I totally agree with your concept of love!! Too many people rely on the feeling of love instead of choosing to love someone, and they don't realize love takes work. You know?
tee my darlin, we're on the exact same page. I've been ruminating on this for a bit, trying to figure out the best way to say this without being Annoying, but it always comes back to this: love, the kind that lasts a lifetime, is a choice.
i know i got into it a bit here, but like. if you don't expect any other emotion to last forever, why is there a belief that love will? media is beautiful in the sense that we get to have some of the most amazing adventures, but it's also so damaging in how it twists the perception of what a healthy relationship looks like, or what real standards of love are. I could whip out a dozen examples, but they all boil down to how setting an unrealistic expectation for a very impressionable audience negatively influences their idea of what love, romantic or otherwise, is--particularly the young adults that haven't experienced love yet or don't have a healthy example to look up to. love, whether you're on the receiving or giving side, is not an excuse for bad behavior, and nor is it as eternal as media claims.
in my experience, as someone happily engaged and who's been spending a lot of time talking to Older Folks about what's made their marriages last (or end), the longest love is two-sided and it takes work. anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or has found someone willing to sacrifice everything in order to keep their partner happy.
love is not sacrifice, but it requires compromise; love is not pain, but it requires the memory of happiness in order to continue. love is born from an emotion, but it continues with the conscious decision to make it so. if you're not happy, sad, angry, anxious, etc. 100% of the time, how can you expect love, as an emotion, to exist 100% of the time?
don't get me wrong, love is certainly something you feel, and if you don't feel it, you can not force it--but if you're looking for the kind of love that lasts a lifetime, you've got to be willing to make it a choice, too.
(interestingly, and for another tangent, is how so many continuations/time skips focus on how the original love interests separated after Some Time and are either (1) finding a new love story or (2) rekindling their love... almost like Hollywood is admitting they care more about telling how two people FALL in love and less about what someone has to do in order to make it last a lifetime... but I digress).

She Calls Me Back Arthur’s perspective
So I’ve already analyzed the original version through the lens of Merthur and it was very much Merlin’s perspective and I’m so happy that Kacey’s verse is applicable to Arthur.
I'm runnin' out of tears to cry They’re gone before they hit my cheeks
Near the end Arthur’s no longer the prince he once was in some ways that’s good but he’s also somewhat jaded. He’s been turned against again and again. It still upsets him but he’s not going to cry over his lost relationship with Morgana, Gwen or Mordred. He gets angry, confused and other emotions but he’s not allowed to show weakness like crying. The same applied to when he felt like Merlin betrayed him in the reveal.

Like I said Arthur changed over time. Though this also makes me think of Arthur’s death like I discussed so much in my first analysis. Arthur’s view on magic changes as they ride to attempt to save his life. Maybe it’s air the life that Merlin described the first time he considered accepting magic or maybe the something that’s changing him is love. If Merlin is magic it can’t possibly be evil.
If you think that you could wake me up Then you don't know how well I sleep
Arthur is stubborn this could be him thinking that Merlin can’t change his mind once he’s been decided.
You love me and I don't know why I only call you once a week
Arthur doesn’t make Merlin a priority. He doesn’t understand why Merlin cares about him so much. He brushes him off. He chose Gwen but Merlin’s still here. After the reveal he realizes it’s even worse than that he perpetuates a rule that would see all that Merlin is destroyed.
Does it bite at your edges? Do you lie awake restless?
Before the reveal Arthur wonders if Merlin worries about Camelot as much as he does, if he feels some of the burden that Arthur carried as his closest confident. After the reveal Arthur wondered if Merlin’s secret constantly ripped him apart. If Merlin laid awake wondering if it was his last. If Merlin worried not only death by his enemies but befalling it by those he cared for the most.

Arthur wondered why Merlin cared so much, why he was so devoted. He wondered how Merlin could read him like an open book, how he could provide the right words and advice.

Hey it’s AEW anon once again- I loved hearing your thoughts on Danhausen and your post about Hangman Adam Page. The idea of Ler Danhausen has me quite flustered not gonna lie I feel like he’d be so naturally good at it 😆 and I can imagine Adam Page would be such a cute lee. Seeing as you seem to be such a big fan of Ethan Page, what are your thoughts on him? He has such a delightfully infectious laugh. I think that he’s really charming and underrated. I’ll be honest idk barely anything about Brody but I can see that
I can see him being a ler leaning switch
Definitely usually prefers being the ler but doesn’t mind leeing sometimes
Just has to be the right time and right people
Tbh you’d be surprised but he doesn’t prefer rough tickles that much
He’ll definitely be rougher if a lee is clearly wanting it but usually he leans soft / playful
He gives me ticklish neck vibes, maybe ribs and pits too?
No true favorite spot to tickle usually just whatever is most ticklish, gets the most reaction or is the lees favorite
