ok i like rushed through the whole orv webtoon way too fast so now i have thoughts going in like 5 different directions but ep121-123 drive me so fucking insane actually. every time i think about those two conversations i have to sit down
#orv#orv liveblog#like i feel like depictions of childhood abuse in fiction tend to depiction the relationship as some version of#'the one evil violent parent and the one good parent trying their best (it wasnt good enough)'#see: the twins parents from lc s2 is the obvious one but also like#going back to my roots lol but enji and rei todoroki? or hell even fire lord ozai and ursa#yknow theres this idea of like theres the one who was trying! and the one who fucked it all up#well yeah rei's the one who scarred her sons face but thats so obviously framed as like a trauma response outside of her control#like its not something youre reeaally meant to blame her for yknow#the WHOLE idea with kim dokja's conversation with yoo sangah is whether he's supposed to blame/forgive lee sookyung#wait ok those conversations drive me so insane like im feeling the alevel literature urge to fuckin close read quotes#that one line where he thinks like this is the vilest form of violence he can use against sangah goes by SO fast but it hit me SO hard#the idea of asking her to put herself in this nightmare situation she has no frame of reference for understanding or empathising with#and then asking her as someone who she rly cares about! to be the judge in this situation she cannot possibly fully grasp#and all of that being framed as an act of violence towards her. like asking her to do this knowing she cant possibly do it#but also 'did you want me to seem pleased to see you' 'a little (lie)' and 'do you think of me as a mother' 'a little (lie)'#like the pretense of a normal relationship over the yeah we know our relationships fucked over the#unfortunately we still talk and think in the same way and we understand each other way too well#ok wait but circling back to the original point. i saw this fucking incredible fanart on twitter that sort of goes into the like#how do you?? handle?? not knowing if youre supposed to blame your parent for something that they did that hurt you#like its this little animation thing thats all in kdj's internal monologue except for one line where its him saying#'im terrible. i deserved what she did to me'#and its like. yeah that would be easier huh. like the self loathing is easier to handle than the confusion and cognitive dissonance#full disclosure i saw that fanart literally a year ago before i knew jack shit about orv and the sentiment hit me SO HARD i just#havent been able to stop thinking about it for a whole year. like as soon as i finished 123 i immediately went to look for it in my archive#i checked the artist has a tumblr but that art is not on it and it bugs me so much i want them to know that they somehow like#managed to make art so painful it defeated both my non-orv reading self and my lifelong severe memory problems#i mean in comparison that line (that also went by alarmingly fast) about how without twsa back then like kdj would not be here today#like not so much to dig into just. Yikes#and him telling ysa all of this with that fucking smile on his face like thats the part that really gets to me just his *fucking expression

Lee Jihye watched me and grabbed the Cut Medicine like she was frustrated. "Give it to me. You can't apply it to your back." Lee Jihye placed the Cut Medicine on my wounds. "Be gentle. I might die if you press hard against it." "Don't be a crybaby. By the way, were you this small?" "My muscle mass was just reduced a bit." "Your shoulders look similar to mine?" My pride was hurt so I took back the Cut Medicine. No, I tried to take it back but failed. It was because Lee Jihye was more powerful than me.
He's so tiny and weak without his stats. 😭
Jihye even has to set up his tent for him. 😭😭
He's ABSOLUTELY FUCKED if he runs into an angry Joonghyuk.

also I wasn't approaching Disco Elysium under the frame of being interested in it bc of it's alleged queer undertones, which has I think made discovering those undertones a lot more fun because it's like oh, yeah, this is a thing in this game, Tumblr wasn't lying! I really loved getting to subtly kind of flirt with Kim through talking about cars today

Twig Liveblog for Arc 13
aaaaaa ‼️‼️‼️ idk if i've metabolized my thoughts enough to be fully coherent about them but i feel like i'll burn alive if i don't get them out, so:
it's like, after 3.1-10: "oh this is fun! a little cat and mouse game with the lambs." then after 3.11: "i am ready to commit grievous acts of violence." the earlier chapters are nonetheless worth discussing as without them there could not be such a "devastating" fifth-act catastrophe. particularly the communication experiments fascinated me. what a perfect metaphor! what if a radio could feel fear? what if a a radio could feel love? might we not also ask--what if a weapon could feel horny?
of course the lillian perspective deserves special attention as well. even before she says so explicitly, we understand that she is "ruined." there is her drug use, her physiological response to even the smallest mention of sy. this is perhaps the anatomical effect of being so close as the lambs, who are essentially a single organism: losing one, especially the one to whom you were closest, is like cutting off a limb. poor girl! like the rest of them she's wrapped up in shit too vast to possibly understand much less overcome.
helen is also going through it :( maybe she'll be the next one to join sy... mary's perspective is also quite rough--this is when i realized that this sy guy is on a level of psychosis i hadn't really considered before lmao.
and then at last there's That Scene with lillian, which reads at first like some kind of fanfiction--some kind of fanfiction lillian herself might have written--complete with typically teenaged overdetail, melodramatic descriptions of flushes, body heat, etc., till finally there's a sort of "surrealist coup," we realize we are too deep in sy's subjectivity to understand the reality of the situation, there's a break, we are lost.
it's all just so (say the line, henghost!) freudian... one of freud's most correct insights is that eros permeates all aspects of life, and therefore that to deny, suppress, or compartmentalize it cannot achieve anything but to make it sick, make the host neurotic. for example, instead of simply fucking your best friend who's clearly into you, you might design an obscenely elaborate rube goldberg type contraption throughout a monument to your darkest trauma (that psychotic fucking carnival orphanage lmao) in order to "win" your ex back. it is wrong, therefore, though understandable, to say that sy has "castrated himself"--it would be more accurate to say that wyvern has his dick twisted up in knots while he's still trying to get hard, poor guy. (by the way, i really have to write something about how wyvern is an allegory for ssri's lol.)
i won't even broach the moral ambiguity, though i'm sure there's something interesting to be said about it--for me, it's like asking about the morality of a withered tree or oedipus rex. and it really is that sophoclean: it was doomed to happened; it was fate. it is written into jamie's dna. sy is a gun who wants, and a gun cannot help but fire. libido is the engine pushing us down a railway designed at best by deus sive natura or at worst by the Academy. i feel fucking sick to my stomach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! nonetheless, i found it life-affirming. it's pessimistic, yes, but it's a pessimism of strength.
anyway, i've gotta give kudos to the author. for all the (deserved) shit i've given him, the wildbow of twig is clearly a far more mature writer than the wildbow of worm.
i must also--since this the last recorded arc for the audiobook!!--shoutout kim dauber, who provided professional-level audibook-reading for free!!! it's possible my reading will slow down without it :(

Kind of Like Liveblogging: Pit Babe
Tumblr media
* Thank you for listening to me, Pit Babe, and giving at least a hint of Charlie and Babe conspiring. I still have no idea what their plot is, but I feel more confident we'll find out in a timely manner (and what little they say could arguably fit my revenge-on-Tony theory).
* Pete & Way!! I'm so excited.
* yes. This interaction was so good. So sexy. I love all of Way's smiles, including his melancholy ones. I love how they hardly even look at each other. I feel like good scenes of hitting on someone in bars are rare in BL. I like how grown up this one feels. (Subtitles were slightly confusing though, was Pete trying to imply that he was or that he wasn't hitting on Way?) I can't wait to see where these two go.
* Oh there's more of them!
* Oh, I am all in on PeteWay. That's it, cancel everything else, I just want to follow their story. I was excited about this pairing, but I didn't expect it to be this good. The way Pete just looks at him. They way he leaned his head on the sofa as Way clutched at his hand. The note! "If you need a drinking buddy..." This is melancholy and grownup in a way that is catnip for me. And the actors are adult enough to handle it.
* Kim! *happy little wiggle dance* So far this episode is tailer-made for me. He's so effortlessly powerful. Winner keeps getting brattier and brattier, hoping each time he can finally push Kim into holding him down and fucking him into submission.
* Plot tidbits revealed. I guess Tony is trying to kidnap or otherwise possess Babe so he can sell him to someone? I'm assuming for his special alpha senses? And it looks like he just fired Kim, although the subtitles were confusing.
* Someone in the tags mentioned a possible KimKenta pairing and god I hope we get it. When Tony mentioned punishing Kenta I had a beautiful vision of him whipping Kenta in front of Ken, setting off their omegaverse darkfic journey to love and healing through BDSM.
* Omg, it's the second coming of Kimlock Holmes! Bless.
* This show is starting to give me answers. It's like they read my wishlist. So Charlie is another of Tony's kids (as I guessed), Tony raises them to sell (not surprising), Charlie keeps secrets from Tony about Jeff (good, and could fit my theory). And that's all we learn cause Babe is too busy yelling and Charlie too busy gaping like a fish. Babe's reaction makes sense for the character, but since I already knew I want to move on and get some more information about the why of it all.
* But also Babe you are kinda dumb and have to get better at subterfuge. And uh oh, Tony sees them.
* And now a toothpaste commercial :-/ The product placement is often jarring. At least it's mainly a chance to stare at Way.
* Oh Babe, I'm so sorry. I think I find him the least interesting character, just because he's the most transparent and obvious about who he is and what he wants, but I sympathize with his heartbreak. You finally fell in love and it turns out (it seems like) it was all fake.
* Way used his special persuasive powers again, looking heartbroken and ambivalent about it all. It seems like he can't tolerate the man he loves hurting, and will resort to mind control to "fix" the feeling bad, instead of just holding his pain with him. Nut is really conveying that he believes he's helping Babe by manipulating his mind.
* When Babe grabbed Way's hand I was really expecting a rebound hookup that would simultaneously make Way's wildest dreams come true and ruin his life. And Babe's life too. At least for a few episodes. (But also it would be extremely hot.)
* I'm glad that now Charlie's secret is out we'll get to see more of his real self, whoever that is. Less creepy smiling for now (of which I approve).
* I'm not sure what I think of the use of the these distorting wide angle lenses. Part of it is I can't always tell if they're an artistic choice or just a practical solution to filming in close spaces. But they're also using lots of hand held camerawork and Dutch angles to create moods, so maybe it's intentional.
* The parallels to Pete and Way in the same exact positions on this sofa, with Way now in Pete's spot, looking at the beautiful, heartbroken boy!
* And now Charlie reveals what his plot had been! Apparently he found out that this unknown Alpha was in danger and decided to insinuate himself into his life in order to be a sort of bodyguard, and then genuinely falling in love with him. Which is fine, that's good, it fits all of Charlie's actions we've seen before, and makes their love story as easy as possible. It's minimum levels of betrayal. But it's kinda boring, no? It turns Charlie into a player in Babe's life, without his own goals. I would have preferred my theory of Charlie using Babe to somehow get revenge on Tony. It would make Charlie and his love much richer and more complicated.
* Unless of course Charlie is lying again about his intentions but I really don't think so. It's not that sort of show (I'm pretty sure), and I don't think think their relationship could survive that.
* Along with that reveal we also get more Tony's Alpha Farm lore. A breeding program! Details about enigmas that get confused by the subtitles. (I'm still unclear whether Babe or the enigma would be the one getting mpregnant. And since this is the mpreg racing car BL, that is the most crucial detail of all.) Alphas whose powers never develop, left abandoned in solitary confinement. And we finally learn Charlie's special skill, or rather that he doesn't have one. (Although I would not be at all surprised to find he develops a power just in time to save Babe from Tony in the big climactic showdown.)
* Who is the enigma Tony wants to breed with Babe? Is it someone we know (Winner perhaps? or Jeff? Jeff would make the most sense, for the emotionality and drama) or someone irrelevant offstage. I've decided my money is on Jeff.
* I'm not entirely clear why Tony didn't just kidnap Babe already. His airbnb mansion seems to have minimal security. I'm also unclear on what Charlie thought his presence was doing in terms of protection but either the answers will be revealed in time (I'm not holding my breath) or it's because It Makes the Plot Go (I'll accept it).
* Hmm, and Kenta is (almost definitely) lying to Tony about Charlie. That's good, I like Kenta (and still dream of KimKenta).
* So what's Way's deal? Is he also a runaway from Tony, or did he develop his powers on his own? I don't remember hearing anything either way. (I just had a horrible thought—what if he's Tony's mole and manipulating Babe because of that. But it doesn't fit the evidence so far so I'm hopeful this thought is wrong.)
* Ooohhhhhh. Charlie does have a secret special power after all, and it's Absorption, and he absorbed Babe's heightened senses through all that touching they did. (I appreciate the sex scene montage to remind us about all the touching they did.) AND the only way to transfer the power back is for Charlie to die! "I'm willing to die for you if you want, Babe," he claims! This is a complicated enough twist to satisfy me. Did Charlie do it on purpose? Did he know it was happening? He definitely never tried to stop touching Babe. Does he feel guilty? He doesn't look like he feels guilty. Is he really telling the complete truth? Is he evil after all, even if he's not working for Tony? Maybe he really is the Talented Mr. Ripley. I am Intrigued.
* I was worried when Charlie first arrived and was pleading for Babe's forgiveness, that his old submissive persona wasn't just a persona but who he actually was. Boring. But I should know by now to trust the show more about these sort of things. As soon as Babe accepted him, and settled enough to listen. Dominant Charlie came out, and submissive Babe fell right into line, without even realizing it. The casual authority in the way he told Babe to give him the whiskey glass, and Babe's instant compliance. Delicious. This is so obviously what their dynamic naturally is, and I'm glad the show isn't pretending otherwise.
* And the man who has staked his whole identity on being champion has lost the special powers that got him there. He says he doesn't need them, he can do without, but can he? Some beautiful angst is coming my way.
* The way Charlie slides his arms around Babe's waist is so... just slightly disturbing and I love it. I guess now that he's won he's rewarding(?) Babe by pretending to be all cute and submissive again, but you can't fool me, Charlie Dom.
* I do believe that Charlie genuinely loves Babe. Just that there are a lot of other things going on.
* Oh 😢 I got distracted and forgot about way, and now he's showing up to his dinner with Babe with red roses looking so hopeful. Oh sweetheart.
* Babe riding Charlie in his tiny convertible -> hot.
* But he forgot all about Way, who sat at that table with his roses for hours. The heartbreak on his face at Babe's text. You know what you need, Way? A drinking buddy.
* Of course Alan is the first one to say, we need to bring this evil man to justice and save all the kidnapped children. I love you Alan, you beautiful, kind hearted leader.
* Mostly the bad subtitles are annoying but inconsequential, but WHAT IS BABE SAYING ABOUT KIM?! Does he thing Kim is a danger to him and his crew, or does he think Kim is in danger from Tony? Because it makes a difference. I had assumed Babe realized Kim was on their side, but the translation is off and sometimes Babe's an idiot.
* Dumb and dumber are so oblivious. Who in their garage thinks Tony's a kindhearted guy? I thought they all hated him already. That was weird. (When are these two going to finally hook up? My bet is in the last half of the final episode, right before the coda with the main couples.)
* And as we all knew, it was Kim in danger from Tony. I had seen this screenshot in a post tagged Kim and Kenta, but I didn't look closely, and in my previous imaginings I was picturing Kenta as the one on his knees. But a captured Kim makes more sense plot wise. Kenta holds a knife to a kneeling Kim's throat, which is our second breadcrumb of the day, but this one has some weight to it. (And is delicious, though obviously in their actual dynamic Kim will be the dom. But this is a good starting point :-))
* And it ends! Noooo. I want to know what's next. Way needs to find his beautiful drinking buddy again!
* I'm not going to watch the previews because I like seeing each moment unfold as the happen. Although I'll probably end up spoiled by tumblr anyway. But I'm doing my best to minimize it.
* I like how this show devotes several scenes at a time to each relationship or event, rather than cutting back and forth between characters.
* Well that's it. I've officially fallen for this show. Especially now that all sorts of interesting things are getting revealed and complicated. I am actually a reader of omegaverse fanfic, because I love how the good ones explore gender roles and power dynamics in fascinating ways. And I think this show is doing at least a little of that.
* Oh no, we haven't seen Jeff since the opening scene! I'm worried about him. I think it's only been two and a half days in universe, but I feel like every other episode we got more of Jeff which is making me suspicious that something happened to him. He gave his ambiguous warning and then disappeared. Stay safe, Alan's nu.

There's an idea that's been cooking in the back of my mind, ever since my fifth Disco Elysium playthrough. How hard can this game be cracked open, with full knowledge? I've been thinking of starting a run with 1-1-1-1 starting stats. I think this is an interesting run idea by itself, seeing how Harry gets by while actually retaining basically nothing from his past life. But I'm not going to be running a fail run for the purposes of failing everything. The question is, hard can I abuse the game systems to succeed at everything I can, despite starting with no stats? And for this task, I call upon the Disco Elysium main tag, to bestow upon me challenges, and gameplay tips.
My priorities are: 1. I am getting Kim to wear the Jacket. 2: The tribunal will go as well as possible. 3: I want that wall painted. 4. I'm going to speak to the city. I haven't even gotten all of these things at once on a normal run, but I know it's possible even without any starting stats. With the right thoughts, the right clothing for each situation, the proper routing, omniscience granted by Fayde, and copious amounts of drugs, I believe it can be done. Do you guys want updates, or even a liveblog?

I’m not going to give any exact dates (because even I don’t know exactly when I’ll start them), but I can say that new liveblogs for probably the near future are going to be She-Ra and the Princesses of Power; DuckTales 2017; Star vs the Forces of Evil; Gravity Falls; X-Men: Evolution; Danny Phantom; Kim Possible; Amphibia; Owl House; both series of Fullmetal Alchemist; the first four seasons of Digimon; Ouran High School Host Club; and Princess Tutu.
If anyone has any preference for any to come first, I will take requests but do remember that I likely won’t finish the show you want before starting a new one. It’s all based on my interests.

Hi! You've been watching a lot of really interesting shows and i was wondering if you could recommend them? Like, they all look good and i know you live blogged a bunch but some of them i think i did not fully understand the premise of or I have a somewhat skewed impression based on the gifs and your own comments/tags. And I don't have time to watch all of them (your speed is kinda terrifying ngl) but I might have time to watch 1 or 2 soon and I don't know how to choose, so I was hoping to maybe get your opinion on which ones are absolute must-watches and which ones can maybe wait a while.
So keeping in mind that this question is very subjective depending on your tastes and what you’re in the mood for, here are my thoughts. I’m not including The Untamed in this list because I’m sort of assuming that if you follow me, you’ve watched it, LOL.
The really long tl;dr – if you want a drama/intrigue, watch The Devil Judge. If you want a mystery, watch Beyond Evil. If you want a rom-com, watch Bad Buddy. If you want a heist, watch Player. If you want a period drama, watch Nirvana in Fire. If you want to know why I’m writing a bunch of fanfiction, watch Not Me.
Now, the long post. Shows marked with an asterisk are canonically gay if that’s what you’re looking for. Most of the K-dramas and C-dramas are available on viki.com. Most of the Thai dramas are on YouTube. If you want a place to watch something specific, let me know. :)
The best shows I have watched and liveblogged in the past year or so are:
The Devil Judge – K-drama, 16 episodes. Dystopian nightmare future/legal drama/political intrigue. Super tightly plotted. Amazing characters. If you like mastermind characters, you will love Kang Yo-Han. If you like really good people who are doing their best to stay good despite terrible circumstances, you will love Kim Ga-On. If you are me, you will love them both. Very satisfying finish. Cannot recommend enough.
Nirvana in Fire – C-drama, 54 episodes. Imperial China, political intrigue, family drama. Also very tightly plotted, also amazing characters, and way, way more of them. There are so many characters in NiF that I just absolutely adored. The ending was, I found, very satisfying, although it is a bit of a sad ending.
Beyond Evil – K-drama, 16 episodes, mystery/drama. So many twists and turns. So many ‘what the fuck is happenings’. The characters have so many sides to them. This show is absolutely buck-fucking-wild and I pretty much never knew what was going to happen next, the who-dun-it twist made me literally scream at my computer.
Player – K-drama, 14 episodes, action/comedy. I’m cheating here because I didn’t liveblog it, but I have to recommend it because it’s amazing. It’s a lot like Leverage, if you know that show. Smart criminal good guys. Corrupt politician bad guys. So much satisfying comeuppance. So many great characters, and really quite funny a lot of the time.
Other shows I have watched and highly recommend but wouldn’t put on the same level:
*Not Me – Thai drama, 14 episodes. Action, mystery, family drama, political activism. Boy’s twin is in coma. Boy goes undercover as own twin, falls in love with other boy. Not anywhere near as tight a plot, the timeline is a bit of a mess, there are a few lingering questions but they’re not a huge deal. But plot aside, the characters are great, I absolutely love everyone in this bar. The kind of show I will probably write a lot of fanfiction for.
*Kinnporsche – Thai drama, 16 episodes. Gay Mafia drama/action/mystery. I loved it more than was possibly reasonable. Great characters. However by nature of the trope, there are a lot of trust issues, and the relationships aren’t always healthy although they’re doing better by the end. I enjoyed it, but wouldn’t necessarily give it a blanket recommendation to everyone I know like I would with the above shows.
*Bad Buddy – Thai drama, 12 episodes (…I think? I’d have to go back and check, it might be 14). College-aged gay rom-com. A lot of fun! A romp, in fact. Good characters. Very healthy relationship, great communication, surprisingly deep message, wonderful ending. Would recommend to anyone who likes rom-coms.
*2Gether – Thai drama, 12-ish episodes, I forget, sorry. Another college-aged gay rom-com. Very cute. Not as good as Bad Buddy in my opinion. More miscommunication and people making stupid decisions for no real reason. However, still cute, and worth watching if you don’t mind that sort of thing.
*A Tale of 1000 Stars – Thai drama, 10 episodes. Rom-com/drama. More drama than the other two rom-com recommendations, a little dash of mystery.
The King’s Avatar – C-drama, 40 episodes. Your basic sports show, but about video games. Lots of lovable characters, a great deal of fun. Can be a little repetitive but I didn’t care because I loved the characters so much.
Sweet Home – K-drama, 10 … maybe 12 episodes? A monster show. Really it’s a zombie apocalypse show but with monsters that are weirder than zombies. Interesting characters, good premise. On the gory side. Lots of character death. I enjoyed it but wouldn’t watch it a second time. However, if that sort of show is your bag, it’s well put together.
The Imperial Coroner – C-drama, 36ish episodes. Mystery/political intrigue/romance, in Imperial China. The plot is okay, the villains are kind of annoying, but the very likable and fun main cast make up for it in my opinion.
*Word of Honor – C-drama, 36 episodes. Wuxia with a splash of xianxia/romance/drama. Everyone’s a villain. The characters are fun. The plot was absolute nonsense most of the time. Gets better in the second half. Bullshit ending if you don’t watch the extra, which makes it a slightly less bullshit ending. My advice is to stop at episode 34. (This is as canonically gay as a Chinese show can get so I gave it the asterisk.)

What are the top 3 moments from the show that left you speechless ?
(Pd/Upstead you choose)
1. Kim Gets Shot | 8x16: I still haven’t forgiven the writers for the trauma this caused. It was so sick of them to show this scene and then immediately go into a commercial break. My heart stopped immediately after this line, and then I stared at my screen in horror & shock for a hot minute thinking they really killed Kim off. Eventually I just whispered “what the fck” to myself and proceeded with my liveblog. Speechless is an understatement for this one.
Tumblr media
2. Jay Gets Shot | 7x10: the pure joy I felt when Hailey finally got to him. I was so happy and relieved, then he went down the stairs and my mouth DROPPED when the shot rang out. I still get whiplash watching that ending, and I’ll never be over how haunting that last shot of Jay is.
Tumblr media
3. 9x14 Ending | 9x14: the possibility of Makayla being kidnapped was already in my head with the 9x15 synopsis, but I convinced myself it wouldn’t be her because I didn’t want to manifest more trauma for that poor girl. I clowned myself into trusting the writers with the celebratory “we won” scene, so when they got back to the apartment I wasn’t expecting what came next. I swear my heart plummeted into my stomach when they showed the babysitter on the ground because I thought it was Mak at first. I get anxious just thinking about how I felt watching that live.

Guess who's still liveblogging Disco Elysium? (Spoilers)
Played through Day 4/Thursday today.
Feel like I got some things done. I got my gun back from The Pigs, I'm now fully in both Evrart and Joyce's confidences (well, I think... more on that in a sec), AND I reported Victor Mejean's death to his wife.
Actually, I'm a bit miffed about that. I made the mistake of talking to her before poking around and, although the conversation went really well, now I can't get back in there to investigate. Harrumph.
I was trying to use Rhetoric to open the shipping container near Evrart's office. He alluded to there being something interesting in there and there's a reason I'm able to keep messing with it. Kim asked me why I'm talking to it and one of the options was "Because using my body wasn't an option!" which it literally wasn't. I dunno, I feel on the hunt for little wall-breaks like that now, after the reflections in the previous post.
Cuno's whole scene re: the locusts... something is going on with that kid, with the whole "I made myself Cuno, I can make myself something else" bit. But I can't yet pass the check to find out what. At first it seemed like Cunoesse was just kind of following him, but after her little display... I'm not sure what her deal is either.
Joyce had a LOT of fucking interesting things to say. It was almost kind of too much to digest. But the two bits that have my ears perked are 1) Revachol being a place where all the ideologies converge to "resolve" history, and 2) the entire concept of "the pale." Both of those things reinforce the possibility that this is some kind of... what? Game? (Which it literally is, so there's that.) Computer simulation? Something like that. I'm not POSITIVE that's what's going on, but I feel strongly (at least for now) that something like that is an element of it. But she also said some people think of it as the concentrated past or something, and I’m not sure what to make of that part. It’s something working in layers.
Anyway, there's something about Joyce. She seems really cooperative and forthcoming, but I can't shake the feeling there's something she's not telling me.
I think it was when I was talking to her that I passed an Espirit du Corps check, where some people were talking about Harry and how he lost his mind. What is the Valley of the Dogs? What did they mean "we always do?"
I dunno, I have more information now, but I don't feel like I've significantly advanced any of the three major mysteries (reality, Harry, the murder). It's clear the game still has some stuff in store, though. I like the check in the window behind Travis that currently has a debuff: "-12: it's not time yet." Like, ooh, what's that gonna be?
Also, Joyce was giving me a history/economics lesson and said something like "the years '08 to '19 were hell" and like... yeah, okay. Those weren't chosen randomly, were they?
I feel like I'm sort of out of clear leads at this point. I wanna advance Soona's project, but I cannot figure out how to get through to Egghead. I have tried every branching dialogue option I could. He says "we're close" but it doesn't feel like it. But I guess we'll see what new developments the new day brings.
Also, what's with the two "cops" that just showed up in the Whirling? Like, that's (the latest in a weird series of incidences which seem to establish) a similarity between Harry and the dead colonel--two companions, a man and a woman. I know at least the male mercenary is someone else--the scab guy, I talked to him (that was fun), but I don't know who exactly they are and it feels like there's some intentional parallelism there.
Oh, and what role does Cindy have to play in this yet? Pissf****t and Fuck the World appeared, so that leads me to believe the Skulls are going to factor into this somehow in the coming days. I guess we'll see.
Onward and forward, I suppose.

Can we talk about novel! vs show!Porchay?
Please take this with a grain of salt because we haven’t actually reached the parts of the plot I’m going to talk about so there is still room for it to happen in the show, however unlikely it’s looking so far.
NOVEL SPOILERS AHEAD (obviously)
So far, show!Chay has been a little ray of sunshine while also making it clear whose brother he is, which novel!Chay did a little differently. In the original novel, Porchay was a little spicier when it came to his language, which can be very clearly seen in two parts of the novel.
“Do you think this will scare me? You're just being insecure. Because whatever you do, my brother will always be ahead of you. He's even better than you because P’Kinn won't follow him around like that if he's not!”
So the first is when he’s kidnapped by Tawan and takes it as an opportunity to mock his brother-in-law’s ex and hit him where it really hurts. The novel even mentions him having fun annoying him. He also calls Tawan a preschooler.
"Kim, you fucking bastard! Just try getting on with someone else, I'll pray to the Gods to make your dick shrink and rot!"
The second time is during the gathering of mafia wives (Tae’s words, not mine), which he tags along on because he’s absolutely convinced Kim is cheating on him (as far as we know, he was not). And he yells that out the car window as they drive away.
So, in conclusion, I really would love to see Baby Chay show his fangs a little bit. He’s been very precious so far, and I appreciate that, I really do, especially in a mafia show where he is the one shining beacon of purity and Wattpad-like joy amidst the darkness of moral ambiguity, but at the same time, it could be interesting to see him just SNAP at some point. He is Porsche’s little brother after all, and I would love to see him make at least a snarky comment.

Guys. I just realized something. What if we get to see Bible’s thigh tattoos in the VegasPete NC scene? What then?

My #1 post of 2022
Timelining KP
The time has come. I’ve spent the last few days organizing my notes as much as possible, so here it is. And it is a monster of a post, I swear I didn’t realize how long this was going to end up being.
HUGE NOVEL SPOILERS AHEAD
So the short version is this:
Ep 10 - VP starts, Chay gets kidnapped, further discussion of the mole, videos, Tawan is dealt with (30 - 33)
Ep 11 - VP episode, “fuck where’s Pete”/dead body, Porsche’s birthday (34 - 36)
Ep 12 - funeral/Return of the Pete, post-VP (36 - 40)
Ep 13 - parental issues, conversation re: Vegas  (42 - 44)
Ep 14 - boss battle, party (44 - end)
And now things get more specific, which is what was taking me so long.
Episode 10 (next episode)
Transition between the end of the Tawan arc and the beginning of the VegasPete/Everything-Is-An-Absolute-Trainwreck arc
VegasPete starts (obviously)
KinnPorsche will probably break up, but get back together by the end of the episode, potentially with the pool scene (although I know I’m setting myself up to be clowned with this one)
KimChay reveal
Kidnapping plotline
Porsche tries to move out/Big pushes Chay dumpster fire extravaganza
Basically everything up to the end of chapter 33 of the main novel (Tawan arc over, KimChay are a mess)
Further discussion of the mole (Kim knows Porsche isn’t the mole, everyone else probably realizes he isn’t the mole, so who is?)
Again, potentially Chay getting kidnapped (kinda hoping that’s what they go with since it was a really nice transition in the novel, not just for Chay himself, but it was the push KinnPorsche needed to talk out some of their issues and get back together, particularly for Porsche to be willing to hear Kinn out after the shit he pulled)
Maybe the whole thing with the sex tapes toward the end, or episode 11, or not at all, who knows
Oh and this would be the VegasPete episode that will probably feel the most uncomfortable because it’s really the beginnings of their relationship and even toned down it’ll be quite the experience
Not just for us but for Pete as well
We will probably see Vegas become more attracted to Pete beyond just being intrigued and amused
Episode 11
I’m thinking primarily VegasPete, like (hopefully) almost entirely VegasPete
Probably cut in with some main family drama
Chay moving in with the main family?
KimChay kinda going to shit
Obviously some Tankhun commentary would be amazing

DE is often humorous and it does so well, but when it wants to be more serious it can also hit quite hard. The Cuno empathy check caught me completely of guard, and i find the way that the dead body is handled—meticulously describing the details of a decomposing corpse while still retaining a sort of “clinical” distance—quite impressive; it really transfers the physicality of the death.
Also i managed to open the compartment in Harry's clipboard and it almost made me tear up :')
