Hi I have seen how to make boys s / o feel better (when she was depressed) can you make her with reiji Carla shin kino laito? (Frankly, I like reading something like this especially from your blog)
Tumblr media
Marisol: Original (Shu, Ayato, Subaru, Ruki, Kou, Yuma) here.
Tumblr media
REIJI
- Reiji is a busy man, and between his duties managing the households, pursuing his studies and reining in his brothers, he hardly has any time to properly check your condition until the end of the day - That isn’t to say he hasn’t noticed it, though - Reiji isn’t obstinate by any means, and as your partner, he sees himself as duty bound to care for you no matter what - Reiji would offer practical solutions to your predicament - while they might not actually help that much, since emotions aren’t always as logical as he thinks, this is Reiji’s way of showing that he cares for you  - “Here. I have brought you some tea. I know I can be... cold, at times, but do not mistake that for my being uncaring. I assure you that I have noticed your change in personality of late. Perhaps if you share your burden with me, we may be able to find a solution.” - He’d never say it but Reiji is secretly keen to get you back to your normal state as soon as possible; he misses your ‘vulgar’ little quips a lot more than he lets on
LAITO
- Laito is an extremely attentive partner, and thanks to his less than perfect childhood he’s hyper-aware of any changes in your emotional state, so he notices almost instantly that something’s up - Weirdly Laito might irrationally find himself worrying if it’s something to do with him or perhaps that you’ve become bored with him - you wouldn’t be the first to leave him so abruptly, after all - so he feels strangely relieved when you reassure him you’re just having ‘one of those days’ - Laito might joke about offering you sex as a way to relieve your sadness, but he knows better than to seriously consider that a solution - He might feel out of his depth at first since he’s never had to emotionally comfort any of his partners like this before, but he’d soon bring your mood round with a bit of humour and a bit of old fashioned distraction - “Bitch-chan, since you’re not feeling like yourself, I was thinking we should go see that new chick flick in the cinemas- you’d rather stay home? Then let’s relax together and see if your mood really can’t be relieved, hehe.”
SHIN
- Shin is not the most emotionally intelligent or sensitive guy, let alone particularly experienced in romantic relationships, so when he sees you wandering sullenly around the mansion he’s at a total loss for what to do - “Human, what’s with you? Do you want my fangs? No?! Wow, you must really be feeling sick. Is it serious? Should I call my brother?” - When you profess to him that you just feel as if you need some peace - and maybe a hug - Shin is truly confused - As a Founder, and a person in general, he knows hardly anything about the complex human condition and you’ll have to give him a crash course in mental health before he understands - But once he does he’ll try his best to take care of you - Shin’s familiars would probably be attuned to your emotional state too, so I hope you like getting sniffed and licked by a pack of whimpering wolves until you start to smile again
CARLA
- As the ruler of the Founders Carla is a busy man, but taking care of his bride is at the top of his list of priorities - what kind of King would he be if he couldn’t even take care of his own partner? - However, you’re likely to have to either make it incredibly obvious that you aren’t feeling like yourself or tell him outright, since he might brush it off as you simply being tired or moping about because you don’t want to do something - But once Carla knows, he will do everything in his power to ensure that you feel well again, no matter what that entails, and he might even go a little overboard in ensuring you feel better again - “Ah, there you are, mortal. Pack your bags. Why? For our trip to Amsterdam, of course. Did you not mention to me a day ago you always wished to visit? Let it be known that the king of the Founders is a generous ruler. I will ensure you are happy again within the day.” - You have to say, although touring the cities of Europe won’t cure your depression by any means, it is a pretty good distraction
KINO
- Kino loves you with all his heart, but when it comes to picking up on your emotions he’s not exactly a master - When he sits you down, trying to force you into your 11th game of Mario Kart, and you simply give him an empty smile, that’s when he realises that something is very wrong with your behaviour - “Oi. I’m your boyfriend, aren’t I? You should be telling me everything. I told you already, I want to know every part of you, so explain yourself. Why are you acting like this?” - His way of wording it may be brusque but it comes from a place of concern: Kino hates not knowing what’s going on inside your head, and only wants to make you feel better - When he realises video games won’t necessarily cheer you up, Kino resorts to more orthodox methods: sending Yuri to get you two your favourite food, and retiring to bed for cuddles - After a night wrapped in his arms and waking up with his fingers combing lazily through your hair, usually a rare occurrence, you’ll be feeling much better than before

Y/N and Aldo never showed some kind of an affection towards each other. They respected, trusted, appreciated the other one but these traits were common among the Basterds.
It seemed so innocent at first, almost like a teasing and none of the Jewish American soldiers expected to become it something more.
•••
They met at the very beginning of the Basterd's missions. Y/N was a french spy, a very famous one so she obviously got their attention since they'd gotten to France.
The Basterds recruited her in a bar and she immediately became one of them. Y/N fit within the group perfectly, like she was always destined to be a Basterd.
•••
After the third successful mission, they decided to stay the night in a local resistance hotel to relax and prepare for another action. Everyone went to their beds as soon as they could but Donny persuaded Y/N and Aldo to gamble a little before the sleep.
"C'mon, just one game!" Donny pleaded. It didn't take much and the trio was sitting around a table playing their fifth game.
"I thought you're better at poker, Lieutenant." Y/N laughed as she grabbed another money she won.
"Shut up, Sergeant. I just am a bit lenient with ya, that's all." Aldo fought back, trying to cover the fact he's worse with cards than Hugo trying to actually smile for once.
"Show me what you got, Lieutenant. I wanna see how you lose control." she winked at him and dealt the cards.
•••
Something changed in Aldo this evening. At first, Y/N was just another soldier sticking up for her country trying to end the war. But now he saw her in a totally different light.
He noticed what colour her eyes have, how she always ties her hair in a braid.
He noticed how her cheeks blushed when he praises her after a good work.
He noticed how she scrunches her nose when she disagrees with someone.
All those little things were filling his head. Aldo was so full of it. It was during the other mission when he completely understood his feelings.
•••
One moment and his whole world flipped.
Aldo was so angry with himself that he missed such an important thing.
Like a gun.
The German soldier was just kneeling in front of Aldo when he reached in his pocket. It all happened so quickly then.
The German pulled out a gun and with one last defiance he pulled the trigger. But it wasn't Aldo who got hit.
It was the woman behind him.
Aldo was like deprived of his senses. He threw away the piece of bread he was eating and jumped at the German. If Wicki didn't pulled him back, Aldo would probably beat the guy to death.
And that was Donny's speciality.
"Don't you fuckin' touch her! Or look at her!" Aldo shouted hitting his face with his fist one more time.
Y/N was so taken away by his behaviour, not really sure where the anger got from.
"What the hell, Lieutenant?" she frowned, "it's just a goddamn scratch on my arm. The bullet didn't even hit me properly."
Aldo froze whereas Donny and Hugo looked at each other with knowing smiles. They finally realised what was going on.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he tried to brush it off, gesturing to the Basterds to continue with the scalping. "It's fuckin' bleedin' a lot!"
"It's fine. Nothing too serious, Lieutenant." Y/N replied.
Aldo just shook his head as he took off his scarf and tied it around the wound. "No one would hurt ya again, or I'd kill 'em."
•••
The Basterds got ordered to rest a bit because there was a big mission on its way. They didn't know what it was but they all welcomed a full night sleep.
But Y/N didn't feel like going to bed. Instead, she took her cigarettes and sat at the balcony of the apartment they got settled in.
It was a chilly night but she didn't mind. She actually liked cold more than heat.
"Aldo seems a bit off lately." Donny's voice broke the silence as he positioned himself next to her.
"What you mean?" she asked offering him a cigarette which he gladly accepted.
"Remember how he beated up the German officer two weeks ago? I've never seen him like that."
"Oh Donny. He's just a badass with a good heart. I assure you, Aldo's just fine."
Donny shrugged but didn't say anything. This wasn't his secret to tell even though the change in Aldo's behaviour towards her was so damn obvious.
Donowitz glanced at Y/N smiling a bit. He understood why Aldo fell for the female Basterd.
•••
Bridget von Hammersmark was laying in front of them with a bullet in her leg while Hugo, Archie and Wicki were dead.
Y/N was standing in the corner of the room, lost in her thoughts, mourning for her lost friends. She knew something like that had to happen but she also believed in Basterds and part of her thought that they'll all come back home one day.
Y/N wasn't able to look at the actress anymore. She quickly left the room not looking at anyone while she lighted her cigarette. It'd been becoming too much to handle for her.
"Are you alright?" Aldo frowned as he walked towards her. "You still in?"
She laughed sarcastically at his question sheaking her head. "Yeah, of course, business. I'm in, Lieutenant."
"I didn't mean in like that and ya know it."
"Yeah, sorry. It's just-"
"I know, Sergeant. This whole event got me thinkin'. I gotta tell you something."
Y/N threw away her cigarette as she looked directly at him. She wasn't sure if it was the light or the sentiment, but Aldo's eyes never seemed so beautiful to her like they did in that moment.
"The truth is," Raine began as he stepped closer, "you make me feel... you make me feel, Sergeant."
•••
When Y/N stepped into the room in a black plain tight dress, the conversation between the Basterds immediately stopped. They'd never seen her in anything but in uniform or the civilian clothes. Donny dropped the glass of whiskey he was drinking, Hugo's knife fell on the ground with a loud crash, Omar and Wicki stayed there with their mouths wide opened, Archie Hicox smirked and Aldo, Aldo was taken away and wasn't able to get out a word.
"Please, gentlemen! This is how you welcome a beautiful woman? She looks magnificent!" Bridget von Hammersmark exclaimed gesturing towards Y/N.
"It's so uncomfortable," Y/N frowned and tried to adjust the dress a little, "and so impractical."
"I think it's perfect." Aldo breathed out and Bridget smiled in satisfaction.
Y/N truly looked like a completely new person. And Aldo's feelings mixed once again. She was so special to him, like water is special to desert. His life was dry without an excitment. She was the water that refreshed him after a long time of loneliness.
•••
Bridget, Aldo, Y/N, Donny and Omar stepped into the small local cinema, already so full of Nazi officers.
"It makes me sick." Y/N snorted as she looked around on the German uniforms. "I have two knives and a gun and I'm not afraid to use them right now."
Aldo laughed next to her and gallantly put his hand on her hip pulling her closely to him.
"Just relax, darlin'. We'll do that later." Aldo winked at her, not letting her go for a moment.
Bridget suddenly seemed like she'd seen a ghost. An older man approached their little group and Y/N immediately understood with whom they have the honor.
Bridget and Hans Landa shared a short conversation before they turned to them. Hammersmark formally introduced the Basterds and Y/N flinched a little under the German's look. Aldo noticed right away her change of attitude and stroked her hip gently.
"Sei assolutamente incredibile, signorina! Ho notato che molti ufficiali hanno voltato la testa dopo di te." (You look absolutely stunning, miss! I noticed that many officers turned their head after you.) Hans Landa grinned and Y/N thought it was the most disgusting thing ever.
"Grazie mille signore. Sono sicuro che stai esagerando." (Thank you very much, sir. I'm sure you're exaggerating.) Y/N faked a smile and clenched her hand in fist to remain calm.
All of the Basterds with Bridget jerked their heads towards her. Her fluent Italian took them away as well as Landa.
"Quanto amo la lingua italiana! E dalla bocca di una donna così bella, è una musica per le mie orecchie." (How I love the Italian language! And from the mouth of such a beautiful lady, it's a music for my ears.)
"Mi stai adulando, signor Landa. Non hai un brutto aspetto." (You're flattering me, Mr Landa. You don't look so bad yourself.) Y/N felt like vomitting any next second.
Aldo had enough of Landa's fake attitude, especially how Y/N looked so stressed and angry. He decided he has to step in or she won't hold herself back. Aldo recalled the one sentence he learnt yesterday, just in case he'd need to interrupt a moment in a formal way. This was the time.
"Baciami, adesso." (Kiss me, right now.) he stated and pulled Y/N even closer than before. She didn't manage to prostest or ask a quick question and their lips touched. She returned the kiss immediately and ran her fingers through his hair.
Until someone coughed.
They pulled apart from each other, Aldo smiling widely like a winner and Y/N blushing harder than ever.
"Ci scusi signore. Il mio ragazzo qui è un tipo appassionato. Devi perdonarlo." (Excuse us, sir. My boyfriend here is the passionate kind. You must forgive him.) Y/N stuttered and but looked directly at Landa.
•••
Operation Kino was over and it was now only her, Aldo and Utivich. They lost everybody along the way. They stood together side by side through everything. They'd become something stronger than family, friends, lovers. They faced death together and nothing could break the bond they'd created over the years. It was time to go home.
Y/N stood on the ship that was taking the Basterds, or what was left of them, home. The wind was dancing on her hair whispering secrets in her ears.
"I never thought I'd make it back home." Aldo Raine appeared next to her with a cigarette between his lips.
"None of us thought so, Lieutenant." she nodded, "but the difference is, we were wrong. Not them."
"Smart as always." Aldo grinned as he turned to her. "You should stop calling me Lieutenant. The war's over."
Y/N giggled at his statement and he could swear he'd never heard something so melodic, something so right.
"It kinda sticked with you, Lieutenant."
Aldo didn't answer, instead he threw away the cigarette and took some deep breaths. He needed whiskey, or anything else that would give him at least a bit of courage.
Aldo Raine fought in war, he saw his friends die, he was broken by everything he saw and still, asking Y/N a simple question seemed harder than surviving the bloodshed.
"Spill it out, Lieutenant." she laughed as she glanced at him.
"I hate how ya always do that. But here it goes," Aldo replied, "I've never been good at this so I'll just keep it short."
He stopped for a moment and stared at the woman in front of him. As he stepped closer, his heart was already racing like it'd never before.
"Why don't ya come to the States with me? We can buy some little house in the Smoky Mountains and live there for the rest of our fuckin' lives." Aldo confessed in his Raine kind of way, looking at her with so much hope in his eyes.
"Is this some kind of your proposal?" Y/N chuckled as she intertwined her fingers with his.
"Maybe."
"I thought you'd never ask! Of course I'll come with you! You're everything I have, Aldo."

The Night the War Ended

France, 1945
"DONNY LET'S GO."
Donny pulled his arm away from Omar's hand as he set off one last round, the fire beginning to devour the nazis.
"DONNY."
Donny turned around and faced Omar, "What?!"
Omar patted Donny on the chest once, over his pocket. The pocket he'd been keeping a ring in for a year. "What about y/n?!"
Donny stopped frowning. He  looked back at the nazis, and the fire that had trapped them. He looked into Hitler's unrecognizable face, then back at Omar, who had untied his explosives. “For Y/n, Donny...”
Donny nodded once, and followed suit.
Tumblr media
The two basterds made it out, and were halfway across the street when the cinema collapsed under hell’s fire.
Omar turned to Donny, "We did it...it's over!" Omar couldn't have been happier.  Despite being one of the younger basterds, he had a wife back in New Jersey, and he couldn't get over the fact that he'd just had a hand in ending the war.
Still, Omar's word's were distant. The fire was surreal. It seemed like a lie, but Donny somehow felt empty.
He'd dedicated the last few years of his life to the war, to the basterds, to this...
 He never thought he'd survive.
But if he did, he couldn't survive without you.
It was all he could think of while the Basterds celebrated in the streets with the rest of France that night. It was all he could think of every time he saw you looking up with your smiling eyes.
It unsettled him to think of going back to the same ordinary life he had before the war. There would be congressional medals and interviews, and gawking crowds, no doubt...but when it was all over, when it was all said and done, he'd go back to Boston, and back to work in his father's barber shop. All the basterds, like every other soldier, were expected to just pick up where they left off...
As much as he'd missed home, it wouldn't be the same without Hugo's glares, Wicki's advice, Aldo's stories, Utivich's backtalking, or Omar's snoring. It wouldn't be the same without you by his side, watching his back, and being his saving grace.
That had been home for so long.
Come sunrise, you'd all be split up. Most of the basterds lived somewhere on the east coast, it wasn't too hard to get most of them together, but a reunion just wasn't the same.
And...Donny kept remembering Omar's question, 'What about y/n?'
What about you?
You were from the West Coast.
The Bay Area was a long way from Boston... You wouldn't make it to most of the basterds' reunions...
He couldn't imagine a morning without seeing your eyes. He couldn't imagine a night without hearing you say "G'night, sarge,' and seeing your playful wink.
As he watched you cheer and laugh with the others, he wondered why he couldn't feel like that...
Then Omar caught his eyes.
Donny raised his eyebrows in apprehension, but then looked back at you. He couldn't lose you. Once you went home, things would change forever.
He walked right up to you, and blurted it out. He'd thought about it. He'd thought about it for longer than he'd care to admit, but it didn't quite come out as he expected. He'd thought about it from the moment he met you...He never thought he'd actually make it out of the war. Especially not after his assignment to Operation Kino.
He got a little embarrassed every time he remembered how he proposed. He was still covered in blood and ashes, smelled like smoke and champagne, still not clear-headed, but barely drunk. He looked at you, the words didn't come out the way he always hoped they would, but....they did get the job done. "You wanna get married?"
The moment the words slipped through his lips, he felt like an idiot...
But, you smiled, and kissed him. He may have been an idiot, but he was your idiot, and he was the happiest basterd in the world. At that moment, he didn't think he could be any happier.
But, things didn't get easier. The war ended for everyone on that street that night, but in his mind it didn't. You were his wife, living in his hometown, everything was almost a dream. But sometimes, his hands felt empy without the bat. Sometimes he got suspicious when he woke up in the middle of the night, and it was too quiet. Sometimes he got nervous, expecting to hear boots marching, or B-17s flying overhead, or nazis whispering in the trees in the yard by the window.
Tumblr media
The only thing that helped him sleep was remembering you were by his side. He was at ease when he held on to you...
'At ease....' Sometimes he could still hear Aldo's voice running through his mind. Donny would realize he was standing at attention, his hands behind his back, waiting...
Tumblr media
He'd have to blink a few times, and remember he was standing in his livingroom, where it was safe and warm. He'd only relax when you planted a kiss on his cheek...
"Donny?"
He'd been staring out the window again.
He blinked "Yeah?"
“Donny.”
He turned to you, “Sorry, doll...”
You smiled a little, and rested the palm of your hand against his cheek. "It's ok, Donny..." He smiled back a little, and felt calm.
"What's going on, doll?"
You smirked a little as you slipped into his lap and wrapped your arms around his neck, "Well, just between you and me, sarge..."
Donny smirked... It always drove him crazy when you called him that. Even in the actual war... and you knew it.
He gruffly held you by your hips, which you realized might not be the best time for it. You rested your hands over his, "Don, wait..."
He quickly pulled his hands away. Donny was usually more on the rough side, but he was always careful to never actually hurt you. He'd never forgive himself. "Doll-"
"No, no, it's ok, it's just that..." You trailed off, wondering how to break the news to Donny.
"Somethings' wrong..." Donny was afraid. He knew things were too good to be true. After all, he had you...
You shook your head, "Nothing's wrong, Don, don't worry..."
"You're driving me crazy doll, what the fuck's going on?"
"Well..." You smiled softly at him as you pulled his hands over your belly, and rested yours over his, "Just between you and me....soon it won't just be you and me."
Donny froze for a second, trying to figure out if he heard and understood that right. He looked at you, and realized he did. He smiled. He hadn't smiled like that in a long time. "A baby?! We're having a baby?!"
You nodded and he kissed you, and picked you up. Donny didn’t think he could have loved you more than he already did, but he was wrong.
A few months went by.
The Basterds were all together, and visiting you and Donny. You were celebrating the second anniversary of the war's end.
Normally, you would all meet in New York because half of the basterds were from New York, Connecticut, or New Jerseey...but...you were due soon, and although you wanted more than anything to go, Donny didn't want to risk a thing.
So the basterds decided to come to you.
It was almost perfect...
By about five o'clock, you ran out of ice. Donny left for few minutes. Seventeen to be exact. It was a five minute walk there. It took seven minutes to get the clerk to shut  up. It took another five minutes to walk back.
When he did get back, everyone was gone...some of the glasses were turned over. Hugo was there.
He was... smiling?
Donny didn't doubt that Hugo snapped. The basterds always joked about that whenever he smiled.
Tumblr media
"Hugo...where is everyone?"
"Let's go, Donny."
"Go... What? Where?!"
Hugo rolled his eyes, "With everybody else."
"Ok....but where is everyone?!"
"With y/n"
"Where's Y/n?!"
Hugo smiled and remained silent.
"Hugo. I'm gonna ask you this one more time. Where is my wife?!"
"Having your baby."
"WHAT?!"
Hugo chuckled, "Calm down, they're already on their way to the hospital."
"HUGO. I NEED TO BE THERE."
"Stay calm."
"I AM FUCKING CALM. YOU  STAY CALM."
"I don't look calm to you?" Hugo chuckled a little as he patted Donny on the back, "Don't worry, Donny. Hirschberg's driving. Utivich is in the back with her and Wicki. Omar and Aldo somehow fit with them."
Donny calmed down a little, knowing Utivich was your best friend, and tended to be able to keep you calm....then he realized Hugo said Hirschberg was driving.
"HIRSCHBERG?! YOU LET FUCKING HIRSCHBERG DRIVE MY PREGNANT WIFE TO THE HOSPITAL?!"
"Ja...." Hugo slowed down....realizing the mistake.... Hirschberg was a little hotheaded when it came to driving. He once ran over seven nazis in a stolen vehicle because Aldo told him to 'hurry up.' He could only imagine how stressed he was with everything that was going on in that car.
Tumblr media
Donny dropped his keys and started running down the street. He was cutting through the streets and alleys, followed by Hugo.
Hugo had never seen Donny run so fast in all the time he'd known him. At one point, he lost sight of Donny and had to ask for directions to the hospital. By the time he arrived, he followed the familiar sound of the basterds' voices,  and  there was a mob of nurses threatening to either sedate Donny or call the police on him if he didn't sit down.
Donny gave up. His status as a war hero didn't matter. He sat by all the other worried, anxious fathers scattered around the waiting room. He rested his forehead in his hands as his legs shook anxiously. He was there when they pulled a bullet out of your hip. You were there to pull him out of the fire. He wanted to be there when you needed him most...
"At ease, soldier, at ease." Aldo chuckled as he sat by Donny.
Donny smiled a little as he turned to Aldo. He stopped shaking his leg.
Aldo smiled a little. He had a little one running around back in Tennessee, just over a year old. The basterds often joked Aldo didn't waste much time. "You know, it's normal. I was the same way." A doctor came out, and they all held their breath.
"Val Vega?" One of the other men in the waiting room rushed out, Aldo chuckled seeing Donny slump down and sigh in exasperation, "How long's it take Aldo?"
"Weellll...." He cracked his knuckles, "Sometimes an hour or two, my honey done took damn near a day." He smiled in nostalgia, and took out a small folded photograph of him and his daughter. "You know, everything changes when you get a little one running around."
"Change?"
Aldo nodded, and Donny noticed the love in his eyes as he focused on the small picture, "You forget about everything else the moment you look at that child... That baby so tiny, you gon' be scared of it. You gon' be scared of all the things that could ever go wrong, and you gon' be scared of all the things you could, and will do wrong...but you ain't ever gon' hurt that little 'un, and you ain't ever gon' let nothin' happen to it."
Tumblr media
"But-"
"Donny, I know you. I know you took care of 'em boys back in France. I know how you took care of Y/n the moment you laid eyes on her. I know you ain't gon' let nothin' happen to that child."
Donny looked down at his hands. For years all he'd done was kill nazis. Aldo knew what was going through his head.
He was in that same place not too long ago...
"Now, look here Donowitz, you made one helluva soldier, one goddamn basterd of a sergeant. You paid off your debit. You took over one hundred nazi scalps. But this is a whole other ballgame, son. You always gon' protect y/n, though between you and me, she ain't need much help...aside from that, you gon' be protective of one life, and one life only." Aldo chuckled, "Well.. till you get another one on the way."
Donny smiled a little, wondering what that perfect life would be like...
Aldo smiled and sighed, "Point is, Donny, you did your due. You pulled your weight. It's time for you to let go of that. We all had to."
Donny looked around at all the basterds. They were pacing around, joking, and smoking together. Sometimes it threw him off to see them all without their boots and knives, and a scalp or two around their belts.
It was odd seeing Hugo in a sweater and a smile, and not undercover with a scowl. It was odd to see Utivich in a clean button up without a drop of blood. It just seemed so surreal.
He wasn't complaining...
He smiled a little, as Aldo went on, "You got yourself one fine life here, Donny. You just gotta live it. Here, and now."
Donny nodded, as he rested his elbow on his knees, and clasped his hands together, and laid his chin over his knuckles. He mumbled, "Here, and now," desparately glancing at the clock.
He almost didn't realize that it was over. All the basterds crowded around him, smiling and cheering him on. His knees were a little shakey when he stood up.
"Donovan Donowitz?"
Donny muttered something under his breath, then nodded, "Yeah that's me..."
"Congratulations, Mr. Donowitz, it’s a boy!"
Donny's heart skipped a beat, his jaw dropped, and he turned to his brothers in arms, "It'S a bOY!!! ITS A BOY! YA HEAR THAT?!"
After the cheering died down, Hugo planted something in Donny's hand.
It was a baseball.
It had all the basterds' signatures on it, and it was tied in a bow.
Omar smirked, "For the kid, not you."
Donny smiled softly, and put in his pocket. "Thanks fellas....I...I gotta.."
Utivich was impatient. He knew that as uncles, they were next in line to see you and the baby... He pushed Donny, "You gotta go."

Donny nodded, "I gotta go see Y/n!" He pushed past the basterds, the doctors, and the mob of nurses finally disassembled, and let him through.
He flung the door open, and his heart stopped the moment he laid eyes on you...
He had never seen you so tired, so worn down, and so beautiful. He saw a blue bundle in your arms...
"Y/n..."
You looked up at Donny, as you gently rocked the baby, and smiled, "Hey there..." You held up the baby's hand, as if he were waving to Donny.
Donny staggered slowly to you.
He pulled hair away from your face, and gasped and spoke softly when he laid eyes on his son for the first time... "Holy shit, Y/n..."
"Donny! Sh...you can't say that in front of him..."
Donny clenched his teeth, "Shit! Sorry! Fuck.....Dammn it! I mean..."
You giggled a little, though it hurt, Donny never failed to bring a smile to your face, "Ok...I think you get an A for effort."
Donny reached for a tissue, and patted away some sweat from your face, "You feel ok, doll? You need anything? Anything hurt? You want me to-"
You shook your head as you looked down at your son, "I'm ok, Donny. Everything's ok. He's ok. More than ok!"
You looked at him in the eyes, and for the first time in a long time, he looked at ease.
Really.
In Donny's eyes, he saw more than the love of his life, and his baby. He saw more than the family and life he always wanted. He saw what he fought for.
You didn't have to say goodbye to each other every morning and fight nazis. That stopped two years before. He didn't have to fight back adrenaline and fear to see another day. He didn't have to fight the urge to stay awake from sunset to sunrise to survive. All that ended two years before.
Donny didn't have to fight for anything except for his family.
"Do you want to hold him?"
Donny looked up at you, hesitant for a moment as he once again looked down at his hands.
You rested one hand over his, and whispered, "It's ok, Don. You're his pop...you and I are the last ones on eath to ever let anything happen to him. It's ok."
Donny smiled a little as he took his baby in his arms, careful to hold up the head. He laughed a little, out of sheer happiness, "Hey, kid..."
It was as if a blind fold was ripped from his eyes. He had everything. He had nothing to be afraid of. He was Donny Donowitz. You were his world. His son was his sky. No one would take that from him.
Not even an army could.
He smiled, his shoulders relaxed as he sat back, cooing at his son, and trying to convince you that naming him after "Teddy fucking Williams," was a great idea.
That night, the war was finally over in Donny’s eyes.
Donny could rest now...
Until 3AM, when Lee got hungry. (You won the name argument.) Other than that, you and Lee were the reason Donny's war finally ended.
Four years later, on Lee's birthday, and on the sixth anniversary of Operation Kino's success, the basterds were all together again, this time by Aldo's cabin up in the Smoky Mountains.
Donny held on to his new baby, his four month old daughter, Bridget with his left hand, and wrapped his right arm around you, as Lee played with Aldo, Hugo, and Omar's kids.
The day before he met you, Donny never expected to love anything more than killing nazis, and his bloody bat.
The night he met you, he never wanted anything more than to end the war with you by his side.
When he got what he wanted, he somehow felt empty...but seeing his family, the brothers he never had, and the love he'd never lose finally living at peace in the world he fought to save, Donny realized he had what he never imagined. He was happier than he'd ever been in his life.
As he rocked his daughter to sleep, he kissed you on the lips. He owed his life, his freedom, and his happiness all to you... He may have repaid his debt to Aldo, but he'd always owe his love and his world to you. As Lee laughed and ran around, and the basterds laughed around a fire like the old days, Donny smiled. He kissed you on the cheek, and sighed in relief as he took it all in.
Donny knew this was it.
He had all the people that mattered by his side, and a life that he fought so hard to protect. Donny smiled, knowing that it would never feel empty again.

Pentagon X Movie Night
Request:  Hiii :3 I saw you made reactions so I was wondering if you could make one for me as well! Can I get a reaction/ scenario pentagon watching a movie with you (as a couple)? Thanks :3
A/N: Heey love! Thank you so much for your request. It turn out a bit different than I thought it would, but I hope you still enjoy it! Sorry if there are any grammar errors, English isn’t my first language! 🌱🌸
Tumblr media
·       Jinho
He really likes to take you on actual movie dates at the cinema. Going out to the movies makes watching movies with you more special. Small fight over who is going to pay this time. “It is my turn to pay this time”. “No way, you paid last time. I will pay this time”. He pays, but you pay the snacks. Holds your hand at a romantic scene or a scary scene. If there aren’t many people he would be more affectionate.
·       Hwitaek (Hui)
Hwitaek is very funny to watch movies with. He talks to the characters and tells them what they are doing wrong. “Are you seriously not seeing he is a bad guy? He has a evil laugh for crying out loud”. Hwitaek’s commentary is usually funnier than the movie itself. Watching horror movies with Hwitaek is the most funny thing in the world “ARE YOU DUMB! There is a knife RIGHT there”. *Actor grabs the knife* “Thank you! See if you listen to me you will survive!”.
·       Hongseok
A big Marvel fan so be prepared to rematch every Marvel movie ever made. He is also a big fan of thriller or action movies. He is hard to convince into watching another genre. “Please baby, It is a really good movie! I want to watch it with you”. “Okay fine, but you make the popcorn this time then”. He totally loves the movie you pick though.
·       Hyojong (Edawn)
Hyojong is very absent while watching movies. He is watching you and the movie at the same time. So when you react to the movie, he doesn’t know what really happened. The question he will mostly ask while watching movies is “What just happened” or “Wait how is he again”. Not always though. Some movies really got him invested in them, but mostly he just like to watch you reacting to the movie.
·       Shinwon
One thing that is more important than which movie you two are watching, is the which snacks to get. You two have a curtain type of food you eat while watching a movie. Romantic movie means chocolate and strawberries. Emotional movie means ice cream and a horror movie means popcorn. This boy takes watching movies with you and the foods that comes along with it VERY seriously.
·       Changgu (Yeo One)
Friday night is movie night. You both can pick a movie you want to watch and you eat dinner on the couch. It is a tradition you two picked up when you started dating. Any genre will do, you two just enjoy each other’s company and cuddle while watching the movie. If any of you can’t make it for movie night you move it to Saturday morning.
·       Yanan
Yanan likes to watch movies a lot. Watching Chinese movies are the most easy for him to watch. Korean or English subtitles in the cinemas are usually very hard to follow so that is why he rather watches the movie with you at home. That way he can put on Chinese lyrics (at least when you are watching a English movie). He is always hyped about the movies you like recommend. He is very quiet while watching movies, but very energetic and hyped about it afterwards.
·       Yuto
This boy is the master of the cuddle movie dates. Watching movies with Yuto always includes hugging or at least physical contact. He may not look like it, but he is a real koala bear. It doesn’t matter what genre of movie you two watch as long it is not horror. Once you tricked him into watching a horror movie. He hide his face in your neck and just clings to you till the end of the movie. “It wasn’t that scary”.
·       Hyunggu (Kino)
Hyunggu is very invested in the movie and really goes into character. So if it is an emotional movie he WILL cry. When you just started dating he was trying to hide it, but once he saw he saw you cry as well he will cry with you. Action movies will get Hyunggu very hyped and pumped. Horror movies start the living shit out of him. Watching a movie with Hyunggu is like having the main character sitting next to you.
·       Wooseok
Movie nights with Wooseok just kind of happen. You look on Netflix if there is a film you both like to see. Usually you find a movie pretty quick and don’t really fight about with movie you want to watch. “O that is a good movie! I saw it once” he would say. “Don’t you mind watching it again”. “No it is fun, plus I really want to see your reaction”. Really relaxed and cuddly on the couch, you both end up falling asleep on the couch.

What would the boys' ideal dates be?
Shu: If you could actually drag him out for a date he would like a classy live music restaurant with a relaxing melody and good steak.
Reiji: He will take you on exquisite date to a five star restaurant which is extremely expensive, and he’d bring you a huge bouquet of flowers and the night would be followed by moonlit dancing.
Ayato: A super fun date is best with Ayato, so you two will hit up the arcades and maybe a theme park, if theres a Takoyaki stall too even better.
Kanato: He will take you for a walk in the moonlight, or a picnic in the graveyard. Or perhaps to one of his favourite candy stores, but don’t think he’ll share with you.
Laito: Ideally he wants to be in the bedroom with you on the first date, but he also enjoys the game of it, and being a charming gentleman is all apart of the act so he likes to go to cafes and sample deserts with his date.
Subaru: The idea of a date terrifies him and he has know idea where to take you, he thinks about dinner because thats most typical in the movies. Or he considers the cinemas, but in the end you both just end up walking about aimlessly and he feels bad about it but it ended up being fun and adventurous.
Kino: He wants to be somewhere lively where he feels connected to the atmosphere like an arcade or a shopping mall, he also needs to be near an outlet to charge his mobile phone.
Ruki: He would enjoy dining with his date, it’s simple and classical but he finds it a good way to see how well mannered they are and their public personality.
Kou: He likes to be trendy so would take you somewhere hot right now, somewhere he can take cute Instagram photos and apart from the portion of the date when he starts taking numerous photos you two have bubble tea and rainbow candy floss, so it was a lot of fun!
Yuma: Yuma isn’t much of a date person and has trouble finding a good place to take you, he considers helping him out in the garden a date, any time spent with you is a date in his eyes. I can see him and his date preparing fresh vegetables and fruits into snacks and having a forrest picnic.
Azusa: He doesn’t care where you go as long as you have a good time, he would probably choose something sweet and romantic like a boat ride in the park.
Carla: He would take his date to a grand art museum and decide weather they were the right person for them on their view and comments on the art they see, if he approves then after they’ll dine in a good quality restaurant where he can get his fix of ham.
Shin: He isn’t too picky but wants somewhere good enough for his standards, even if it’s something simple like walking his wolves in the forrest, as long as its something that will entertain him and keep his attention its good, maybe you can split a peanut butter cupcake in a cafe if he likes you a lot.
This was fun :)
I’ve never wrote for Carla, Shin or Kino before and this was my first attempt so I’m sorry if it wasn’t perfect so let me know how I did!

WORKSHOP - EUROPA CINEMAS 2021
Tumblr media
By Maria Harrison (pics © Eliška Soukupová)
One of the three workshops we got the opportunity to choose from was the workshop Best Practices at Europa Cinemas. It was held by Irene Angel Echeverri. Together with some of the other 27 Times Cinema ambassadors, I attended two sessions. Before explaining more about the content of it, I would like to thank Irene again for giving us these interesting insights and letting us discuss these topics in a very relaxed atmosphere.
On the first day, we focused on ourselves, got to know each other more. What are we really passionate for? What do we do, and what do we want to do in the future? Furthermore, we started talking about Marketing. What is Marketing for us? Most of us were new to this field and haven’t thought about this side of cinema that much before. Through a graphic, Irene explained the so-called “Cycle” to us. It consists of four parts: Great Art, Aggressive Marketing, Family, Money. It is a theory that gives the investment into Great Art priority. Great Art, which should then be marketed aggressively to attract a Family. The income that will come thanks to this Family is invested into more art, which will be marketed again and so on. This cycle is especially important for long-term planning.
----
The second round of our workshop came along, this time in the inside of Casa Degli Autori (rather than getting too hot in the Venetian sun). During this second meeting, the main focus was put on what concrete strategies cinemas actually follows in their marketing and what strategies make sense in order to keep people interested or donors willing to give money to the cinema.
We started with three short examples of cinemas that promote their programme in innovative ways. Firstly, Kinodvor in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This cinema not only screens a diverse selection of films, it also hosts several special events. Its main goal is to educate teenagers and children from a young age and reach a young audience, but also to please the more demanding audience that they also have. For this reason, they try to become a meeting point in the city. In order to keep the young audience attracted to their cinema, they started a festival, which is not only for youth but also by the youth. The young cinephiles create the program, etc.
Similar to this, the Polish Cinema Kino Pod Baranami, in Kraków, promotes film for all ages and interests. They also give the audience the chance to take part in decisions that are made about the program. Other than that, they try to broaden their audience by being very active on every social media platform and offering events around the screenings.
Last but not least, we talked about the Cineciutat in Mallorca, which I won’t go into further detail, as it would go beyond the scope of this article.
Talking about these cinemas was so interesting as it exemplified how good marketing strategies work and how crucial they are  -and probably becoming more and more in times of streaming platforms and such-. Especially for a young audience, independent cinema has to be made attractive and these three lovely sounding cinemas are good examples of how to make it work, especially through giving audiences the possibility to be part of it.
Furthermore, we discussed the main rules of good fundraising. What I mainly learned from this was that fundraising is about making people talk about your art, make it interesting. To achieve that, invite potential donors (do research on who will actually spend money on your project before inviting too many people!) to cultivation events a few times a year. It is also important to plan what you have and what you don’t have and understand your strengths, weaknesses and opportunities as an institution.
This is obviously a very large topic to cover, and I only touched upon a few things more closely of all the things that we discussed in the workshop. It was great to get some insights on themes that we were all quite new to and that are nevertheless so important to build a vibrant cinema.

MÜLLER ECKE AFRIKA – Reallife Tales from the ‘Hood
Tumblr media
January 8, 2016
Sometimes the best stories are right outside your door. Filmmaker Martin Helmbrecht, based in Berlin’s working class Wedding district, took this to heart with the three-part  documentary series MÜLLER ECKE AFRIKA (Müller Corner Africa, available with English subtitles on realeyz) he conceived and co-directed with Andy Fiebert. Each episode of MÜLLER ECKE AFRIKA portrays an  inhabitant of  Wedding’s so-called „African Quarter“ (Afrikanisches Viertel), originally planned as a zoological park with streets named after Imperial Germany’s colonial possessions in Africa. World War 1 thwarted these plans, but the street names remained when Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and other modernist architectects built housing projects there in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1990s, migrants from African states such as Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria moved to the quarter, so its name actually reflected somewhat the population. The series‘ protagonists are Rob Stöwe, the owner of a Western-style clothing store; activist-historians Israel Kaunatjike and Mnyaka Sururu Mboro; Syrian musician-composer and music bar proprietor Bakri Maslmani. In the following interview, Martin Helmbrecht talks about the journey of his unique documentary project.
realeyz: What was the inspiration for MÜLLER ECKE AFRIKA?
Martin Helmbrecht: I’ve been living in the neighborhood (“Kiez”) for the past ten years. On my street corner – Lüderitzstrasse and Kameruner Strasse – there has been a considerable transformation during the past two years. New stores open, students move here, street life is becoming more vibrant – the Kiez is awakening from its deep sleep. I wanted to chronicle this process. Observe the people who live here and let them tell their own stories. At the same time, a film job didn’t work out, so I knew I would have less money, but more time. So this was my chance.
How did you choose the protagonists?
The three protagonists personify the three main topics: traditions in the Kiez, history (the German colonial legacy) and the energy newcomers bring. Rob has been living on Kameruner Strasse where his store is since age five. He’s a product of West Berlin times and continues to manage the store his father founded. That’s living tradition.
Israel and Mboro tell about the consequences of German colonial policy, based upon their own experiences. And they can trace the colonial legacy by the street names in the neighborhood. That’s living history.
Bakri didn’t know if the African Quarter was former East or West Berlin or which side of the Wall it was on. That’s why the Wall fell, so that it would not matter anymore which side you were on. Bakri stands for the new energy and commitment he and newcomers generally bring to the Quarter, unencumbered by the past.
How did you research and prepare the series?
If you live here in the neighborhood, then you can hardly overlook Rob’s store. I approached him and he immediately agreed. Israel I knew from a street tour he regularly offers with the “Berlin Postkolonial” association. His connection to Mboro turned out to be perfect for our purposes. Bakri was interviewed in a local paper. When I read it I knew immediately that he’s the guy I need, and he didn’t disappoint me.
Tumblr media
How easy or difficult was it to gain the protagonists‘ trust?
Generally easy, except for Bakri. Everyone had something to say or a life experience to share. And they were willing to do that on camera. Bakri, on the other hand, is rather shy and was concerned that if he talked too much about his difficulties with Berlin bureaucracy, this could have negative consequences for him.
Were there any particularly funny or remarkable experiences or even challenges during the shooting?
How we got the hat scene in the Rob episode was really great. We had just done a few shots with Rob. Then he walks towards the camera and puts the hat on. In the background some people were sitting in front of the “Bantou Village” African restaurant which is right next to Rob’s store. To be on the safe side I asked the restaurant patrons if they would mind being seen on camera. The response was very relaxed. They joked that they would really enjoy appearing in the film… if they got hats. So Rob went back into the store and brought out a pile of Stetsons. This became a beautiful image of friendship out of what I originally saw as a stark contrast – a Western store and an African restaurant right next to each other.
How did the protagonists react to the completed films?
Each protagonist saw his film before the public premiere. It was very moving to see father and son Stöwhase watching the film side by side. They kept pinching each in the side and laughing. By the end their eyes were moist. I realized then that something went right. With Israel and Mboro I was a bit afraid that I subtitled two terms they used in German. But that didn’t bother them. Bakri to this day asks me if I could change this or that and never runs out of suggestions.
What was the response at screenings outside of Wedding or even Berlin? Are there plans for new episodes?
The response at the premiere in January was so positive that we still are getting requests for screenings. There was a well attended screening at the Moviemento cinema in Kreuzberg, and rbb public television covered the series.
We’re already producing the next episodes: at least three with female protagonists in the African Quarter, to be completed in 2014. And we will probably update Bakri’s story. His parents fled from Aleppo to Lebanon years ago. Soon they hope to get visa for Germany. They will build a new life here, and we really want to follow those developments.
All four episodes of MÜLLER ECKE AFRIKA (including a new one completed in mid-2015) will be screening on January 18, 2016, 8:30 p.m., at Kino Lichtblick, Kastanienallee 77 in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. There will be a Q&A with Martin Helmbrecht after the screening. Co-sponsored by Exberliner and Kino Lichtblick.
Interview: Natalie Gravenor (first published June 2014)

Fun Facts:
The famous "Heinzelmännchen" come from the world of fairy tales and legends. In a poem from Cologne, you can read about these little people who helped the poor by secretly doing their work for them during the night.
The ZDF (Second German Television channel), which has its headquarters in Mainz, then created six little men (with names alphabetically from A–F), who help with the TV advertising. Using a play on words, they were named the "Mainzelmännchen." Their tricks are often so funny that no one wants to leave the TV during commercials. No one wants to miss the Mainzelmännchen—and that's just FINE with the sponsors and ZDF!
ARD, which stands for Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschlands, or the "Consortium of public-law broadcasting institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany," is a group of both regional and international television channels and radio stations. ARD began in 1950 when Germany´s experience with media abuse in the years prior to 1945, the Nazi period, encouraged the country to decide to make radio and television in what was at the time West Germany, independent of government and interest group influence.
Just as in the United States, the media play a large role in shaping modern-day German society. It provides entertainment as well as information about the day´s happenings within Germany and around the world. It molds opinion and influences even the youngest of viewers.
Primetime quizshows have become increasingly more popular within Germany over the last number of years. The original hit Quizshow was Glücksrad, which was a take-off of the hit game show Wheel of Fortune and ran between 1988 and 1998. Since its end, Germans have come to love other popular primetime game shows such as Deal or No Deal—Die Show der Glücksspirale and Wer wird Millionär.
Franka Potente, born in 1974, got her start in acting while growing up in her native country of Germany. She hit it big in Europe with the German film Lola rennt (Run Lola Run) in 1999. The film won international film awards. She made her English language debut in 2001. Franka Potente is most well known in the U.S. for her role starring opposite Matt Damon in the films The Borne Identity in 2002 and The Borne Supremacy in 2004.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, a native Austrian, has made his name known world wide through a variety of venues. From body building to acting to his current position of Governor of California, Schwarzenegger is one of the most well known Austrians around.
He has been in dozens of films like The Terminator and Predator. Just in the summer of 2006, Schwarzenegger made an animated cameo in Pixar´s Cars as the voice of the Governator.

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND May 17, 2019  - JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3, A DOG’S JOURNEY, THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR
Well, the summer is grinding along at a rather slow pace. Granted, it’s only the third or fourth official weekend, depending on when you started counting, and if you live in New York City, it doesn’t really feel like summer at all, but as has been the case since starting my beat at The Beat, I hope people will be reading this for the limited releases and repertory stuff, which I try to make fairly comprehensive and complete.
Tumblr media
Normally, I wouldn’t be too impressed with Lionsgate’s decision to release Keanu Reeves’ JOHN WICK CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM in the summer, but surprise, surprise, I actually liked this one. A LOT! I already reviewed the movie for The Beat, a review which you can read here, but I do think that most of the people who liked the first movie will like this one, too, as it adds the likes of Halle Berry, Asia Kate Dillon  (Orange is the New Black) and Mark Dacascos to flesh out the mythology while sending John Wick on the run as he’s excommunicated from the assassin’s guild.
I don’t have as much an opinion about the doggie sequel A DOG’S JOURNEY (Universal). I mean, I like dogs just fine, but I never got around to seeing A Dog’s Purpose, and I’m not sure I can follow this movie’s high-concept premise without having seen it. Apparently, a dog dies and then keeps coming back as another dog in order to protect Dennis Quaid’s daughter… no, I don’t get how that works either, but I’ll probably never see this.
The other movie I’ve seen which opens Friday is Ry Russo-Young’s THE SUN IS ALSO A STAR (Warner Bros./MGM), based on the novel by Nicola Yoon, starring Yara Shahidi (black-ish,grown-ish) and Charles Melton from Riverdale. If you know me at all, then you can probably guess that I’ve never seen those shows, but I have seen Russo-Young’s other films, and she’s a director that’s definitely grown on me as she’s taken on YA adaptations. I’m not going to write a full review of this one (due to time constraints and illness) but I was generally mixed on it. I thought the two young actors were fantastic, and this was a perfectly nice romantic film that generally used its New York locations well, but there were definitely parts where I was just bored and not that into the story. It’s a shame, because I usually buy into the whole fate and destiny thing, especially when it come to romance, but this one just gets silly at times.
You can find out what I think of the above film’s box office prospects over at The Beat.
LIMITED RELEASES
This is a very busy week for limited releases with a lot of things coming out of the woodwork at the last minute… and honestly, most of what I’ve seen is just okay, at best.
Tumblr media
Jack O’Connell plays Cameron Todd Willingham in Ed Zwick’s TRIAL BY FIRE (Roadside Attractions), based on the true story of the Texas man accused of murdering his three young daughters via arson in 1991. He spent 12 years on Death Row before his case found its way to writer Elizabeth Gilbert, played by Laura Dern, who tries to negate the evidence against Willingham. I wanted to like this movie more than I did, because it is an interesting story with a decent script written by Oscar winner Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious), based on an article by New Yorker writer David Grann (apparently all of his articles become movies, so he has a good agent, huh?). The movie is generally okay, mainly due to the fantastic rounded performance by O’Connell but it’s also quite long-winded and didn’t need to be over two hours to get its point across.
Joanna Hogg’s autobiographical British indie THE SOUVENIR (A24) stars Honor Swinton Byrne (yes, that’s Tilda’s daughter) as film school student Julie who encounters and gets involved with a gregarious and opinionated older man named named Anthony (Tom Burke) who turns out to be a heroin junkie who effectively sabotages the film she’s trying to get made. While I can generally understand what Hogg was trying to do with this movie, I found it very long and drawn-out, and I was even more shocked to learn that this was meant to be the first of a two-part movie, but no, I won’t bother with Part 2 even if it does star Robert Pattinson, probably as another dick who tries to derail Julie’s career, cause that’s what men do.
The Lunchbox director Ritesh Batra returns to India for the romantic drama PHOTOGRAPH (Amazon) about Rafi (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), a man from a poor village who takes a picture of student named Miloni (Sanya Malhotra) and sends it to his grandma, saying it’s his new girlfriend, so she’ll get off his back about marrying. Rafi sends his grandma a picture of Miloni, but then has to convince Miloni to play along and meet his grandmother when she comes to Mumbai. As the two spend more time getting to know each other, a romance begins. It’s a nice movie, maybe not quite as great as The Lunchbox, but a nice date night movie for sure.
Opening at the Metrograph, which is in the midst of a Ryusuke Hamaguchi retrospective, is the Japanese filmmaker’s most recent film ASAKO I AND II (Grasshopper Films), based on the novel by Tomoka Shibasaki. It begins with a romance between a shy girl from (Asako, played by Erika Karata) who falls for a young man named Baku (Masahiro Higashide), who suddenly vanishes on her. She ends up moving to Tokyo and meeting another man named Ryohei, who is Baku’s spitting image – maybe because he’s also played by Higashide. A relationship develops between them until Asako learns what happened to Baku. This is definitely a strange but mostly satisfying romance story that would be a great date night double feature of Photograph.
From Sweden comes Pella Kagerman and Hugo Lilja’s sci-fi thriller ANIARA (Magnet Releasing), which takes place on the title spaceship which is taking the three-week journey to Mars full of thousands of passengers when it’s knocked off course. The problem is that it might take years to get back on course, which immediately throws everyone on board into a panic. At the center of it is Emelie Jonsson’s woman who runs a “Mima chamber” where people can go to relax, a chamber that gets increasingly more busy until it breaks down and then things just get completely crazy.  If you wondered what Passengersmight have been like if Gaspar Noe directed it then Aniarais the movie for you, but I did like Jonsson’s character arc as she ends up starting a relationship with a woman officer on the ship and where that story goes.
Karen Gillan stars in Collin Schiffli’s ALL CREATURES HERE BELOW (Samuel Goldwyn), which is written by and co-stars David Dastmalchian from Ant-Manand other films. It deals with a couple living in poverty, forcing him to break the law, as they set off to find refuge in Kansas City. I haven’t seen it but it sounds interesting with that casting.
Shirley Jackson’s 1962 mystery novel WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE CASTLE (Brainstorm Media)is adapted by filmmaker Stacie Passon with an all-star cast including Taissa Farmiga, Alexandra Daddario, Sebastian Stan and Crispin Glover. Farmiga plays Merricat who lives with her sister Constance (Daddario) and uncle (Glover), the only survivors of a poisonic that killed the rest of their family five years earlier. When their cousin Charles (Stan) arrives, asking about the family’s finances, it begins a battle for control as tragedy looms.
Now playingat the Film Forum is The Third Wife (Film Movement), Ash Mayfair’s Vietnamese drama set in the 19th Century about a 14-year-old named May, who becomes the third wife of a much older man. With a mostly female cast and crew, the film has drawn comparisons to Zhang Yimou’s Raise the Red Lantern and some of the flashbacks in The Joy Luck Club (which I recently rewatched and cried my eyes out, but don’t tell anyone).
Then opening Friday at the Film Forum is Andrey Paunov’s documentary Walking on Water (Kino Lorber), about artist Christo and his late wife Jeanne-Claude, who had built some of the most amazing large-scale installations including the famous “The Gates” in Central Park and their most recent project “The Floating Piers” over Lake Iseo in Italy. The movie will open in L.A. and San Fran next Friday, May 24.
Johnny Depp stars in Wayne Roberts’ The Professor (Saban Films), a movie that seems to be getting dumped into theaters after a DirecTV release. Depp plays Richard, a college lecturer who discovers he has six months to live so he turns into a party animal, much to the shock of his wife (Rosemarie DeWitt) and chancellor (Ron Livingston). Also costarring Zoey Deutch, it opens in select cities.
Kevin and Michael Goetz’s A Violent Separation (Screen Media) stars Brenton Thwaites as Norman Young, deputy of a midwstern town who is forced to arrest his older brother Ray (Ben Robson) for murder. Things get more difficult when Norman gets involved with the victim’s younger sister (Alycia Debnam-Carey). It opens at New York’s Cinema Village and a few other theaters as well as On Demand.
Now playing at the Roxy Cinema in New York is Matt Hinton’s doc Parallel Love: The Story of a Band Called Luxury (Abramorama) about the small-town band Luxury, whose career almost ended in a wreck, but who continue to make records even as three members become priests.
Another music-related doc out this week is the Cordero Brothers thriller Room 37 - The Mysterious Death of Johnny Thunders (Cleopatra Entertainment), which as you might guess from the title is about famed rocker Johnny Thunders (Leo Ramsay) and how his trip to New Orleans to get his life together turned deadly.
This week’s Bollywood offering is Aki Ali’s De De Pyaar De, starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh in a London-based love triangle.
Opening in New York this Friday, then in L.A. May 24 and VOD June 21 is Eddie Alcazar’s Perfect  (Breaker Films), exec. produced by Steven Soderbergh, which stars Garrett Wareing as a troubled young man sent to a clinic by his mother (Abbie Cornish) to help with his dark visions.
Next up is Rachel Carey’s Ask for Jane  (Level Film) starring Cait Cortelyou in a timely movie set in Chicago 1969 where abortion is punishable by prison and two women try to find a doctor to help a pregnant student at the University of Chicago has tried to kill herself. The two women end up forming the Jane Collective, an organization that helps women get safe abortions.
Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole, Hermione Corfield, Michael Sheen, Margot Robbie, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg star in Crispian Mills’ horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez set in a British boarding school where monsters have been unleashed from a sinkhole. The movie was a hit in England but is barely getting a release in the States even with that amazing cast.
STREAMING AND CABLE
Not much of note on Netflix except Kate Melville’s rom-com Good Sam, a movie about a reporter who is trying to find a stranger who is leaving bags of money all around New York City.
I probably haven’t been paying enough attention to the streaming service MUBU, but in honor of the Cannes Film Festival that started this week, the service is doing a “Cannes Takeover” which includes Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park, Crisi Piu’s The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, Alejandro Innaritu’s Amores Perrosand other films that broke out of the French film festival.

Sadly, the Trilogies series ends Thursday, but the Film Forum will screen a 4k restoration of Alain Resnais’ Last Year at Marienbad (1961), and this weekend’s Film Forum Jr.offering is Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands  (1990), starring Johnny Depp. Dan Streible is back with his eclectic of shorts called More Orphans of New York.

This week, the Aero begins the Passion of Pier Paolo Pasolini series (probably in conjunction with Abel Ferrara’s film, which finally gets a theatrical release) with a series of double features: Solo, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975) and Pigsty (1969) on Thursday, The Decameron  (1970) and Oedipus Rex (1967) on Friday, The Canterbury Tales (1971) and Teorema (1968) on Saturday, and Arabian Nights (1974)and Medea (1969) on Sunday. On Monday, they’ll screen a rare 35mm print of Pasonlini’s The Gospel According to St. Matthew(1964). Since I really enjoyed Ferrara’s new film starring Willem Dafoe, I’m bummed I missed the Metrograph’s retrospective of Pasolini last year, but this is a good chance to see this prolific Italian filmmaker’s often-controversial work.
QUAD CINEMA (NYC):
Another great series begins at the Quad this weekend with Fighting Mad: German Genre Films from the Margins, based around Dominik Graf’s two-part documentary A Journey Through German Film. Graf programmed the series with Olaf Müller, who presents a few of the screenings. It’s a pretty rich series with no films that I personally have had a chance to see – I have a couple screeners to watch – but there are sure to be a few gems in there if you have time to see some of the 17 movies.
IFC CENTER (NYC)
Waverly Midnights: ParentalGuidance  will screen Roman Polanski’s horror classicRosemary’s Baby (1968) and James Cameron’s Aliens (again). Abel Ferrara: Unrated continues with 1986’s Crime Story on Wednesday, 1993’s Dangerous Game on Thursday, Welcome to New York  (2014) on Sunday and Piazza Vittorio (2017) and 4:44 Last Day on Earth  (2011) on Sunday. Pentagon reaction to you feeling overwhelmed
Jinho
He’d be so worried about you. Constantly wondering if you’re okay, if you’ve slept, if you’ve eaten. He’d never leave you on your own, afraid that something might happen if you’re alone. So he’d be there, beside you until he felt that you were okay again.
Tumblr media
Hui
He’d just hold you. Your tears would fall onto his shirt whilst he’d stroke your hair comfortingly. Cuddling you would be his form of medicine for you. If he couldn't, he’d have no idea what to say. The only way he felt that he could be there for you was by holding you, so that you knew that he was there.
Tumblr media
Hongseok
He’d sing to you so softly that if you breathed too loudly, you wouldn’t be able to hear it. He’d sing a song about being strong, hoping that you could, for one second, forget all your worries and be happy. That would be his one wish. cuz he’s a mum
Tumblr media
E’Dawn
His presence would be enough for you to relax. Whenever he’d be away, it would feel like everything was so much more empty. However, when he’d be with you, you’d feel like everything is perfect, like the world is perfect. He’d never want to leave you alone but he’d know that sometimes, you have to go through certain things by yourself so that you can overcome it. He’s wise like that.
Tumblr media
Shinwon
He’d only want to make you laugh. He’d be the type to cook you dinner (which would be very rare) and wear one of those aprons with like a six-pack or something. Once he’d walk in, still with the apron on, you’d burst out laughing and he’d feel like he had accomplished his life goal.
Tumblr media
Yeo One
He’s a cheesy lil thang so he’d gather chick flick movies, chocolates and instant ramyun and would make a small cinema in your living room. He’d lay out some candles and the atmosphere would just be so calm and relaxed. When you’d get home, he’d rush to you and demand you to close your eyes, leading you into the lounge, which looked like an explosion of sweetness.
Tumblr media
Yanan
He wouldn’t know what to do or how to make you feel better, he’d just know that he had to make you smile. He’d be fully prepared to make a fool of himself and he’d probably get onto the couch that you’re lying on and just crawl on top of you, moving you over a bit so that he could cuddle you. He’d know that it’s the small things that count.
Tumblr media
Yuto
He’d feel so disappointed that you couldn’t relax and just be happy and calm. He wouldn’t be disappointed in you, he’d be disappointed in himself. He’d feel helpless because he wouldn’t know how to help you. He’d be constantly wondering and thinking about what he could do to make you feel better. So eventually, he’d decide to take you to a park and just sit on some swings with ice cream so that you could talk to each other, for him, communication is the most important thing.
Tumblr media
Kino
He’d do so much aegyo just to see you cringe because he’d know that when you cringe at him, you’re secretly happy and find it adorable. He’d teach you some dances or would take you to karaoke, so that you can sing Big Bang together and just let go. He’d be waiting for that one moment during the night where you’d smile genuinely, forgetting about whatever had made you feel so stressed.
Tumblr media
Wooseok
He’d see you sat on the couch, looking completely distraught and he’d come over to you. Sitting down on the floor opposite you, you’d stare at him questioningly, wondering what the hell he was doing. After a few moments, he’d pull the derpiest expression he could manage and would keep it on his face until you’d crack a smile. Because let’s face it, Wooseok is a literal meme.
