Okay no but @pass-the-5sauce mashton poll has me in my feels (you can check the tags there) so I'm gonna ramble. Mashton is hands down the most underrated duo within the band and that drives me insane because they are fucking fascinating???? I don't think they would be friends without the band and I think they didn't have as natural as a connection as cashton or lashton but i think that the fact that they had to work on their relationship makes them so !!!!!!!! Because like, they are opposite ends of the same spectrum in some ways and it shouldn't work but they wanted it to work, so it does. Opposite ends of the battery at it's finest. And it's crazy cuz you watch stuff of them during the self titled era because they had full conversation without saying a single word, they tend to get a but chaotic but they have an understanding going between them that's insane??? Also talking self titled era they wrote 9 out of 34 songs we got during that. Including she looks so perfect. Like, hello????? And they have so many little moments happening that are just soft??? And not just stuff like the massage gun, or the msg hug, with like physical affection, but they way they talk about each other, the way they look at each other, the way they're both so quick to stop the other when they start talking down on themselves. The way Ashton can get Michael body slamming into a table over how hard he's laughing, the way they gravitate to each other when they need to *judging intensifies* but they can't say it out loud. Like they have a SOLID friendship that comes from wanting to be friends that has them settled into the level of mutual respect and love and fondness that's just !!!!!!!!!!! My tag for them is my comfort idiots are fond of each other for a reason.

a/n: i’ve been on a lashton binge so here we are

summary: lashton headcanons

pairing: poly!lashton x female reader

warnings: nsfw, mild cursing, slight mention of depression

-you and Ashton were in a relationship first but then Luke walked in on you guys

-he asked you if you wanted Luke to join

-to which you said yes

-and the rest is history

-though all three of you had been a couple for a few months, Luke still feels out of place sometimes

-like he’ll give you a forehead kiss and a huge ass hug (the man is over 6 ft. is so easy for him)

-he’d bury your face into his chest and have his hand in your hair

-it’s always a nice destressor for you two

-he says every time without fail

-“my princess”

-butterflies. every. time.

-and Ashton will walk into the room then Luke would just feel his presence and his body would get stiff

-and you always start laughing ‘cause you know Ash is giving him a subtle death stare

-“what? Ash is so scary when he’s angry”

-“i’m right here, man. i can hear you”

-your guys’ sleeping arrangement oh my

-it’s a love/hate relationship to say the least

-normally you’re in the middle of them and Ashton’s spooning you with his hand on your back

-your face is buried in Luke’s chest while his hand is in your hair

-it’s the best feeling ever

-once they both fall asleep though… dear god

-luke is always snoring and at first you thought it was really cute

-until he rolled over one night to cuddle you then snored in your ear and scared the shit out of you

-then on the other side… you got Ashton

-this man will be drumming in his sleep let me tell you

-you’d wake him up to stop him from sleep drumming and it would stop for 2 seconds then he’d be back at it again

-“babe… babe…”

-“hmm”

-“sleep drummin’, baby”

-“shit, sorry”

-*stops* *starts again*

-“ashhh”

-you’d hold his fingers down and it would calm him a little, and it would stop again

-you’d almost be asleep but then he’d keep drumming

-it’s a cycle

-but you’re fine with it because they have to deal with your insomnia so it evens out

-ash’s always the one to wake up first in the morning

-you and Luke normally wake up around the same time but poor Ashton he wakes up at least two hours before you guys

-he’s so bored out of his mind though the poor man

-though you’d still be asleep he’d always think of how to wake you up in a nice way

-90 percent of the time it would work

-one time though he tried to roll you over so you could be laying on his chest but then he miscalculated and you ended up on the floor

-it ended with a loud “thunk” and a sprained wrist

-ash felt so bad

-needless to say it woke both you and Luke up

-anyway…

-on the rare occasion that Luke wakes up first he makes you and Ashton breakfast

-you’d both go downstairs to see Luke in your hoodie and Ashton’s sweatpants

-both you and Ash would explode inside

-his hair’s all fluffy cause he hadn’t styled/brushed it yet

-he’d be humming along to music in his earbuds cause he didn’t want to wake either of you up yet

-then he’d look up at you guys staring at him because there’s no way that he was awake at this hour

-he’d give you both the brightest smile and give you your breakfast

-which actually tastes really good

-whenever you’re sad Luke’s always the first one to notice

-whether you respond too abruptly to Ashton or you just come into their studio wanting a hug that man will always know something’s up with you

-seriously you guys would be in the middle of dinner and you’d be staring at your plate worrying about something and he’d be all

-“something wrong princess?”

-“huh”

-“you okay? You’ve been kinda quiet”

-“oh, I guess…I don’t know, it’s fine”

-“wanna talk about it?”

-ashton always knows how to fix your problem

-they’re always in your brain I swear

-luke would tell Ashton if something is off with you, and he would immediately go to you and give you cuddles or something

-you’d be curled up on the couch in a depressive episode and he’d just be there

-he’d play with your hair and give you forehead kisses

-luke is always timid of sex stuff with you because he still feels weird since your still technically Ashton’s girl in his mind

-plus he never wants to hurt you in a way that you don’t like

I have more thoughts about this than I probably should, but I was actually actively thinking about this seeing some babysos sleeping on the bus/van pictures, because one they look too young to be that tired and two all four of them sleep in distinct ways?? I am personally fascinated by cake sleeping, because Luke usually tries to make himself seem smaller when he's not on stage (where he is larger than live, love that for him) but when he's asleep he usually takes up the space you expect someone as tall as him to take (i would provide visuals but I'm on my phone but like the video of him and Calum in the seat of the van where he's taking like 70% of the space or even that pic that you reblogged from me yesterday) and Calum usually sits like he's trying to take as much space as he can (if you look up manspreading you'll find a picture of Calum, true story) but totally curls into himself when he sleeps, and also the way he always has his arms like he's hugging something makes me thing about that interview were malum says they are the big spoon always and lashton say they like to be the little spoon, and I strongly believe it hat Calum is the only one of that will always try to be the big spoon because he looks like he likes to hug things when he sleeps. Also Crystal has provided multiple situations where Michael was the little spoon, so like, babe don't lie you like to be held, it's okay.

Michael asleep is exactly what I expect him to be while sleeping, and by that I mean he's a cat. I'm pretty sure I have a set of Michael sleeping (i do, it's here) he either curls up into himself arms folded across his body or just full on drops his full body weight on whoever is closest to him and that just makes me want to scream if I'm honest, unless the person next to him it's Luke, then they are just there leaning into each other and that's adorable and soft and aaaaaaa. There's not a lot of Ashton asleep content, at least I can't seem to find all that much, maybe that's because he's the one taking the sleeping videos and pics usually, but if no one is sleeping on him he is kinda like a little ball?? And that's so soft considering his usual tired dad stance (What is is with 6 feet something men and trying to be small while sleeping?? Why is that so endearing?? Let me run my fingers through your hair while you sleep please)

omg close as strangers but with a happy ending i actually love that. ive thought about writing a close as strangers fic tbh but maybe now i don't have to.

and thank you !!!!!!!! yeah honestly the ambiguous ending is as much a practical decision as it is a narrative one because i don't want to decide what the characters do yknow? like i remember talking this out with hazel and agonizing over being unsure of how or where to end the fic and if i should make the decision and finally concluding that i didnt really have to make the decision, that i could just leave it at "we have the summer" and let the reader imagine whatever they want. but like you said, still an optimistic ending. just not a concrete one. because concrete endings and neatly-tied loose ends are for losers anyway. who wants certainty when you can have endless opportunity!
