A Kessurian Mandalorian helmet I was commissioned for. This was a totally clean canvas, as before I’d never even heard of the Kessurians, though they’re definitely one of the most visually striking aliens out there.

The ‘wings’ on Ursa Wren’s helmet slide over the Kessurian’s montrals, and the elongated round earcaps allow for the race’s long ears.

This was a lot of fun to work on, and I’ll revisit it in the future for sure.

WIP Wednesday

Obikin~because we need more Padawan Obi-Wan wanting to top Master Anakin. Obi-Wan seems to be in a bad mood, and Anakin has no idea why.

Not that he considered Obi-Wan a problem. He didn’t. He just thought that his former master might have oversold his Padawan when handing him off to Anakin to finish his training so that Qui-Gon could go on a five-year mission deep in the Outer Rim. Somber and responsible, Qui-Gon had vowed.

Bantha podoo, Anakin thought.

“Well,” he tried again, and then he shot an arm out when they turned a corner, grabbing Obi-Wan’s shoulder, saving him from a collision with another Padawan that Anakin vaguely recognized. The Force settled around him, satisfied that he’d been quick to heed the warning.

“I’m so sorry!” gasped the Kessurian male, jerking to an abrupt stop. In his hands was a holopad that he’d been distractedly reading while he walked.

“You’re alright,” answered Anakin easily. Beneath his palm, Obi-Wan tensed.

The bond between them thrummed like a plucked string.

“T-thank you, Master Skywalker.” The Kessurian stared at him, wide-eyed, and Anakin wearily recognized a fan after fifteen years of being glorified as the face of the GAR.

“Um, Master Skywalker? Would it be possible to have an Ataru demonstration? Master Jabi claims you’re the best she’s ever se—”

“No, he can’t,” Obi-Wan cut off the other Padawan curtly. “Master, we’re late,” he then announced, and effectively shouldered the Kessurian out of the way.

Eyebrows nearly reaching his hairline, Anakin waved a hasty, somewhat belated goodbye to the Kessurian, and caught up with his Padawan at the door to their apartment. “What was that about?"

Obi-Wan inhaled like he was counting to ten. Remarkably like Mace Windu, at times… “He didn’t want an Ataru demonstration.”

Star Wars Alien Species - Kessurian

Kessur, home of the Kessurians, is a lush and vibrant world home to vast forests and deep valleys. The planet is dotted with city-states and nations, creating one of the more dynamic worlds in The Mid Rim.

The Kessurian species possessed a monarchy, with the second in line to the throne given the title of thilas.

Wilsa Teshlo was a Kessurian thilas, second in line to the throne, but refused to be trapped in the life of royalty, and fled to join the Veiled Sorority pirate gang.

Kessurians were a humanoid sentient species. They had typically red skin, elongated and pointed ears, and hornlike montrals above their ears. Their hair was typically brown. They also had rounded nubs above their eyes and below their montrals. The skin on their ears, montrals, cheeks and foreheads was mottled with lighter spots than the rest of their skin. Kessurians had four limbs, two arms and two legs, and five-fingered hands. The species had at least two sexes: male and female. Male Kessurians could grow facial hair. Some members of the species possessed Force sensitivity.

Kessurians age at the following stages:

1 - 10 Child

11 - 17 Young Adult

18 - 44 Adult

45 - 69 Middle Age

70 - 84 Old

Examples of Names: Charlu Sisi, Estala Maru, Sylphanie Stil, Vanbec Recliva, Wilsa Teshlo.

Languages: Kessurians speak their own native language of Kessurian, with a simplistic and practical structure. Most learn Basic to converse with offworlders, and Kessurians from higher castes also learn High Galactic.
