I can see the flattened nose similarity, but not further than that tbh.

The grinch has a flattened snout and the live action also had whiskers for some reason?? Feels more like a mammal inspired appearance.

Lae'zel has more of a reptile look and is also a trillion times prettier.

its very important to me personally that any BG3 modern AU exist in a universe that shares all the media history of our world. this is because i simply have to imagine a world in which the characters are aware of Lae'zel's more than passing resemblance to the grinch

So I started Baldur's Gate 3 and playing as Gale. And I am really not much of a gamer at all. I'm playing mostly because of all the pretty pictures on Tumblr and I am so fucking shit at combat... and figuring stuff out. But whatever. I'm living my best life and having so much fun xD

Here are some thoughts

1. I already knew that Astarion could have some of the saddest eyes and facial expressions. But???? Those are constant???? He literally looks like a kicked puppy from the first time you talk to him??? WTF???

2. One of the idle dialogues Gale says is "Which way to the nearest library?" I fucking love this nerd.

3. I like Lae'zel. Her face moves like a mix between a cat's and the Grinch's. Love her.

4. Proper armour for female characters. Thank you.

Random bg3 confessions:

I fucked the Emperor in my first playthrough, back when only 5% of players had done so

Rolan has accidentally died in various ways in all of my playthroughs, I'm determined to keep him alive in my current one but we'll see :/

I let Astarion drain me of all my blood and kill me because it's hot and I get to punch him after

My characters all let Astarion drink their blood every night because it makes me (and Astarion) happy, and most of the time I don't even bother to remove the debuff

I got a rare achievement in my first playthrough by sparing Sazza's life three times

On my good!durge run, I still got the slayer form anyway by completely cheesing the game

I cut off Gale's hand in one playthrough and sent him off to die alone in another, despite him being one of my favorite characters

I cannot fight with Gale to save my life. Idk if it's a wizard problem or a me problem, but in battle he is constantly dying and missing every attack. Instead of playing on tactician mode I just play with him in my party to up the difficulty.

I regularly breakup with Astarion to hear all his dialogue, then quickly reload a save

I can't bring myself to kill any cats in this game, so I turned on nonlethal when fighting the gremishkas

I am not above save scumming if I'm determined to have something epic happen, like I reloaded countless times to get the displacer beast to side with me

I slaughtered all the people in umberlee's temple in my first playthrough since I lost access to their quest thinking that's how I get the wave mother robe- turns out you can't get it that way.

I went through my whole first playthrough having no fucking clue who Wulbren Bongle is because I failed to rescue the gnomes at moonrise (accidentally)

I skipped the entire mountain pass and a big chunk of Lae'zels quest in my first playthrough

In one of my playthroughs I broke my paladin oath to side with Glut and slaughter all the myconoids, apparently too naive to figure out that there was in fact a "wrong side" to pick in this situation (astarion approving should've been a big hint)

I was too dumb to solve the chess puzzle, so I just blasted my way through the whole thing

Likewise, I just googled the answers to the brain puzzle in the oubliette even though it was pretty simple because I'm lazy

Having a naked statue of Astarion in my camp has become tradition

When I first got Astarion's confession scene, I squealed and kicked my feet like a schoolgirl. I'm 30

I started romancing Wyll in my first durge run, knowing full well I was going to pick Astarion again in the end. I felt so bad turning him down

Even tho most of the characters I play are good aligned, that doesn't stop me from greedily robbing every last little thing from every home and establishment I find like the Grinch. By the end of the game I have more gold than I could ever conceivably spend on anything

I'm pretty sure I got Kagha to redeem herself, solved the problem at the grove, but still slaughtered her in the end anyway with no consequences simply because I didn't like her

I have still never ascended Astarion, or given any of the characters their bad ending (except for killing Gale)

Gods I have an idea for some Christmas bg3 art but idk if I'm up for it lmao

Anyway, the companions as Christmas movie characters. Lae'zel as the Grinch (feat. Scratch as Max), Astarion as the elf from Rudolph, Gale as scrooge in his funny little nightgown, Karlach as the Heat Miser, Halsin as some adaptation of Santa Claus. Still missing some but would add them if I were to move forward with the project

And of course Withers as Jack Skellington

Wait wait wait do you mean like the order of the companions being memeable because oh I've thought about this quite a lot and have the answer ready

1. Gale. No comment on this. I love bullying him (affectionate). Ive played this game several times now and I constantly feel the need to shove him against a locker. He's so unserious

2. Astarion, especially ascended. Don't get me wrong he's my favorite but by god I would be lying if i said he's not perfect meme material. His ugly little grinch face. His entire attitude. I love him sm but oh my god i need to throw him around

3. Karlach!! It's just in her nature. She's so silly and my baby and i would kill for her mwuah she's naturally funny

4. Lae'zel because she's actually soo cute and so mean at the same time. It would be fair to humble her a little bit but also she's hilarious. Her dry delivery of lines adds so much to it.

5. My girl shart. She has a bit too much angsty backstory that i relate to but to loosen it up a little I love making jokes about how emo she is. She also has absolutely 0 chill and i love having her in my party paired with astarion cause they both drag each other thru the dirt and it's the funniest shit ever.

6. Wyll is only so low because he's actually the biggest sweetie and i love joking about him being a bit stuck up and too perf because thats the only weak spot he leaves me to attack. He's perfect in combination with the others that are more chaotic bc he's the opposite. Gives a lot of potential for memes

7. Mins should be higher cause he's braindead and carries a Hamster around come on man he's perfect meme Material. Only so low cause he's often left out of main companion stuff

8. Halsin. He's also a bit too perf and chill for me to make fitting jokes. I like the memes of him being like a hippie uncle or boomer dad. Gets a good chuckle out of me

9. Minthara is so low bc i only recently got her to join my party and i know she's unhinged and hilarious but i haven't used her enough to see the meme potential

10. Jaheira is badass and mother i won't be dragging her thru the dirt she would beat me up sorry
