If Prince Freya doesn't get an anime once the manga is completed, I'm suing. I mean,it’s selling well,and we’re getting more fantasy shoujo anime adaptations lately. So maybe there’s a chance. But only after the manga is finished,because I want them to animate the whole thing. I will not settle for less.

Category 1: Japanese only or Japanese with only little English …Hiroshi Mizobuchi - Showa no Gion: b&w photos depicting life in Gion Kobu in the 1970’s and 80’s. Captions are entirely in Japanese, but easy to translate, since they are mostly dates and names. At the end of the book, there are few pictures from the 1930’s and 40’s. …Sumi Asahara - Tokyo Rokkagai: Interviews with Tokyo Geisha, history and map of the main six Tokyo Kagai, old and new photos. Books on the subject of Tokyo Geisha are fairly rare, so this is a good source of information. …Hiroshi Mizobuchi - Hannari Kyo Maiko no Shiki: photos of the seasonal events and celebrations in the Kyoto Hanamachi, with Map and full Ochaya list. …Keiko Tanaka - Nihongami taizen: despite featuring Maiko Fukuno on it’s cover, only a little part of it deals with Maiko Nihongami. The book itself is a pretty large format, so you can have a good look at her outfits. …Kelly Foreman - the Gei of Geisha: densely packed with information on around 250 pages, concerning arts, economy and the social aspects of being a Geisha.  …Sayo Masuda - Autobiography of a Geisha: SM endured a lot of abuse from childhood on, was sold to an Okiya in Kamisuwa Onsen at the age of 12 and worked as a Geisha until she was “bought” by a patron around 1939.

Category 3: originally published in Japanese, available in lots of different languages, but not English. …Kiharu Nakamura - Memoiren einer Geisha: KH worked as Geisha in Shinbashi for around 2 years in the early 1930′s. Only around 20% of the whole book deal with her time before retirement, so the title is a bit misleading. Nevertheless, it’s a nice source of information on pre-war Shinbashi.

Day 7: Favourite Trope
I have so many favourite tropes (especially when it comes to Shojo) that range from “The Grumpy One is Soft for the Sunshine One” to “Pretty Sure This Makes Me a Furry”. But instead here I’m going to give a tribute to all the Women With Weapons! May we one day get to see you all animated properly. (Seriously, Prince Freya might not be my favourite, but it would make for a great action anime when’s that gonna happen?)

He found Masayoshi sitting outside the bedroom, his back to the closed door and nursing a nasty bite on his forearm. “Jeez,” Gotou said, sitting down beside Masayoshi as Masayoshi wrapped his shirt around the wound. “Which one did it?”
“I can’t tell them apart yet,” Masayoshi said lightly, clearly in a bit of pain. “It’s a good thing I’m already a werewolf, I guess, that would be an unwelcome wake-up call, otherwise.”
“Born wolves can’t turn people,” Gotou reminded him, and Masayoshi looked over at Gotou, surprised. “I read it,” he clarified. “In Kaze’s notebook. They’re not cursed, so they don’t have the ability to turn others.”
“Ah.” Masayoshi thunked his head back against the door—if Gotou listened hard he could hear the scrabble of claws across floorboards, and a soft growl from within. “Why won’t they trust me, Hidenori? I just want to help them.”
It had been two very long weeks already, and they’d still never seen the kids in human form. They stayed in the room, out of sight, two half-grown wolves huddled under a bed, growling like they were injured. There was evidence that that they had been human—Gotou clearly heard a toilet flush the other day—but any time either of them approached the pups, they got attacked.
Masayoshi laid his head on Gotou’s shoulder, and Gotou put his arm around Masayoshi. “They’re traumatized, ‘yoshi. Kennichi said that the place they were rescued from was a real shithole.” Plus, they were probably scared that someone would come after them and they’d be taken back, but Gotou wasn’t about to add that to the pile of things Masayoshi was currently stressed over.
“It’s lucky that their captors are already dead,” Masayoshi said in a matter-of-fact tone. “Because if they weren’t I would rip them to pieces myself.”
Gotou’s heart jumped in his throat. He wondered, occasionally, if Masayoshi noticed the way he oh-so-casually talked about killing people sometimes—something he never would have dreamed of doing Before, before Gotou bit him and infected him with this moon-tied curse. “You wouldn’t kill them,” he said softly, fingers rubbing firmly into Masayoshi’s back, and was quietly troubled when Masayoshi didn’t respond.

“Why’d you have to pick the first fucking train of the day to leave on?” Gotou said, travel mug of coffee in his hand as he stood on the platform with Masayoshi. “We could have, dunno, enjoyed our morning more.”
“Talk to Ishihara-san, she was the one who planned to put me on the train just after moon-set.” For it being only a little before five a.m. they were both bright-eyed and bushy-tailed; although Masayoshi’s hair was still damp from their shared clean-up shower, fluffing out slightly in the morning humidity. “You’ll text me every day?”
“Like you even have to ask,” Gotou snorted.
They were the only two people on the platform at this time of the morning—there were quite a few commuters who passed through this station, but they tended to crowd the later trains. It let Gotou feel safer holding Masayoshi’s hand and leaning into him as they waited; the entire village knew that their head police officer was married to a man, of course, but Gotou wasn’t the biggest fan of public displays.
Keiko and Masanori hadn’t come home the previous night—or yet this morning, even—but that wasn’t entirely uncommon. They’d one it before, stashing their school uniforms and turning up to school on time wearing the same clothes as yesterday. They had likely forgotten that Masayoshi was leaving in the morning and that they were going to be stuck with Gotou, the disciplinarian, for an entire week. (And a half.)
“Are you staying in one place for the press tour?” Gotou asked. “I might come to visit you during the weekend. The kids’ll be fine, I’ll leave food in the fridge—”
“And then have me show up for an interview late, with sex hair and hickeys that the makeup artists are going to discuss for a week?” Masayoshi laughed. “Don’t leave them alone, they’ll get up to shit in your absence. Probably burn down the police box, and then where will we all be?”
“They get up to shit with both of us here, what makes my absence the vital piece in this equation?”
Masayoshi said, quietly, “they’re good kids, Hidenori. They just miss their parents.”
“And Koji will find them…or find out what happened to them. These things just take time, especially in a community as small and scattered as ours.” Gotou nodded to a pair of younger men in suits and ties carrying briefcases—salarymen who commuted long hours every day. They acknowledge his presence equally with a nod and moved a respectable amount of distance down the platform, far enough away that they still had their privacy.
The train was coming, they could hear it. Masayoshi leaned firmly into his shoulder for a moment, and Gotou caught his weight, turned him, and kissed him, hand on the back of his neck. “I’ll be taping all your interviews,” he said, and Masayoshi snorted and smiled at him, before he kissed him a second time, a quick peck as the train doors opened.
Then he boarded, and Gotou stood there and watched the train depart, coffee in his hands and feeling cold and empty, despite the heat of the summer morning.
A week and a half.
Gotou went home.

“Headquarters called twice,” Ueno said as Gotou walked through the door of the police box. He glanced up at the wall clock—wasn’t even seven yet, he wasn’t late.
“What’s going on that they’d call this early?” he asked, setting his coffee on his desk and frowning at the small stack of paperwork he’d left himself, because he knew the mood he’d be in would require distraction. “Something major burn down?”
“Apparently, they’ve finally reviewed and approved your outstanding requests for additional staff,” Ueno said, clearly excited at the chance of having a better shift rotation. “Sakaguchi-san said they would be sending two additional officers soon, with more on the way later.”
Gotou exhaled as he sat down. It was one thing to be the head officer of a small village’s police box, and with only two other officers they worked more as partners than a subordinate-superior relationship. The dynamic of everything around the police box was getting ready to change, and he wasn’t certain he was ready for it. “Did headquarters give an exact timeframe? Or just, ‘soon?’”
“Well,” Ueno said, sitting back in his chair. “Pretty sure they meant today. Guess that means I’m on shift until this afternoon, so we can get everyone settled in for a new rotation.”
“You’ve been here for fourteen hours already,” Gotou said, and pointed to the door. “Shoo. Go get some sleep. If we’re getting more sets of hands around here, you’ll have plenty of time to meet them and throw your weight around.”
Ueno sighed dramatically and stood. “Understood, senpai.” He hesitated. “If one’s a hot chick…”
“They don’t usually assign unmarried women to police boxes outside the city,” Gotou said. “And I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that and chalk it up to your current level of sleep deprivation.”
Ueno gave a small, awkward laugh, saluted and vanished toward the changing room in the back. Gotou watched the door close behind him and sighed, before glancing at the clock again. It would be nice to have the box well-staffed—and more officers meant he could take a little more time off to help Masayoshi attempt to keep a leash on their two about-to-be-teenage-terrors.
Things were finally starting to settle into place. Gotou picked up his desk phone and got to work.

Gotou had his cell phone face down on the desk, so he missed the alert when it flashed onto his screen and swiped past it when he did finally glance at his phone. If he’d been paying more attention (and was not distracted by Otsuka-san’s complaints about her new neighbor), he would have seen that it was a notification from the card he was tracking.
The purchase alert came from the next town over—at the train station, where two tickets were purchased.

É um dos poucos ocidentais a estudar com os grandes mestres da Medicina Tradicional Japonesa como: Renpu Fujimoto, Katsumi Ishihara, Koei Kuwahara, Etsuko Inoue, Masanori Taniyoka, Masaki Tsuda, Keiko Ogawa, Oura Jinkan, Atsuki Maeda, Stephen Birch e Antônio Augusto Cunha. Em suas inúmeras viagens para o Japão, teve a oportunidade de se iniciar nas práticas ascéticas do shugendô, nas montanhas sagradas de Dewa Sanzan, recebendo o nome japonês de Chi Shu, aquele que ensina com sabedoria, tornando-se o primeiro yamabushi brasileiro. Fundador e CEO do Instituto Kangendo, maior instituição de terapias japonesas da América do Sul, possui alunos espalhados pelo Brasil, Chile, Colômbia, Peru, França, Portugal, Austrália e Japão. Idealizador da viagem “Espírito do Japão”, que leva o mesmo nome desta obra, que tem como objetivo o intercâmbio cultural e educacional entre Brasil e Japão. O sensei Lima é membro da JTAM´S (The Japan Traditional Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society) e da Shonihari Gakkai (The Japanese Society of Pediatric Acupuncture) e também criador dos métodos de Shiatsu Kangendô e Ventosaterapia Kengendô. Valério acaba de lançar o seu livro de estreia O Espirito do Japão – Uma Jornada pela Acupuntura Japonesa editado pela Ícone Editora. A agenda de lançamento é extensa. No mês de outubro e novembro, Valério participou de feiras e congressos no Japão onde fez o primeiro lançamento oficial. De volta ao Brasil, participou de um workshop no Rio de Janeiro, onde lançou o livro e tem agenda para os próximos dias 16 de dezembro, em Goiânia, no Instituto Kangendo, dia 17 de dezembro, em Brasília e em janeiro de 2024 terá sua agenda confirmada para São Paulo. Nesse livro, Valério retrata de forma apaixonada sua trajetória de neófito na medicina oriental à sensei nas artes japonesas de cura, apresentando todo o percurso trilhado ao longo dos anos de imersão na medicina oriental, especialmente as terapias, nas artes marciais e práticas espirituais legitimamente japonesas. O livro apresenta de forma precisa uma viagem pela seara da acupuntura e da medicina tradicional japonesa, seus conceitos, princípios, filosofia, técnicas e principais estilos praticados no Japão, descrevendo a moderna acupuntura e moxabustão japonesa a partir de aspectos históricos, culturais e espirituais, sob uma perspectiva integral. Apresenta também as singularidades que diferem o estilo japonês de acupuntura dos demais praticados no mundo, demonstrando tanto as bases que fazem da acupuntura japonesa a mais refinada, indolor e não invasiva praticada na atualidade, assim como sua lapidação e evolução ao longo dos 1.000 anos de história. A acupuntura é uma terapia segura e eficaz para uma variedade de condições e no Japão, a acupuntura é uma prática médica reconhecida e regulamentada pelo governo. Segundo uma pesquisa realizada pelo Ministério da Saúde, Trabalho e Bem-Estar do Japão em 2022, 71,6% dos japoneses conhecem a acupuntura e mais de 30% da população já usaram a acupuntura alguma vez na vida. Os principais motivos pelos quais os japoneses procuram a acupuntura são para tratar dor (42,3%), estresse (26,8%) e problemas de sono (21,7%). Valério reforça a importância da disseminação da prática da acupuntura, sua importância no tratamento medicinal e apresenta as técnicas adquiridas ao longo de anos de experiência e práticas da medicina tradicional em seu livro, palestras, cursos e em congressos que participa.
