Shops and businesses have gone on strike in Kurdestan and Kermanshah, but also at Mashad, a very conservative city far away from the Kurdish region.

Workers in the economically important oil industry have gone on strike in the south.

Students and pupils of all kind of schools and universities are protesting, right down to primary school children.

Civil disobedience grows as women walk without headscarves. Placards of Khomeini and Khamenei get torched.

Today, Wednesday, mayor demonstrations are expected in many of the big cities all over Iran.

Internet connection is exceptionally bad today, as to prevent people from coordinating.

Despite heavy clashes and police brutality, the revolution continues.

CIRCA 7TH CENTURY B.C.

10 5⁄8 in. (27 cm.) long.

Formed of hammered sheet gold, this long plaque is ornamented in repoussé and enhanced by incision with a frieze of stags walking to the right. There are perforations along the edges for attachment, perhaps to leather or cloth. These two joining fragments are thought to be part of the Ziwiye Treasure, a hoard of ancient objects in precious metal and other materials found on the ancient citadel on Ziwiye in Kurdestan, east of Saqqiz in Northwestern Iran, now widely dispersed in museum and private collections.

Iranian Contemporary artist Reza Hedayat, b 1966.

Reza Hedayat was born in the small village of Nazem Abad located in the city of Ghorveh in the province of Kurdestan, Iran. He went to elementary school in Nazem Abad but then moved to the city of Ghorveh. In 1990, he entered the Tehran University of Art and received his bachelors degree in painting.

In 1996, he was accepted for the painting post graduate program from which in 1999, he graduated holding a Master of Art degree in painting. He has been employed by the University of Sooreh since 1996 as a sketching/drawing and painting professor and has been teaching painting there and also at the central branch of the Islamic Azad University ever since.
