My youngest niece and nephews agreed to be the first official reviewers for my picture book, and they said they liked it! I was particularly overwhelmed by the fact that the youngest nephew MEMORIZED the whole book because of how much he enjoyed people reading it to him ToT. I think that's the highest compliment that I've ever gotten for my work. Emi Isn't Scared of Monsters is coming out on August 2nd, 2022 and you can still preorder it now!! Go to whatsupbeanie.com/links or look it up in your local bookstores :). It's a silly story about Emi, a little girl conquering her fear of the dark to find her puppy. Book birthday so soon!!!
(A silly revisited comic based on the silly thoughts i used to have when I was little. This was originally made in 2017 for my first zine, with another comic and storytelling,,, and I made like ten copies lol so barely anyone saw it)
Hi everyone! I’ve made a ten page mini comic about a Victorian era fossil hunter and the idea of home. You can also grab it as a free PDF download on my Ko-Fi page.
Over the past few years I’ve done loads of comics work, but I haven’t been able to share it as it was for book pitches/under NDA. I felt like my portfolio wasn’t showing my best work anymore and I was getting a bit self-conscious about it.
After learning about a certain ammonite fact (that you’ll see in the story) I was inspired to make this mini comic that weaves in my love of history, cool fossils and stories about plucky kids! I've also lived in four different counties and about 13 different houses, so I find the idea of what is home really interesting. I carry each of those places with me!

I have big news to share!! I'm working on an original graphic novel at Andrews McMeel! I'm thrilled to be working with editors Erinn Pascal and Cindy Harris to bring this story to life. Thank you so much to everyone for believing in my work, and especially to my wonderful agent, Jason Yarn!
I'm so excited for everyone to meet Pacheco and Doris! 🐟🦜 PACHECO AND THE MAGIC MOUNTAIN comes out 2025.
This is a promotional piece for the original graphic novel I've been working on behind the scenes! It's a middle-grade GN, and you'll definitely like it in the end!
Are you a fan of comics and interested in learning about the process of creating a graphic novel? Or perhaps you are considering making your own comic book? This month, I am sharing my experience of creating my award-winning debut graphic novel, Marshmallow and Jordan. Let's brainstorm ideas together and get started on the creative fun! 😄
Happy #portfolioday to all those creatives out there!
I’m Jennifer Chan, an nonbinary illustrator/cartoonist from New Jersey. I’m available and currently seeking work in kidlit/children’s and middle-grade media industry such as picture book, cover, and vis dev.
For many years I’ve contributed colorful comics and illustrations to various anthologies that range from themes of light hearted autobiographical to cozy fantasy. My recent work includes a marketing illustration for an indie video game that explores themes of Asian diaspora.
