HEADCANON:
This Jedi who gets killed shielding Grogu?
She was Kelleran Beq's friend. They used to share a mug of caf together every Taungsday and vent about the troublesome younglings in their respective care.
So when he picks up her lightsaber...
... he recognizes it. He looks back at the dead Jedi and realizes it's her. And he can't help but feel a surge of emotion.
That's when the clones arrive.
And instead of giving in to his anger, Kelleran uses the emotion to steel his resolve.
Her sacrifice will be honored.
He won't let this youngling die, no matter what.

Seeing Ahmed Best as a badass Jedi Master on the silver screen rescuing one of Star War's most beloved characters is so fucking incredible and a little bittersweet because he never deserved the vitriol he got from those drooling neckbeards that to this day represent the absolute worst element within the fandom, he shouldn't have to prove anything to anybody, but at least now he gets to participate in this world he is already a part of in a way of his choosing, in a way that celebrates his face and his skill and his resilience.

So I make fun of recent SW projects a lot but I have to say I do like how they've handled Order 66 so far (when it's directly shown) it does a good job highlighting the tragedy of it.
But also I like that it shows the Jedi actually fighting back. In Revenge of the Sith, it looked they were all slaughtered while barely putting up a fight which... Doesn't track for them. The ones that got ambushed by their own armies in the middle of the battlefield makes sense, but I've always felt like the attack the Jedi Temple shouldn't have gone anywhere near that smoothly.
I think it'd have succeeded ultimately through sheer numbers, but there'd be a lot of dead clones for every Jedi they got. And I think the recent shows have actually done that well.
In Kenobi, it showed a Jedi Knight fighting and protecting a whole pod of younglings while trying to evacuate them, succumbing to their numbers only after dispatching a whole squad of clones.
In the Mandalorian, there was Kelleran Beq managed to fight his way out with Grogu. What I like here is that it showed he had friends and contacts of his own who helped him get off-planet. That's one thing the Jedi would've definitely had. Not that they could call an army in, of course.
And (somewhat cheating since it's not a show) in Fallen Order we saw Cal Kestis and Jaro Tapal straight-up escape a hostile ship (more convincingly than Ahsoka IMO) with Jaro straight-up sabotaging the ship so it blew up on the clones to cover their escape.
I don't blame Revenge of the Sith for not showing this in the limited runtime they had. But I'm glad to see the Jedi resistance highlighted now.
