Kasuka didn't even think twice about coming home with blond hair.
It had been for a movie and he forgot to tell Ruri about it; he thought that it would, at most, just make her stare at him for a few minutes while he explained that it was temporary and would fade over the next few days. But when he walked in, she was terrified.
Kasuka sometimes forgot that he and Shizuo looked extremely similar.
"Ruri?"
Sighing and crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall next to the door she had locked herself behind, Kasuka frowned. He had already showered but the blond color was still relatively vibrant; a towel rested over his head but a few strands still showed. He hadn't realized it would affect her this much; it seemed she was still afraid of Shizuo.
Not that he blamed her.
"Is..."
"It'll be this color for a few days," he murmured. "Niisan still terrifies you that much?"
She was silent.
"...Should I stay away?" he sighed, straightening. "I don't mind."
"...How are you not afraid of him?" her voice came and he gave a small frown. "After all... he tried to throw a fridge at you when you were just kids."
"Mm... it never occurred to me to be afraid of him. Niisan was always just niisan. He got angry and violent, sure, but I was never afraid of him. I never thought he'd hurt me."
"...You trust him that much?"
"Yeah."
The door gave a click after a moment and Ruri stepped out, keeping her eyes bowed as she walked into him, arms loosely around his body. Kasuka's eyes closed as he returned the embrace, murmuring 'should I get a wig?'
"...That's all right. Shizuo-san can't be a bad person if you trust him so much."
Kasuka gave a ghost of a smile.
"...Niisan's not a bad person. Not at all."

okay okay nonsensical word vomit ahead but hear me out
werewolf heiwajimas au right??? namiko and kichirou live hiding from society. not wanting to cause anybody any harm, living like pacifist werewolves, but they still send their kids to school and stuff. shizuo's nature is just as we know it; he's short-tempered and freakishly strong. but those qualities have done nothing more than bring him bad attention. his identity isn't revealed but everyone knows shizuo isn't normal for a human either.
so kasuka grows up seeing all of what his brother has to go through and he decides that he desperately wants none of that. he wants to live life like a human. so he takes a completely different and extreme route. he represses all of his instincts, to the point he makes himself devoid of everything. making him not normal enough for a human, but not inhuman enough to be a monster.
their parents are very adamant about not bringing themselves too much attention, for safety reasons. they tell them to stay far from other monsters, since they'll be able to see through them way more easily than humans. but they especially tell them to stay far from vampires. vampires and werewolves are natural enemies, and the heiwajimas don't want to be involved in any conflicts. they don't want to end up fighting (and losing) for territory again.
they warn them about the known vampire clans that move around the same area as them and also keep their identities a secret, like the orihara's and the hijiribe's. plus other unidentified individuals that live in solitude.
the issue? the older orihara is way too provocative and annoying for shizuo's sake. and the hijiribe girl is way too curious and fixated in kasuka's eccentricities. they both know there's something off about them, they just want to see it with their own eyes.

I love ruri. I need her to be more brutal. I need her to be terrifying, and gruesome. I need her to have long sharp fangs that tear through flesh, bloodshot eyes that signal danger, and pointy claws that leave deep cuts. and I need her to stick her teeth inside kasuka's right wrist, or in the crook of his neck, until his body is twitching and shaking against his will. until he's weak and lightheaded. his heart beating faster than ever from the mixture between fear and euphoria. making ruri delighted with the taste of adrenaline that's filling her mouth. and despite the stabbing pain that she's subjecting him to, he loves her, he loves her, he loves her. and he loves being useful for her.

kasururi headcanons pt. 2
ruri is the official Jar Opener of the house. yes because she's strong af, but also because kasuka has weak hands. and even if she didnt have her powers, she'd still have to do it.
they have separate bedrooms and different sleeping schedules (ruri sleeps during the day and kasuka during the night). although they do try to sleep together most of the time, usually in kasuka's room since he's more used to sharing space with others.
at the very beginning of them starting to live together, since they're both so quiet, they would accidentally scare each other off constantly. (MOSTLY kasuka appearing out of nowhere and freaking the fuck out of ruri who is always very deep in thought.)
they both SUCK at cooking. but it is fine because they're rich and they dont need to do all of that.
on top of that, I also feel that they eat very differently. kasuka has a preference for plain simple meals, and ruri likes things with more spice and flavor.
non-verbal communication game is STRONG. some may think it's telepathy, others, autism.
cats (and felines in general) are kasuka's special interest. at first ruri's impression of this was "oh, he really likes cats. that's cute :)" and then after a few sessions of uninterrupted infodumping it was, "wow... he likes cats a lot"
monsters (and horror in general) are ruri's special interest. at first kasuka's impression of this was "wow, it is so interesting how knowledgeable she is on this subject." and then after a few sessions of uninterrupted infodumping it was, "alright... she likes horror movies a lot"
kasuka sneaks up movie quotes in real life conversations all the time, he thinks this is something normal to do and most people dont catch up on that. the issue is ruri has actually seen almost the same movies as him and she's always able to tell, and call him out.
kasuka didn't listen to ANY music before meeting ruri. and yes those first car rides were quiet and awkward as fuck. but since ruri started to be in charge of the aux, he finally developed a music tastes and yes, it is just all of ruri's favorite artists. (i can make a playlist of artists i think ruri would listen to if you ask very nicely)
