I began walking towards the 'Secretive Plotter'. "…Kim Dokja?" I heard [999] call out to me, but I didn't look back. I undid the [Miniaturisation], and my eye level changed rapidly. The black coat [999] placed on my shoulders wavered along with every step I took. [< Star Stream >'s Probability is now shifting!] [Stream of the great main scenario is now dwelling in you.] Past the canopy of the vine-covered forest, the sea of stars of the < Star Stream > could be seen. On one side of the sky, stars were emitting bright light, while on the other side, ominous-looking galaxies alongside the [Great Hole] were quietly flowing about. Half of it, light, while the other half, darkness. Soon, the final war would begin. And most likely, I would have to stand on one of the sides to witness the end of the world. [Your second Modifier has been decided.] A small star flickered on the far side of the sky. I stared at it for the longest time, before slowly reverting my gaze back to the ground. The 'Outer Gods' were now looking at me. I returned their gazes and finally chose the side I'd stand. [Your second Modifier is the 'Watcher of Light and Darkness'.]

We have a Modifier!!!

Lmfao I jokingly said what it should be a few posts back, and I was both (understandably) way off and actually kind of not? It’s got two opposing parts just like I said! And at this point I’ll take even that as a win since I haven’t known what’s going on for like ten chapters now. I’m just along for the ride.

It's a very Dokja Modifier, just like his first one. Of course when given a choice between A and B, he chooses C. He will watch both sides. He will be both a Demon King and a savior.

And Dokja has officially decided not to follow his own plan. Right after Secretive Plotter got done pointing out that Joonghyuk also hasn’t been following his plan to destroy the Star Stream…

So I assume we're gonna see one final Kim Dokja Scheme. 😁

Though, actually, does it even need to be a scheme considering he seems to be shifting Probability around himself??? Is he the one actively deciding the Main Scenario now????? Not just the “Main Scenario” but the great main scenario, aka what I assume is the goal of the entire rest of the story they’re in?

Ahhhhhhhhhhh! What is happening!

I mean, it makes sense if that’s the case. He has been creating revisions of the novel as he’s gone along, not to mention everything that’s been going on with the whole concept of “he didn’t like the ending that he saw so he decided to change it” with Secretive Plotter coming back onto the frontlines and Dokja knowing how TWSA ended and wanting to give everyone a better one and even the mention of how maybe the author disliked the ending of TWSA and wanted to change it waaaay back in the Peace Land arc iirc and and and…

Also, I just now remembered that Dokja never actually read that final revision.

im never not thinking abt the hsy -> yjh -> kdj (oblivious) transgender pipeline. extended this also looks like hsy -> yjh -> kdj (oblivious) -> jhy -> kdj (POINTEDLY IGNORING). btw

i think its a shame that once people get into a certain pattern of media analysis its hard to get out of it.. like this character has trait A and trait B so they, like many other characters who have both of these traits, must have trait C when thats not necessarily the case! im guilty of this as well, but there are so many readings that often get overlooked for the most common assumption, even if its not necessarily accurate.

#abt a discussion on twitter that resulted in someone posing that since kdj has issues with his father and issues with his emotions its bc #he sees them as feminine and therefore weak. which is a common character type! but a faulty reading for kdj in specific making.#orv never equates feminity w weakness and in fact some of its more powerful charas are its female charas.#what orv does equate to weakness for kdj specifically is childhood. so yes kdj does see his emotions as unbefitting and bad.#but not because he takes any onus w being seen as feminine (and he never really is except for his general dead wife role)#its because he sees his own emotions as childish. and thats what he considers weakness. which is fair of him tbh.#anyways this is just to say we've trained ourselves to look at media in a certain way even if it isnt supported by said media.#this orv shit on twitter is easy as hell btw several of my threads have blown up on there (confused voice)

Hi! Glad to see an ORV writer. They seem to be a very rare breed. Like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Anyhow, as you might have guessed. I have an ORV request for you. I got sort of inspired by that vampire. How about having our reader being a phoenix? Ya know the mythical immortal firebird? With the related powers? Like how would KDJ and YHJ react to their “s/o” being one? Like say they seemingly ‘died’ but then ina red flash of flames they are instantly revived, completely healed.

Kim Dokja knew you were a phoenix, as it said from the story and your character profile said so. What he didn't realize was the fact that you also shared the same abilities as one (your character was mentioned only a few times in TWSA). So when you died, Kim Dokja was terrified.

Kim Dokja's eyes widened at your body standing in front of him. Nononono! He-He was supposed to take the shot! Why did you do that?! You knew he could revive again!-why?

He dashed to catch your fallen body. "No, no, no! [name]! Y-you can't die! Shit! Why did you do that!?" But your body had already fell limp. Kim Dokja cried for his favorite side character, his lover, his idol.

He held you close, yet tears were unable to fall due to the fourth wall. "I can't even cry or mourn you...What kind of lover am I?" He could only close his eyes and curse fate for doing this to him.

You opened your eyes to darkness, until a screen popped up.

[You have died.]

[Revitalization count down has finished.]

[The skill, Phoenix:Revive, is taking effect.]

Kim Dokja's eyes opened, then widening as your body started to burn. He could only step back, and watch as your body lit on fire. Your clothes started to burn, besides the ones which were fire resistant. 'I couldn't even give you a proper goodbye and their taking me away from you?...' Kim Dokja thought bitterly. He looked down at the ground, clenching his fists in anger.

You opened your eyes, your body feeling warm as a flame engulfed you. 'Ah...how nice it is to be a phoenix...' You sighed in relief.

The sound of your sigh snapped Kim Dokja's head up to you. "[N-name]? H-how?" Oh, how he wanted to cry so much right then and there. Too bad for the fourth wall.

You stood up as the flames lessoned and cooled down, dusting off some ash. "Huh?...But I thought you knew? I'm a phoenix remember?" You tilted your head in confusion. Wasn't he the one to realize you were a phoenix the moment you met? Surely it wasn't a bluff right?

"A-ah right...how could I be so foolish..." He mumbled, blushing a bit as his heart rate cooled down from the shock. He ran up to you, hugging you tightly and not letting go, ignoring the sweat and high temperature that surrounded you. "Y-you can't do that again!.."

You stood still, a menacing aura coming from you. "What the hell do you mean 'I can't do that again?' Once the cool down is finished, I won't let you die. Hypocrite. You were gonna take the shot for that wretched man, so why can't I?" You seethed in anger.

"Right right sorry..." Kim Dokja scratched his head bashfully. You were right... "I won't stop you okay? Don't be mad..." (He lied he was going to make sure you never had the chance to sacrifice yourself again no matter what).

Just as Shin Yoosung fired the bright beam, your body instinctively moved. "Joonghyuk! Stop staring like a deer in headlights!-" You grabbed Yoo Joonghyuk by the collar, throwing him back behind you as you took the hit.

"Keugh!-" You fell on your knees, coughing up blood nonstop. "A-Ah..no...[name]?..." Yoo Joonghyuk took fast, trembling steps as he caught your falling body.

"Heuk...it hurts...Joonghyuk it hurt so much!..." You cried, your tears mixing with your blood as it dripped down to the side of your face. "P-please don't regress...These new companions, don't abandon them please. I'll be okay.." You begged, grasping onto Yoo Joonghyuk's clothes weakly, before dropping limp, dead.

"Haah, Haah..." Yoo Joonghyuk breathed deeply. Why did he have to see you die again? His only lover in each regression, who cherished him deeply and believed him when he told them he was a regressor, and stayed by his side no matter what. "Why?...Why did you die for me?" Tears dripped down onto your face. The single fear Yoo Joonghyuk had every regression...your death.

You opened your eyes to darkness. 'I wonder if he stayed?' You pondered. He, your lover, the man who saved you from your eternal cure of sleep as a phoenix.

[You have died.]

Ah right, you were a phoenix.

Thankfully, the countdown ended, so you could return to your lover.

Yoo Joonghyuk felt a burning pain in his hands as you were set ablaze. "No!" Yoo Joonghyuk screamed, were the gods not even allowing him to bury you properly? Kim Dokja had to hold Yoo Joonghyuk back as he thrashed around, continuously hurting the man, trying to reach his lover.

"[NAME]!" He shouted, then eyes widening as he stepped back. "[name]?..." Your clothes were a bit burned besides the fire resistant ones.

"I wonder if he stayed?..." You mumbled, looking around. You really hoped he didn't regress.

"Y-you're alive...H-how?" Joonghyuk stood still.

"I'm a phoenix, remember? I can come back to life." You smiled, tears dripping down your face. "I'm so happy you didn't regress this time."

His eyes widened in horror and regret. Does that mean..Every time you died and he had regressed, you came back to life moments later? No...no...how-how much time had you spent alone? How could he leave you?

Guilt crept into him. He took a shaky step towards you. "E-every time...you came back?.." His eyes widened, hands shaking as he reached out to hug you.

You nodded solemnly. "I'm afraid so." A bitter chuckle came from you lips. He spoke, "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to leave you, I-" You cut him off and hugged him as he sobbed into your shoulder.

"Its alright, my dear. Just don't do it again alright? Wait for me. I don't want to be alone."

"Alright." He whispered.

when Kim Dokja cries, its bound to be in an isolated place late at night, so nobody can find him. he wouldnt want to worry anybody with his ‘stupid’ feelings.

The sound of sniffling awoke you, making you step out of the tent that you slept in. When you fully stepped out and looked around, you saw Dokja sitting on a log by the fire.

“…Dokja? Are you alright? Why are you still awake?”

He jolts as he notices you, and quickly wipes his eyes. He turns around at you and smiles.

“..what are you doing awake, (y/n)? Is everything alright?” He asks, his eyes red, but heavy with confusion and comfort.

“I could ask you the same thing…” You say, walking towards him. You sit on the log next to him, and he watches. He thinks of a response to satiate your curiosity, but cant come up with a good enough excuse.He sighs and looks at the fire.

“It was nothing. I was just thinking.” He says, resting his head on one of his hands.

“I mean, you can talk to me if you want. I wouldnt mind,” You say, putting your head onto his shoulder.

He smiles at you and sighs attentively. He felt so lucky to have someone to talk to.

YOO JOONGHYUK

When Yoo Joonghyuk cries, he suppresses the tears, making them drop slowly like faint rain before a storm. He tries his hardest to hold his tears back, keeping his head down so nobody can see him cry.

As you finish a monster, you look over at Joonghyuk, ready to smile at him, but then you realize something.

Hes just standing there. In the rain.

He would usually usher you to get ready to move on and fight another monster for the benefits, but he just…wasnt saying anything.

“Are you alright, Joonghyuk?” You say, walking up to him with a hand out steadily, trying to reach his shoulder.

As your fingers slowly touch his coat that was soiled by the rain, you realize his broad shoulders were shaking and he flinches, then quickly swats your hand away. You sigh, pouting, watching him turn around and mutter a quiet “m’ fine.”

“If you ever need anything, you can talk to me. We’re friends, after all. Im here for you.” You say, as you pick up your equipment and look at his back.

“..we dont have time for this.” He says, walking away, expecting for you to follow. Little did you know, he wanted to take you up on the offer.

LEE GILYOUNG

when Lee Gilyoung cries, it’s bound to be after a tough encounter with a monster, or after a nightmare. He hyperventilates—unable to breathe or focus on anything.

You deliver the final blow on a monster, out of breath. You stand there for a few seconds, trying to atleast regain some of your stamina. It was a close fight.

You turn around to check on your crew, firstly checking on the youngest, Lee Gilyoung.

When you reach him, you quickly realize the little boy was shaking.

“Gilyoung?! Are you alright?” You say as you go down on your knees and look up at the boy. His eyes were red and his shoulders shook, with a quivering lip.

He tries to respond, but his words come out in hiccups, and he takes sullen breaths of air as he tries to breathe.

“slow down, its okay,” you say, rubbing his shoulders, trying to calm him down. You take a water out of your inventory, then look at him.

His breath slows down back to normal, and he drinks some of the water, as his lips stop quivering.

“..i think im feeling better now.” He says, looking up at you. His eyes were puffy and he sniffled. He looked downwards, ashamed.

You gave him a hug.

“Im so glad you’re alright, Gilyoung.” You say, as you rub his back. He reluctantly hugs you back, but then quickly melts into the hug.

“Thank you, Unnie.”

LEE HYUNSUNG

Lee Hyunsung’s tears are big droplets, flowing from his puppy eyes. His eyes get extremely watery, and he sniffles a lot when he cries.

After a tough day, Lee Hyunsung comes home to you and sulks, his big eyes watery and his mouth pouty.

You drag him to the bed, and he tells you about his day, all while sniffing. When he gets to the worst part of his day, he fully breaks down in your arms. You stroke his hair, telling him that everything is going to be okay.

As he slowly stops sobbing, he immediately apologizes—he says that “no man should cry to his wife,” and that “he should be comforting you, not the other way around”.

His eyes are red and puffy, and his lips are pouting as he looks down as if he’s disappointed in himself. You put a hand on his cheek and kiss it.

“Honey, it’s alright. There’s no reason to feel this way,” You say, smiling at him. “I’ll comfort you, and you’ll comfort me. Simple.” He smiles down at you, then wraps his arms around you, nuzzling into your chest as you two lay down.

“How did I get so lucky…?”

Squid and Sunfish

Once upon a time, there was a little squid. The squid had no purpose in life, so it just drifted along with the current.

Until one day, it came across a sunfish. Strange, thought the squid. Usually sunfish don’t come down this deep.

He asked the sunfish what it was doing in the deep ocean. To which the sunfish replied

“I’m looking for a companion.”

The squid was confused. The only one this deep for miles was him.

He looked the sunfish up and down. Surely this guy wasn’t looking for him?

“Well there’s nobody else here but me,” said the squid.

“That’s fine,” said the sunfish.

The squid blinked. Did this stupid sunfish really not get it? He was a loser with no life! Why would this guys want /him/ as a companion.

The sunfish noticed the squid’s distress.

“If you don’t want a companion, there’s nothing I can do,” He said flatly.

As the sunfish swan away, the squid felt an aching in its heart. He realized, he didn’t want the sunfish to leave!

“Wait,” said the squid. The sunfish stopped.

“If you really aren’t bothered, I’ll be your companion.”

The squid couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth. Him someone’s companion? Really? The sunfish turned around and smirked.

That annoying way sunfish do. “Knew it.” He said. And from then on. They lived as companions.

Department story YJH

What if Joongdok AU where Yoo Junghyuk works at A department store and Kim Dokja comes in as a single dad who has to fix his door handle. Except he has no clue how and has no mechanical knowledge.

When Yjh saw a man walk in with a little girl holding his hand he thought--nothing of it. People bring their kids places all the time. But when the man seemingly walked through every isle in a lost manner for what felt like hours, Yjh thought it might be time to step in.

Usually he’d let one of his coworkers handle helping costumers since he-- hated when people went to department stores not knowing what they needed.

Alas, it was a busy day and all of the other employees were helping equally lost customers.

Yjh approached the man when he heard the little girl say

“daddy, why don’t you just ask for help?”--To which the man replied,

“don’t worry sweetie daddy knows what he’s doing…” and went back to looking at shelves that clearly didn’t house what he needed.

“Can I help you with anything?” Said Yjh almost startling the man.

He noticed the small girl staring at her father clearly--waiting to see his response.

“Ah, yes… well… could you point me in the direction of the doorknobs?” Said the man.

Yjh had to hold in his sigh. Only because he had seen the man pass the doorknobs twice in his search.

“Right this way.” He said in the most polite voice he could--muster. He lead the man a couple of isles down.

“Thank you.” Said the man gratefully.

Yjh simply nodded and went back to walking around.

20 minutes later he happened to walk by the isle again, and to his complete and utter shock, the man was still standing there. Yjh walked up--to the man and asked him what the problem was.

“Oh haha, it’s just that… I don’t seem to know what doorknob I need….” The man let out an embarrassed chuckle.

Yjh had just about had it with him. Really, the amount of stress this man was causing him was unnatural.

Yjh tried asking him which model he currently had or if he needed a knew one. The man said he just needed to fix his old one but beyond that he just pretended to ponder. Yjh asked if he had a picture of his old one to which the man said

“ohhhh that’s what I forgot!” At that--Yjh snapped.

He quickly offered to buy one of each kind of doorknob for the man and personally come to his house and instal the one he needed. The man simply seemed taken aback by the offer and the forwardness.

Of course, who wouldn’t with an offer like that. They exchanged--numbers and the man introduced himself as Kim Dokja. Once he finally left, Yjh’s shift was over.

Yjh realized this man had been in the store for a total of 2 hours. As well as that, he had only been looking for a doorknob. A DOORKNOB FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Yjh took an angry shower and went straight to bed.

The next morning he went into work and after his shift bought exactly what he said he would. When his coworker Hsy asked what he was doing he ranted about the situation to her.

“Wow, you’re down bad” she joked to which Yjh replied to by walking--to his car and driving away.

He texted Kdj and got his address. When he arrived he rang the doorbell. For a while nobody answered. He was getting annoyed because Kdj had told him he was home over text. Then he heard a door open from the back and the sound of rickety wood.

He-turned towards the sound to see Kdj with a tree beach in his hair.

“Hey, sorry about that. The front doorknob is the one that’s broken so we can’t get in and out of it,” he explained.

Yjh felt a pang of pity for this poor man. Kdj gave him permission to forcefully pull-the door open to fix the knob. He did so without much of a struggle. When he saw the state the doorknob was in he wondered how Kdj could’ve let it get this bad.

He wondered how many times he had jammed the door in and out before it got so bad he just couldn’t anymore.

He fixed the doorknob, and when he went to leave Kdj stopped him.

“You know, you could stay and have dinner. It’s the least we can do for all the help you’ve given us.” He paused. “Even if it was out of spite,” he added.

Yjh’s ears went red. Had his reaction really been so obviously out--of frustration?

“You don’t have to though,” said Kdj when he saw Yjh’s hesitation. “No, I accept,” said Yjh curtly.

When he sat down and tried the food, safe to say, he was thoroughly disappointed. Along with knowing nothing of mechanics, he also could barely cook? Yjh’s pea-sized brain saw this as an obvious cry for help and he offered to cook for Kdj every weekend. Kdj at first said know but Yjh was very adamant about it.

Finally Kdj agreed out of the guise that he wanted his daughter Byoo to have better food. In reality he was touched that Yjh-would want to help so bad.

Fast forward a couple months and Yjh asks Kdj to go out.

Somehow, unknown to even Yjh himself, he had fallen for the man who he had met lost in a department store. Kdj agreed and they became boyfriends.

End

Shoe on the other foot

Joongdok Idea that Kdj has really Small feet and Yjh has normal/large feet and as a scenario penalty they have to swap shoes.

So while they’re fighting Kdj has to deal with big boots that keep slipping off and he keeps tripping and falling.

And on the other hand Yjh can’t feel his toes but at the same time is in constant pain.

Not to mention Kdj wears dress shoes so Yjh is having even more fun.

By the end of it Yjh just gets tired of Kdj faking so he just Carries him.

Pillows

What if Joongdok crack au where Kdj keeps buying decorative pillows and Yjh is losing his sitting spots

Yjh tries to sit on the couch but falls to the ground because there’s too many pillows on the couch.

Kdj: oh sorry let me move those^^

He throws them on an already humongous pile of other decorative pillows.

Yjh: why do you need so many??

Kdj: They make the house look nice

Yjh takes a look around the room and there’s piles and piles of pillows everywhere.

He gives Kdj a look of exasperation.

Kdj: well maybe we can put some in storage?

(I imagine this is on some kind of reality tv show and there’s a camera)

The camera cuts to Yjh gesturing violently to the tons of pillows in storage already.

Kdj: huh…

Then the scene switches to their bedroom and Yjh’s side of the bed is covered in pillows.

The camera cuts to one of those interview scenes

Yjh: I have 10% bed space left… I did the math

By the end of it they get Kdj help and he agrees to get rid of most of the pillows, begrudgingly. And Yjh can finally sit in his own house again.

The end scene is Yjh sitting in a couch and just smiling.

Pizza Hut vs Domnioes

When lgy and sys decided to make the Domino’s and Pizza Hut in their local town call each other, they weren’t expecting it to blow up this much.

Or even in fact, kickstart a relationship It started as any other harmless little prank by kids would.

They grabbed two phones and had dialed the the two stores on them.

They snickered uncontrollably as the phones rang.

“Shhhhh- haha, shhhhhhhh” said lgy trying to contain his laughter.

“I know, I know,” sys was having an even harder time.

Brrrrr brrrrr brrrr.

“Hello? This is Pizza Hut what can I do for you?”

And

“Hello this is Dominos, what would you like”

Two men’s voices could be heard from the phones.

“What?” They both said in unison.

“This is dominos, you wanted to order a pizza?” Said the deeper gruffer voice.

“If I ordered something from you it definitely wouldn’t be pizza, heck, I’d be weary of a soda from you guys!” Said the other voice.

The other phone went silent. Then,

“Well that’s too bad cause that means you’re stuck with the stuff you people make… yeesh.”The other voice let out an obviously exaggerated gasp.

“How dare you? You know what, where’s your store??”

“123 west rd, and what’s /yours/“

Sys and lgy were dying laughing at this point, they had to go to the corner of the room.

“246 North st!” The other voice said harshly.

“You know what?” It continued, “meet me at 135 south blvd, I dare you!”

“We’ll get ready to be defeated!” Announced the other.

Then both calls hung up. Sys and lgy were silent for a momen before running into the other room.

“HSY!! CAN YOU DRIVE US TI 135 BLVD?? WE WANT TO SEE TWO GROWN MEN FIGHT!!” They said, in unison to the author who was trying to get her work done, now unsuccessfuly. Hsy looked at them seemingly to debate the pros and cons of granting their request.

However it wasn’t long before she gave in to her need to see grown men being idiots and she found herself driving. When they got there the pulled into a parking lot.

Nobody was there at first but then two men showed up.

One was a very plain looking man in a black button up and a Pizza Hut apron.

The other a very handsome man in a Dominos Apron.

“So you’re the apparently handsome man who thinks Domino’s sells pizza!” Shouted the plain looking one from about 20 ft away from the other.

“What do you mean, ‘sells pizza’ THATS WHAT WERE KNOWN FOR!” Bellowed the other from the same distance. “I wouldn’t call what you’re known for /pizza/!” The scrawny man taunted.

The handsomer man opened his mouth to reply but then paused.

“You- wait did you call me handsome earlier?” He asked befuddled.

The latter’s face went beet red. “W-well, yeah! Who wouldn’t,” he stuttered.”

The taller man seemed the think for a moment before stating,

“If you come to Domino’s we… /I/ could treat you a lot better than those guys at Pizza Hut.”

The other man seemed to short circuit for a moment. “B-but nobody out pizzas the Hut!” He said in a last ditch attempt to save his already fleeting dignity.

“Bet,” responded the other who then smirked devilishly.

Meanwhile lgy and sys were fighting over the left back window of the car for better view than the other. Hsy was simply enjoying the scene from the driver’s seat. They had their windows cracked slightly as to hear what was being said.

“10 bucks says they go out,” announced Hsy suddenly.

“I’ll take that bet! No way they’d go out!” Said Lgy. “Yeah! If you heard them on the phones you’d know!” Boasted Sys.

“We’ll just see,” mused Hsy.

Meanwhile in the parking lot, the men were at a standstill.

“What’s your name?” Said the skinnier man.

“Yjh, and yours?”

“Kdj”

“Well Kdj, you wanna come to the better pizza store and earn a date with me?” Said Yjh confidently.

Kdj let out a small “sure” and walked away.

Unfortunately he was so far away Yjh didn’t hear him.

“Well?!” He shouted

“I SAID SURE!” Kdj shouted back.

“GREAT! SEE YOU AT THE DOMINO’S BUILDING THIS SATURDAY”

“SEE YOU THEN!”

And just like that Lgy and Sys had orchestrated one of the best and most entertaining events of their little town.

/ orv main story ending spoilers , mentions of kdj's suicidal mindset

mindless rambling

my friend who just finished orv asked me why kdj couldn't just split like 2% off of himself into an od avatar and leave that in the train while he joined kimcom, and while my initial reaction was "there's no way he could just do that" I remembered i thought a similar thing when I first read through orv too? and maybe it got explained down the line but I forget things real easy (which is why i'm rereading orv) and so I'm just trying to make sense of it using my existing knowledge

There's this bit in epilogue here:

Sangah's words "protecting the world by dividing himself in half, one becomes the reader, one becomes the character". the first being 51 and the second being 49,

I think there are layers to it. Right after being shaken by the OD ordeal, kdj's mindset that he's to blame for the whole world is reinforced stronger than ever before in his head, because he had just witnessed living proof of it. And that's not something he can overcome just because sp and 999 gang took od away to take care of him. Even then, kdj was confused why they weren't angry.

There's also the persisting mindset kdj has that he's twsa's reader and not a proper part of kimcom, and he probably felt like he should bear the burden of consciously continuing to read the world until the very end. He managed to see himself as part of kimcom over the course of the story but od's appearance sort of undoes all that progress he's ever made, and its sad but its pretty common for self hate mindsets to spiral like that,

He probably felt like he deserved it, yet him wanting that extra 2% difference to prove he knew and loved kimcom more than his avatar. Him regretting splitting in half right after the avatar left and he saw them all walking away. He knows what he wants and in the end he can't bring himself to think that he deserves it

And honestly I don't really know why the way singshong writes kdj's self hate and suicidal tendencies get me so badly, I mean I do, kind of, the feeling is there, but it's incredible how long the set up was and how real it feels when you see it all go downhill.

i think od reveal truly truly fucked up kdj to no repair. like if you read the passages, its fucking heartbreaking.

"My own tragedy couldn't even compare to their pain. The sin of creating an even bigger tragedy because of my own should not be forgiven." "Something was wrong. A blade… I, I needed to find a blade."

and the thing that gets to me is how easily anyone who has had self loathing thoughts can empathise with him. The want to disappear for inconveniencing things that would've been perfectly fine and pretty and happy had you not come into contact with it, the idea that you are a disgusting monster and its easier to shut yourself off than do any more damage. and its Fine if youre in pain because They will be happy and theyll will be happier without you.

It fascinates me how a portion of readers of orv who self blame or self doubt love kdj so much, because the act of loving him is also some form of self reassurance that they can be loved as well, because if someone like kdj can be forgiven, then surely they can, for all their small or big mistakes that are definitely not on the scale of plunging the universe into a space apocalypse. or something.

but i might be assuming so. don't take my word for any of this.

tldr he doesnt split out a small avatar to take the place of od because he thinks he deserves it. which is quite obvious if you take a look at the big picture, and i dont really know why i rambled so long. maybe ill reread orv and theres gona be a small bit that's like "ohh well actually if it was too small of a percentage that became od the universe wont hold up" and i will be like Ah yes i just missed that part. and this ramble will be void. uhh yes. have a nice day

Do you think the MIA side story is actually the "original timeline" cause if not, I'm thinking about what would have happened if kimcom (well sys & lsh) didn't intervene

i actually have so many thoughts about this jahdjkdh STRAP IN LONG POST AHEAD

first lets talk about what the 'original timeline' is. the simplest way to define it is the story written of in the original 'Ways of Survival' 3149 chapters, that happens without Kim Dokja's (or hsy's) direct influence. ergo, Secretive Plotter's 1863 regressions, but also the unrecorded history of his life as an outer god.

that leaves round's 0, alt-1863, 1864, 1865 as worlds that were directly influenced by kim dokja and part of an 'altered' timeline, and I would make the claim that they happen to a different, alt!yjh too.

if the 'original timeline' is written by 1863!hsy in the novel 'Ways of Survival', lived by the Secretive Plotter and brought to life by the Oldest Dream; then the 'altered timeline' is written by 'our' Han Sooyoung and 1864!Yoo Joonghyuk (+kimcom) in 'Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint,' lived by Kim Dokja and brought to life by us.

for me, all confusing time paradox, alternate universe stuff makes sense in the context of these two timelines.

Secretive Plotter, when he becomes an outer god and starts observing his own past regressions, mistakenly starts to believe that he can intervene in his own past because he seemingly successfully did in the 999th turn- but actually, that was the only way it could have ever gone, because that was what was written in WoS and what he had already lived. it was an exception and the only exception.

(the alt!1863 world-line was always different from his own past 1863rd regression, unlike with 999, because he would have remembered it if it had happened to him; he only decided to intervene in it bc the alt!3rd turn existed, which in turn was created because he intervened in the alt!1863 turn etc etc the end result devours the cause etc we get it)

SP knows the universe is a closed loop intellectually but he doesn't ever comprehend it fully- because he is a character, he cannot see past the fourth wall even when he learns of its existence (he very literally cant break past the Final Wall). but his story wasn't about that. as all Yoo Joonghyuks do, he wondered about the meaning of his existence, and the conclusion he eventually arrived at was that he existed for the Oldest Dream- he accepted this answer, made the oldest dream a reality and went off to live in domestic found family bliss with little kdj and 999th turns outer gods. thats the way he escapes being a 'character.' (good for him)

on the other hand 'our' yoo joonghyuk / alt!yjh is on a totally different trajectory than Secretive Plotter.

his story starts (as much as anything has a 'start' in orv...) at the end of the alt!1863 world-line when he chooses to live / regress to meet Kim Dokja. he only knows to do that because he literally sees his own story written on the Fourth Wall- hes already very locked in to the truth of the universe from the get-go. then, he sacrifices most of his memories to create that world he saw, the quote 'world-line above the Wall.' he does the impossible and escapes from being a character with his own fervent willpower.

and this YJH is the one we read about in ORV, whose fundamentally different from SP in various ways but most importantly in his...complete self-awareness of the fact he is a character in a novel, not intellectually, but like, existentally?? he is constantly not breaking the fourth wall exactly, but seeing the edges of it intruding on his experience of reality in cosmically horrifying ways (he reminds me a lot of that one tumblr post about eldritch madness).

ANYWAY WE HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED AT YOUR QUESTION JESUS THIS POST IS LONG

yma side story yoo joonghyuk is the alt!yjh through and through baby!!!! he is:

directly impacted by kim dokja's existence (through kimcom)

living through events not described in WoS (but that are described in ORV)

existentially aware of a (fourth) wall dividing reality in two (to the point of madness/psychosis- he literally sees this wall in a psychic vision!!)

and to answer the second part of your question...its hard to say what SP thinks about his pre-scenarios life, but I think it might be along the same lines as every other character does. he knows he was a pro gamer, can vaugley reminisce about it, but it isnt relevent to the plot so he doesnt think about it very often. (heck, he might even assume he has parents and a childhood!)
