Legend Gets What (He Thought) He Wanted
tags/warnings:
Threats of Violence, no y/n, Reader-Insert, Mention of making murder look like suicide, no one actually wants to die so don't worry, The others are there briefly, reader gender not specified, Kinda death threats but not exactly, Legend Needs a Hug, Reader Also Needs a Hug, They both get one tho don't worry, Resolved ending, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Angst with a Happy Ending
Summary: Legend is convinced that modern!reader is a traitor and a danger to the chain. He wants to get rid of the threat...Reader just really wanted to use the bathroom, but they somehow end up at sword point.
You all sat by the campfire after yet another long day of long walks punctuated by not long breaks and long fights. You were exhausted, from both the physical toll taken by the day as well as from dealing with Legend’s near constant attempts to make everyone hate you. Heck, you were almost starting to hate yourself because of him. You had to forcibly remind yourself that he’s likely only lashing out because your knowledge of everyone’s adventures probably made him feel vulnerable. You yawned and turned your focus to other things.
Your mind relaxed as you looked around. Your head was leaned to the right on Wild’s shoulder, and Hyrule sat curled up in front of you with his head in your lap. Wind had finally tired of regaling the chain with yet another tall tale, and thus had retired to intently watching Sky as he worked on a new carving. Twilight, Time, and Warriors were conversing in a relaxed manner, laughing at stories of Time’s shenanigans in the War of Eras as “Mask.” They told some embarrassing stories, and Time held a near perpetual blush in his ears and a fake annoyed expression thinly veiling his amusement. Four was quietly polishing his various weapons, making sure they were well-maintained for any future skirmishes. And finally, there was the chain’s resident salt shaker, the Veteran. Legend sat a few feet to your left, not-so-subtly eyeing you with jealousy and what you might label “loathing,” probably because Hyrule had chosen you as his pillow instead of his predecessor. He pretended to sort through his myriad of magical jewelry, but you knew better. You also knew better than to call him out at the moment.
Everyone (mostly) was at peace, full from a good supper provided by Wild, happy from the stories Wind had told, and now content to do as they pleased until it was time for the first watch to start. By your guess, each of the three watches lasted three hours, 9 PM - 12 AM, 12 AM - 3 AM, and 3AM - 6 AM, or just after sunrise, depending on the season. It was about 8:30, and your eyes had been drooping for an hour already. You let your mind wander as you stared into the fire, pondering where the tips of the flames disappeared to as they peaked and vanished, dipping back to the firewood just to jump up once more a second later.
All too soon Wild was nudging you and Rulie back to your own bedrolls as Sky set up for his watch period. You hazily recalled meaning to clean the mud and blood off your shoes as you took them off, but decided to just do it in the morning before you all set off again. It’s not like the stains were going anywhere while you slept. You were out almost as soon as you pulled up your blanket to your chin. You didn’t even hear Wild’s small chuckle as he tucked you in before he walked away to his own sleeping spot.
Your faint dreams of red eyes haunting the dark corners of endless mazes were interrupted by a twig snapping by your face. You inhaled sharply as your eyes flew open to assess the situation, but relaxed once you saw that it was just Sky going to wake Legend up for his shift on watch. He glanced down to you and offered a sleepy smile of apology, which you returned in kind, before nuzzling deeper into your pillow (which was unfortunately rather thin and small, but you figured that even if you had brought a full-size memory foam pillow from home, it wouldn’t stand a chance of fitting into your bag, no matter how enhanced it might be).
You faintly heard the Vet bemoan his fate as second watchman before his blanket rustled and he walked to the fire. You’re pretty sure he intentionally stepped on the same twig as Sky had when he passed by you, but you didn’t give him the satisfaction of a flinch. Through half-lidded eyes you could vaguely see the grouch circle the camp before sitting on a log before the fire and facing the woods that surrounded your camp. He was even more grumpy tonight, because not only was he designated for the worst shift ever, but he didn’t even have a choice as Time forced it upon him due to a particularly scathing remark he’d made towards you earlier in the day.
You tried not to focus on his insults and apparent hatred, you really did, but recently it was getting harder to ignore. His questioning of Hyrule’s sudden loyalty to you turned to questioning everyone’s desire to not kick you out or abandon you to the next monster camp they found. He seemed convinced you were either an evil witch who forced Hyrule and Wild to love you, a monster disguised to destroy them, or even a direct agent of Dark Link (who you’d not-so-affectionately dubbed “Dink”) and planned to betray them all any day now. You, in turn, had stopped vehemently insisting you were harmless, and eventually resigned yourself to simply not rise to the bait of his stinging statements of distrust. You knew he’d been through a lot of pain and loss through his many journeys, but that didn’t excuse his treatment of you. Only your mother’s advice kept you somewhat sane — “bullies only prosper when you give them a reaction. If you don’t react, they have less reason to target you.” And yet, Legend’s berating only continued.
You silently huffed a sigh and turned around to lay on your other side, facing away from the fire. You didn’t really love the idea of turning your back to the one person who very clearly wanted you to cease existing, but you knew he had enough sense not to literally stab you in the back when you were both surrounded by witnesses who would decidedly not appreciate such a thing. Plus, the fire was too bright for your sleepy eyes anyway. You started a breathing exercise, prayed you’d assumed correctly about not getting murdered by your upset comrade tonight, and closed your eyes again.
——
An hour or so later you quietly groaned and sat up. Not only could you not fall asleep, but your bladder was beginning to rebel against the idea of waiting until morning to relieve yourself. The chain had made camp just a ways off from a wide yet shallow creek, and you decided that since you were already awake, you might as well go ahead and rinse your shoes off, too. That way they’d be dry in the morning and you wouldn’t have to worry about walking around in shoes that made your socks cold and wet. You shuddered at the thought and slowly stood, stretching your arms above your head and popping your back, then bending down to pick up your shoes and a bar of soap you’d bought in the town you all just passed through.
Legend spared you a calculating glance from his seat, saying nothing. You simply waved with your free hand and then signed “toilet” before walking away to take care of business. You didn’t have to look over your shoulder to know that he was staring holes into the back of your head; you could practically feel him doing so anyway. You sighed, choosing to instead focus on the foliage you passed on your walk, faintly illuminated by the fire back at camp and the dim glow from a bracelet Wild had given you. He said he’d used a brightbloom seed to make it, and you had been sure to express your gratitude. It was much easier than having to carry a torch, which was not only difficult if your hands were full, but was also very bright to your still-asleep eyes. That, and you’d almost started a forest fire last time you’d been entrusted to carry a torch when you weren’t yet fully awake (once the crisis had been averted, Legend of course claimed that you had done it on purpose, but you were so tired that you just gave him a deadpan stare with a raised eyebrow and plopped back onto your bedroll to resume sleeping).
After answering nature’s call and washing your hands, you sat criss-cross by the creek, took off your dirtied shoes, and started splashing them in the frigid water. It was colder than you’d expected, but everything barring your hands was still warm enough, and it helped shock you to be more awake and aware. You used some more of your soap to aid your struggle against the grossness crusted onto your shoes, thankful that they were made from something like leather, so it wouldn’t be too difficult to clean once you actually got started. As you washed, you listened to the sounds of the world around you, now returned since you were no longer disrupting their peace.
A sound like cricket chirps mixed with owl coos set the backdrop for the soundscape, while the occasional breeze played with leaves and stuck them in your hair. If you listened closely enough and stopped your washing, you swore you could almost hear the life within the flowers and greenery by your feet, the very soul of the land of Hyrule, its perseverance, growth, progress and patience, all poured with a parent’s care into each and every living thing it supported, down to the smallest weed by the creek bed where you sat.
The water before you seemed to whisper, not in the way the Sheikah technology would, but more like it was a living feeling, as if it wanted to impart to you the knowledge it had picked up on its journey to this place. You had heard a story, once, that water could hold memories; that every molecule of water in the world has existed since creation, for it cannot be created or destroyed by those who need it to survive. Every single drop had a story to tell, an event it had witnessed, a place it had once called home. Perhaps some of the water burbling and giggling before you was the same way — some of it might have seen the rise and fall of entire civilizations, the existence of every single hero, princess, and villain up to that very moment — and it would continue to amass these secrets, both big and small, every detail it would pass by, and no one would ever fully decipher its stories, its warnings, its wisdom and playfulness. And even so, it would continue to exist and endure, trickling on through the ages and epochs.
You were somewhat prone to these random philosophical trains of thought, and had thus been unknowingly sitting, unmoving, almost unblinking, in the same place for the past twenty minutes. If anyone were with you, they might have thought you to be having a memory episode akin to the ones Wild sometimes had. Indeed, you were so lost in the wanderings and ramblings of your own mind that you had no idea you were being watched. You had no clue until a sound was made that caused you to spring to your feet with a gasp and reach for the dagger you’d sheathed at your hip.
Legend stood at the tree line a few feet away, posture tense and, dare you say, predatory, unsettling stare boring into your own wide, surprised eyes. “What are you waiting for? Or should I say, who are you waiting for?” You blinked away the black spots at the edges of your vision from standing up too quickly, and relaxed the hand that held your knife as your brain worked to understand the situation.
“What?” you tried to be quiet, still recovering from being shaken out of your reverie. “Why would I be waiting for someone? They’re all asleep last I checked. Ooh shoot, did I wake someone up? I’m so sor-”
“Cut the crap, [Name],” he stood up even straighter, the line of his shoulders taught with anger. “I know you’re waiting for someone to give all your collected information to. Don’t pretend you’re all so goody-goody. I’ve seen the way you ask too many questions, always looking for more details to collect, more ways you can betray us, betray them. I knew you were a snitch, and I don’t know how you bewitched them all to trust you, but they’re all too blind to see it. But I’m not. I see right through you, I have from the start.”
He had stalked closer during his speech, his voice dropping to a threatening whisper you had only ever heard in movies. His approach had caused you to back up until your still bare feet felt the water’s lapping edge. You had dropped your boots, you weren’t exactly sure where, but that was only a vague thought in the very back of your mind. Your eyebrows scrunched together as your mouth opened and closed, trying and failing to come up with a good enough response. You weren’t spying, you were trying to find answers! You came from a completely different world, of course you had questions! He of all people should understand that, and yet he still accuses you? This finally snapped your patience, and you decided to just spell it out him:
“Look, I know you hate me, but this is too far, Legend. I am not some evil being to be defeated like in your adventures, I am not planning to cause trouble for you all, and I sure as anything would never betray you guys, especially not after the trust that has been extended to me by some of you. This group took me in, saved my life, helped me learn to defend myself, protected me time and time again, and I’ve only ever tried to help you, or at the very least not get in your way. I get that I’m not some ‘chosen hero’ with crazy butt-kicking skills, I know that I’m only okay-ish at fighting, not nearly as good as any of you, and I understand that my extensive knowledge of your adventures puts you on edge, but I swear on everything that I’m not a traitor, and the main thing that I just really don’t know is why you despise me when I’ve never even given you a single reason to do so!”
Your voice had steadily increased in volume, not quite to the point of shouting, but certainly not whispering any more. He seemed a bit surprised by your willingness to defend yourself, but he hid it quickly with a scowl and what sounded almost like a growl. You noticed dully that the forest had fallen tensely quiet.
“Oh drop the act, turncoat ,” he spat, “you have never been one of us, and the only reason I didn’t drop you off a bridge yet is because Hyrule would have my hide and Wild would poison my food. But don’t mistake my inaction for acceptance or ignorance. You’re no better than any of the enemies we fight on a daily basis. You’re actually worse, because you’ve wormed your way into my group, my allies, my brothers. You think you’re something special just because you got some of them to trust you?? You’re a parasite, a threat, and tonight is all the proof I need. I knew I should’ve spoken up more from the moment you oh-so-conveniently happened to stumble into our lives. You’re going to regret ever messing with us, and Dark Link will soon know without a doubt that he cannot ever send his agents into my family without dire consequences.”
His expression twisted to a hateful snarl, showing some of his teeth in an almost animalistic display of animosity. Your face, on the other hand, was flickering through countless expressions too quickly for even you to comprehend. You knew some of what you felt, pain, sadness, anger, guilt (even though you had no reason for that one), confusion, denial, and eventually a sort of raging, spiraling emptiness that screamed inside your chest. Your breathing quickened to an almost hyperventilating speed, and your eyes grew blurry with tears you’d been suppressing for weeks. Your hurt, misty eyes locked with a pair of violet, violent, volatile ones, and you realized that he was waiting for your response. His next actions could depend solely upon your response; your very life could depend upon whatever words next left your mouth.
You had tried so hard to be friendly to the group of Links, to not aggravate Legend too awful much. You had tried to help out wherever you could, to not be a burden, to not slow them down. You tried to let the pain of rejection roll off of you like water, to not let it get under your skin. You had tried so, so hard to be one of them; but you weren’t. It was at this point you realized what he’d said without actually saying it — he was afraid . Afraid of losing the only family he had left. He’d already lost his uncle, Marin, the whole island of Koholint, and almost all the people of his Hyrule viewed him with disdain at best and outright hatred at worst. He’d had to leave Ravio and Fable back in his Hyrule, and he never knew when (if) he’d ever see them again. You realized on an even deeper level the true message behind his words — ‘you are a threat to those I love. You are dangerous. You bring pain and that is all you’ll ever do. You are not worthy of any trust, comfort, protection, or love from anyone, least of all my brothers. You would be better off never having met us, having never existed.
You would be
better off
dead.’
You had tried so hard, and yet… You had never actually brought anything to the group but problems. You thought through your interactions with them all, but all you could see is the many ways you’d caused them worry, stress, or even anger. You were another mouth to feed, another bed to pay for at inns, another liability in fights, another person to slow down for as they walked. You were a burden. No, worse: you were a danger. What if they were so busy looking out for you that they didn’t see an enemy until too late? What if you slowed them down to the point where they couldn’t get where they were going in time? What if you drained their food or rupee supplies too fast? What if you got hurt again and caused stress and tension to rise, causing fights and even divisions to break out. You were a problem. Not a traitor, no, and not intentionally endangering, but they couldn’t afford to have you around any longer. And you couldn’t just leave, you’d die within a day if Dink didn’t find and torture you, but Legend wouldn’t be satisfied until he knew for a fact that you were out of their way. Permanently. He didn’t just want you to disappear; he wanted you gone. And finally, with a sinking heart, you realized just how right he was.
At this final revelation, a tear finally did slip past your lashes down to meet your quivering chin. You felt your thoughts scatter like startled deer, your heart thundering in its cage, pounding in your ears, scaring away the life in the forest around you. And you decided. You were a danger. You had no power here.
“I - I’m so sorry , I - I never meant to drive you apart, I -” you paused to hiccup and take a breath. You knew you were breaking, your composure deteriorating, but it was too late to stop. “Legen- Link. If you truly see me as a threat, if you truly believe that I will bring nothing but harm to you, to my-your friends, if…if you think that - that I should - I should never have met you, that I should never have…existed, I…I know I can’t force you to change what you so deeply believe, I -” You gasped a little shuddering inhale, and you made your final decision, the choice that you knew would be your last. You steeled yourself, and spoke. “If you honestly believe that you would all be better off - be safer - if I was gone, if you believe I’m a threat, that I would hurt you, that I - harbor ill intent, then…” you swallowed, still taking short, stuttering breaths. Then you turned around, held your hands palm-outward and arms open to the sides, and bowed your head; you left your entire back and neck, your spine, completely exposed to the man who wanted you dead. You leveled your voice, and accepted your fate. After all, he was an experienced hero, while you were just an inexperienced nobody. He would know what he’s talking about, what would be safest and best; you wouldn’t. He was not prone to emotional decisions; you were. If that was the case, then he was right. You were a threat to your friends.
“If you truly think that I should die for the good of the group, for their safety and happiness, then…then I… I trust you to do what’s right for your family. I would never willingly hurt any of them, I never wished any of you ill but…maybe I do just bring bad luck. Maybe I truly am a curse, a threat, a liability. If that’s the case, maybe - I know I can’t just leave, since Dink is after me and I know too much so - maybe I really am better off dead.”
There was a moment of silence, and then you heard him unsheathe his sword. The back of your neck prickled with danger, but you didn’t dare look over your shoulder. You counted the seconds as they passed, and you realized you had made it to thirty and nothing had happened yet. Why the hesitation? You assumed you’d be dying by now. Perhaps…perhaps Legend feared taking the blame for your death? Causing more division within the chain? Well, you shouldn’t let that stop him if your friends’ lives and safety were at stake. You would do anything to protect them, no matter what. Legend was right, and this had to happen. He had to do this. So why hadn’t he yet? You decided to offer some support, try to speed it along. You were never one for fearing the future but you really wanted this to be over, since you could feel the dread clawing up your throat, numbing your words and preventing any cohesive thought, forcing you to stand still and hear your blood thundering through your ears.
“You could, uh, you could make it look accidental, if you want?” You suggested. “Maybe - maybe I slipped, hit my head on a rock in the creek, maybe I drowned after I fainted or something, maybe I was playing with my knife and - and accidentally hit an artery.” At this point you started to hyperventilate again, desperate, but unsure as to why. “Maybe I was surprised by an enemy, a - a stalfos! - and I was too slow,” you continued, “or - or maybe I was kidnapped, maybe I was gutted by an enemy, maybe I - I just hit my head on something, maybe I had a - a - a hidden injury,” you were nearing hysterics now, “maybe, maybe I just — maybe I did it myself? Maybe I just couldn’t go on? Maybe, maybe I, I just - what if - I,” you lost your sense of words for a moment, “I can’t, I - what about if I just - just - You don’t have to take the blame, you know? You - you could cover it up! Maybe you just were doing your final rounds at the end of your watch and just found me - m-my body, maybe -”
“[Name] are you serious?” He cut through your rambling and you guessed he thought you sounded rather impertinent. You were trying to tell him how to do his job, and you’d kept on repeating what he likely had already worked through in his own mind.
Your mouth clicked closed so quickly your teeth almost clipped your tongue. Perhaps he wanted you to die quietly. You realize you were panicking and might’ve been too loud. Oh no, what if you woke someone up? Then Legend would get caught, and you would be the cause for even more trouble for everyone, and things would get even more tense, and if they were more distracted then they’d be in more danger, then…
You were still alive for some reason, although if you hadn’t been breathing so heavily you would have heard someone else’s suspiciously loud breathing behind you. As it was, you continued to hold still, arms sore from being held out, but you didn’t dare move. Even you knew better than to rob a predator of his prey, especially when he is so close to the killing blow. You were no fool, you knew he’d likely planned this for a while, and you knew better than to irritate him further. You just wanted to say one more thing, one final reassurance.
“I only want what’s best for them…best for you. I don’t hate you, contrary to what you probably think. I’m so sorry for any pain I’ve caused you, I truly am…I - I only ask that you make it quick, not for my sake, but if I was too loud a second ago and it woke anyone up and they found you kil-” your breath hitched, “killing me, it — it might make things worse for you all, and the last thing I wanna do is make things harder for all of you guys, I love you all and I—”
“Just SHUT UP!” Legend’s voice crashed through your pleading, and you stopped. And through the suddenly deafening silence, you realized something. Had his voice cracked? You listened more intently. He was breathing unevenly, almost gasping, almost…no, no your soon-to-be-killer couldn’t possibly…
He inhaled deeply and hoarsely whispered, “ Why? How, how could you just, just…” And in his struggle for words you heard something you would never have considered possible.
You had offered to die, just like he wanted, and
Legend —
Link —
was crying .
The man who wanted you dead, who planned to watch the light leave your eyes, was crying.
Perhaps he was just so happy you’d stopped resisting? Or perhaps he simply disliked the idea of causing someone pain? Yes, that was likely the reason; you were still a person, after all, and you knew that the Veteran, despite his callousness, did in fact have a heart (however guarded it might be).
“…It’s ok, Link,” you whispered reassuringly, “I’ll probably hardly even feel it, and if you’re right, and I’m sure you are, then…I deserve it anyway, and…I trust you to do what’s right, because…well, you’re a hero. You’re Link. I’m just… I’m nobody , nothing, so…It’s okay…” You stopped there, you knew he didn’t want you to talk, but darn it you always had a weak spot for people who cried, and you just had to try to reassure them, even if this particular person was planning to send you to meet your Maker a bit earlier than you’d thought you would.
But…there was still no sudden pain, no sword through your chest or severing your head, no sudden hit to the skull, nor were there hands forcing your face into the water until the bubbles stopped, nor any cutting, no slitting your throat, just…quiet sobbing?
Your mind froze for a second, and you held your breath to see whether the crying was actually from you. And it wasn’t. So, you waited. What else could make Legend wait? He was a hero, right? Maybe he just needed to psych himself up? It couldn’t be easy, you figured, literally stabbing someone in the back —
OH! Maybe that was actually the problem? Maybe he wanted to be at least a little more honorable and kill you face-to-face? After all, back-stabbing has a rather negative connotation attached to it. Facing forward and watching your killer do the job wasn’t really what you’d prefer, but it’s not like you had much choice in the matter. After all, he was the one with the sword.
In order to solve this newfound problem you slowly turned around and faced your whole body towards him, eyes closed, arms still out in a sign of surrender, tense muscles still ready for whatever method he would choose to end you. Maybe it would be kind? Likely not, seeing as you were a threat to his family.
Tentatively you opened your mouth and quietly reassured him, “If you want to do it head-on and not with my back to you, that’s…cool too? I-”
“Oh goddesses,” he practically choked on the words, “you…you actually are serious…?” His voice was rough with…emotion? Confusion? But why? You were giving him what he wanted, right? You were keeping your frien- his family safe…right?
Right?
And then you cautiously cracked open your eyes a little bit, and then opened them all the way, and you lifted your gaze and actually looked at him, rather than just listening.
And you saw that he was an absolute wreck.
Rarely seen tears now freely flowed from his violet eyes, and he had to sniff to keep his nose from running too much. His chin quivered slightly and his adam’s apple bobbed as he tried to find words without openly sobbing. He dropped his sword as his posture went slack, a hand raising to cover his mouth, his watering eyes wide with disbelief and something remarkably akin to grief. Your confusion turned to concern for the man before you. Why was he crying? Was he hurt somewhere? Surely that was the case, for no one could change their mind as abruptly as he seemed to, right?
He finally whispered hoarsely, “You…do you really…you’re actually willing to just…let me kill you?” He seemed shocked at your actions, but you didn’t know why. Unless…oh gosh, had you misread the situation?? You weren’t sure how you could have, but what if you did? What if you were the one to make him cry? How awful of a person could you be?
“I — I’m sorry, I — yeah, I meant it, really. I mean, I still do, but — I-I’m sorry if I misunderstood, I really am, I just wanted what was right, and I — I just figured you’d know better than me, that you’re right, but I didn’t mean to upset you, I swear, I’m sorry for making you cry, I never wanted that, I just wanted to keep them — keep you all — safe, but if I—”
“Just…stop… please .”
And you froze. Because Legend…he’d said please . He had never said please in the entire time you’d known him, and certainly not while addressing you of all people. So, you stopped. Your arms were in pain, however, and you risked slowly lowering them so they could lose their pins and needles. He didn’t react. He just brought his fist to his eyes in an attempt to get rid of the tears. He was no longer actively crying, so you counted that as a win. You continued to look at him, confused, but not trying to talk any more. You figured he would decide what to do in a minute. Maybe, you thought, he was crying with relief that he could finally stop fighting you.
And then he finally spoke again, in a very small, very subdued, almost unbelieving voice. “You’re telling the truth, aren’t you?” He seemed to hardly believe it.
No, you denied the small spark of hope trying to take root in the void of your chest. There’s no way. It’s too late. He’s going to kill me. He can’t have been wrong. I’m supposed to die, right?
He raised his eyes to meet yours once more, and it was all you could do to nod in agreement. After all, you had never tried to deceive any of them. You’d only ever endeavored to tell the truth, and you weren’t going to stop now of all times.
“You’re not…a witch?” He seemed to almost be thinking aloud, not actually talking to you anymore, but you nodded along anyway, just in case. “You’re not actually a traitor, are you?” He murmured, “You’re…goddesses, you’re not even evil, are you? An enemy would never turn their back to me, Dark Link would never surrender, but…that means you…you’re just a person…just…” Then, in an even smaller voice and with an emotion you couldn’t quite place, “You’re…just you? Was I about to — to kill — an innocent?”
And at that moment you recognized his emotion: horror.
Link was mortified, absolutely horrified that he, a hero of courage, one of Hylia’s chosen, a bearer of the triforce, savior of realms and countries, Link, was about to kill you, a person who had never actually harmed him or his brothers, someone he’d been so set on not trusting that he’d tried to twist you into something that you’d never been. You had tried so hard to protect them where you could, to ease their burdens, to not cause problems, to bond with them, to ignore his acidic hatred, and you’d been through so much pain and loss, and been targeted by Dark himself, and he still had tried to make everyone reject you. You were traumatized, hunted, injured, afraid, and he still hadn’t held back. Your questions had never been any sort of interrogation, but simply confusion. The trust you gained from the others was simply friendship, not any sort of witchcraft or manipulation.
And, with mounting terror, he finally, deeply, truly realized that he had somehow even convinced you — sweet, innocent, confused, traumatized, eager-to-help, optimistic [Name] — that you actually were the problem, that you should —
Oh goddesses, he’d convinced you that you were better off dead, that you should want to die — that you should just let him kill you. And for some heartbreaking reason, you had not only agreed, but then you’d exposed your most vulnerable points, without any sort of armor or protection, dropped your weapon, lowered your guard, closed your eyes, and told him to do what he believed was right…
You thought he was going to kill the person he should have been protecting this entire time. And you endorsed it only because of ignorant trust in someone who was supposed to be a hero.
And when he panicked, you’d tried to help him kill you .
He looked at you and saw your pain, your sadness, your survival, your resignation, your scars, your desperation to help others, he saw YOU, and not a trace of what he’d so firmly believed you to be. He was planning your death, and you’d tried to comfort him.
And Legend broke.
He did something neither of you expected; Legend, the one who had tried so hard to hate you, vaulted over the small distance between you, wrapped his arms around you, and held on so tightly he thought he might never let go. You had stiffened at first, halfway expecting a knife in your back, but when that didn’t happen you relaxed, almost dizzy with relief and swirling emotions, and you hugged him back just as fiercely. His face was on your shoulder, head bowed so that the fabric of your shirt muffled his increasingly panicked sobs and hiccups. And through those noises you could hear him apologizing relentlessly,
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, goddesses I’m so sorry, [Name] I — I’m so — so sorry, I’m sorry, I was so blind , I’m sorry, I was wrong, I was so, so, so — wrong, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” and so he continued.
You finally breathed for what felt like the first time since he’d snuck up behind you. Your heart was pounding and, now that you held Legend in your arms, you could feel his heart thundering just as quickly as your own. You gently lowered the two of you to the ground, trying to comfort him even as you worked through your own dissolving panic. You held him as if he were a child, gently rocking back and forth as you tried to imbue him with a sense of safe-secure-trust-okay.
“Shhh sh sh shh,” you whispered, “it’s okay, it’s okay, you’re okay, I’m okay, shh shh shhh, it’s okay, I…
I forgive you, Link.”
At this statement he began to sob even more heavily, and your own tears soaked his tunic as surely as his did your own.
“NO! No, you shouldn’t! You — you — I almost killed you!!” He pulled back and looked at you without letting go. “I would have killed you, [Name]! You — you can’t just forgive me! I — I’m so sorry, I can’t ever explain, I — I was so sure you weren’t trustworthy, I didn’t even give you a chance, I — gosh I basically just tried to freaking kill you, and you just…you can’t just — just —” he fell into hysteric hiccups once again, allowing you to interrupt.
“Well then, it’s a good thing you don’t decide what I can and can’t do, isn’t it?” You released your hug to hold his face in both hands, using a thumb to brush his tear-stained cheeks. “I’ll admit…I was, for a moment, scared, but,” you cut off his heartbroken and shattered gasp, “I get it. I don’t excuse what you’ve done, but I do somewhat understand and I forgive you, Legend. I choose to forgive you, Link.”
His world stopped in that moment. He stared into your eyes, so open, brimming with tears that he had caused. You shouldn’t forgive him. He was going to murder you, literally stab you in the back, in cold blood, right outside the safety of camp where his own brothers, who trusted both him and you, slept peacefully, placing full faith in him to keep the monsters at bay. And yet here he was, more of a monster than any of their Ganons or Ganondorfs could have ever hoped to be. He was despicable.
And then you even went so far as to offer him a watery smile that tugged gently on the Sheikah scars adorning your face, the scars of what you’d endured and survived. Oh goddesses, you were trying to comfort him — him — instead of yourself. You opened your arms and offered him another hug, and he was suddenly so thankful you were alive, that you were there with him, and that he hadn’t killed you. And he finally, fully, completely collapsed, releasing the pain he’d hidden away for so long from so much betrayal, distrust, and loss, burying his face into your shoulder once more. His stuttering breaths and hiccups prevented him from speaking, from begging you to hate him back, from telling you to strike him down then and there as surely as he planned to do to you, from screaming until his voice gave out simply because of his pure loathing toward himself, toward this monster he had let himself become.
You gently nudged him back toward camp, all the while holding him and tracing pointless patterns along his back, caressing his hair and whispering forgiveness in his ears. You fell asleep trying to keep watch for him by the fire, both of you tangled up in the other’s embrace, resting in the safety of someone you loved.
You both slept soundly and without nightmares for the first time in weeks.
….
And as the two of you sat there after crying your souls out to each other, having realized how much you actually cared for one another, the sounds of the forest slowly filtered back, joining with your sobs in a beautiful melody of mourning and life, shame and forgiveness. Your rivers of tears mingled together and joined the small creek, the whispers of your pain, relief, salvation, and reconciliation joining the water’s ever-increasing library of whispered memories and silent emotions. And it would never tell a soul, for no one could know what it knew; and you would never, ever know just how happy it was to gain your streams of tears and joy instead of the rivers of your life-blood.
And if the third watchman woke to find the two most bitter of enemies curled up together asleep by the fire, tear tracks on their red-splotched faces, hair unkempt and, in your case, feet bare, and if he simply draped a blanket over you both and almost cried himself, well…who needs to know?

✧ Yandere Legend ✧
"You could have died!"
"Legend, it's just a bruise from a Bokoblin. It isn't the end of the world."
"Don't start giving me that sass. I'm taking you to see Hyrule right now. You could've gotten a concussion, or worse. You could have internal bleeding!"
"Fine. I'll go see Hyrule if you stop worrying so much."
"You're my entire world. I would die for you."
"What?"
"What? I said you're just a loser. I wouldn't die for you."
"Sorry, the Bokoblin must have hit me over the head harder than I thought."
"See? I was right. Next time let me go with you. We can't lose our best archer."
"I'm technically your only archer."
"That still makes you the best one we have."
"Well, thank you. I am pretty good at this."
"Just do one more thing for me before we get you healed by Hyrule, okay?"
"Hmm? Yeah, what is it?"
"J-Just wear this ring for me. It's enchanted, so you'll be safe."
It'll mean we're married. None of the others will even be able to get close to you. You didn't need to know that. It's only a temporary thing. I'll get you a better and more protective one when we start dating. I can't scare you off quite yet.

Praising Pink-Haired Legend (NSFW)
Synopsis: “Displeased” was an understatement for how Legend felt about his new hair. After the others’ teasing, you did your best to make it up to him.
Contains: Minor comic spoilers, gender-neutral reader, nsfw, dry humping, neck-kissing, mentions of hickeys, implications of insecurity and a praise kink
Word Count: 639
Tumblr media
Soft sounds of pleasure and content filled the room; low moans and breathy sighs filling the air as you worked Legend’s neck.
His head laid back as you kissed him, perched comfortably on his lap. You made sure to leave any marks below the collar, knowing the last thing he needed right now was more attention from the guys.
He sighed, and as you kissed up towards his jaw, your hand curled into his hair.
“So handsome… Pink really suits you, baby…” Your words were low and soft, spoken right under his ear. He couldn’t help but groan and squeeze your waist as you did so.
“Sh…Shut up…” He mumbled, but his eyes were closed in content, and the way he turned his head only invited more kissing.
You smiled. “I’m serious…” A kiss to his ear. “I love it.” A gentle suck on the lobe. “You’re gorgeous…”
That pulled a whimper from him. Legend was never the type to roll over and be submissive, but he couldn’t resist being praised and kissed on.
It was something, whether he even knew it himself, that he craved deeply. He had given so many years, blood sweat and tears to do good and yet received such little thanks in return. He could cope with it all he wanted, pushing others away and saying he wasn’t lonely, but being loved and appreciated? Truthfully, it was like a drug to him.
Even for trivial things. Especially for trivial things, it gave him so much pleasure to be praised. To be told that he did good; that he was good. Even now, as you pressed gentle kisses to his skin and told him you liked the atrocious hair color, the mark of his own weakness, he felt happy.
More than happy. His head felt like it was full of cotton as you kissed his jaw and ran your fingers through too-long locks.
He felt like he was on a cloud, and you were simply pulling him along, guiding him through such sweet sensations. He loved you. He didn’t tell you enough. He loved you so much. He should tell you more-
“I- ah…” He could only manage a breathy noise as you rolled your hips against him, his head falling back again.
“You…What?” You smile teasingly as his breathing picks up. “Are sexy? Are turned-on? …Are the most handsome man I have ever seen?”
He only whimpers, squeezing your hips and giving a pathetic lift of his hips against yours.
You smile at the display, and wrap your arms around his neck. You press your lips against his neck again, and give a slow grind. “You look so good in pink, bunny.”
Bunny. He didn’t like that. He didn’t. He hated that. He wasn’t a bunny, he wasn’t cutesy, and he definitely wasn’t tiny and weak.
…So why did hearing you say it make his dick strain in his shorts?
He pants, wrapping his arms around your waist and humping you. You made him so hot. How did you manage to make him feel things that no one else ever could?
He liked the pink. He loved it. He loved hearing you kiss such sugared words into his skin. He’d keep his hair pink for the rest of his life. He’d dye his fucking pubes and pits pink, if just to have you give him one more kiss. One more compliment. He really felt like you were melting his brain from the inside, stripping away everything but the very base desires and sensations. All he could feel or think was pleasure. And it was all because of you.
He squeezed your waist, pulling you closer against him and rolling his hips into you with a noise he’d never admit to making.
And you only smiled, sliding a pillow between the headboard and the wall.

Legend with a S/O whose Love Language is Sarcasm
Needless to say out of all of the chain he is the most accepting of your sarcasm because he too is extremely sarcastic.
Legend loves how blunt you are and the teasing twinkle behind your eyes when you taunt him.
The chain is a little taken aback when they first meet you as it seems like you and Legend hate each other. But as soon as they find out the truth about your relationship, they become the little menaces that every Link is at heart. They like to tease Legend for becoming soft and ask if you can stay with the chain because of the way you seem to be able to keep Legend in his place.
Legend feels so relieved that he does not have to feel guilty for his sense of humor around you, after all, he would never intentionally try to hurt you with his quips. He does make sure to reassure you in private moments that he does care about you and that he doesn't mean most of his quips.
Legend would hate himself if he ever made you upset or even cry from one of his jokes. He tries his best to read your emotions before spouting a quip out, in fear that you had a bad day and he becomes your breaking point. It is one of his biggest fears. He never wants to be a source of pain for you.
You are quick to reassure him that you are not offended by his sarcasm and if anything you would be more offended if he stopped. You see the constant quips and jokes as a form of trust and intimacy. Plus, you love teasing him and you don't want your sarcastic banter to end anytime soon.
That being said, he feels extremely appreciative of your soft side that you only show to him in rare private moments. The way you whisper soft praises into his ears in the early morning light, after waking up encased in his arms, and sprinkling kisses along his jawline. It makes him feel giddy that he is the only one that gets to see this side of you and he is so glad that he gets the honor to call you his.

Of A Feather [Legend x Winged!Reader]
Birds of a feather and all that nonsense.
One of the fic requests from this Post. It grows.
Masterlist
TW: None.
Disclaimer: Don't own The Legend of Zelda franchise. Linked Universe is the fan creation of jojo56830.
---
Hidden in the joists above the common room, you gaze upon your lover with keen interest from the darkened ceiling supports. Watching closely as he stripped from his outer armor and protective clothing at the doorway of your shared (with Ravio too, but he had snuck out earlier that morning, leaving you with the morning chores the jerk) home. Taking in, with the greatest appreciation and spine tingling delight, the elegant arch of his lithe back muscles, the hard flex of his thighs and calves as he bent over to take his boots off.
Even more appreciatively though, you watched as his nimble, ringed fingers went through the motions, each polished, glimmering stone drawing you in like a moth to flame. You drew slow, controlled breaths as the leather cord of a necklace (several, in fact) was revealed across his nape, teasing you with the promise of the elaborate nest of precious stones you knew lay at your love's chest.
Hn. Maybe you'd forgive Ravio for abandoning you this morning. You'd accept a little light work as payment for this moment of private (because Ravio always had something to say, the fucker), unabashed ogling. The bastard was rather intelligent and liked you well enough most days, so he'd probably done it on purpose (he had, because he was getting bored of your constant whining while Legend was gone. and because he hated dusting day).
Link snorted, quite unattractively at that, and cast a sly glance over his shoulder to your hiding place. You caught a glimpse of something shining at his collarbones and your heart nearly arrested. "You gonna come down and greet your man or just stare all day?" He snarked, teasingly, a barely contained smile forced into the visual of a smirk.
You saw through it all though. Your Link had always been such a needy bunny when he first got home from one of his advantures. Just one little peck on the cheek or wrist, and he'd putty in your hands.
That wasn't fun though. First, you needed to play the game.
"My man?" You snarked back, leaning over the joist so he could see your glinting eyes in the darkness. Unnerving to most, but you could see the way red crept up the collar of his tunic, under the straps of leather promise. "My man wouldn't come home without bringing back something good. As an apology for leaving his poor beloved all alone in this big, empty (Link snorted, because empty? really?) house."
Link's smirk twitched, resisting the urge to drop into a fond smile at your poor excuse of a hook and reel. He bit anyway, because how could you not when you seemed so proud of your little comeback.
"My apologies, most beloved in all the land." That you rolled your eyes at. "Let this humble knight make amends to his Angel." The words rolled so smoothly off his tongue as he fell back on his little used mannerisms.
Turning to face you fully, he beckoned you to him with a single raised hand (the one with the red jeweled ring you adored so much), keeping the other at the small of his back. He was bent slightly at the waist, staring up at you with amused, smoldering eyes framed by attractively tussled pink-blonde bangs. Displaying the thick tangle of beauty hanging in a dazzling curtain from his neck, at his collarbone. A choker hidden just at the base of his throat, lined with richly colored gemstones.
How could you refuse a siren's call.
You fell from the supports with careless ease, and with a brief snap of motion, glided on great, gleaming black wings to the floor below. Loose papers flutter at the gentle swish of wind left in your wake, the soft sway of tapestries, pictures and maps a quiet symphony to your passing.
You saw the way his sharp eyes took you in with covetous admiration, locked on the carefully (purposeful) arranged constellation of colorful stars dotted against your perfectly preened feathers and skin. A welcome home gift and a punishment all at once, delicate chains of gold and silver binding many of his most prized treasures close to your skin, your wondrous wings.
You landed before him with the delicate chime of jewels and chains, rearing to your full height in a blatant show of presentation. Raising your neck to display the gorgeous necklaces (his necklaces, his prizes, hard won and kept in the darkest of dungeons) and flicking your ears to rattle the intricate, dangling earrings (collected over a lifetime, by his scarred battle-worn hands) caressing against your neck.
Upon your forehead you could feel the silky sway of your hair ornaments resting in artful waves, lines of thin bands woven into the strains of your locks. The subtle weight of glittering temptation rested upon your wings with confident poise, a masterpiece of flesh and stone.
You held out your left hand to the man (waiting, anticipating). Revealing a thin, polished band upon a singular finger, painstakingly crafted metal so luminescent it glowed even in the daylight. Perfect, but for the warped edge you so adored to run your thumb across on those long, lonely nights (crafted by the hands of the man you love, and offered on one knee with an open, willing heart).
"Well, my knight." You said, smiling around far too many teeth. Hiding the way your heart thundered at the sight of his haggard, sleep deprived but dearly missed face. "Make your amends."
He leaned forward and placed a kiss, slow and lingering, upon the hand of his greatest treasure (having naught the strength to deny himself his longing any longer with his heart's desire so close). "Of course, my most beloved." His placed his forehead to the ring, falling to one knee with a tender smile across his lips. "Whatever you command of me."
And you smiled back, dropping to your knees as well to swoop him into your arms, wings circled around you both in a flutter of constellations. Kissing him on the nose, the game lost before it'd even begun. "Take a bath. You stink."
"Huh!?"
---
Some miles away.
"So. This buisness partner he's talking to." Twilight began (again), trying and failing to stare down the strangely dressed man Legend had summarily dumped them on (again). "Are they really as ruthless as you say?"
Ravio threw his head back, hands on his hips and back straight as he squeaked obnoxiously (mischievously). "The most ruthless I've ever met! The first to ever put Mr. Hero soundly on his knees!" At the other Hero's widened eyes, the merchant waved a dismissive hand. "Fear not though! Mr. Hero is experienced with their cunning ways! He won't be taken advantage of so easily a second time!"
"Still-" Twilight started, only to be stopped by a large, assuring hand on his shoulder.
"He's got this Rancher." Time said, an impish gleam in his eye that went unnoticed by the twilight hero. "He's Legend, after all."
After a brief, silent stare Twilight eventually conceded with a small, teasing smile. "You're right. He probably doesn't want us to see him getting bested in his own time, is all."
"Yeah." Time hummed agreeably as he cast a knowing smirk at the hooded merchant. "That's what it is." He winked, or blinked (or maybe he did nothing at all). Hard to tell with only one eye.
Behind the hood, Ravio rolled his own eyes, exasperated.
'You owe me so many rupees when I get back, Crow!'
"Hey? Where's Hyrule?"
"Wasn't he with you?"
"No! Wild had him!"
"Had Who?"
'If I ever get back!'
---
Back to the shadows to rest my weary mind.

Dancing on my own
(Short, Sad legend Drabble)
A/n:This is a legend Drabble I came up with listening to dancing on my own by Robyn. Sorry, all of my ideas come from music😭. This is sad. Unrequited love. Lyrics go “I’m in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh. I’m right over here, why can’t you see me? Oh. I’m giving it my all, I’m not the girl you’re taking home. So I keep dancing on my own, I keep dancing on.”
Tumblr media
You’re at a party at the castle. Link’s there, talking to the princess. You’ve been head over heels for the hero for years, and you’re hoping somehow tonight would be the night you’d finally be able to get him alone and tell him how you feel. You’re in the corner of the room, trying to collect your thoughts and gather some semblance of courage and psych yourself up to go talk to him, but when you look up, you see them laughing, and you see him kiss her. You’re standing right over here, why can’t he see you? He was never really looking in the first place. He was too enthralled with *her*. You’re giving it your all to not cry in front of everyone. You’re not the girl he’s taking home.

Hey mish 👉👈
legend as literally been taking for over every thought sooo could i maybe get some fluffy soft Legend
-🐰
You said fluffy Legend - SO I GIVE YOU BUNNY LEGEND SNUGGLES!!!
Characters: Legend x GN!Reader, including Twilight for hilarious banter.
A/N+Warnings: N/A, safe for everyone. Written by Mishwanders - pls do not repost.
“Twi, there you are - uh, what’s that?”
Twilight and Legend both stood still in realization that you had somehow snuck up on them amidst their plan that involved ridding the Veteran of the dark crystal that had turned him into the cutest little pink bunny that would ever grace the grounds of Hyrule. It didn’t help the fact that Legend had a huge crush on you, one that Twilight had known and the Veteran had asked him specifically that you wouldn’t see him in this form. So, Twilight did what he could best and turned to face you, hiding his small friend behind his back in hopes that he’d be able to hide away in the grass before your eyes caught him.
“What are you talking about? There’s nothing there!” Twilight lied
You crossed your arms as you stared directly at him. “Twilight you are one of the worst liars I’ve ever met. Now, where’s the bunny?”
“What bunny?”
“Twi -” You groaned, pushing past him and inspecting the grass. You watched to see a pair of eyes peer up at you from the grass, catching the movement of its little nose binkies and the sight of its bright pink fur. You quickly pulled out one of the extra bananas that Wild had given you from your pouch, peeling a part of it and holding it close in its direction.
Bunny Legend looked at you as if you were crazy, but when he caught on to the scent of the banana, he couldn’t help himself but come close and take the smallest of bites. The flavor of it was so good, he couldn’t control his little bunny body from binkying in the air. When he landed back down on the ground he looked around at himself in shock. “How did I do that?!”
Now you were shocked by the very clear human voice coming out of him. “Legend?!”
He cowered, knowing he’d been caught. He half expected you to laugh at him, but instead you got down on his level, holding out your arms to him. “What happened to you?”
Well, if you were offering to hold and console him, Legend was not going to miss that opportunity. That’s how he found his way in your arms, pointing towards Twilight with his little paw. “I might have touched his dark crystal.”
“The thing that turns him into wolfie?” You asked
“H-How did you know?!” Twilight chimed in, confused how you knew.
“Twilight the marks on your face are the same as Wolfies.” You replied, “Any idea on how to fix this?”
“The master sword can fix it, but we have to lure Sky over here to do so.” Twilight stated
You nodded, gently petting Legend’s little bunny head as he instinctively snuggled in closer to your arm, content as could be. “You know, I know we have to turn him back, but I quite like him like this, he is so soft and cute!”
Twilight bit down on his lip, trying not to laugh at the Veterans expense. He could see the glare the man was giving him in his small form, hearing him respond with “If you tell any of the other’s about this, I swear you’re going to be waking up with one of Wild’s bugs in your bed.”
Twilight laughed in response, unable to contain himself any longer. “Don’t worry, my friend, I won’t tell a soul.”

A tough nut to crack
Pairing: Ravio x GN reader and Legend x GN reader (Not poly) Word count: 2.6k General info: You meet Ravio and get along with him well, Legend is less than happy that Ravio is flirting with you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Excitement circulated from every vein in your body as your group was nearing Legend’s house. Hearing several accounts from the other Links about all the different and unique artifacts Legend had collected over the years was enough to let you know it was no ordinary house, and it made you get lost in thoughts about what sort of items you’d find there. Not only that, but you’d also have the chance to take a proper rest and your legs were aching for one.
If the others weren’t lying, there was a lot to see at The Veteran’s. Oh, and you’d also get to meet Ravio, but the Vet didn’t look too thrilled when telling you about his counterpart. No matter, you couldn’t wait to see what was awaiting you.
Legend opened the door to his house unceremoniously, a serious expression over his features as he told you all for the hundredth time that day to be careful, and shot non-subtle glances at Wind in specific. You heard a surprised sound from inside the structure after the door was parted open, and the person inside approached Vet.
“Oh, it has been a long time since your last visit! And you’re still with your friends, I see?” You assumed that the man in purple garbs that made his way to Legend had to be none other than Ravio himself.
“Yes, but we’re just here to rest for a day and pick up some stuff before hitting the road again.” Replied the hero with pink streaks in his hair.
At this point, the other members of the group were starting to roam the house of their comrade, a few of them almost as comfortable as if it were their own home. You were only half-listening to the conversation Legend was having with his friend, figuring that it would be a while before you got to properly meet Ravio or talk to Legend again. Entertaining yourself in the unknown house proved to not be a problem, however, as several flashy objects you had never seen before instantly caught your attention.
A loud ‘bang’ on one corner of the house had everyone turning their heads in the direction of the sound, Legend didn’t think twice about storming off towards the perpetrator, which seemed to be Wind this time as he chuckled and ran away from the angry hero. About to dash after the youngest member in the group and make him pay for whatever he touched, something had stopped Legend in his tracks.
“And who may those beautiful eyes belong to?” Your head turned to find the person that said those words.
That voice was unmistakably Ravio’s. And no doubt that compliment was directed at you when you considered he was slowly advancing towards you, no one else was nearby and beautiful green irises were fully locked on your form. The blush spreading over your face was unavoidable once you fully registered the implications of the words, but you weren’t the only one left in this state as Ravio had a faint hint of pink over his features as well.
“I’m (Y/N), nice to meet you.” The grin spread across your cheeks couldn’t be bigger.
An equally bright smile was mirrored on the merchant’s face at your reply
“That name compliments your beauty so well. I’m Ravio.” He animatedly bowed before you and when he came back up to meet your eyes, he held a proud grin that was close to basically radiating.
Your interaction drew everyone’s eyes to your direction. Eyes that you couldn’t really notice at that moment watched intently for the next move. But the momentary gazes dispersed right as Ravio held your hand and dragged you to the kitchen while asking you several questions to know you better and told you more about himself. Legend put a hand to his forehead in annoyance and sighed, the exchange was close to giving him a headache. The captain had slowly inched closer to the Vet and lightly elbowed him on the arm.
“Looks like you’ve got some competition.”
When Legend looked at the captain, he was met with smug eyebrows. He heard Wind and Wild trying to suppress laughter behind him, and he groaned.
“Shut. Up.” He gave Warriors the most intimidating look he could muster at the moment, but it was to no avail.
“But there’s still a chance. If you ever need advice on how to get your precious (Y/N) back, I’m your man.”
A surge of blood raced to his face and settled on his cheeks, he hoped the blue-scarfed hero didn’t notice. The full, untamed laughter of Wind and Wild made his annoyance intensify and he took a deep breath as an attempt to reclaim his composure. Legend stormed off to his chests to inspect his items and just get this over with, not even looking back at Warriors or anyone else for that matter.
He heard your chatter with Ravio, and while he wanted to ignore it, his mind wouldn’t let him. Even as he shuffled through his belongings, the conversation was ever present in his head and wouldn’t leave him at peace, like a mosquito bite when it starts itching.
Back to the section of the house with you and the merchant, as you came to learn what he was, he’s been looking for something through the cupboards and other storage locations in the kitchen. You were left clueless as to what he could be looking for like a rodent searching through trash without success.
“Are you sure you don’t want anything? When was the last time you ate?”
“I’m fine, thank you. I ate breakfast this morning.” You told Ravio once again that you weren’t hungry. He seemed to finally understand that you really, weren’t malnourished and didn’t need to eat right now.
“If you say so, but at least let me make something special for my new guest! What about some tea?”
Right as Legend was going to tell Ravio to stop pestering you, he heard your reply, which irritated him further.
“Sure! Thank you, Ravio.”
Legend tried to pay it no mind, hoping that he seemed casual enough in his body language while looking through the chest. When his efforts proved futile, he gave up and sat down on a stray chair as he no longer had the energy or motivation to continue his search or chastise anyone that touched the wrong object. He would simply blame Time and Twilight for doing a bad job at supervising the group. But most of the chain had settled down by now, to the Vet’s relief, as some of them chatted with one another; unfortunately he still had to endure hearing your conversation with his counterpart in the meantime.
The sound of flapping broke through the air, making Legend look up as Sheerow flew above him. The bird flew stationary right next to Ravio’s head and let out a chirp as if announcing his presence, the avian held a motionless face but even still, you could feel those black eyes stare at you in curiosity.
“I almost forgot, this right here is my friend, Sheerow! He’s a real one, let me tell you. Seems like he just woke up from his nap and really wanted to meet you!”
You stared in surprise as Sheerow mimicked every one of Ravio’s over-animated body sways that he did during regular speech, the strangest thing to you was how the bird was able to replicate the movements simultaneously with his owner’s. Not that you had much time to question how something like that was possible as the mass of white and light blue feathers flapped in front of your face. Ravio watched the interaction with the same excitement a child being given candy would. The avian perched himself on your shoulder, sitting on it.
“Ooooh, he likes you!” Ravio practically beamed and swung his body side to side in content. Your giggles uncontrollable after watching the whole scene.
“Not that I doubted he’d get along with a lovely person such as yourself, but seeing this is way better than I thought it would be!”
Another compliment had you voicing a ‘Thanks’ just audible enough for Ravio to catch, but this time, Legend also heard it; courtesy of his ever vigilant ears. The Hero of Legend half-snarled to himself at what he heard.
He couldn’t sit through this anymore, The Vet abruptly stood up from his seat and made his way outside with a stride that emitted a silent message that read ‘don’t talk to me’ that everyone inside the house seemed to have figuratively read. The front door was shockingly not slammed shut after the unamused hero closed it without looking. The air turned still and it became coated with a fog of tension that couldn’t be seen, but was definitely felt; even for those that hadn’t really paid any mind to Legend, or whatever had been happening outside their immediate range. The house was silent for a couple seconds before conversation slowly resumed.
“Oh, Link. He’s so kind-hearted and brave most of the time, but you can’t tell what’s going on in that mysterious head of his half the time.” Ravio shook his head in disappointment mixed with a twinge of sadness.
“I swear, and I’ve told him before that his stubbornness and shielded heart will be the end of him. That thing is guarded way better than any castle!”
You could only exchange glances with Ravio with a look of clear understanding for what he said as you knew very well what he was talking about, the concern shared between the both of you.
“I would talk to him myself, but for all I know, I might be the last person he wants to see. That’s the problem.”
“I could go and ask him.” You suggested, Sheerow hopped off your shoulder and settled to flying in place next to Ravio. You would question how a bird understood you the same way a human would, but there were more pressing matters at hand.
“Then, I wish you good luck. Hopefully you can get through that thick armor of his.” The merchant gave your bicep a reassuring squeeze and his face offered a soft smile.
You made your way to the front door, carefully closing it behind you before quickly searching for Legend. He was clearly not at the front of his house, you would have seen him by now. Silently walking to the back of the structure and there lies the hero, sitting on the ground with his legs extended, back leaning against the wall. Your presence doesn’t go unnoticed as he catches sight of your peeking face from the corner, he averts his eyes fast while shifting around anxiously.
No point in hiding now, you were spotted. You take cautious steps towards the hero, stopping beside him with a question.
“Can I sit with you?” Legend visibly tensed at your question, but very subtly nodded in approval.
Sitting down next to the hero and making yourself comfortable, you let go of a breath you didn’t know you were holding. What came next was of no surprise to either of you, Legend knew what was gonna happen in the next few seconds.
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, just wanted some fresh air.” The Veteran stated, in his best effort to sound genuine and not like he was one minute away from wilting flowers and plants with a single look of his.
You didn’t want to assume anything, much less annoy Legend with your prying but his body language and mannerisms were incredibly telling that he might as well have a sign stuck on his face that read ‘I’m upset’.
“Something’s bothering you.” It wasn’t a question, it was an assertion.
“I don’t want you to be upset, I just want to help you.” You continued, placing your hand on Legend’s shoulder in a reassuring manner, half-expecting to have accidentally upset him further and be demanded you leave.
But that didn’t become real at all, the hero relaxed his body and let out a sigh, not minding the close distance. He properly looked at you this time, like you were really holding a conversation.
“I’m not upset, it’s just…” He paused, opening and closing his mouth as he searched for those words that wouldn’t show themselves in his head.
He couldn’t tell you. He didn’t want to dig his own grave by telling you what was the real issue; and neither did he want to paint Ravio in a negative light because he was acting like a kid that didn’t yet know how to handle his own emotions, it wouldn’t be fair to his friend, even if he wanted to strangle him with his scarf in that moment.
“Just forget about it.” He exclaimed, his words and aura listless as he told you.
“If you won’t tell me, is there something I can do to help you?” Your brows furrowed in determination of hoping to achieve something, and Legend got that message clear.
He averted his eyes and absentmindedly trembled one of his legs. Would you make fun of him for such a childish request? Would you stop liking him because it made him seem clingy? Would you later go to the rest of the group and gossip about him with unforgiving judgement? Or was he unconsciously making unfounded assumptions and scenarios in his head again, after you had shown yourself incapable of doing any of what he had came up with just a few seconds ago? Guilt instantaneously washed inside of him and overflowed through his pores.
Legend swallowed thickly, directing a quick glance in your direction and found patience staring back at him. He regained control of his breathing, choosing to bite the bullet just this once.
“I just want to spend more time with you.” Had you been any further away and you would have missed his words in a tone close to a whisper.
“You could have told me that earlier! Don’t tell anyone, but you’re my favorite.”
Your response made him breathe deeply, relief took over his restless state of mind. And for the first time that day, his lips curved into a genuine smile and he chuckled.
A/N: AAaaaaah I couldn't resist writing more tsundere Legend after having this idea marinating in my head for nearly a week. Pls help him get used to opening up, he's a troubled soul, also I love that skrunkly man Ravioli if you couldn't tell.

And you never knew, how much I really liked you.
To my Legend lovers. And to my friends on discord, I did the thing :)
Characters: Legend, Reader, mentions of Ravio, Time, Wind, Sky, Warriors, Twilight, Wild, Four, Hyrule and Marin.
Warnings: Idk Legend crying at the end bc why not??
Legend knew that treating you like this won't really solve anything. The snappy remarks, piercing glares, and the absolute harsh accusations that spill from his mouth.
The arguments with the rest of the chain about how they trusted your words way too easily for his liking. Come on now! They're heros who's been doing this for awhile, they should understand about enemies disguising themselves to attack until they're vulnerable!
Yet deep down, he too fully trusted your words as well.
Underneath all his actions?
He remembers.
Legend doesn't really know why he was the only one that remembered you straight away. Perhaps it's because of how many adventures he's been on, and the way that you willingly stuck by his side through out all of it.
He remembers your soothing voice of comfort after his journey on Wind Fish Island. The way you comforted him and reassured him on what happened, but that feeling didn't last.
You disappeared.
You left him.
And again when the world called for him only then did you return. Once more did you guide him through his adventure, but you weren't just a companion. No, you were someone he cherished deeply. You were his friend, the only person that knew of his troubles and you knew him like the back of your hand.
Those nights of hushed whispers when Legend had time for solitude. Those nights of you guiding him through his injuries, and those touches of warmth that he felt after patching himself. You called them 'feel better kisses.'
Legend remembers the time you welcome Ravio with open arms. He didn't miss the way how Ravio would speak so softly towards him, whenever he asked about you or asked if you wanted any item in particular. In return, Legend would voice out your response.
He recalls the time you encouraged him to jump into the lake for him to cool off, after he lost his temper at a merchant. The way your giggles echoed in his ears, a bit muffled, since he refused to appear in the surface since he felt his face burn a bit.
The way you spoke adamantly about wanting stay and listen to Marin whenever she sang the ballad. It was honestly both of your favorite tune.
Until one day did you finally left him for good. The night before your disappearance you were even more affectionate than ever. Hogging his attention and all around his body was this warm feeling as if someone placed a blanket over him. Legend felt giddy since you've never acted this way before. He relished in your affection as he returned home to lay in bed.
As he prepared for bed, it was the only time he was able to relax. To feel like he didnt need to worry about his next adventure nor worry what who or whag to save next. Legend heard that familiar ballad again, but this time it wasn't Marin's voice, it was yours.
Legend, surpisingly allowed himself to be vulnerable tonight as he laid in bed. He mourned the people of Koholint Island, and his heart ached for a certain purple merchant that can no longer visits.
Underneath the covers did he enjoy the soft singing of your voice. Eventually, he bid you a good night, and he could've sworn you whispered a 'Sweet dreams.'
"I'm sorry-"
Now here you are standing in front of him physically. And sweet Hylia were you even more magnificent than he could imagine. Finally being able to see your expression, the way you stood, and being able to put a face to your voice. Legend greedily took in all the details of who you were until he realized what you did.
You gave him false hope of being together, and being at his side. Now you pretend that the past years of wondering and solving dangerous dungeons together didn't exist?
That his hardships were nothing but entertainment for you? Was Zelda nothing to you? Was Ravio's affection to you also nothing?
Legend hates you.
He hates you and your stupid [color] hair.
He hates the way your voice reach his ears whenever you spoke with the Champion.
He hates your laugh whenever he catches you with the sailor.
He hates the way you unashamedly gave your affection too the Traveler.
He hates how you and the Old Man can speak so softly to each other during those quiet moments.
He hates the way you flirt back to the Captain whenever you wanted to tease back.
He hates the look on your face whenever the Smith shows you his variety of artifacts and tools he's created.
He hates the way you rest with the Knight. The look of ease and the full trust of being in each other's company.
But he especially hates the way you sing with the Rancher. Familiar melodies that you sang before with him.
Yet Legend still loves you. He loves you so much that he would give up everything he has just to be with you.
Legend has traveled between worlds, and he would do so again just to have you once more.Except he felt that sickening feeling of envy. He wanted you to hurt the way he did after all those years.
Although the nagging thoughts that appear, saying that it won't fix anything that has happened. He's just too stubborn to acknowledge the longing that's still there.
And now as he stands in his home. His cluttered home with artifacts that he has collected during his time adventuring.
None of them held any value to him except for you.
His adventure is over, and so is yours.
They took you home.
Legend, finally alone, collapses onto the ground. Gripping his hair as hot tears fall down his face, the world around him gone as he loses himself in thoughts.
Because I never even told you, Oh, and I meant to

LEGEND
Legend is reasonable, he’d consider, just not when he's presented with (almost) constant questions and concerns regarding his relationship status with his closest friend.
Any question along the lines of “so when’d you two start dating,” are quickly met with a snappy response with little second thought. “I saw you with your significant other not too long ago,” and any further ramblings are quickly put to an end when he sends a withering gaze their way.
At some point, Legend becomes tired of comments regarding his relationship with you. If it weren't for his aversion to dark magic, he’d drown himself in a curse of some sort that stopped any related questions entirely.
He’s never turned down acts of reassurance from your side. Whether they are words of affirmation or acts of affection, he never fails to be less inconvenienced about the event when you intervene.
Legend tends to hold his sharp tongue when you're around. He’s never rude to you, or (sometimes) to the other Links, when you're around because he always wants to be a better version of himself when you're around.
That doesn't mean he's good at biting his tongue.
He’s very much susceptible to rolling his eyes, groaning, and telling someone to shut up with a scoff. Legend might wind it down even further with a “please leave us alone,” or “can you just drop it,” if you don't seem pleased by his responses.
Despite his very obvious annoyance when it comes to misinterpretations of his relationship, Legend is quick to dispel any doubts you may have in your mind.
“Would you rather I tone down on the affection? I—” Absolutely not. You’re the only person he feels comfortable with when it comes to anything tactile; he's so used to it now, he’d rather die than lose it all because of some stupid rumor.
“Maybe we shouldn't share food or drinks anymore. It sends the wrong idea.” Okay? Who cares about an indirect kiss? What even is it? You either kiss or you don't. Besides, you have food that he wants to steal (or, he has food he wants you to try), where's the issue with that? Is sharing not caring?
One way or another, Legend is one of the less tolerant Links when it comes to his platonic relationship being taken the wrong way, only being rivaled by Wind and Four’s Blue.
“My Great Goddesses,” Legend groans under his breath. He folds his hands on the side of his temple, the beginnings of a headache working its way into his mind the longer he (forcibly) hears the group of older women coo over his supposed relationship. “Make them stop.”
A swift kick under the tavern table makes Legend’s complaints come to an end. The sharp glance you sent him reels him back in like a dog on a leash.
“Sorry,” he mutters just barely under his breath.
You laugh quietly, just barely audible over the afternoon rush. “I was trying to tell you to go after them,” you hum in an equally low voice. “I’m honestly a little tired of it too.”
“Seriously?”
“Naturally.”
There's a giddy feeling that fills Legend as he stands. It might have been the slight buzz that came with his drinks, or the more natural feeling that was released when he realized he wouldn't have to be nice anymore, but the feeling is there nevertheless.
“Will you cover my part of the bill if I manage to do it without making them leave?”
“Half.”
“Three-quarters.”
“Twenty-five percent.”
“You don’t love me anymore?”
Taking out your wallet, you shake your head at his antics while putting rupees on the table. “You forget the last time you pulled something like this; but I do love you, yes.”
“I love you too, then,” he hums, pressing a kiss to your cheek with a pat on your arm. “I’ll be sure to pay you back— eventually.”
Tumblr media
TWILIGHT
This is not the first time he's been in a situation like this, shockingly. He and Ilia went through this same scenario with the villagers of Ordon, but it's the same twenty people with the same two rumors, so everything was squashed between them rather quickly.
But this isn't Ordon. It’s not the same twenty people; it’s everyone in different eras revolving endlessly.
Yet, Twilight doesn't mind.
Every question and comment is easily passed off with “oh, we’re just friends,” or “oh, no! I don’t see them that way,” with a light laugh.
Tactile responses such as hugs, kisses (to the forehead, cheek, hand, wrist), and hand holding are natural to Twilight. He never oversteps his boundaries (whether they're set or not), so his old habits are always fitted for them.
Being called your boyfriend be damned, Twilight is clingy. He's a wolf at heart, so being around those he considers to be a part of his clan. He gently pulls you out of the way from oncoming carriages with an arm around your waist, rests his chin on your shoulder or head while listening to whatever you’re rambling on about, and presses a kiss on your cheek in greeting and goodbye— but it's still strictly platonic.
Twilight holds more than enough respect to shut down anything like “I bet your wedding will be so beautiful,” and “your children will be the prettiest,” for the both of you. “We already agreed we’d be each other's mate of honor,” and “I already told them they’d be the godparent for my kids if I have any,” are almost always his responses.
Unlike Legend, Twilight genuinely finds it amusing everytime someone gets the wrong idea. He finds it easy to joke about when the person is gone or hours after the fact, but he will stop if he finds you don't find it as funny as him.
If, on the off-chance, you both visit Ordon (assuming you aren't from there), more rumors would pop up once more. Are you another Ilia? How long have you known Link? Do you treat him well, at least? Is that a ring on your finger? Are you wearing his pelt? When's the wedding?
Twilight is quicker to cut those off at the source before they spiral. No, he's known you as a friend for a long while (at least to him) and you’ve just so happened to grow close, he’d like to think you do, it's a family heirloom, and you just wanted to see the appeal in why he wore it all the time— now, please. Stop.
“It’s not funny.”
“It’s not?”
“No..”
“Yeah, alright.”
Twilight hides from the barely cracked door, hands cupped over the lower half of his face to muffle his laughter.
He can understand where the inn owner might have gotten the idea that the two of you were an item.
Upon first entering the establishment, he was pushing himself against you as though you shared the same body (the result of paranoia following a run-in with a particularly strong group of poes). He had insisted you get one room instead of two before you claimed one bed was fine when told there was no room available with two.
He supposes the final nail in the coffin would’ve been when he dropped his wallet on the counter when you started rummaging to get out your own, dragging you up their stairs once the key was dropped into his hand.
Twilight can see the beginnings of your laughter work its way through your body and face as you close the door. The owner’s inconvenienced “try not to be too loud; I’d like to not lose any more customers because of pairs like you,” rattling around in your minds when he stopped by to return Twilight's large pouch.
“It’s still not funny,” you say, trying to steal yourself as you stumble back to the bed. “It— it won’t. It’s mean.”
Denial and the urge to be the bigger person was slowly diminishing within you. It was undeniable.
Twilight joins you on the bed, shifting and ignoring the burning pain from his scrapes as you both become comfortable. The cramping he’d feel during the night was inevitable, but he could withstand it knowing he was right.

when the dawn comes
legend had always been overly suspicious, a little bit anxious and maybe a tad paranoid, but somehow, when you opened you finally opened your eyes at the break of dawn, he felt as if, for at least that moment, he could feel safe again.
character — Legend, platonic.
cw — mentions of anxiety driven actions, abandonment issues.
Legend is such a fun character to play with, it makes me dreamy. He makes this tangent in which he seem to hate it all, but it's so painfully clear that he cares so much about everything. He has a bleeding heart, but chooses to hide it with his thorny mask, but that's okay since I love him all the same.
Tumblr media
His eyes opened in a shot, heartbeat quickly thrumming against his ribcage as if wanting to rip out of his chest, as a heavy breath escaped his lips in relief.
The dense foliage above his head rustled and he looked to the side, the group still resting peacefully as he could spot Hyrule taking over the night watch, the traveler eyes flitting to him the moment he sat up.
“It's still too early for us too switch up, you should go back to sleep.” Hyrule said in a whisper.
“I can't...” There was a pause, while green eyes met violet ones the other sighed, getting up and freeing the spot for Legend. “Thank you.” His voice was quiet.
The other sighed, patting him firmly at the shoulder before heading to his own mat. The both of them knew there were things better left unsaid.
Legend sat at the wilting log, head up to the sky as he heard the whispering of the woods, the chill in the night air that usually should bring him a semblance of comfort, did nothing but scratch at his already weary mind.
Somehow he wondered, what if this was nothing but a dream again? And what if it wasn't? What use would it all be, when he knew that all of this would remain as nothing but a memory?
There was never a way back.
He made sure to remind himself of it every day, yet he could only yearn for more, to not be left again, for someone to stay and assure him that he was enough, that he did what he could.
That he was worth staying for.
It was selfish, he told himself, Legend knew he couldn't ask anyone to stay for him and yet he knew that he would abandon all of his, if he was ever asked for it.
It was an erratic existence. One which he hated.
One filled with too many memories he wished to let go — it wasn't true. Memories he clutched with all of his being, as if it was his lifeline, for that was what it was, the proof of his existence. Memories of journeys which caused him so much pain, yet he wouldn't trade for anything, he wouldn't change a single thing for that is what he was, what formed the person he was to that day and made him the more natural part of himself.
A sound from behind broke him from his thoughts, and he could see how you, and some others were already waking up.
“Legend..?” You looked at him with bleary eyes and a groggy smile.
The sun was rising.
And somehow he felt as if his worries were all for naught, after all, since when was he ever one to back down because of irrational fears?
He returned a smile of his own, natural sharpness to it.
“It's time to go, sleepyheads.”
As if vanishing into thin air, his fears faded, for he knew that no amount of time would ever be enough to steal the memories he made during this time, cherished and tucked near his heart, for he was the group hoarder and there would never be a treasure as precious as all the moments he lived beside them.

Faker Faker (Legend)
Pairing: Legend x reader
Rating: T for cursing
Summary: Legend comes home to you, his beloved (fake) partner. The boys have the time of their life teasing him for this.
Warnings: Idiots in love, if I missed anything please let me know
-------
You don't remember how exactly you and your fake boyfriend decided to start fake dating, but you remember why. Though even then, it was a bad idea, the whole being almost in love with him thing a bit of a snag in your plan.
But it kept unwanted advances off both of you, and even if the veteran was a hoarder, living together was nice. You had protection even when he was away.
So yeah, you're happy with the way things are, even if some of it isn't as real as you'd like.
You're at work when a group of eight heavily armed men enter the mom and pop dinner you help your family run.
Everyone immediately decides you are the sacrafice to be their waitress. No one would be stupid enough to hurt you. And if they were, you were the best protected.
"Welcome to Celene's Diner. Can I get you boys started with something or just waters while you check over our menus?" You smile your most convincing customer service smile as you set down eight menus.
"You have coffee, yes?" The oldest and most intimidating of the bunch asks.
"I'd have to mutiny myself if we didn't, " you smile, "So a coffee?"
"Please."
"Water is fine," five or so chorus.
"Do you got apple juice?" Asks the youngest looking.
"And cider, house specialty."
"Hm, can I get an apple ckder?"
"Sure thing! Hot or cold?"
"Cold please. No ice."
"Of course. And you sir -" You turn to the last person and freeze.
Why didn't you recognize him immediately is beyond you. That's Link!
Who's been missing for two months. The asshole.
"What about me, angel?" He smiles at you smugly, proud of the glare he earns.
"You, Sir, get nothing until you explain where in the name of Hylia you've been."
The others all choke a little bit.
"I got pulled into another quest."
"There's always another quest." You groan, "I'll bring you your usual."
You walk off to go get their drinks, leaving a baffled group of men staring at Legend.
"Who was that?" Wind asks, already a fan of you based only on your interactions with Legend.
"(Y/n)."
"They seem close to you." Time says, his actual meaning very clear.
"Don't start that." Legend says sharper.
"Your drinks." You say as you come back over with a smile - a real one this time. Getting to see Link makes everything somewhat better.
You set down the waters before giving the eldest a coffee, the youngest a cider.
"Thank you." They all chorus.
You set down Legend's favorite tea in iced form, sweetend to his tastes.
"Thanks, angel."
"Anytime, love." You smile easily. Whether it's real or not, you always like the way he flushes at the nickname.
Legend just rolls his eyes, taking a sip from his glass.
"(Y/n)!" Your aunt calls.
"I'll be back to take your all's order soon." Ypu smile as you leave again to go see what your aunt needs.
"We'll be waiting!" Legend calls out playfully.
"You must really love them." Warriors says, a knowing grin on his face.
"Course I do." Legend says, not sure how to tell the boys the truth without someone else hearing. "They're my best friend."
"They're more than that Link." Calls your younger sibling from the table beside the group, cleaning up from a different group.
"Shut up kid."
"You know we're still waiting for you and (Y/n) to get engaged, right?"
"Oh my goddess please shut the fuck up."
Wind and Wild just laughs at him, Luke true friends.
"Let them be Legend. They're just excited. "Time says simply, "I bet your wedding will be the event of the century. "
"We aren’t even engaged, please stoooop." Legend groans as he pulls his hat down further.
"Link and (Y/n) sitting in a tree-" your sibling starts only to be cut off as you swat their shoulder.
"Go on, get outta here. Mom says your shift is over stop bothering them." You say, shoving your sibling towards the kitchen.
"You'll have to propose, Link is too chicken!" They call as they leave to the back.
"Sorry about that. Have you all figured out what you want? Or do you need some more time?"
"We'll take eight cesar salads." Legend says, making an executive decision to save face.
"Alright anything else?"
"Mh- you got any raw steak?" Twilight asks, wolf instinct kicking in.
"Why would you ask that? Who keeps raw steaks?" Four snorts.
You smile. "We have steak, I'll put in an order. You want like- raw completely? Or slightly seared?"
"Raw."
"Sounds great I'll have that out as soon as I can."
You leave again, going to put in the orders.
Legend isn't paying any attention to the others, watching you flit about as you gather orders and bring them to people.
You are the most beautiful creature he's ever known. Kind, smart, funny- you're erfect. He just can't believe how much you trsyt him!
He's lost most of the time at the restaurant, including when you drop their food off to thinking about you.
It's not until they're leaving that he's able to pull you into his arms. And then he does, hugging you tightly.
You just hig back, smiling as you let him hold you.
"I missed you, Link." You say, and he's pretty sure he'll never get over how nice his name sounds in your voice.
"I missed you too."
"We'll- meet you at the inn." Time days.
Legend just waves them off, moving so he can kiss your forehead.
"You're staying at the inn?" You asks.
"They are I told them I was staying at my house."
"Good. It'll be nice to have you back home."
"Anyone bother you while I was gone?"
"No. No one ever bothers me these days." Ypu smile, kissing his forehead right back. "Why, you want a fight?"
"Mh, no."
"Get a room!" Your aunt calls from the back.
"Leave us alone!" Legend calls back.
"Take the rest of the day off, go home!" She calls again.
"Let's go." Legend says, "I'd love for you to meet the others."
"They seem nice enough. Though the young one seemed intent on stealing as many spoons as he could."
"You noticed?"
"Yeah."
"Why you let him?"
"I gave him the spoons that we are about to phase out. He was making my life easier."
"You're trouble."
"You mean I'm your trouble."
Legend just rolls his eyes with a snort, letting you put of his arms.
He grabs your hand as you both leave, heading immediately towards your shared home. The need for him to shower and switch out some gear rising.
And you're just happy to be near him. He's always been your main soft spot. Your favorite person to spend time with.
The inside of your house is nothing short of an organized mess. Legend keeps most of his things in the front room in overflowing chests.
The rest of the house is better since it's not nearly as full of a dragon's hoard.
"So, who were the guys you were with?" You ask as you lean against the wall, watching him rifle through his collection.
"Orher heroes of courage."
"That explain the odd names. I guess you don't all wanna call eachother Link."
"Not really no."
"What's your nickname then?"
"Legend, the Veteran, the Collector."
"Not dragon?"
"Stop with that would you?"
You just laugh, something about having him back with you entirely too right.
.......
Legend expects the ribbing, but that dosen’t mean he enjoys it.
He also dosen’t enjoy when he has to explain the situation. He likes to pretend you're both actually together. That this isn't just a long ploy to keep unwanted attention off of you.
"So how long have you been with (Y/n)?" Sky asks curiously.
Legend feels his heart drop into his feet. He swears it's turned to lead when he swallow back the lump in his throat.
"We're not actually together. We just say we are and act like we are. It keeps unwanted attention from both of us."
"Really? You're very convincing then." Hyrule says with a shrug, "they were looking at you the way Malon and Time look at eachother. "
"They were not." Legend says with a firm glare at the fairie boy.
"They were." Time says from his spot at the table.
"And you live together." Wind adds helpfully.
"Of course we do. I'm out sometimes, and who's gonna break into the hero's house? Keeps them safe."
"Oh. You're down so bad." Twilight says before taking a drink of water.
"I am not. (Y/n) has just been my friend since we were both in primary."
"You look at them the way I look at Zelda." Sky says with a raised brow, "Are you sure?"
"Just let it be. Even if I feel that way (Y/n) has not ever felt it."
Warriors just swats the back of Legends head, "Stop being dense and go after them. "
"They don't like me that way."
"You're such an idiot." Warriors says with an eye roll.
"I am not."
"Enough. We can't make Legend ask anyone out." Time cuts in, once again being the voice of reason.
"That's stupid." Wind says as he pulls out a coming to flip as a way of stimming.
"Well, what am I supposed to say? 'Hey angel, I'm head over heels, I hope you feel the same.'? That sounds swful." Legend says as he makes a face.
"I think it'd be fine." Twilight shrugs, "Obviously they care about you a lot. You've been friends since childhood. "
"Just let me die in peace."
"You're not going to die." Hyrule says with a shake of his head, "But you should think about what we've said."
"I will. In my nightmares. "
"Okay."
Legend takes that as his permission to go back to being, upset that you two aren't actually together. It's so unfair.
Maybe if he'd just asked you out to begin with... but you have been fake dating for the last two years.
This is so embarrassing.
He's so fucked.
"-gend." Four's voice cuts in, "Legend?"
"Yeah?"
"We're all headed to bed. It's getting dark out. You said you wanted to stay in your house, right?"
"Right."
"Good night, then."
"Night. "Legend echoes as he watches the others all file out of the room and up the stairs.
He glances to the fire before he pushes to his feet and leaves the inn.
He walks from the inn back to your shared home, keys being fished out of his pocket.
The lamp inside is on. Which is different than usual.
He finds his gaze drawn to you as he leaves the entry way.
You are slumped across the arm of the couch, legs curled to your side on the cushions. You have a book dropped on the floor before you.
"(Y/n)." Legend snorts as he cracks a small smile.
You groan as you hear your name, waking slowly.
"(Y/n)." Legend says again, "Come on you gotta get to bed."
He walks forwards and holds his hand to you as you pry your eyes open.
"Come on." He urges again.
You take Legend's hand and pull yourself to your feet.
He leads you from the living room, down the hall, and up the stairs to get to your room.
He leads you to your bed and pulls the covers back, helping you get settled before pulling the blankets over you.
"Good night, angel."
You are half asleep as you call out "Stay."
Legend blinks, "What?"
"Stay with me." You say again, reaching towards him. "Please."
Legend can't deny you anything, really. Certainly not this.
So he walks to the otherwise side of your bed before toeing off his boots and climbing in.
You turn over and latch onto him immediately.
"Love you." Your voice slurs.
Legend sucks in a breath. You mean it in a platonic way. Not romantic.
He takes a deep breath before ge answers "Love you too, (Y/n)."
And you're already asleep.
Good.
Legend soukd be embarrassed how soft he is with you. He used to be. But he's long since over it. You're his person. He gets to be soft with you.
And maybe one day, you'll be his romantic partner for real. If he's lucky.

Day 1
Pegging with Legend
N/SFW. MINORS DNI.
Tumblr media
“Are you absolutely sure about this?”
The weight of those words were almost has heavy as the weight standing straight between your legs.
“Absolutely.” Your words were weak coming back, too busy staring down at the scene in front of you. Legend laying with his face down into the pillows, his ass up towards you. Your hand ran gently over him, the way his legs shivered at the touch didn’t go unnoticed. “You’re going to be nice and behaved for me, right?”
“If that’s what you want to call it.” A smack ran out across the room, “Y/N, what the fuc-“ Another one followed by a hiss.
“You’re already acting like this? I thought you would at least wait a while. I’m not even in yet.” Another hiss came from his mouth when your thumb ran over his hole. “Now, be a good boy and stay right there.”
You scooted back and away from him, the large pink dildo swinging side to side as you did. Your hands found a bottle of oil and you proceeded to pour it over the bulk in between your legs. Making your way back behind Legend, your now oil coated hands rubbed over each of his ass cheeks, pulling and spreading as you pleased.
“You ready up there?”
A nod came from the man, “Just get on with it.”
A sharp yank of his hair had your lips next to his ear, his back arched into the bed. “I’m doing this to make you feel good, and you have such a damn attitude with me. I guess I am just going to have to fuck it out of you.” Your free hand took the dildo into hand, lining it up with his puckered hole. “And I even chose your favorite color. You know I love pink on you.” You pushed your hips slowly into his ass.
His whole body reacting as the strap on went further and further in. “Y/N- fuck!”
“Shhh, it’s alright, Bunny. I gotcha.” Once your hips were flush against his ass, you stilled. Letting his breathing settle as he adjusted to the new feeling. “Let me know when I can keep going.” You placed a gentle kiss to his shoulder, letting the harsh grip on his hair turn into a softer one as your fingers ran through his hair. A gentle kiss to his shoulder seemed to calm him.
“You- you can move.”
Hips pulled back before pushing back up into him. A small whine, dare you say whimper fell from his lips. You did it again, this time a bit harder. You picked up a steady pace, the sound of your waist hitting against him over and over again filling the room. His dick was dangling freely under him, tip barley brushing against the bed with every thrust.
Sitting up from his back, you placed a hand on each side of his waist, using the leverage to pull him back into you.
“Y/N! Fuck, you have to warn me holy fucking Din’s tits!”
You came to a stand still. “What? I have to warn you when I do this?” You repeated the motion, pulling his hips back at the same time you pushed yours forward.
“Shit! Yeah, that you bi-“ He was cut off by a loud cry when you did it again.
“You really don’t know when to shut up do you?”
He started to reply, but your hips rocking into him made the words die on his tongue.
“I guess I still have some work to do.”

Welcome back! I'd like to request a slice of life drabble where Reader is living with Legend.
Tumblr media
note; i'm not sure if this is what you wanted, feel free to send it again if it's not!
gn! reader, established relationship, pure fluff, soft legend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a reason why the other heroes called your lover “hoarder”, and you couldn’t agree more to that nickname. As much as you loved him, sharing a house with him was something else.
Chests full of dangerous weapons, strange artifacts, many rings with different uses and curses, some instruments he barely touched, a weird mask in the wall… he even kept all of his old hats!
To put it short, his house was a mess.
“Link, we’re going to organize all of this.”
“Wha-”
You didn’t even think of doing it alone, there’s no way Legend would have let you touch things you didn’t even know of without his supervision, so he would help. That way, you wouldn’t have to deal with him complaining about not knowing where things where.
It wasn’t easy to arrange everything in a way the two of you agreed, but you managed in the end. Thanks to your efforts, the house looked like an actual place to rest and live in, rather than some weird warehouse where someone could sleep in.
“Here, you worked hard.” The blond offered you a glass of apple cider, made with the apples that grew near his home. You smiled, taking the drink.
“Thank you for letting me do this, I know you don’t like others touching your things.”
Legend gave you one of his rare, soft smiles, one of his hands caressing the back of yours.
“I trust you. If I didn’t have to worry about cursed items, I’d let you move them freely.”
He was more concerned about you ending up cursed or wounded than accidentally breaking any of the items from his adventures. What if your curiosity won and you tried to play the Harp of Ages? No one knows what could happen to you if he left you alone with all that mess.
“That means a lot.” Your lips touched his warm cheek, and you could feel his smile grow before he hid it with his free hand.
“Mhm. Well, I hope you can take care of everything here when I can’t. Goddesses know that Ravio might try to rent my items one day.”
It was unlikely, but never impossible. The lorulian could be quite unexpected and, although the veteran trusted him to take care of his things when you weren’t around, he preferred to ask you instead.
Thanks to you, Legend actually felt like that house was his home. A place he shared with you, one where you could wait for him if he had to go on another adventure, and one to come back to.

How about legend and four with a reader who is seen by others as a boy because of his haircut? Like they cut it when they were in guard training or whatever from their hyrule, and the boys see the girls trying to flirt, without knowing that it's not a man? Feel free, just a stupid idea
Four and legand x kinda masc F! Reader / gender-fluid
OMGGGGGG first of all I just wanna say thank you for this request I never thought that I would get a request from one of my fav story makers!! BTW LOV YOUR DARK LINK STUFF :D
(Reader is going to be mostly like shuri from black panther movies and a bit non cannon reactions from characters😔)
Btw sorry this took so long seasonal depression hit me like a truck over the past few weeks:
Tumblr media
~~~
Only just yesterday you finally decided it was time to cut your hair after a while of letting it grow all the way down to your waist. When you finally came out of the inn you and the chain were staying at for a while in gerudo town in wilds world you were almost unrecognizable at first. The only reason they actually knew it was you is because twi sniffed your sent from a mile way.
Wind: “wow I almost didn’t recognize them at first!” 😦
Time: “I don’t think any of us did wind.”
Four: “well he’s got a point- uh… and thei r gone.”
Legand: “great..”
You literally just dashed out of there going to the up draft before taking off the go find riju and hopefully train with her for a while. You eventually found her in north gerudo ruins training on dummies again and you both agreed to battle each other for a bit of training. Little did you know that four and legand were looking for you in gerudo town thinking you’ll be there..
(Yeah I’m doing a lot of time skips because I’m getting a mind grain😬)
—————————
After around 3-4 hours of training with ruji (Btw ruji was the only one that recognized you straight away) you both decided to head to the town hoping the see the chain their already and only after the first few minutes of you both walking into town you started getting stairs and people whispering..
“Did ruji let in an another voe already?”
“Most likely but he’s cute in my opinion.”
Once you heard the vais say that you started giving ruji a side eye like your telling her “let’s bounce” but before you could even take another step a group of vai walked up to you and started commenting how you looked or how strong you were (not like they knew)
While the crowd was just getting larger and ruji was just trying to get you away from there you saw four and legend, and legend looked like he was about to beat the shit out of someone but he somehow kept his composer dragging you out of there in a instant with four watching
“You vai know that’s a female right?”
Four yelled into the crowd making everyone but ruji stunned as they were both pulling you back to the chain
“Never again..”
They both said almost in sync while you just nodded
“Fine fine… bozos-“
“Hey!”
~~~~~
Ye so uh that’s the end I might make a part two after Christmas but ye-
Requests are still open and I’m posting my ais on here so wait up for that and pokepasta stufffffff
BTW STILL LOVE UR STORIES AND THANKS FOR THE REQUEST😁

Ohh that was fun to write! Legend really fits this trope perfectly!!!
Be prepared. This is a long one as in, I wrote a 10-page essay. I went completely overboard and I loved every second of it.
I hope you like it! And it's what you had in mind.
@d4-b1 you wanted a tag👀
[Navigation]
Tumblr media
You were annoyed. In fact, annoyed was a heavy understatement. Furious would have been a better description.
You glanced sideways to the object of your fury. Legend.
He had picked on you the entire day, without a pause and it really got on your nerves quick.
Ever since you had joined the group he had been a prick, calling you names, calling you weak. So you threw the treatment right back.
You simply couldn’t stand him.
The group was done with your bullshit as well. Having fallen back, to bring as much distance between themselves, you and Legend as they could.
You locked eyes with the Veteran when he glanced your way, snarling at you while you gave him the finger.
Huffing in irritation, you quietly whispered to yourself. “I swear one of these days I’m going to roll my eyes so hard I’m going to go blind.”
You were tired and your legs hurt from traveling the entire day. You didn’t get enough breaks due to unsuitable resting locations. It has been a day for sure.
The sun had already started to set when Time finally declared it was time to set up camp. You groaned louder than you’d have to, but it let a bit of tension escape your system.
“Quit your whining. If a little bit of walking is already too much for you, you shouldn’t have come through the portal.”
The tension was back.
“Excuse me?” You turned towards Legend, who glared at you again.
The others around you already giving each other looks. The next argument was about to start.
Legend rolled his eyes and waved you off. “You’re excused.”
You gasped, already taking offense before pinching the bridge of your nose. “Go buy a personality.”
You got your bedroll from your bag, shaking it out until it got ripped from your hand, an angry Legend now right in your face. “What did you say?”
You glared at him, taking your bedroll back, shoving the Veteran out of your way. “Nice try. You’re about as intimidating as a butterfly. Leave me alone.”
You could visibility see him shaking of anger, but he didn’t say anything else when you rounded him and placed your bedroll as far away from his as you could. Afterwards you proceeded to get comfortable against a tree, pulling out your favorite, worn down book, waiting for the food to be ready.
The sun hadn’t disappeared behind the horizon yet when dinner was ready. Wild was handing out bowls of stew, which you gladly took. “Thanks Wild.”
Then the conversations started and you overheard Legend throwing insults at your battle skills the more time went by. He was intentionally provoking you. And it angered you greatly.
You wanted to ignore him. You really did. But you couldn’t. “Please be quiet, I can’t even hear myself losing the will to live.”
This time Legend rolled his eyes. “I would call you an imbecile but that would be cruel as you wouldn’t be able to spell it.”
You scoffed. “Says the one who’s been living on the road, you rat.”
Leaning back comfortably, you put your attention back onto your book, but the Veteran kept interrupting you in different ways. Be it another insult or something that got thrown your way by ‘accident’.
Snapping your book shut with a loud slapping sound, your eyes nearly drilled holes into Legends face. “You interrupt my reading once more and this book will become a lethal weapon.”
Apparently, this was threat enough for him to keep his mouth shut for the rest of the night.
Tumblr media
The following morning it was peaceful. Thankfully Legend was too tired to get on your nerves first thing after waking up.
You hadn’t slept well and definitely weren’t up to deal with the bane of your existence right now. Traveling at the very back of the Chain to keep your distance and maybe have just one day without constant arguing.
You could already feel a headache forming. Sky, who was walking in front of you noticed and fell back a little. “Hey, you good?”
You gave him a little smile, waving him off. “I’m fine just a headache.”
“Leave them be. If they can’t even keep up they don’t belong here.” It was Legend.
Sky frowned, “Hey. Be nice!” then proceed to turn back to you. He cringed. You already looked exhausted and now it only got worse. Slowly backing away he speed walked towards Time, telling him to take a break. This fight wouldn’t end nicely.
“Remember when I asked for your opinion?” Glaring at him your balled your hands into fists. “Yeah. Me neither.”
The others cringed at your tone of voice. You were already on edge, this wouldn’t end well.
Before Legend could say anything else, though, Time stepped in. “Enough. Whatever is going on here right now is over.” He had a pointed look, fixating the both of you.
You just nodded, not in the mood to deal with more, leaving for the front to walk between Twilight and Warriors who gave each other worried glances. They didn’t get to ask questions, though.
Wild came back from exploring a little further away. “There’s a dungeon ahead!” Stopping at Time’s side, he continued. “We should check it out.”
Time thought about it and nodded. “We should. Even if there’s nothing important in there at least we’ll get rid of the monsters inside.”
You weren’t exactly happy about this decision, but at least you could blow off some steam fighting blins.
The dungeon was dark. Only dimly lit by torches.
“It smells in here.” It was Winds voice. You snorted. “Maybe you should take a bath more often then.” He laughed, hearing the jest in your voice. “Hey!”
Your snickering got interrupted when one of the boys cursed. “A MECHANISM GOT TRIGGERED! WATCH OUT!”
On high alert your eyes scanned the tunnel for any attacks, yelping when the floor beneath your feet slid open, swallowing you whole.
Tumblr media
You were tumbling through some kind of tube, until you took a free fall and landed on the hard ground beneath you, groaning in pain.
You had just sat up again when something, or rather someone landed on top of you. The same pained groan you made earlier, leaving their lips. At the same time you cursed, as the air got knocked out of your lungs.
“Get off me…” you whined. It was pitch black in the room. You couldn’t even see your hand in front of your face. It made your heart rate spike. You hated the dark.
The weight lifted itself off of you with a grunt. “Great. It’s you.” Apparently it was Legend who fell on top of you. “Time? Captain?” He asked into the nothingness. No answer. The Veteran grumbled in annoyance. “Great. We’ve got separated. And of course I have to be stuck with the idiot.”
His voice sounded close. At least you weren’t alone in this darkness. He still irked you. “You have your entire life to be a jerk. Why not take today off?”
He made a dismissive sound. “Fuck you.”
You didn’t respond to that, instead your hands got busy searching for your bag, there were torches in there. But as your hands slid along your belt, you found it empty. “Shit. I lost my bag. It must be somewhere in here.”
You tried to ignore the panic that started to settle in your bones. You’ve never done well in the dark.
You heard shuffling near you. “Mine fell off when I landed.” The shuffling continued as Legend seemed to look for the lost bag.
“What if there’s more of these mechanisms in here?!”
Legend sighed in exaggeration. “Stop being a coward, drama queen. It’s just another dungeon.”
Your breath became shorter, your heart beating up your throat, already feeling the panic attack coming.
Hearing Legend crawl around at least stopped the ringing in your ears for a bit. He got closer. His quiet cursing gave him away.
“It’s so fucking dark in here.”
His voice was right next to you when a loud rattle of a chain startled you. Jumping what felt like 10 feet in the air until you scrambled to cling onto the first thing your hands could find. Unluckily, it was the Veterans' arm. “Hey! Fuck o-“
“Please-“ your voice was shrill and trembled. “Please just stop being a jerk once in your life, Link.”
“Oi-“
It became harder and harder to breathe, your body slowly starting to shake like your voice did. You were having a full blown panic attack. “I can’t breathe.”
“Y/n-“
You shook your head quickly. “I need to get out of here,” you let go of Legend, wanting nothing more than to find a wall to guide you out of here.
A hand grabbed your wrist, a terrified yelp leaving your lips when you got pulled back.
“Y/n listen to me.” Legend sighed deeply. “Don’t be stupid. Panicking isn’t gonna help us get out of here.”
His hands found your shoulders. “I need your stubborn ass to listen to me this once, ok?” The Veteran sounded hesitant.
You were just able to squeak out a small mhm.
“I need you to breathe with me.” You heard him inhale. “In.” Legend exhaled. “and out. OK?” Another minhale. “In.” Exhale. “And out.”
You mirrored him. Your mind slowly becoming clearer as your heart rate slowed down to a normal beat. After one last exhale, you hung your head low.
“You good?”
You sniffed and rubbed sweat off your cheek with the back of your hand. “Yeah…”
“Alright, we gotta find our bags. Do you think you can do that?”
You hummed, furrowing your brows when Legend didn’t let go of your wrist. This felt so surreal. Legend didn’t act like Legend at all. But right now you sure as hell won’t complain.
Together you crawled around the dungeon’s floor until Legend spoke up again. “There we go.”
You could make out the sound of buckles being loosened and leather being stretched, accompanied by the clanking of glass bottles. He had found his bag.
Soon after, a flame ignited, revealing Legend holding his flame rod. The sudden light made you flinch involuntary.
Legend had never seen you this afraid, silently watching as you looked around the room and scrambled towards your pouch once you’ve spotted it. Instantly pulling out a torch, lighting it on fire. He wondered what had made you this scared of the dark.
It seemed you had something in common after all. He hated darkness as well. It was unsettling.
When your torch was lit, you looked around the room you were in. You couldn’t make out a door anywhere. And it was too dark to see every at the same time.
Your eyes traveled back towards Legend, who was sitting on the floor, still looking through his bag with his lips pressed into a thin line.
You looked away quickly when he glanced your way. You hated how vulnerable you showed yourself to him. But you begrudgingly had to admit he helped you. Big time.
Your hand shoves a Potion back into your pouch, closing your eyes with a heavy sigh.
“Thank you…”
Legend perked up, looking at you with confusion and surprise.
You shrugged, keeping your gaze glued to the floor. “For helping me…”
The Veteran made a dismissive noise, waving you off. “Don’t mention it.”
Getting onto your feet, your knees cracked in a not so satisfying way, making you cringe. “We need to find a way out…” your torch didn’t light up enough of the room to make out an exit, neither did Legends fire rod.
At least there weren’t any monsters here.
Both of you have just dusted yourselves off, looking around the walls for an archway or a door, when you could make out your names being called from behind.
“WE’RE HERE!” Legend was faster than you, turning around to head towards the calls. Yet he waited for you until you caught up. He didn’t even make a snarky remark.
“There you are! We were looking everywhere for you two!” It was Hyrule stepping forward, out of the group, giving Legend a once over. The Veteran slapped his hands away and pointed behind himself at you.
“Take care of that one. Idiot’s in shock. Scared of the dark. Pathetic.”
You winced a little. He was back to being a complete asshole. Hyrule approached you with a concerned expression. “Are you ok?” You took the hand he offered. “Yeah… just... tired…”
The rest of the dungeon was cleared fast, and you were glad you had the whole group to rely on.
Falling asleep instantly once your head hit your bedroll when you could set up camp outside again.
Tumblr media
It had been a while since the dungeon incident, and Legend and you still kept on fighting as if nothing had happened.
“If you had a brain, maybe you'd be able to understand these tactics.”
The both of you were at it again. His last statement offending you. Hitting close to home. “Oh yes, because you are so great. Listen here, road rat. Being street smart isn’t something unique. You’re just being an ass again!”
“Fuck you!”
“Fuck you!”
With that, both of you turned on your heels, heading the opposite direction of the other. Away from camp, away from the prying eyes of the others.
Your feet brought you to a small creek nearby, sitting down by the edge of the water, you pulled your knees to your chest.
A bark sounded from behind you, making you turn your head slightly. It was the Wolf, approaching carefully as if he was afraid you’d run away.
You gave him a sad smile. “Oh Wolfie.” You scratched behind his ears when he sat down beside you, leaning against your legs. “I don’t know what to do.”
Wolfie looked at you, tilting his head as you kept on ranting, burying your hands in the dirt next to you. “He’s insufferable! Why does he always have to get on my nerves? It’s like provoking me is his only hobby. And then he even has the audacity to be smug about it! Him and his stupid smirk in his stupid, handsome looking face!”
You scoffed, throwing a hand full of pebbles into the water before you. “I just can’t get him off my mind, it’s driving me insane-“ you paused, eyes wide in horrified realization. “Oh my God.”
You rushed to get back to your feet and started to pace back and forth. The Wolf staring at you in confusion. “No no no no No No No NO NO” Your hands buried themselves in your hair, pulling in frustration. “This can’t be happening!”
Falling back to your knees, you threw your arms around the large Wolf. “This is horrible. Wolfie, I like him! I can’t like him, I’m supposed to hate him! He’s a prick!” You sobbed into his fur. “I don’t want to like him... What am I supposed to do?!”
You had been sitting with Wolfie for a while. Pondering and fighting with yourself. You were scared. “How do I get rid of this…” You refused to acknowledge your feelings. You’d take them, lock them in a drawer in the back of your mind and throw them off a cliff.
“We should go back. The others are probably worrying about us already.”
A bark was your answer, then you got up and slowly strolled back to camp.
You refused to make eye contact with anyone when you arrived. You were the first one to come back it seemed. Grateful for it, you snatched your bedroll and went to sleep after mumbling to Wild that you weren’t hungry and he didn’t need to cook for you. That earned you more than one worried pair of eyes flying your way.
You fell asleep fast, trying to escape everything that happened today.
Legend arrived soon after you had fallen asleep, taking the food Wild offered with a grumble. He eyed you for a second before his eyes squinted and his mood got worse, taking the bowl and leaving camp yet again.
Sky and Hyrule frowned. “He hates them…”
“No. He doesn’t.” It was Twilight’s voice that came from behind them, soon after the rancher emerged from the bushes. “Not really.”
His gaze went towards your sleeping form, a sad tinge filling them. “They just make him feel things that he’s claimed don’t exist.”
The rancher wiped his hand on his tunic. “We just gotta give em some time.”
Tumblr media
After this evening the fights only got worse. More harsh, mean. You as well as Legend exploded at each other even more than before, things escalating almost immediately as you tried to deny what your heart told you it wanted.
You were yet again snapping at Legend, after another hurtful remark about your intelligence. “Why does everything have to be a struggle with you?”
Legend sneered. “Bite me.”
“Eat me.”
“Kiss my ass.”
More often than not, the group had to get in between before you’d be at each other’s throat.
Tumblr media
And then there was Time, who seemed to have a blast to add to the tension.
“WHAT!?”
You and Legend yelled in unison.
“You heard me. We’ve got all the roles set. Get into the mansion, get the item, and get out to bring it back to where it belongs. And you two will be the distraction, so we can sneak inside without anyone noticing.”
You laughed unamused. “So you want us to act like a couple? Dancing and all that stuff?” You crossed your arms. “Time you I know I respect you greatly… but are you fucking nuts? I won’t do shit with that street rat.”
“Neither will I, you child of a Moblin.”
Time raised his brow with a sly grin. “You will. After all, you’re the only ones that fit in the fancy clothes.” His tone of voice didn’t accept a no.
With a hiss, you walked past the old man, leaving a fuming Veteran behind. “I’ll remember this, Time.”
The old man waved you off.
Tumblr media
You had rented some rooms of an Inn to prepare.
It was the evening, the boys had just finished up everything they needed for the quest.
A knock sounded right when you were done getting ready. “Come in.”
It was Warriors, here to escort you to the others. “Wow. You look beautiful.”
You took his hand with a snort. “Flattery will get you nowhere. I’m still angry.”
The captain cringed a little but didn’t comment on it, instead walking down to the main room where the others were already waiting. Whistles and compliments falling from everyone’s lips. Well. Everyone’s but one.
You’ve arrived at the mansion fast, talking through the plan one last time until the group left you and Legend alone to sneak toward the side entrance.
Of course as soon as they left Legend started insulting you again, holding out his arm to take. “You still look like shit.”
You were tired. You both were. At least Legend looked like he could use a nap too.
A scoff was you answer, grabbing his arm and walking slowly towards the main entrance. “And you still look very punchable, you prick.”
Distracting the guards wasn’t too hard. A little small talk was already enough to help the other sneak in successfully.
The ballroom was huge and packed with people as you and Legend were headed for the dance floor.
Just as you placed your hand on Legends shoulder to dance, you whispered under your breath. “I can’t believe they’re making us do this. This is so stupid.”
“Shut up. The faster the others are done the faster we can leave.”
He guided you to the beat of the music, swaying and twirling you throughout the whole dance floor.
You had no idea he was a this good of a dancer, but he was way too rough with you. “I can’t stand you.”
Legend rolled his eyes. “At least we’re sharing one opinion. And if you dare stand on my foot once, I will drop you on the floor.”
You scowled, pulling him closer to whisper in a low tone. “Your ass must be jealous of all the shit that comes out of your mouth. I'm a perfectly fine dancer, thank you very much.”
His hand squeezed yours painfully, “Ouch!” a dangerous glint in his eyes. “Watch what you’re saying Idiot. I’m not the useless one here. I can fight, and I’m capable of clearing dungeon’s on my own. What can you do?”
Oh, now he wanted to hit you where it hurt. He knew you’ve never had any training in combat and struggled with keeping up with the battle skills of the others.
You sneered silently. “I’m trying my absolute hardest to see things from your perspective, but I just can’t get my head that far up my ass.”
Legend had thrown you into a dip as the song ended and was already opening his mouth to keep arguing when a huge explosion went off.
You flinched head snapping towards the noise, then back to Legend who looked at you with the same expression of surprise.
Then panic broke lose.
“INTRUDERS! SEARCH THE CROWS!”
Dread filled your guts when you saw guards entering the crowd, a yelp leaving your system when Legend pulled you along by your wrist, disappearing into one of the hallways next to the ballroom. “We have to get out of here!”
Legend ran as fast as he could. You hot on his heels. The faint footsteps of guards behind you.
Just as you looked back to check where the guard were, you heard Legend open a door, shoving you in and slamming it shut right after.
It was cramped in there, the room just being a small broom closet.
You were out of breath, leaning against the cold stone wall behind you, as you tried to listen for the footsteps that had followed you.
“This is your fault.” Legend whispered in an accusing tone of voice.
“My fault? How is this my fault?!” You glared at the Veteran. “I didn’t decide we’d do this whole shitty steal the Item bullshit.”
Legend growled at you. “If you ran faster we would have made it out easily. But you’re just as bad at running as you are in combat.”
“Can you stop belittling me for once.” You were fed up with his comments, they hurt. “What the hell is wrong with you Legend?!” You slapped his chest to accentuate your anger. The broom closet didn’t leave much room to dodge.
“I’m fucking tired that’s what’s wrong!” He got angry now too, getting right into your face.
“That’s not my fault, asshole! If you’re so tired you should maybe get your head out of your ass and sleep instead of blaming others for everything that happens to you, you prick!”
Legends hand slammed into the wall next to your head, making you jump, then he leaned in close. Too close for comfort. An enraged expression on his features.
“Well, maybe if you weren’t so goddamn beautiful I’d finally get some rest and stop thinking about you. But no. On my mind 24 fucking 7.”
You both froze, eyes wide, shock clearly evident on both of your faces.
He clearly hadn’t planned on letting this slip.
Legend licked his lips, swallowing heavily. Your eyes following the movement, as he watched your every move like a hawk.
You suddenly felt shy under his intense gaze, glancing to the side to escape it. Blinking a few times to clear your thoughts, you needed a few tries until you’ve found your voice again.
“I thought…” you swallowed thickly. “I thought you hate me.”
Your eyes met his again. They were half lidded and filled with an emotion you culdn’t quite pinpoint yet.
He leaned in more, his lips coming dangerously close to yours. “…things change…”
He had given up resisting his heart.
Just as his lips were about to touch yours, you panicked, pushing your hands against the Veteran’s chest to stop him.
“Legend I-“ you could find the words, hands gripping the fabric of his party clothes until your knuckles turned white.
“What?” His other hand came up to dry the tears you didn’t realize, spilled over your cheeks. “What is it?”
He looked as scared and unsure as you felt.
You took a shaky breath, your eyes captivating his, letting him drown in their beautiful color.
“I think I’m in love with you…” your gaze fell, locking onto his chest. “….and it scares me.”
He flinched at your words, knowing exactly why. He had never been kind to you ever since you joined the group, desperately fighting the feelings you brought to life.
His hands found their way to your face, tilting it up so you had to look at him. A pained expression on his features. “I know I haven’t been kind to you.“ his thumb wiped a few more tears away. “and I know I’ve been a prick and don’t have the right to ask for forgiveness or anything else.”
Legend ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “but I’ve tried to deny it for so long and I’m sick of it.”
By now he was so close, that Legends body was pressing yours against the wall behind you.
Your hands slowly unclenched from his clothes, his coming up to wrap around your wrists as if he was afraid you’d disappear any moment.
He could feel how fast your heart was beating.
“But we’ve always fought.” You sniffled. “And we’ve said such mean things to each other.” Your desperate gaze met his. “How is this ever going to work?”
Legends hands guided yours back onto his chest, pressing them flat against it so you could feel his racing heartbeat.
Your lips trembled. “Legend, what are we?”
He tilted his head, looking at you with so much guilt and love you could start crying all over again.
“I could be yours.” He pressed a kiss to your cheek.“ And you could be mine.” A kiss to the other.
Then he looked at you through half lidded eyes, leaning closer again, his breath hitting your lips lightly as his hands gently pressed yours against his chest for the second time.
“I guess our hearts don’t lie, huh?”
Legends lips brushed against yours, waiting for an answer.
“No…” you whispered and closed your eyes. You were done resisting as well. “They don’t.”
His lips pressed against yours with a passion you never knew Legend could possess. They were soft and tasted faintly like the honeyd candy he loved to eat.
The kiss felt amazing, but it wasn’t the stereotypical feeling of fireworks you’ve read about in books. It was slower, more intense. It was like molten lava. Hot, steady and unstoppable.
Your hands found their way into Legends hair as he pulled you even closer by your hips, nipping at your lower lip to gain better access.
You were drowning in each other’s embrace, finally able to let out all the tension, not breaking the kiss even though you slowly felt the need for air.
The door behind Legend got ripped open, both you and him breaking the kiss, heads whipping towards the doorway, heads turning the shade of ripe apples.
There stood the rest of the chain, staring at you in utter disbelief. Sky and Twilight were the first ones to come out of shock and started cheering.
“Finally!” “I thought they’d never stop being oblivious idiots.”
Soon the rest of the chain joined in.
You hid your face in Legends chest, embarrassed after being caught making out. Legend just stared at the unwanted audience, trying to process what the hell just happened.
“Come on. We took out the guards while you were…” Time gave a smirk. “busy. We can leave safely now.”
The Veteran groaned, the sound vibrating inside his chest and against your face, still hidden there.
Legend let go of you as the others started to leave, waiting for you get out of your hiding place, then proceeding to walk beside you in awkward silence.
You kept glancing at each other, a new kind of shy nesting in your chests after the previous events.
Legends hand brushed against yours, making you look down at them, slowly intertwining your fingers.
You smiled at each other.
It was awkward, it felt weird and it definitely wasn’t something any of you had expected.
It would be hard to get over what happened in the past. And there surely were many fights yet to be fought. After all, breaking habits wasn't easy.
But it was a start.
And it was worth a try...
