How do you think Mattias and Arthur's bosses react to their decision to date again? And do the tabloids ever find out?

hm!

at first I was going on a long ramble about who and how the bosses found out and what I’d expect from a politician of that position but something else occurred to me: it would absolutely be someone in the British royal family, either in the household or extended, to be the one to spill the tea to the tabloids. to throw the tea, even, to dump it into the harbor. one of these fuckers is gonna cash in on that sweet royal rota money.

Mathias, I think, doesn’t face a lot, if any, repercussions? Denmark is one of the most queer-friendly countries in the world, which apparently started back in 1933, so that’s super fucking cool. yeah Mathias is fine. if anything, the Danish government probably hails it as a major PR win. hell yeah, free publicity! the pride parade in Copenhagen is gonna be so fucking LIT this year! I mean, they are still politicians after all

Arthur, who has to deal with the queerphobic atrocity responsible for a lot of Bullshit on Terf Island that is the British tabloids, is a lot less fine. but there is absolutely nothing more British than simply pretending the scandal didn’t happen by not addressing it at all while the peasants outside relish in the gossip, so the stance of Buckingham is simply to ignore it. (I can’t really comment on the Parliamentary side, though.)

in the end I think Arthur just outright fucking leaves the country for Denmark with Mathias because he is an intensely private person and cannot handle the public humiliation and general tabloid-paparazzi bullshit. presumably he has to be coaxed out by the UK gov and in the meantime one of his siblings temporarily takes over his duties so he can enjoy the much-needed vacation.

I have to admit one of my biggest worries is another backlash- especially with how fickle these new fans are but she's learned a lot since 2016 so maybe my fears will be unfounded.

hmmmm yeah i do think she’s learned a lot since 2016 and i get the feeling she’s more secured nowadays than she was during 1989, back then i think she had something to prove

I was discussing mask Headcanons with my cousin today and here is what we got-For team cap:

Wanda/Natasha: Fashion queens. Can't go without a mask to match an outfit. IT HAS TO MATCH!

Steve: When he wears a mask, he doesn't care about the fashion part and will just wear one. In his mind, it doesn't matter if it matches. As long as he is out here protecting himself and other people he doesn't mind. Natasha and Wanda look on in horror.

Bucky: Goth like. Again, matching but in his case, his masks are all black and all grey. Just like his outfits.

Sam: Like Natasha and Wanda he is a bit more fashion-conscious. He will match his masks.

Scott Lang: Like Steve, only cares if he has a nice clean mask. Unlike Steve, everyone is just happy he put on decent clothing that day.

All have made their masks at some point. Steve and Wanda went fabric shopping the instant they could and taught themselves to make masks via YOUTUBE.

Aaaah! That’s so cute! Steve probably helps stitching inspirational quotes on the masks (bonus points if he adds a “fucking” somewhere in the quote unprompted). A lot of those masks (the pg-13 ones), he donates to homeless people.

Also Steve and Scott are literally me! I bet that once Natasha points out that his shirt and mask don’t match, Steve makes a point to wear a neon green t-shirt and an orange mask (which goes hilariously bad with his skin tone to boot).

“You shouldn’t have said anything” mutters Bucky wisely, stitching his own inspirational quote (”A Sorcerer is a Wizard without a Hat” S. Wilson) on his pitch black mask.

ALSO BONUS ROUND:

THOR: Can’t catch/transmit the virus or anything but diligently wears his mask (he begged for one with the Valkyrie symbol, and has another one with Loki’s horns) to set a good example.

BRUCE: having to interact with people who “don’t believe in masks” or some other bullshit probably makes him revert back to his “incoherent” hulk days (assuming that this is prof. Hulk we’re talking about. If it’s human!Bruce, he probably needs a lot of yoga)

VISION: Asks Wanda to magic a mask out of solidarity. Gets stuck in the middle of a mask argument at the supermarket and he tries, he tries to provide actual data and scientific evidence, but it goes about as well as you can imagine. Really comes close to wondering if Ultron was right. lol, kidding. But he’s very somber when he gets back from his grocery run and he only says, “human beings are easily fooled due to their limited understanding of the inner workings of the universe” and phases out. Well, everyone agrees.

LMAO no one hates the fact that Arthur and Francis are sleeping together more than the French government. though I think I was aiming less for him being petty and more like, Arthur and Francis refusing to behave in public.

I think they should wrap Charles up in a bunch of plastic wrap until he's as round as a ball. Then William should push him down a hill to see how far he'll go before rolling into something. They can put it in the court circular and everything.

Let’s see...

I highly recommend checking out bistevethor’s Steve Rogers fic rec masterpost , which has a lot of Steve-centric stuff. Not all of those are whump-heavy, but they all treat Steve very decently. Walking Wounded, The Rocket’s red Glare and Do You Remember Being Happy? (’Cause I sure Don’t) might be up your alley.

Also, most of the shippy stuff is either SamSteve or ThorSteve, so that’s always worth a try, imho.

Thegraytigress was another goldmine of good Steve Rogers fic who, unfortunately, deleted. A personal favorite of mine(here is the cached version Imprint) features hurt!Steve + Protective!Thor + pets. 13/10 would recommend.

It completely baffles my mind that fans have such high standards towards Steve- especially St0ny and St*cky shippers. ( and I say that as a shipper, but apparently my opinions about the ship dynamics are unpopular), and that it is rare Steve actually gets comfort for his trauma.

Yeah. I have noticed that especially in St*cky circles, the response to Steve's trauma is (often, not always) to either downplay it with a "haha, Steve's so dramatic, just like Peggy said", or to pretend that Steve's sooo repressed.

Lol, I think that more than having high standards for Steve, it's shippers wanting their faves to be so special that Steve won't even be able to fall for someone else. And if he does fall for someone else, that would negate their fave's uniqueness, which we can't have.
