“please don’t take too long or we’ll stand in line for hours” you pout at suguru who’s tying his hair in a bun.

“i won’t, doll” he kisses your forehead, “sit pretty here while i finish this ‘kay?” he points to a bench and you nod.

suguru walks towards the six men that awaited the wholesome interaction between him and his girl like they don’t look like they’re going to beat the shit out of him with bats, which they’re tapping on their palms while shouting cusses.

you didn’t bother asking what he did for those guys this time. suguru (and needless to say satoru) frequently get involved in trouble and more often than not someone comes back for ‘revenge’.

too bad for them suguru is well trained in more than one martial art.

you put your buds on and comedy by gen hoshino is the first song that comes up as you swing your feet to the beat, hoping this fight finishes before the next song.

the soft beats relax you while you look at the distant buildings, and thanks to the noise cancelling you don’t hear the punches and groans happening in the background.

“uh ladybug” you murmur watching the cute ladybug beside you on the bench putting your finger in front of her to climb on.

meanwhile suguru takes a stick that most likely used be a broom and uses to make the man coming running towards him flip and fall on his back then hitting the next one between his legs.

he looks around after that realizing the six guys are all on the floor rolling from pain, “if i see your faces when im with my girl again i’ll feed your dicks to the dogs” he spits on the leader’s face before going to back to you.

“sorry, doll. let’s go” he holds his hand out, you smile and remove your earphones, eagerly raising to take his hand and continue the path to the new restaurant he promised to take you.

“ah suguru~” you whine looking at his face with a frown.

“what? ah!” he touches his face and feel the wetness seeing red on his fingertips then wiping it off with a tissue from his pocket, “not mine, don’t worry baby.”

“i know it’s not yours, but now i can’t kiss your cheek” you pout with a grossed out expression and he laughs.

“aren’t ya concerned for me the slightest?”

“should i be? you’re the best fighter i know” he smiles putting an arm around you.

“that’s right. i’ll wash my face in the restroom, can’t go through the night without your kisses.”

Goblin is One of the Best Shows Ever Made

Thanks to @lurkingshan using @kyr-kun-chan against me, I completed Goblin aka Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

I will say plainly that I think this is one of the most excellently-calibrated pieces of media I have ever watched. The show balances the attention span and varying interests of its audience perfectly. I like romance well enough, but I am so much more invested in stories about the Warrior's Bond. As soon as they revealed that Goblin was a loyal general betrayed by his king, and now forced to roam the earth in search of connection as he intervened in the lives of people struggling with ideation I was HOOKED.

This show gives so much attention to everyone's loneliness in a way that no other show I've watched balances correctly, because Goblin uses its comedy as a relief valve so well. I cried so many times because this show has so many decent people in it trying to do their best. I also ugly cried about a dog.

It's rare that I enjoy a tragic piece of media as much as this, and I get why a quarter of the Korean population was tuning in live to watch this. The timing of this scene is the best episode ending I have seen in years.

I'll probably have more to say about this later, but Goblin is an excellent piece of media because it makes me want to watch more historical kdrama. I enjoyed this and Kingdom a lot, and am genuinely interested in more now.

Bonus: This show let me read Deok Hwa as gay the whole time and I respect that.
