What if we kissed in front of the flag of Tolmekia 😳🙈
It's been more than one year since I'd first drawn them together. It's insane how much their designs in my style changed since then. I've decided to change their color pallettes because there are a lot of references to South Asia in the worldbuilding and the designs but everyone is strangely white and this might have been the best decision in my life

I do hope that if Studio Ghibli ever decides to branch out into animated series, that one of the first series they make is a full adaptation of the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind manga.
(Kinda worried that people are automatically going to shit on it if Ghibli decides to use CGI for it though...)

Burdened by what she knows and what she must do, Nausicaa can’t fly freely anymore…
Hey so remember that drawing I made of bird Nausicaa? The idea struck me how as time goes on in the manga, she loses her innocence, getting more and more tangled in difficult and complex situations. She realizes she can’t save everyone, especially with no casualties. I wanted to draw this idea in metaphor :)

“Fields of gold..” 🌾✨
idk but the light dragon scene made me think so much of the “fields of gold” scene in Nausicaa, i just had to do a redraw (couldn’t decide between these 2 shots tho so, both it is lol)

Paul Atreides and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Nausicaä, like many other sci-fi works was inspired by Dune. One example is the giant insects Ohmu getting their name from the Japanese pronunciation of worm (ウォーム) 🪱
