And the award for coolest color variant from RSD Drop 2 goes to....Small Faces - Complete Greatest Hits! ( see pic 3) . I have to admit to not knowing much about this band. But while reading Peter Frampton's autobiography, I like to listen to the music he mentions. Steve Marriott was a founding member of Small Faces before creating Humble Pie with Peter, so there is a big chunk of a chapter on how Peter met Steve and his affection for these songs. (I think Ron Wood mentioned them a lot as well.) So when I saw this in the list of RSD2 titles I had to jump! . This a nice slice of mid 60s Mod goodness! Really digging finally finding this band. Side one is the Decca stuff, while side 2 is Immediate Records material. Side one of the album consists of studio recordings, engineered by Geoff Calver; side two features three live performances recorded by the Pye Mobile Unit, engineered by Alan Perkins, on February 3, 1972, at the Lanchester Arts Festival in Coventry, England. At the end of the live section, the recording includes the sounds of festival management trying in vain to get the audience to leave so that the next performers, Pink Floyd, can take the stage; the crowd begins chanting "We want Chuck!" "My Ding-a-Ling", from the live side of the album, was edited to approximately 4 minutes for release as a single. It was Berry's first and only single to reach number 1 in both the US and the UK.
