Not so friendly reminder that curseforge is directly supporting the genocide in Palestine and we urge cc creators and modders to stop using the site immediately. Thank you.
We might make a directory of creators that still use it and other ways to get their content.

It has come to our attention that EA has officially came out against permanent paywalls!!!!! Creators can still profit off their content as long as they are also made free to the public, like we’ve been saying this whole time *cough cough*
You may now direct creators who don’t follow those guidelines to this statement:
Tumblr media
For more information: https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/mods-and-the-sims-4-game-updates/
Thank you to everyone who did their part by sending a ticket or reaching out to a guru, this is a big deal. Glad EA is finally doing something about a huge portion of the CC creator communities exploitative practices.

this is not really an ask to do a callout but more as something i’ve noticed. since when it’s acceptable for cc creators to block content behind a paywall for a whole month? and sometimes it’s even more than that. i’ve seen the own sims 4 community say it should be max like 2 weeks and yes i know people gotta pay their bills, but some of this is riduculous. some examples of this are obscurus and northen siberia sims.
Yes we've seen this for a long time now. And many people have decided now that 3 weeks is now the accepted time frame for early access. Which is still pretty long in our opinion.

Hello! This is an important message for anyone who reblogs Sims stuff. There is a post going around from 2018 with the title at the top "Sims 4 Extracted Icons Master Post". This post contains a link to the original Luniversims site, which has been taken over by hackers. This can be read about on Luniversims official Twitter, it is the pinned post at the top. It seems that Tumblr has blacklisted their old site, but they haven't removed the post or reblogs of the post. Now, accounts are being terminated for sharing it. The original post was by the account mystickylightcolor.
I urge people to share this information and delete this if you have reblogged it in the past, people who may reblog it from you will have their blog terminated.
Thanks for the heads up!

Cowbuilds statement on IG
How cute they are coordinating responses. So a few problems with this. As we laid out in Leo’s post, this was alway EAs stance so paywalling sims content and package files prior to July 21st is against TOS.
Second, Cowbuild and alot of her friends repeatedly violates the positive play charter by stealing companies models and that whole doxxing fiasco.
The community can still report her for all those violations.
Third they also will have to be careful how they market their content because they often use sims assets in their photos. If they are now just selling 3d models but using sims assets in their promotion that’s not exactly the best look legally. But I’m sure their lawyer informed them of that. Will they continue to use sims 4 hashtags or say it’s for the sims 4? That remains to be seen.
Not sure if their little work around will matter because it’s very obvious what they are doing and now that it’s crystal clear that EA is not ok with it the optics will be pretty bad. There actions will be interpreted as sketchy even if they try to spin it.
Newsflash Cowbuild, this whole anti paywall dialogue is getting traced back to you. Just take a look at twitter or Reddit every thread is like oh I bet this is because of all the crazy sh*t Cowbuild pulled. Keep it up, see how far it gets you.
CC tumblr’s stop promoting these sketchy people who obviously have no concern for the rules of the community. Same for Youtubers. If either do the community should remind them they do not follow EAs TOS. Moreover they are now 3d modelers they have no business being promoted in our community any longer
Similarly Patreon can’t keep sitting on the fence, now that EA has clarified their stance.
The early access and the rest of the community really needs to take a stand against paywallers who refuse to comply. They are the ones that brought the hammer down it’s important that they are chased out if they refuse to comply, because what’s next? Mods aren’t supported all together? Donations aren’t allowed? How much will we as a community allow them to f*ck up? Seriously? Early access creators hopefully you’re sharpening your pitchforks because these weirdos are to blame for your bag getting taken away.

In the midst of all our celebrating the death of paywalls, we think it’s super important to remind you that a lot of creators who were following the guidelines laid out by Drake are in a really precarious situation right now. If you can, please support your favorite early access creator or free creator with a donation. If you can’t monetarily support them, maybe start signal boosting their content. They earned it! There are so many who add so much to this game who truly deserves this community’s gratitude. It’s easy to get caught up in pointing and laughing at all the a-holes who have been taking advantage of the community for so long but let’s also take this as an opportunity to uplift creators that give back to it.

thoughts on Oshinsims locking up content for over a month?
hm greedy behaviour but not surprising when you see who she collabed with. It's unfortunate because I personally used to love her videos but she has had some shady behaviour in the past other than this recent thing.

Nightingale Sims just made a very weird statement, she didn't understand anything, or she is just toxic like the others (she does early acess)
Hey, let's talk?
For those who don't understand anything, follow the end of the post I'll leave some links explaining the situation!
So... Let's go!
The following is! Like all creators, or most of them here on patreon, I survive with your subscription! I'll be very direct, because I really have everything to lose, if this all comes to an end!
I see a lot of comments about this whole situation involving the new content trading policy for TS4 and I really never thought it would get to this point! People wishing you doom, laughing as if it were something banal, but it means the food of many of us! This is so dirty, I couldn't believe how ROTTEN these people are!
From EA I already expected the worst, although, in my naive mind, I didn't have the "worst" parameter to imagine how dirty they could be for us!
To those who support this new EA policy bullshit, my heartfelt fuck you!
We never force you to subscribe to our content! I have never shared exclusive content! And never would! But your greedy little ass couldn't wait 15/20 days to get the content publicly, could it? Well, fuck you! I can't thank you guys, I never had your support, I didn't have a penny from you in the food I ate during the month and not even in my household bills, you guys are trash! And I'm just referring to you guys who are celebrating with all this shit, who are happy to take the shit out of the right that made me have enough to eat every day, who made me buy my computer so I could work harder. YOU! GO FUCK YOU!
To everyone who has supported me during these 2 years of patreon, THANK YOU SO MUCH! They made me feel fulfilled for being able to work with what made me happy, with what I liked to do! I never thought this was possible, and it was! All Thanks to you!
I don't know what it will be like from now on, I don't know if I'll be able to offer my content publicly since I'll have to find a way to make money or I'll have to sell everything I can to continue surviving with a minimum!
I'll be sharing my content this month only and depending on how this snowball behaves, we'll be back in the following months. If things get any worse, I'll be giving myself an ultimatum that The Sims is no longer for me! The community is inhumane garbage and those that are worth it are few!
Again, thank you very much! I'll keep you posted throughout the week!
Apparently this post was already deleted but what is with these creators insulting their supporters? Not everyone can financially support you! It doesn’t mean they don’t like, share or recommend your content. Insulting them doesn’t change anything. This also completely glosses over the fact that we had a serious problem in this community with doxxing and permanent paywalls. EA didn’t put out a help article because people were complaining about Early Access. It was because of crazy stuff paywallers were doing. Today apparently is the day of unhinged posts from Early access creators good lord.

Chewybutterfly basically just doxxed someone for unsubbi g their Patreon lol called out someone who was choosing to be anonymous by first name, when they were trusted with that info on Patreon to not share that data .. wtf is wrong with these people. All this after she ranted about how she isn't in it for the money like ok well clearly you're still a psychopath creator then who's petty enough to dox ppl that piss them off????
Surprising that she turned around and did this when she acted like she ‘wasn’t in it for the money’
Update here are the Screenshots, we censored for privacy:

For the good of the community
We apologize for the delay, a couple of us have been dealing with personal stuff, and we also had to figure out some things internally. We wanted to make sure that we were able to dedicate an appropriate amount of time and bandwidth to this post even if it was a few days late. Thanks for allowing us to do that. We’ve tried to remain laser-focused on bringing awareness to the bad behavior of shady creators and not speak on much else as we felt it would distract and detract from that, but the past few days have made that no longer an option.
First, we want to fully denounce the actions of both Sunny/Mack3030 and Simvault. It was truly stunning the amount of damage they both have done to this movement with their harassment, bullying, microaggressions, racism, and various other damaging actions to this entire anti-paywall community. It is infuriating and enraging that in a matter of 48 hrs. they managed to undo months and months of work from all over the community, through their harassment and micro-aggressions of people in marginalized communities on Twitter.
We acknowledge that Sunny/Mack3030 has done a lot to raise awareness around the issues of paywalls, but it’s clear that she is no longer the person who should be at forefront of this.
For those of you that say that those who hold them accountable are divisive, we must wonder, why are only the people who have decided to voice their opinions on Sunny/Mack3030 and Simvault divisive, but they themselves are not? Simvault whose horrible behavior truly shocked and disgusted our contributors? Mack3030's repeated new and old controversies that feed the narrative that this movement is unjust. Because we bit our tongues and tried to be diplomatic for the "good of the anti-paywall community" this whole time and yet again we are watching another controversy unfold distorting all the good that was done. A controversy that she was an architect of through her endless hypocrisy, impulsivity, need to call out everyone who didn’t fall in line, her increasingly reckless behavior, a lack of regard for others privacy and incessant need to center this whole discussion around herself at every opportunity. We tried that approach to try not to further divide the anti-paywall community and focus on our shared goal, which was misguided.
Lastly, we must ask you if this is who you want as your champion?
Tumblr media
Someone who would've sold out had circumstances been different? That doesn't sound like someone fit to be the figurehead of this. We are no longer associated with Sunny/Mack3030 and with her leaving the anti-paywall community, we hope that we can have continued productive conversations on the abuse of the community by creators.
Thanks for your continued support!

You know what? EA had that policy already , for almost 25 years hun, nothing will change ... Many creators are even ready to fight legally with EA such as Felix. So, you can just keep hoping ...
Ya we’re aware. We’ve been referencing the TOS and EULA and delusional Stan’s like yourself kept saying the TOS didn’t necessarily apply to The Sims. Or that the policy was old or that Guru Drake wasn’t authorized to speak on their behalf and the meaningless excuses they continued to make in order to hoard money from mostly working class players who were unaware of this policy. Cope more. No one cares. EA said it plain as day, it’s not our fault these greedy vultures overstayed their welcome.
If Felix wants to sue a multibillion dollar company over a dying iteration of a franchise, instead of… oh…I dunno…. just following the rules, that says more about him than anything else.

The sims community is filled with the most money hungry people alive.I remember seeing whole DLC like mods created for the witcher that were made with professional voice acting and took the team months to create be released for free. Hell, every mod for nintendo games HAS to be released for free or the modders would get sued for daring to profit off their IP. I can turn my horses into Thomas the tank engine and play as zelda instead for free but these people make us pay $100 for some t-shirt??
This is the only community that acts like this

Creators say they will continue to have their patreon until they get an official or legal letter from EA lol
Of course they did. This seems very on brand for a group of people who violated a TOS of an intellectual property they were profiting off of for years. Yuck.

This is what leosims posted
Hi Everyone
All of our patrons will receive a free model conversion for The Sims 4 in the which they may use as usual in the game. Means, nothing will change for you.
Everyone is confused about some EA statement yesterday about mods and cc cant be monetized. Some creators choose to leave, some choose to ignore as it is a 25 years old policy and it didnt change yesterday. As some creators we took some legal advice. Seems a bit tricky ,but it is legal.
Based on a statement EA made on July 21, 2022, on mods and custom content. I've made the decision, along with other creators, that we will no longer maintain any connection to EA or the Sims franchise. This is our decision after seeking formal legal advice. From this point on, we will only publish and market our 3D models in their original form as sale . All of our patrons will receive a free model conversion for The Sims 4 in the which they may use as usual in the game. Means, nothing will change for you.
All ownership of our 3D models and textures is reserved by us. Additionally, we are permitted by law to transform our 3D models into any other form. We will continue to offer our regular Patreon content that was published before to the statement on July 21, 2022. Last but not least, we want to thank you for all the wonderful support you have given us over the years. Custom content creation takes a lot of time. We do appreciate your understanding and support.
We’d like to remind Leo that leaving their content locked prior to the statement is still in violation of TOS. This was always their policy as we’ve been shouting from the rooftops since this blog was created.
A lot of EA games don’t support mods or sale of mods period. Just because EA clarified that perma paywalling isn’t allowed, which Drake already said years ago, doesn’t mean Leo can ignore that. They also need to change their name as they can no longer have branding that is affiliated with the franchise. This statement was super convoluted. Not sure what to make of it. Sounds like they’re going to try to game to system.

Now that Early Access is back, albeit in probably a worse state than ever. What’s a “reasonable amount of time” 2 weeks? A month? 3 months? A year? *Eye roll*Who knows how long the early access windows will drag on for.
Which honestly we are a little relieved about because we don’t want to start nitpicking every single creator, we generally do like early access as a concept except for those that abuse it, and we’d like to focus on the worst offenders. But we digress. Creators let’s chat for a bit, because the past few days have been a whole mess but….We do hope this whole fiasco was a bit of a wake up call for creators.
You guys need to be preparing when chaos strikes again. It’s not a matter of if but when TS5 is coming, EA might sell, it’s best to be ready. So please creators don’t end up caught off guard like you did this time.
Let’s starts here; you are not owed access to create content for a corporation’s intellectual property ever and more importantly forever. What you have with EA is a gift. No one believes us when we say this but everyone wants to go on about how greedy EA is but their monetization of UGC guidelines is one of the the fairest in the business. It is incredibly rare for developers to not only allow it, but to encourage it and foster it within their community with collabs, features and integrations within the game. Ofcourse there are games like SL, IMVU and few others but those are the exception not the rule. Even other EA games don’t have it as easy as us. EA could’ve completely permanently revoked early access and modders would’ve had no recourse. That is just how IP law works, mods are derivative works, selling them in any form or fashion is exceedingly generous by legal standards. They don’t have to do this. Y’all have been taking this for granted.
Tomorrow isn’t promised today. How much longer realistically will TS4 last?
If you look at modders throughout the multiple iterations of the game there are very few that stuck with it from franchise to franchise. We aren’t sure as to why, perhaps the modders grew bored, found they didn’t have as much passion for the sequel as they did whatever version they were modding for. Who knows but TS4 creators will likely run into similar roadblocks.
TS5 may not be as lenient, they may not allow creators to set their own pricing, or they have their own version of Patreon that takes a much larger cut. NSFW mods and CC may not be allowed. The franchise may not even make it past TS5. How long with TS5 last? It may be beyond your skill set to mod for, you may not even enjoy playing it or modding for it. Maybe your fans won’t follow you over. Maybe it won’t have your aesthetic. What if it doesn’t support mods? Or atleast the type of mods and CC we are so accustomed to seeing in the game, now that there are rumors of it being multiplayer. If it’s multiplayer what does this mean for mods that include adult content, drugs etc since you might end up playing with a 12 year old?? What if it implodes like Simcity did and a once beloved franchise ceases to exist. What if instead of that help article EA just announced TS5 release for 2023 and people just decided it made no sense to keep paying for TS4 cc.
EA is looking to sell. Will their next owner be as lenient on creators? Will they let creators sell mods at all? EA has overseen this community since the TS1, a new owner may not understand the community and culture of community, The Sims. One of the names that got thrown around early on when word of looking for a seller broker was Nintendo. Do you guys know how litigious and non supportive of mods Nintendo is? This isn’t to scare you guys it’s just to say there are so many different variables to show that how it’s been does not mean it will always be this way.
These are all serious questions creators need to ask themselves, and it’s been smooth sailing, but it doesn’t mean it will always be. As the other day proved the rug can be pulled out from under you at anytime. Contingency plans need to be put in place, it’s time to diversify. It doesn’t mean you have to do anything that will take significant time away from modding, but gain experience in other areas that if tomorrow, you lost all your Patrons or EA got bought by a company with an asshole CEO you had somewhere else to go. Another path you have a few hours a week in that you could dive in full time. An escape hatch. Make sure you have an emergency fund, right now when times are good save money, make a nest egg, lots of apps will do this automatically for you in very small incremental amounts like digit and acorn.
Because relying on a huge corporation’s intellectual property as your sole source of income is asking for heartache. The community might not be as sympathetic in 1-3 years when the modding community is inevitably thrown into disarray by EAs TS5 plans. Because unlike this time you guys had a sneak preview of what was to come. So please look out for yourself because no one else will. At the end of the day not your Patrons and certainly not EA will make sure your rent is paid.
By all means ride the gravy train as long as you can but be prepared if the wheels fall off.
