The cross between Fire and Electricity
Warm Light and White light are the first varients there where at begining of the Light Element's life, Warm light is the standard varient of Light and White Light being the "purest" varient, much like how Purple Ice and Blue Fire are concidered pure varients of their respective elements.
After a few years past, and dragons of different elements pairing up with Light dragons, there where eventualy 2 new varients created, those being Cool Light and Black Light. Cool Light came to be from an Ice dragon and a Light dragon pairing and creating new colder varient of Light. Then theres Black Light, which is a Dark Varient first discovered when a Light Dragon had a child with a Dark Dragon, If Light crosses with any of the Dark Elements theres a large chance that the chuld will be of Black Light
The structure of Light can be changed, simaler to how Ice can be shifted from a frost to an icicle. Light can be exhaled as a cluster of "soft" Light that works simaler to wind or fire, able to push an opponent back depending on the mastery and harshnes in which Light was used. Light also has a "layzer" form that can burn holes and tear through skin (with the warm varient being able to coterize wounds)

Here’s my first foray into writing fic for When the Angels Left the Old Country. Many thanks to @anonymousdandelion and the other members of the WTALTOC Discord server for encouraging me, especially to Layzer, earlymorningechoes, and Laser Wolf for beta reading to make sure I got the Jewish aspects right!
Note: this is loosely based on a dream I had where I was reading an illustrated story with the same premise. Also included are approximations of the two illustrations I remember from the dream (although the dream ones were in a different drawing style).
***
It was a fine day in New York City, so Little Ash had persuaded Uriel to come out for a walk with him.  They spent the afternoon exploring some neighborhoods they hadn’t yet visited in the year they had lived on the Lower East Side; Little Ash found several small opportunities for mischief and Uriel talked him out of most of them, so they both felt pleased with their day.
Turning for home in the late afternoon, they walked side by side in silence for a while until Little Ash, whose eyes were always open for such things, noticed quite a number of sins creeping over one of the passersby.  “Look at that man in the checked waistcoat,” he remarked, grinning.  “So much wickedness of his own already, he hardly needs my help, but maybe I should give him a little push?”
He glanced at his chevrusa, expecting it to protest, as usual, that he should not encourage the evil impulse; but the moment he got a good look at it, all thoughts of causing trouble went out of his head.  He had assumed Uriel was silent because it was peacefully listening to the souls around them, as it often did; now he saw that its round face was as drawn and pale as a human after a grueling factory shift.  Its head drooped forward, and it stumbled and swayed as it walked.
Tumblr media
“What’s the matter with you?” Little Ash demanded sharply.  “Did someone hurt you?”  He didn’t like that this was something he had to worry about now, after centuries of trusting that the angel was indestructible, and he certainly wouldn’t have admitted that the extra edge in his voice was due to fear.
Uriel shook its head.  “The rebbe’s… other yahrzeit,” it managed between ragged, panting breaths.  “Today.  Trying to… hold it myself… but it’s too much, Ashel.”
In the privacy of his head, Little Ash comprehensively cursed the rebbe’s memory.  The Shulmans had honored his yahrzeit in the usual way, with a candle and the mourner’s kaddish, five weeks earlier on the day he had been murdered by Reb Fishl; Uriel had been able to provide them with the date, having learned it from the rebbe’s ghost on the ship.
Ever since then Uriel had been fretting, both silently to itself and aloud to Little Ash, about how to acknowledge the day that the rebbe’s dybbuk had gone into the East River along with Mr. Sullivan.  It knew deep in itself that this was every bit as much a death anniversary as the date of the rebbe’s physical death, but didn’t feel it could explain this to his daughter Malke in a way that she would understand.  For once it had found no guidance in the Talmud; the rabbis of past ages had apparently never encountered such a situation.
So of course, Little Ash thought sourly, its solution was to take on itself the entire spiritual responsibility of remembering the dead that was meant to be shared among a family or community.
He sighed and reached for Uriel’s arm, draping it across his shoulders.  “Come on, then,” he said.  “Lean on me before you fall down.  Baruch Shemo it’s not far to Hester Street.”
Uriel sagged gratefully against him.  Little Ash winced involuntarily – Uriel was noticeably taller and heavier than he was, and taking its weight on his shoulder did nothing good for his feet and hips, especially after several hours of walking - but put an arm around its waist to help support it.
“Thought an angel… could do it… alone, maybe,” Uriel mumbled.  “I could have before… if I had the right name.  But remembering… all of someone… too big for one person.  So tired…”
Little Ash made an exasperated clicking sound with his tongue.  “And you didn’t even ask me to help?  Fine, I didn’t like your rebbe much, but I was there.  Closer than you, even, at the end.”
He closed his eyes for a moment and concentrated on his memories of that day a year ago.  The dybbuk inside him, the Holy Names scorching his tongue.  The plunge into the cold river, Mr. Sullivan struggling in his grip.  Feeling the whisper of the rebbe leaving him to cling to Sullivan and be swept downriver with him as Little Ash fought his way to shore.
He heard Uriel gasp.  “Oh,” it said, sounding relieved.  “Oh, that is so much better.”
Little Ash opened his eyes to find it gazing at him in much the same way as it had when he returned, soaked and shivering, to Sullivan’s headquarters where it sat on the steps holding its bleeding shoulder – like he was a miracle all by himself.  The sight improved Little Ash’s own mood considerably.
Uriel gave a weary sigh and let its head fall sideways to rest against his.  “Thank you, Ashel,” it murmured.  “I’m glad you are here.”
Tumblr media
“So where else would I be?” Little Ash said, steering it around a peddler’s cart.  “If you’re going to go around getting yourself into trouble like this, you need someone who knows about trouble to get you out of it.”
“And you do know that, you wicked creature,” Uriel said affectionately.  “Will you do the rest of the yahrzeit with me?  It’s until sunset, only.”
Little Ash let his arm tighten around its soft waist for just a moment.  “Of course I will.  You have to ask?”
They walked on, not very quickly – Little Ash was limping by now, and Uriel was still leaning on him and stumbling slightly with exhaustion - but in the comfortable silence of people who are happy just to be near each other.  Between them, like a heavy load made lighter by being shared, they carried the memory of the old rebbe of Belz.

Friday Cafe Cambridge Ma. 2002
Robert Sondak Spare Change News
Vendor-Writer
When the Friday Café at the First Church of Cambridge reopened in September 2022, the occasion marked the welcome return of a sorely-missed resource for our community.
As a cook and chef, I started to visit the Friday Café bimonthly the first three years it was open from 2014 through 2017. I was immediately impressed with the warm atmosphere that allowed the homeless and local Cambridge residents to eat and chat socially together surrounded by music. Sometimes I would visit the Café before selling Spare Change News; other times I would take the day off from hawking newspapers and spend the entire time at the cafe.
I enjoyed the wide range of high quality locally-created vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees and side dishes: beef, pasta, fruit salads, chicken soups, bean-based soups, fresh fruit,
fresh tossed salads, sliced turkey or ham sandwiches and wraps. The food was simply made, low in sugar, low in salt, and very appealing.
After coming regularly to the Café, I introduced myself to the Rev. Kate Layzer, the program director. I inquired about volunteering and highlighted that I had a background in food service and also worked at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Rev. Kate suggested that I could follow some some simple protocols and cook entrees in my kitchen to bring to the lunch program. The protocols included having a clean kitchen floor with counter, a stove top, and a thoroughly-clean stove oven. She suggested that I come in beforehand and review in person any recipes to avoid any duplication and to get cooking suggestions.
I submitted a couple of recipes to Rev. Kate over the next three years. The first recipe submitted was quinoa vegetable pilaf with diced bell peppers and scallions sautéd in olive oil. I followed this dish with two versions of a carb-
based pasta. The first entree was red lentil pasta made with a side of mushroom and red-orange bell peppers. It took an hour and a half to cook altogether and was gone in 45 minutes on the buffet line, well received by close to 200 guests. The next dish was chickpea pasta made with green and red bell peppers and scallions seasoned with black pepper and ground oregano. The total time to cook the meal was 90 minutes. The chickpea pasta was also well received, and another nearly 200 guests cleared the dish from the buffet line in just an hour.
When the pandemic sent the city into lockdown in March 2022, outreach services at the First Church continued. Though the Café was closed, it continued to provide bagged lunches from March 2020 until its reopening.
There were multiple attempts to reopen the Café, but Rev. Kate said the Café scuttled reopening plans when Omicron hit.
“The Café administration watched the CDC website,“ she said. “They waited for COVID rates in Middlesex county to drop
from Red to Yellow to Green, meaning low risk of spread.”
The Friday Café made a quiet return to indoor seating on September 23, 2022 and once again welcomes everyone to come right inside into a cozy, wooden floor parish hall. It has continued to serve high quality, locally-crafted food created by a team of 40 volunteer cooks in their own kitchens. As always, the food is low sugar and low salt, but the current menu is smaller than before and potluck- style, and the Café’s hours are more limited than prior to the pandemic: 12 p.m. through 3 p.m. each Friday.
“We worked hard on the public health of the space,” Rev. Kate said. “We consulted with the church along with the Cambridge Public Health Department on space plans.”
The Friday Café’s new health protocols include offering fewer tables and chairs, a CO2 monitor, and a group of fans in place. Weather permitting an open front door circulates fresh air all the time. Food is served in a buffet line operated by a team
of servers who are now wearing facial masks while serving. Prior to 2020, the Café regularly accommodated about 200 guests; with the new protocols, it now operates with half that number of guests.
The Friday Café has a very strong outreach program assisting its homeless guests. In addition to working with the CPHD on holding COVID vaccine clinics for guests and volunteers over the last three years, the Café is now offering a series of new outreach services. They now have an outreach housing navigator working with some of the Café’s homeless guests with public housing, and the nurses from CPHD have hosted a number of flu clinics there.
Those wanting a fresh meal and help accessing support for their housing and health have a valuable resource in the Friday Café.
To volunteer, individuals can go to the Friday Café page on the First Church of Cambridge website and open the volunteer
page for more information. 􏰙

My thoughts on MM ships
So I recently made a little "Ship it or Rip it" survey on Quotev, believe it or not, it was the only project I was able to finish, it was the only one I had the Guts to complete, the other drafts were gone in a Flash, never made the Cut.
Anyway, when it comes to MM ships, I'm X-tremely picky, I only Roll with a (s)E-lect few, there are a lot that are as painful to witness as a LayZer and a a few that make me go "awww", so Needless to say, it's Hard for me to enjoy a lot of MM ships.

Hey, pssst. Wil je #gastenlijst? .
