I feel sad for people who are sitting this game out in some kind of angry defiance because it’s not matching up to the original as much as they’d hoped.
I’m in the camp who wanted a remake that was just like the original only pretty. The whispers and the prospect that the plot on this would deviate in any significant way from the original definitely disappointed me… but dammit, I’m loving this game so much. Loved remake too. It’s not exactly what I would have made if I had creative control, but how could you not love this game if you’re a long time Final Fantasy fan?
The nostalgia is there. The characters are beautiful. The world is beautiful. The world is HUGE! And there’s that signature goofiness that all great final fantasy games include.
You don’t have to like this game, but if you loved the original, I am legit sad for you - as someone who also loved the original - that you aren’t experiencing this game how I am. I’m having so much fun!
Well I decided to draw a moogle, specifically modelled after the ones in IX which are my favorite. One day I will graduate away from simple shapes and flat colors, but maybe when I can reliably do as well as I did with the Mimikyu from last week I'll worry more about it.
I looked up "kupo" on youtube, with the intention of finding out how it was rendered in ingame audio (if not just voice-acted as saying the word "kupo"), and discovered the "Uh ... kupo?" scene.
I think that out-of-universe, the player is fully justified in selecting that choice, and in-universe, the NPCs are fully justified in their "[everyone disliked that]" reaction.
