pair was entertainingly chaotic. It was almost as bad as watching Legend and Warriors go at each other, or Warriors and Twilight.
"So where are we going?" Hyrule asked.
Legend pulled up the map on his phone. "Well, last century when you had a day off, we went to Beedle's to check out his wares... oh wait, I just remembered--I saw this place and thought we should check it out!"
Hyrule walked over to look at where Legend was pointing. "Misery Mire? What's that?"
"It's an escape room!" Legend answered. "I bet they got some great prizes if we can crack it."
Hyrule smiled in excitement. He loved solving puzzles with Legend. "Let's go!"
XXX
Hyrule had known the code was rough. But it hadn't been his first code. It hadn't been the first time a patient had died and he hadn't gotten them back. He'd known it would make him feel a little tired for a day or so and then he'd move on. That's how it worked. He had to move on.
He hadn't expected this one to linger.
He'd thought he was fine. Truly, he did. Until he'd happened to look at an X-ray of some random patient in the emergency department, glancing at it over Warriors' shoulder as he babbled about something to Legend, and then suddenly Hyrule felt the grandmother's ribs breaking under his hands all over again as if he were in his ambulance doing compressions, the grandson sobbing outside his truck.
And then he'd realized that maybe he wasn't okay.
So here he was, sitting at Telma's Bar and sipping some milk and just... existing. He didn't really know how to address the issue. He'd gone over the code multiple times, and he knew that he'd done what he could. He didn't understand why this one in particular hit so hard.
Maybe it was that he had told the grandson he was going to be okay. Maybe it was that he had told the grandson he would take good care of his grandmother.
It wasn't like he hadn't, he couldn't help that she'd died. Her blood pressure was better when he was doing chest compressions on her than when she had been alive! He'd obviously done what he could.
So why is this bothering me so much?!
Sky would say he should go to church and pray about it. That's what Sky did a lot. But Hyrule didn't really know what he was supposed to pray about or say about it. So he just sat here instead.
"Hyrule?"
Hyrule nearly jumped out of his skin, and he turned sharply to see Twilight.
"Hey, buddy, what's wrong?" Twi asked gently, cocking his head to the side. Apparently it was obvious that Hyrule wasn't feeling great.
And something about Twilight's tone of voice just set him off.
Hyrule immediately felt his eyes start to water, his throat tightened, and his entire body trembled. He bit his tongue, hoping the pain would make the reaction recede, but it didn't really help. He couldn't eve choke out any words at this point. Crap.
Twilight watched him a moment longer before approaching and carefully encircling his arms around the medic in a gentle hug. Hyrule melted into it, crying softly into Twi's shirt, gripping it and shaking like a leaf.
He couldn't put what was wrong into words, but he didn't have to. Twilight just held him, rubbing a reassuring hand up and down his back. And somehow that was enough, allowing the young medic to just let himself go.

FFXIV Write 2023 | Prompt #9: Fair
warning: extreme fluff.
-1600 words
----
“Ellie, you uh… You really don’t have to prove anything, you know.”
“No, no, it’s not about proving anything. I swear. I just really think I’ve got this.”
“It’s definitely about proving something.”
Ellie tries to focus her vision, tries to ignore the giggling Gaia’s remark provoked from Ryne. Tries to level the implement in her hands carefully, tries to point the barrel precisely on her target. This can’t be that difficult, right? She’s seen plenty of her fellow adventurers use such a weapon against myriad enemies in her career. What more could there be to it than ‘point and pull trigger’? It’s gotta be easier than shooting an arrow, at any rate. Mia let her try that once with one of her spare bows, and the welts she received as a result—one on her finger, one on her cheek, from somehow accidentally snapping the bowstring—still smart.
She exhales, pushes all else from her mind, and pulls the trigger.
…and one of the bottles, to the left of the one she was actually aiming at, is blasted out from the bottom of the stack—and the rest of the bottles remain in a mostly triangular pyramid. Mostly, because one of her previous shots had at least knocked off the one on the very top, but minus those two, the eight bottles stand tall. Mocking her.
“What in the damn hells,” she groans as she lowers the rifle. “You’ve got to be magicking it in place.”
“You know full well I don’t have command of magicks,” Cerigg says, a wide smirk across his face as he pulls up another rifle from under the counter and takes the spent one from Ellie’s hand.
“No, but your charge does. You definitely put him up to this.”
“No one likes sour grapes, Ellie.” He clicks his tongue and holds out the new one. “Again?”
Before Ellie can reach for her wallet, another hand—perfectly manicured with black nail polish, skin smooth and soft, emerging from the end of an oversized black sleeve—plucks the rifle from Cerigg’s grasp, and Gaia sets it by her face, squints out of one eye, sticks her tongue out as she focuses, and then pulls the trigger with no further delay. The bottle in the precise center of the bottom row shatters into pieces, and with that foundational support removed, the remaining bottles give way and collapse, clattering and rolling across the table to clink against other spare bottles or straight over the edge onto the rug.
Ellie blinks. Cerigg gawks. Ryne makes a little noise that sounds somewhat like a confused ‘yay?’
“There you go.” Gaia digs somewhere into her enormous coat and pulls out her own money pouch from a mysteriously-invisible pocket, withdraws a single coin from it, and flips it at Cerigg’s face; he says “oh!” and jerks back just quickly enough to catch it in his open palm. “Could we have the, er… what did you say its name was?”
“Oh.” Ryne giggles and beams at Gaia, and Ellie’s confusion and slight indignation easily melt away. “The paissa, if you please.”
“Thank you, Ryne—wicked white, that’s been sitting there for bells…”
“That thing?” Gaia raises an eyebrow at her. “You really want that staring at you from your nightstand as you’re trying to sleep?”
“Keeps the spirits away!” Gaia stares, and Ellie’s sure she’s wondering if her partner has completely lost her marbles. “Or mischievous pixies, at least. They’re more scared of it than you are.”
“Huh? Why?”
“I think they mistake them for beavers.”
“…For beavers.”
Ellie shudders. “Honestly, if you’ve seen what I’ve seen, you’d be just as frightened of ‘em.”
Gaia just raises an extremely skeptical eyebrow at her, but she sighs and takes the plush doll Cerigg hands over regardless. “I’m not sure I see the resemblance, but if you say so.”
“Just trust me.” Ellie smiles and shrugs sheepishly at Cerigg. “Thanks, Cerigg. Good seeing you.”
“You too, Ellie. Say hi to Lilyana for me.”
“Will do.” Her pride thoroughly in shambles, she leaves the pieces of it at Cerigg’s booth and moves on down the fairway beside Ryne and Gaia, the former of whom is now deforming the paissa plush within her fierce embrace. “Oh, it’s so round and squishy.”
“Are they like that in real life, as well?” Gaia frowns and glances up at Ellie. “Do they exist in real life?”
“I’ve seen them on the Source; not sure about here. They’re very round, yes; squishy, I’m less sure. I didn’t particularly want to tangle with the ones I saw in passing.”
“A face like that, I can’t blame you,” Gaia mutters. “It’s definitely going to come to life and eat us while we sleep.”
“Mm, I’m pretty confident we can fight it off if that happens,” Ryne hums. “We’re strong enough.”
If anything, Ellie muses, that’s an understatement. She lets her gaze wander, taking in the the relaxed atmosphere of the Crystalline Mean and the pockets of activity around them; crowds milling up and down the fairway, children chasing each other through grownups’ legs and artisans of various trades hawking their wares as well-to-do folks walked by. Tents and booths in all colors of the spectrum, some housing those artisans and some hosting games of skill or luck like Cerigg’s bottle-shooting. The sky above is dotted only occasionally with clouds of white fluff… vastly preferable to the ominously humming golden waves of the primordial Light, in Ellie's opinion.
Ryne’s festival wouldn’t be this successful if Ryne and Gaia and all their friends weren’t so strong themselves. It’s yet another example of the incredible resilience of the peoples of the First, and Ellie never gets tired of seeing them seize the opportunity to take it easy and have fun.
“Huh?” Ryne stops short and stares at one booth in particular. “Wait, that’s strange… Why would that…” She shoots a confused glance up at Ellie. “Ellie? Do you know what that’s about?”
Ellie breaks from her reverie and follows her gaze to the baker’s stand; when she sees the large basket practically overflowing with a particular type of cookie, with a handwritten sign displayed proudly above the basket’s handle proclaiming COFFEE BISCUITS HANDMADE BY one of THE WARRIORs OF DARKNESS, she can’t help but chuckle in amusement. It’s the particular capitalization that makes it, really. “They mean Lily, not me. I did deliver them to Moyce, though.”
Gaia’s expression softens for a split-second, but she rearranges it into her usual stoic aloofness as soon as Ellie glances at her. “She really made that many? There must be dozens in there.”
“I’m pretty sure it was something like three hundred, in total. She blocked off the kitchen in our base for a whole afternoon to bake them all.”
Ryne gawks a little. “I mean, I’m certainly not complaining, but why so many?”
Because I need to facilitate as many dates as possible for the two of them, Lily had said smugly when Ellie had asked the same thing. She stifles another chuckle when she thinks about the way Lily’s ears might droop when she learns that the treats are being sold at the fair instead of reserved exclusively for Ryne and Gaia’s dates. Out loud, she shrugs and says, “Not sure, but the Mean paid out really well for them.”
“I didn’t know Lily was such an accomplished culinarian,” Gaia murmurs, “but that makes much more sense than you making something they’d be proud of selling.”
“Gaia!”
“No, no, she’s right. There are several reasons Lily banned me from the kitchen for that time period.” Ellie lets the stifled chuckle free. “Anyway, are you getting any or what? I’ll cover ‘em.”
“Surprised you have any gil left, after that display with Cerigg.”
Ellie nudges Gaia’s shoulder with her elbow, in mock indignation and with a wide grin. “I’d be a pretty sad adventurer if that was enough to drain my savings.”
“You take those kinds of shooting skills into an actual combat situation, you’ll be a pretty dead adventurer.”
“Sheesh, kick the fresh corpse of my pride a little more, why don’t you.”
“To be fair,” Ryne says through muffled chewing, and Ellie blinks as she happily presents Gaia with half of one such biscuit, “Ellie is very much a frontline combatant. It’s reasonable for her long-range capabilities to not be up to snuff.”
“You too?” Ellie shakes her head, bemused, as Gaia plucks the coffee biscuit from Ryne’s hand and takes a gentle bite out of it—without complaint, without begrudgement, and with the tiniest of soft smiles. “She’s really rubbing off on you. Also—”
“Don’t even think about it,” the baker says behind the display case, throwing a toothy grin in Ellie’s direction. She’s a tall elf woman that reminds Ellie of one of her adventurer friends, back in the Source. “It’d be very silly to charge a Warrior of Darkness for the treats her fellow Warrior of Darkness so kindly made for us.”
“Aw, c’mon. How am I supposed to support the budding Crystarium economy?”
“I think ‘tis fair to say you have done so by saving the world.”
Ellie rolls her eyes. “Don’t see how those are remotely related.”
Watching Ryne and the kind baker break into amused giggles, and the way Gaia’s eyes light up with warmth as they settle on Ryne’s delight, Ellie finds herself hoping they’ll have the opportunity to put on many more such festivals as these. She could get used to doing this as a yearly thing, she thinks.
And gods, does the First… and Ryne and Gaia… deserve this sort of peace and more.
