As an inaugural post I present one of my childhood cats, Bella. We got her from a local shelter.
She was a mackerel black torbie domestic shorthair with a bit of white spotting. and the voice of an angelic squeaky toy.

Outdoor cat owners hate me because I refuse to accept their choice to let their pregnant 6 month old kitten roam the streets.
My new cat came with a collar on, but there was no info and she wasn’t chipped, so she’s mine now fuckers.

Chester has been escorting me not only to the mailbox but to the corner store or whenever I leave the house. he won't go more than a block beyond our street, but will cross the high traffic street. a neighbor said "that's your cat right?" so I told her his name was Chester and that he lived on my porch, so yeah, pretty much. he apparently runs up whenever someone makes a delivery, if he isn't already waiting on the door mat.
we're strictly a 2-cat household. keeping the litter clean is already a pain in my ass, and after having a lemon of a cat, we know we can't responsibly afford more than 2. so out on the porch he stays. we got him neutered and accustomed to people, so I feel a sense of responsibility towards him. it's unlikely he would get a spot in the foster or adopted because 1) it's overfull 2) he's a ratty looking motherfucker.
also pictured is Sylvester Junior, in the white socks. named Jr because he looks very much like Sylvester, the King of the Block. Sylvester got hit by a car, survived, and went through two surgeries, so he's living inside now, hopefully forever. I thought he didn't have an owner, or else I would have said something about letting him outside. then again, maybe it was a situationship, like what we have with Chester.

Me: *goes to Coral Island tag*
Me: *sees SEVERAL Dinosaur themed accounts complaining about the 2 outdoor cats in a game with giants and mermaids.*
Me: "...is... this this the same person with multiple accounts just... spamming? I... wait did they just reply to themselves from another account? Oh wow..."

In 2022, if you still think leaving your "beloved" pet cat outside is still ok, then just know if I find it I will take it to a shelter as an abandoned animal.
Cats are responsible for mass extinction of local wildlife, stray cats also have extremely short lifespans because of other animals, illnesses, and humans (either intentional or accidental).
Be a good pet owner and keep your animals inside or on a leash.
If you can't provide enrichment for your animal and you believe letting them outside is the only way to give them enrichment then you don't deserve to have an animal.

I support ppl who see just, any cat outside, neighborhood or not, and are like "someone DUMPED this cat!!!" and then they steal someone's outdoor cat. cats shouldn't be outdoors anyways and whoever stole it seems to think cat outside=dumped, and will prob keep them inside.

I kinda went off on Twitter today but am I wrong to do so?
I might have forgotten to mention that the sibling of the cat that was hit and lived and had to be put down was also hit by a car. And did not survive her encounter.

when are we going to regard the people who argue in favor of outdoor cats the same way we regard antivaxxers
