Mukôjima Geisha Manten (万てん) in April 2018. Manten became a Geisha in 2010 and was one of the first Hangyoku I knew by name.

The Yokohama Geigi website has been updated this April with two new portraits: Yûtsuki 結月 (she has been working with the Yokohama Geigi since autumn last year already) and Hamayû はまゆう (she was among the new faces shown in February). Both are in the "Hamakko" category, which is a unique term in Yokohama for Geigi apprentices like Maiko or Hangyoku. From what I have obseved, they don't have any visual characteristics to set them apart from the fully fledged Geigi.
With this update, it seems that Kanayuki 叶雪 (first seen October 2023) has retired.
There are now seven Geigi and three Hamakko in Yokohama.

New Geigi in Yokohama
In this instagram post from 24. Feb 24, it's mentioned that the amount of Yokohama Geigi is growing. Judging from the group photo, it seems that there are 2-4 new and perhaps one returning Geigi. I'm curious what their names are!

hii! it's me again! i hope it's not too much of a pain again... but could you show on google maps where kanazawa's hanamachi are?
Hello!
Since Kanazawa's Hanamachi don't have the same name as the administrative units they are in, we will have to do with less precise locations.

Maiko Yachiyo with branches of Plum Blossom (1900) “Yachiyo was a famous Geiko (Geisha) from Osaka, considered one of only three Meigi (talented or beautiful geisha) of the Meiji period (1868-1912). She became a Maiko (Apprentice Geisha) with the Tonda geisha house at the age of thirteen. During the Meiji period girls usually became a Geiko (Geisha) around the age of fifteen or sixteen.”(source) A YouTube video of Yachiyo in 1904.

She is likely a Maiko from Osaka (unlikely she's from Kyoto, and Osaka Maiko were popular photo models from the late Meiji era until after the war) and the photo was taken in the time period from early December to mid-March (Yukimochi kimono motif).

Setsubun in Hachioji - possible new Geisha and Hangyoku
Hachioji_Odori_Official shared a picture of the Hachioji Geisha performing for Setsubun on instagram: In the back row, second from left, you can see a new face. I'm curious if she is a new Geisha?
In the front row, second from right, there's a Minarai/Hangyoku. Teruha posted about her in her instagram stories in January, suggesting she might be from Yukinoe Okiya as well.

More natori news from Hachioji
Seika (成華, debuted around 2013) became a natori of the Kasuga (春日) school of Kouta, receiving the name Toyoshibashûyukika or Toyoshibashûyukihana (とよ芝洲ゆき華) from her master and Okiya Okasan Megumi (めぐみ), who is Kasuga Toyoshibashûyuki (とよ芝洲ゆき).
Hachioji Geisha practice the following schools/styles: Fujima (藤間) for dance, Fukuhara (福原) for narimono, and Kasuga (春日) for Kouta.

I follow Teruha from Hachioji on Instagram. What can you tell me about her and the Hachioji kagai? Please include the dance school they train under. Thank you.
Teruha debuted in 2018 as a hangyoku and became a full geisha in 2020. Hachioji itself is actually located just outside of Tokyo, so it's not counted as one of the rokkagai (6 kagai), but it still has a decently large geisha population for such a small area (there's currently 15 active geisha there). They learn the Fujima style of dance, just like Gion Higashi does ^^

hii!! i was wondering if you knew where on google maps these tokyo districts are: mukojima, shinbashi, asakusa, akasaka?? tyssmm 🩷
They should roughly come up if you search for them with their Kanji (like "Akasaka, Tokyo").
I've made some maps on that topic with OSM. If I don't forget about it, I'll add them to this post once back at my own PC in 2-3 days, so you can check if our results add up!
