自転車で礼文島を走ってきました（前編）

昨年、久々に自転車で離島キャンプツーリングをし、その魅力を思い出した僕はさっそく次の島へ行くことにしました。

旅の前にキャンツーのバイクを見直し。というのも、離島で1日に走る距離は多くても50kmほど。軽快さよりもどんな道でも気兼ねなく散策できる走破性を重視し、我が家で唯一キャリア用のダボ穴がついているファットバイクを用いることにしました。

ファットバイク用のキャリアに長年使ってきたパニアを付けたところ。図ったかのようにオレンジと青のツートンカラーとなりました。

その他のギアは基本いままで通り。ヘルメットがFOXのトレイルメットになったのはこの辺からだったかもしれません。

利尻島鴛泊港経由の便に乗って昼過ぎに上陸。

いきなり見覚えのあるバイク乗りの二人組に絡まれてお昼ご飯を食べに行きます。

やはりウニ。今回も少し時期外れですが、時期外れでもこのクオリティが食べられるのは流石。食後のデザートも欠かせません。

礼文饅頭。ちゃんとお店で蒸しているようでした。黒糖あんが濃厚。バイク乗りが林道へ消えていったので、とりあえず今夜の宿泊地に向かいます。

立派なウッドデッキのサイトに設営。芝生のサイトもありましたが、料金変わらずということでこちらをチョイス。身軽になったところで散策へ出ます。

離島のいいところは（基本的に）熊鈴と熊スプレーがいらない点。せっかくファットバイクで来たのだからオフロードを堪能します。

海沿いの社。本殿が海を向いているのでこっちが裏手。

アルシオーネSVXの草ヒロ。近所を簡単に徘徊してキャンプ場へ帰巣。

バイク乗りたちと宴です。旅道中の話で盛り上がります。

二人は僕より一日早い日程で2泊3日、この翌日には本土へ向けて帰っていきました。

フェリーターミナルでまでお見送り。

現地集合現地解散主義の我々もこのやり取りには毎回笑いをこらえられません。

この日は島の北側へ向かいます。天気は相変わらずパッとしません。

遠回りですが、極力海沿いを走り、本日の宿泊地へ。

設営を済ませて、身軽になったのでさらに北へ向かいます。後編に続く。

自転車で礼文島を走ってきました（後編）

2泊3日の行程の後半。 2泊目の設営を終えて島の北側を散策します。

この界隈は丘陵地帯が多く、アップダウンもかなりのものでした。

波風が穏やかな西岸で休憩したり写真を撮っているうちに青空が見え始めます。

丘を登った先に見えるのは礼文島最北端のスコトン岬と、沖に見えるはトド島。この日は昼食を食べ損ねていたので、お土産屋さんで補給。

生地に熊笹が練りこまれているらしい熊笹まん(左)と、トド肉の煮込みが入っているらしいトドまん(右)。どちらもクセがないので普通の中華まんと違いがわからない。

往路とは違う道を探しつつキャンプ場へ戻ります。

この道は途中で林道になっており、先が長そうだったので引き返しました。高台に上がると道北らしい景色。

道北らしいといっても利尻島には無い景色。日が傾いてきたので再度西岸へ出ます。

澄海(すかい)岬。夕方なので全然観光客がいなかった。このまま日の入りを見たかったのですが、雲行きが怪しいので諦めて帰りました。

そしたら晴れました。明るいうちに夕食を食べます。

まともな買い出しができなかったので、非常用に持ち込んだインスタントパスタで腹を満たしたのち、軽く晩酌。

明日帰るのに今更になって観光案内を読むなど。

朝の便に乗って帰るため、余裕をもって3時起き。

朝食は北海道最北のキャンプ場で沖縄そば。近所のスーパーで手に入る南国。

6時前に出発。かなり時間に余裕があるため久種湖畔を��く散策しながら南下。

島の発電所。結構小さく見えますが、これくらいで島の電力をカバーできるもんなんですね。

出向の1時間半前に香深港へ到着。徘徊するほどの余裕はないので、ゆっくりお土産屋さんを見たりしていました。

遠洋の雲が切れていたので、この後晴れるようなら昼便で帰るという選択もありましたが、素直に帰ることとします。

ファットバイクだと輪留めの違和感がない。

稚内港到着後は防波堤ドームで記念撮影ののち大人しく自宅へ直帰(5時間)しました。

ほとんど晴れなかったうえに潮風をたくさん浴びたので念入りにお片付け。

以上が初めてのファットバイクキャンプツーリングの顛末となります。

MTBでのキャンプツーリングは以前持っていたバイクで経験がありますが、ファットバイクだとまた一味違います。どこでも入っていける安心感とエアボリュームによる衝撃吸収は良いものの、やはり重たいと言わざるを得ませんでした。平地ではそれほど気になりませんが、登りはかなりの鈍足です。あと、見た目のインパクトは圧倒的です。各所で「これは自転車？バイク？」とか「重くない？」と声をかけられました。

Hi BC, don't know if you realize this but the woman who started the Ocean charity MPC sponsors is based in FLA and lives on the west side, I think near Sarasota. She is also a Gator fan and he posted with Gator logo this week. Not saying romantic as many will try to sugest just connection. When it was posted by the Florida fan last week that he might be there, I thought hrs going to do his ocean adventure MPC was promoting during his vacation. ? Also, it looks as you have in at a hotel in Miami on Tues, but the sun (set or rise) story was posted when the sun was setting 4 to 5 pm Thursday on the West side of Florida. So something to chew on. Cheers! Thanks for the updates.

When we learned he landed in Miami, I took the option of the Ocean cleaning charity into account as well. I know there was some talk to organize a day for the MPC members, like the tree planting last year. Just not now in one place as it looks like there's not going to be a gala this year, but more virtual and online. But so far I haven't seen anything that points in this direction. I think he just took a week or a bit more to be on his own, do his own and enjoy the free time getting some rest and if he posts about his trip the way he did, tells me he was just on his own doing what he likes to do.

I am not sure what you mean with the sunset pic, if you meant the one of MPC, that is just MPC promo, not his pic. He only reposts them. So hasn't got anything to do with where he is or what he is doing imo. And for the Gator logo? He didn't post anything but reposts of MPC and his booze.

And for the beer... 🙄 Gosh... I didn't had any clue and I bet he didn't either. I don't think it's a political statement. He's just having a beer while on his trip. He did sort of the same pic 2 years ago showing a Kona beer?

I'm glad I'm living in a country where a beer is just a beer and nobody is gonna have a terrible homophobic dispute over who is promoting it. 🌈

And no, I'm not the one that looks for all kind of hidden messages, receipts or whatever in pics. A beer is a beer, though it might have been a lot less troublesome to just make sure and leave it out of the pic. Oh and if you wait for a 'drinking and driving' comment from me. Hm.. drinking one or 2 beers (low alcohol percentage) isn't that big a deal for me. It's most likely not crossing the limits. It's not wise, to drink and drive for sure, and I get worse vibes seeing him on a bike with a bottle of his booze (high alcohol percentage). Anyway, all I see is a guy hanging out, enjoying time on his own and doing some sightseeing. Nothing there to get upset about 🤷‍♀️
