Under the Moonlight - Sequel to His Idol (Arulmozhi x Vanathi fic) Ft.Kundavai x Vanthiyathevan
Dedicating this to everyone in my PS writing taglist who enjoyed reading the previous fic and especially requested this next part. Love you all 💜
"Can Kamsa Mama refuse when Maya Kannan Himself asks?" Vanthiyathevan grinned at the Kodumbalur Ilavarasi, watching her grow more excited by the minute.
"So you will distract my Akka while I meet Ponniyin Selvare?" Vanathi asked once more, just to confirm.
Vanthiyathevan sighed," You are asking me to spend some alone time with my Ilavarasi. Did you really think I was going to say no?"
Vanathi was already out of earshot before he finished, whispering a quick thank you. Vanthiyathevan shaked his head in amusement. Although he had a soft corner for Poonguzhali in Arulmozhi's love triangle, he couldn't help but be won over by Vanathi's innocence and sincerity.
------------------------------------
Kundavai only relaxed when she reached her chambers after the Pooja at Durgai temple. Everything has been going just as she had planned. Everyone was happy. For a brief second she wondered about her Thambi and her Uyir Thozi. They were glancing at each other and whispering all through the Pooja. And she had never seen Arulmozhi so happy and Vanathi so flustered before. Did that meant they were actually coming close to each other just as she hoped? She sighed again. Oh! Kali Amma, let no one lay an evil eye over them. But where was Vanathi? The person who everyone calls her shadow has been missing since the Pooja. Where has she gone?
"I'll be glad if I'm the subject of your deep thinking Devi"
"Vanthiyatheva" She didn't try to hide the excitement in her tone and little did she knew the way his heart skipped a beat when he heard her say his name. " How come you are here?"
"We barely had time to meet before you were whisked away for the Pooja so I thought I'd come see you now. I heard you asking Ilavarase about our Eelam Expedition. I'd happy to tell you about our journey".
Kundavai loved to hear stories and for that moment she decided she would look for Vanathi later and entertain this versatile traveller now.
" Do come and tell me all about your adventure"
Halfway through the narration Kundavai began to be impatient. She felt Vanthiyathevan was unnecessarily prolonging the story by focusing on the minute details and characters.
"What happened next? You are elongating this too much. I have to go search for Vanathi after this" She said, exasperated.
"You don't have to worry about her Devi. She is in safe hands" Vanthiyathevan shrugged, thinking how to stretch his narration more.
He nearly missed Kundavai staring at him. "How are so sure that she is safe?"
"Ummmm" He cursed himself for the slip of tongue and tried racking his brain for a good enough excuse "That's not the point Devi, has anyone told you how much of a patient listener you are?" He settled for a compliment knowing fully well Kundavai isn't one to fall for praises so easily.
"You are the one who is deviating from the topic. Do you know something I don't?" Kundavai stared at him harder.
"How can I hide something in my heart when it is in your hands Devi?" Vanthiyathevan grinned widely. He loved to rile up his Ilavarasi.
'This man and his way with words' Kundavai wondered.
" How many ladies have you told this line to? " Although Kundavai's remark did caught him offhand, he wondered what she saw him as- just a teasing fellow or something more?
"Contrary to what you believe Ilavarasi, I do not encourage the feelings of those I do not have interest in. I am a devotee of beauty. That's all" Kundavai sensed his tone grow serious and wondered what she said wrong.
"What do you mean?"
" I have met many women during my travels. I've had marriage proposals presented to me. But no one has stayed in my mind for not more than a second thought. Would you like to know why? "
"Why?"
"Because I realised I have strong feelings for a certain someone right here in Chola Kingdom"
That was a shock to Kundavai. Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan - who even compliments the servant girls and soldiers on a daily basis, falling in love? But Kundavai realised that was not what was bothering her. What was bothering her was that she never imagined Vanthiyathevan to fall in love and get married. At least not to anyone else. Her growing feelings for the Vana clan prince was a secret she had kept from everyone, even from Vanathi although she had an inkling the Kodumbalur Ilavarasi guessed it somehow.
"Is she beautiful?" She couldn't help but ask as something bitter welled up inside her. What was it- Sadness? Anger? Jealousy?
" Not only is she beautiful but she is also witty, intelligent and independent that I was sure she was going to kick me out when I first tired to charm her. But fortunately for me she seemed amused"
A few names and faces flashed across Kundavai's mind. Nandini? No, he knows better than to court Pazhavur Ilayarani and his best friend's former lover. Vanathi? No, of course not. Or is it the boat girl Poonguzhali that she had heard him mention a couple of times?
"Are you trying to guess the person, devi?"
She looked at Vanthiyathevan who had a amused smile plastered on his face.
" No of course not. I was thinking about something else. But, just out of curiosity, how did you meet? " Now it was a challenge for her. She had to know who this lady love was.
He looked at his hands folded on his lap. " I was trying to escape Chinna Pazhuvettarayar's men when I stumbled onto Krishna Ashtami celebrations. I disguised myself as Kamsa Raja and joined the festivities so that I wouldn't be recognised. Amidst the performance, I noticed a young noble woman sitting in front of me, who was looking at me with curiosity and awe. I found myself unable to look away as well and secretly prided myself in being the object of her attention, even though the other performers were literally trying to turn my head the other way. After the performance, I was even more ecstatic that I got an opportunity to meet her, only to learn that she was none other than the person I came here to meet - the only daughter of emperor and my best friend's dear sister. She was quite opposite of what I imagined her to be - she seemed more proud of her intelligence than her beauty and her witty remarks surprised me. It not every day you see a woman get involved in Royal politics but she made it look like an easy task. When she asked me to bring her younger brother home, I was sure I have won her trust and at that moment I felt as if I can trust her for eternity too. I am a traveller and a landless prince, my kingdom is the sky above and the earth below, but when she said she would be waiting for me, I was gripped by a feeling that was unfamiliar to me. I was never afraid to die because I didn't had anything to lose. But at that moment I vowed to stay alive and complete the mission no matter what so that I can see her again.I declared my loyalty to her and she smiled again and I could see that she had full confidence that I'd succeed and we would meet again. All along the journey, I met several people but her face, her smile and her words stood out from them all and I realized that what I was feeling was not a mere infatuation but something more strong and intense, even when I was painfully aware of the differences between us. "
He could practically hear the wheels turning in Kundavai's mind as he spoke and the exact moment when realisation dawned on her. By the time he finished speaking her face was as red as the red fabric she was wearing. The formidable, hard-to-win-over Kundavai Nachiyar getting flustered, now that was a sight to behold.
Silence spread in the chamber and suddenly Vanthiyathevan realised something. What has he done? He came here to offer some company to her so that the Kodumbalur Ilavarasi can spend time with Ponniyin Selvan. He only planned to narrate a few stories or tell one or two jokes but never did he plan on revealing his feelings, solely because he didn't knew how she would respond.
"Forgive me, devi. I just spoke what came to my mind. You don't have to give a reply. Excuse me". Disheartened by the silence she continued to provide, he stood up and made his way to the door.
"Wait " Her voice echoed in the silent chamber
He turned around to see that she has also stood up and was now facing him.
"Vanthiyatheva, what is it that you say about a promise made by the Vana Clan?"
This was the last thing he expected her to ask " We never go back on our promise, devi" he said.
She took a step towards him " Long ago I met a Vana Clan prince who made me a promise and now I feel like he is going back on it"
He moved towards her, heart beating fast "What promise? "
Another step towards him.
"That his life belongs not to him, but to her"
They were standing close to each other, look of longing in both pair of eyes.
"Say it again" He sounded desperate but she didn't mind as she let out a breathy chuckle. She took his hands in hers and took a long breath before saying the words she always wanted to confess.
"You made a promise to me so let me make a promise to you too. These hands of mine, which are being held by yours, will never touch another man's hands ever"
Now it was Vanthiyathevan's turn to blush. He took their intertwined hands, touched it to his forehead and kissed the back of her left hand.
"Oh and I figured out the real reason you are here" she whispered and he looked up at her teasing glance.
"What did you found out?" He challenged her.
" You must be here to distract me. Now I don't know for what or for who but I'm guessing it's either for my Thambi or my Thozi. I don't know where Vanathi is but if you're saying she is safe then I trust you. But I'll find out when I catch her" She said, sure of her analysis.
'This woman and her brain ' He thought before saying out loud "Devi, don't tell your thozi you figured it out otherwise I'll lose my credibility "
They both burst out laughing.
----------------------------------
Meanwhile, in the palace garden
Vanathi didn't expect a secret rendezvous would be so difficult. Not only making sure that her Akka was occupied, she declared that she was so tired she was going to bed early so that none of the family members enquired after her. She quietly made her way to the gardens, hiding behind pillars whenever any servants or soldiers walked by so that no one reported her to her Akka. Finally she made it to her destination successfully and looked around for her yaanai paagan. She saw him stand a few feet away, his back turned to her, looking up at the moon with hands behind his back.
He must have been in very deep thought as he was startled when she called out to him.
"Vanathi" he said softly, holding his hand out to her. She took it and stood closer to him, neither knowing what to do next, just enjoying the sensation of gazing and smiling at the other. Soon, Arulmozhi took the initiative, moving forward to walk and they fell into a rhythm of silently walking down the garden path hand-in-hand.
"Vanathi" he said again, as though he was in love with her name " I don't know how to express my feelings wholeheartedly like my Anna, I don't even know how to charm my loved one like Vanthiyathevan no matter how hard he tried to teach me"
they both laughed at that
"But I know how important it is to let a person know how much they mean to you and that is what I'm trying to say. Let us put the past behind us and renew this relationship." He was about to say something more but hesitated.
" Trust and understanding are two fundamental factors for any kind of relationship Ponniyin Selvare" Vanathi said, squeezing his hand "You can share your troubles with me"
Reassured by her words, he said " You should know I have an innate fear that I'd get swallowed up by the royal politics that I wouldn't be a good ruler to my people. My other fear is that I won't be able to give you the same amount of love that you shower me with if I get consumed by my royal duties. These are my insecurities "
Vanathi was taken aback by how much anxiety lay behind his outward calm demeanor. She stopped walking and sat down on the grass below, dragging him down as well so both of them were sitting side-by-side.
"Ilavarase, it is completely fine to have insecurities but you shouldn't let them rule over your heart. You have a loving family, supportive friends and loyal men with you and your dedication to the crown will surely win you the people's hearts. And as for your other fear, keep doing what you're doing right now- open up to me and let us learn to trust and care for each other. That in itself will show me how much I mean to you"
Arulmozhi felt as if a huge burden has been lifted from his chest. He suddenly remembered something and pulled out a satchel from his angavastram.
"I've been meaning to give you this for some time now, consider this as a token of my love. " he opened the satchel and slipped a Ruby ring onto her finger.
"This is so beautiful! Now I feel bad I didn't get you any gift" Vanathi gushed and turned to him pouting.
" You are the greatest gift of my life"
" Vanthiyathevan taught you well"
"Hey! Why are you giving him so much credit? What I said now came from my heart"
He said in mock-annoyance which dissolved into a loving smile when Vanathi put her head on his shoulder.
-----------------------------
Thus, two love stories came to a sense of fulfillment with only the moon as their witness.

ECW Magazine: February 2000
FLIGHT OF RAVEN
Raven returns to ECW roost and brood about life
By S. Connor
RAVEN RETURNED TO EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING on Aug. 26 and shook the foundation of the promotion. At the first TNN taping at Elks Lodge in Queens, N.Y., he paired with longtime nemesis Tommy Dreamer and beat The Dudley Boyz to claim the ECW world tag team title.
In the following interview, Raven talks about his days in World Championship Wrestling, his childhood and his motivation for returning to ECW.
A CHILLING CHILDHOOD
Q. WHAT KIND OF CHILDHOOD DID YOU HAVE?
A. A miserable one. No one liked me. I was very unpopular and I was staved for attention because my dad never told me he loved me. I was extremely outgoing, loud and obnoxious just to get any kind of attention.
[Raven pulls Rhino off Tommy Dreamer]
Q. DO YOU HAVE ANY BROTHERS OR SISTERS?
A. I have an older sister but she had mental problems of her own. In fact she has emotional problems that are bad enough that she gets disability from the government. She also has very poor health problems, but she’s a great person.
Q. WAS THERE ANYTHING YOU COULD HAVE DONE TO MAKE YOUR CHILDHOOD BETTER?
A. I probably could have stopped picking on her and abusing her. I was embarrassed by her problems and I took it our on her. It wasn’t her fault she was that way, which left me with even more guilt for being cruel to her because I thought she was embarrassing me. It just snowballed.
Q. DO YOU BLAME THESE PROBLEMS ON YOUR PARENTS’ LACK OF ATTENTION?
A. Yes, complete lack of attention. I also have a fragile brain chemistry to begin with. My sister is actually unipolar. She’s just depressed. I’m bipolar, I’m manic/depressive. I needed more attention than your basic kid to begin with but i got less than your average person so it was a double whammy. My parents were so wrapped up in my sister’s problems they didn’t give me any attention. I had problems just as bad as her but apparently I hid behind an armor that was thick enough and it was such a good act that nobody saw though it. But they should have seen through it. They are my parents. My I.Q. was 143 and they should have realized how special i was. If not special, then I should have been treated like any normal person. I often envied kids that at least got beat by their parents. If they got beat, at least they knew that their parents cared. Mine were indifferent. Indifference is the greatest cruelty of all.
[Unlikely tag team: Tommy Dreamer and Raven]
ABOUT RINGMANSHIP
Q. HOW IMPORTANT ARE MICROPHONE SKILLS IN WRESTLING?
A. The greatest interviews in the history of the business were Mankind’s interviews as Cactus Jack in ECW. I don’t think anyone will ever cut promos better. Like a Seinfield episode, he went all over the place, but at the end the whole story came together in a neat little bundle. Cactus was always teaching you something. Austin is tremendous. In World Championship Wrestling, as far as charisma, I’m a big fan of Kannan. He is one of the most charismatic guys ever. Rey Mysterio Jr. is one of the greatest pure athletes I’ve ever seen in my life. In ECW, Axl Rotten is absolutely remarkable. Rotten can actuallt wrestle scientifically as smoothly and as well as anybody. If he dropped 30 pounds and Paul  Heyman [owner of ECW] have him a chance to really prove himself, all of a sudden you’d have a new major star.
WCW STRIKES OUT
Q. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR CAREER IN WCW?
A. I was never allowed in the “big 10” of WCW. I wasn’t popular enough and I didn’t get my shot. Anybody who truly has seen my work with an unjaded and uncynical eye would probably include me in the top 10. I haven’t drawn money in the major territories because I’ve never been in the position.
Q. SOME OF YOUR GIMMICKS: SCOTTY THE BODY, JOHNNY POLO, SCOTTY FLAMINGO. WERE THEY REALLY YOU?
A. Yes they were. I’m a manic depressive! Scotty the Body was a character I created. The World Wrestling Federation gave me Johnny Polo and Dusty Rhodes gave me Scotty Flamingo - offshoots of Scotty the Body, one of my original names. I wanted to be the most flamboyant, obnoxious, abrasive, loudmouth chickens—heel I could be because I knew it would give me the attention I craved. If i didn’t get the attention at home, I wanted the adulation of strangers. I found along the way it’s no substitute, but it does to an extent alleviate some of the anguish and pain. If you talk t the boys in the WCW locker room. Konnan, Saturn or Disco Inferno would say either I am the most moody pick on the planet to the most wise ass goofy bastard you ever met.
[‘My parents were so wrapped up in my sister’s problems they never have me any attention.’]
RAVEN-DREAMER SAGA LIVES ON
SINCE RAVEN RETURNED TO EXTREME CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ON AUG. 26, HIS LEGENDARY FEUD WITH TOMMY DREAMER HAS BEEN REVIVED.
AS KIDS, THE TWO WERE BEST FRIENDS UNTIL A GIRL NAMED BEULAH CAME BETWEEN THEM. DREAMER STOLE BEULAH FROM RAVEN, EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN”T REALLY WANT HER. WHEN SHE CAME BACK INTO THEIR LIVES IN ECW, OLD HATRED BETWEEN RAVEN AND DREAMER ROSE UP AND DROVE THE TWO TO FIGHT THEIR BATTLES IN THE RING.
DESPITE THEIR HATRED, THE TWO BECAME ECW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS WHEN RAVEN RETURNED TO THE FEDERATION ON AUG. 26. THROUGHOUT SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER OF 1999, DREAMER WAS BARELY ABLE TO DEFEND THE TITLE BECAUSE OF AN INJURED BACK. RAVEN ONLY INVOLVED HIMSELF IN THE MATCHES AT THE END TO ENSURE THE TWO UNLIKELY PARTNERS KEP TTHE TITLE. HOW LONG DREAMER AND RAVEN CAN CONTINUE IN THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL MANNER IS ANY FAN’S GUESS.
SUCKING UP?
Q. WHAT WERE YOUR DAYS LIKE BEHIND THE SCENES FOR WWF?
A. When i was working for Vince McMahon [owner of the WWF] as associate producer of RAW, Vince made me put on a suit and tie. It was killing me. As soon as I was done producing, the sh-t would come off and I would put on a pair of ripped up jeans, a pair of boots, a T-shirt and leather jacket. That’s who I am. Me and Shane McMahon became really good friends. I was an original member of the Mean Street Posse, because me, Shane, Rodney and Pete Gas used to hang out all the time. I think it’s kind of amusing that Raven’s actually a Mean Street Posse member and they all dress in their ivy league clothes. Me and Shane are really close friends. I can’t say anything bad about him. We used to hang out constantly. It was funny because all of the boys would say, “You’re just  sucking up to Shane so you can get over with Vince,” and it’s just the exact opposite. What would happen is I’d get total heat with Vince because I’d have Shane out all the time, back when I used to drink. I quit drinking two tyears ago. I had Shane out every night of the week partying and Vince thought I was a horrendous influence on his son.
[I’ve been to a couple psychologists.’]
BACK ON THE COUCH
Q. DID YOU EVER SEEK OUT HELP FOR YOUR PROBLEMS?
A. I’ve been to a couple psychologists. I found one phenomenal one who really helped me through my baggage. My father’s passing away recently - he was very ill so it was the best thing for him - took a lot of that baggage away. I don’t by any means glorify his death, but it enabled me to turn my life around.
Q. DESCRIBE RAVEN NOW COMPARED TO THE ONE WHO APPERED JAN. 8, 1995.
A. I came out in January 1995 as dark and as bleak and as miserable as one could possibly be. A lot of people say I left the character consume me, but what they don’t understand is it was already consuming me to begin with. I just found the forum to play it out. It was cathartic, it gave me release. By the same token, a lot of the negatives that accentuated it had a detrimental effect on me. It took a long while to work through all of that as well. What you see now is probably the most stable and happy I've ever been. Raven now is cruel, hateful and malicious, but bot as brooding and not as sullen. Fans will see a more sarcastic edge. Raven is 75 precent of the brooding bastard and 25 perfect of the glib, wise ass prick that Scotty the Body was.
FROM ECW TO WCW AND BACK AGAIN
Q. HOW DID YOU COME TO THE DECISION TO LEAVE ECW THE FIRST TIME?
A. I didn’t want to leave and to be honest, I begged Paul. I said, “Please, I don’t want to leave.” Eric Bischoff [then vice president of WCW] offered me a lot of money to go to WCW. Of course ECW’s pay scale has jumped since then, but at this time it was a very hefty contract. I begged Paul to give me half of what Bischoff offered, but he couldn’t he just didn’t have the money. I had to leave and it broke my heart. All the boys said, “You got to go.” Now that ECW is on national TV with the TNN deal, I’m like: “well, I cant let them go on national TV without me. I got to be there for it.”
Q. BUT DIDN’T BISCHOFF ASK YOU TO LEAVE WCW ON AUG. 23?
A. I didn't really have a choice. Bischoff called a meeting and said, “Raven, start working through our attorney outside. You’re not happy with the company so you can leave right now.” I said, “bye” and walked out the door. Later Eric said, “I think you should think this over, I think you should stay. What are you going to do, go work for Paul E.?” I said, ”No, I’m going to Vince.” He said, “You are not going to Vince.” I said, “You said I got a release. I would think that implies I could go wherever I want.” Eris said, “I’ll let you go to ECW but you can’t go to Vince.”
Q. HOW DO YOU GET ALONG WITH BISCHOFF NOW?
A. I like Eric a lot, I think he’s a great guy. I know there’s a lot of horror stories of how badly he treats all the wrestlers, but he’s always treated me with a lot of respect. He always made time for me.

Mayavan and Mayamohini
Nappinnai in Ponniyin Selvan. Read here.
Tumblr media
When Vanthiyathevan reaches Kadambur on the 18th day of Adi, people are celebrating the monsoon festival of Adi Perukku. But that year, there is something more special about Aadi Perukku.
Yes, today is the birth star of Andal. And it coincides with the eighteenth day of Adi, which is why there is such jubilation.
He starts dreaming about Krishnan, Andal pasurams and a death in the royal family even before he knows about the conspiracy, Nandini or her history.
A priest armed with a scimitar emerged from behind the statue of Kali, whose mouth was a gaping gash . . . “That means you’re unfit to be sacrificed. Go on, run,” said the priest. Kannan suddenly took Kali’s place. Two girls holding garlands danced in his shrine, singing Andal’s pasurams.
After this, Alwarkadiyan tells him about his sister Nandini and her extreme devotion. When Vanthiyathevan exhorts her to return to Krishna bhakti, she replies that she doesn't deserve it.
Then he goes to Pazhayarai to give Karikalan's message to Kundavai and people are celebrating another event there.
Aha! That’s what it is! It is Sri Krishna Jayanthi, Krishna’s birthday, that they are celebrating with such joy.
He sees and hears various songs, plays and even plays Kamsa in a street performance. Funnily, none of these are about the birth of baby Krishnan. Rather, all are about Mayavan (the Tamil equivalent of Mohana), the Great Enchanter.
Vanthiyathevan as Kamsa: Adel Krishna. Your magic won’t work with me. I am going to kill you right now. I am going to kill your brother Balarama. And your father Vasudeva too.
(Foreshadowing about Uncle Maduranthakan's Conspiracy and Pandya Murder conspiracy, together)
Kundavai's companions dancing to Aachiyar Kuravai (Nappinnai dancing with Krishna):
If that Mayavan [enchanter], Kannan, who once Used a calf sent to kill him :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: If that Mayavan who once Broke the tree which was but a demon
Another one:
The great Lord, Mayavan, who appeared as a god and clasped the entire world in his navel with its flowering lotus . . .
When Vanathi is lost in a song about a girl waiting for Kannan, Kundavai scolds her. We will revisit this later.
Initially one would think that this is about Vanthiyathevan's adventures but after Vanthiyathevan goes to Lanka with Arulmozhi's scroll, there are no notable mentions of the Great Enchanter until Karikalan makes an appearance again.
Nandini starts talking about Mayakkanan who enchants and disappears (see the post about Nappinnai for details). When Karikalan asks Manimegalai to sing non-religious love songs, she sings about another (secular) enchanter, moving Nandini to inconsolable tears.
Is that all a dream, my friend The time we spent together On the slopes of the mountain Besides the waterfalls Beneath the shadow of fruit-laden trees When he held my hand And we were both lost in happiness Is that all a dream, my friend Or just a thought in my mind?
In the grove of punnai trees Under the golden rays of the evening sun He called me near And whispered words of love In my ears Is that all a dream my friend Is that miracle nothing but a lie?
Defying all security Like a thief he walked in stealth And with boundless love Held me in embrace And smothered me with kisses Did it happen? Weren’t we happy? Is that all a dream, my friend Or just a thought in my mind?
If this one isn't enough, Kalki says that she sang multiple songs like this. Seriously, Manimegalai? 😤  And why is Nandini crying when she heard about some lovers making out in secret? Very fishy.
Rational Kundavai absolutely hates this enchanter aspect of Krishnan. When Vanathi is listening to such a song on Janmashtami, she scolds Vanathi and disses Mayavan.
Good Lord! And he came to Tamilnadu as our God! If he has been stealing butter, playing the flute and spending time with the women, where will he have time for other things in life? . . . Why are you so silent? Have you too become enchanted with Kannan’s flute?
She has the same opinion about her brother.
But now I have lost hope. Adithan is a great warrior. One of the most valiant men of our times. But he can’t keep his mind under his control.
This Greater Enchanter disappears from the novel after Karikalan's death. Nandini is frequently labelled as the enchantess, the Mohini. If Nandini is Mayamohini, then Karikalan is Mayavan. Though both accuse each other of enchanting them and disappearing, the irony is that Mayavan and Mayamohini aren't different - they are just two aspects of the same God.
N. B. Another person Aditha Karikalan is constantly compared to is Aravan, Mohini's husband. In Tamil versions of the Mahabharatam, by Peruntevanar and later by Villiputtur and Nallappillai, Arjunan's son Aravan offers himself as a sacrifice to Kali to ensure victory for the Pandavas. He asks for three boons before he dies, of which one is that he should be married before his death. Since no parent would give a daughter to one who is about to be killed, Krishna appears as Mohini and marries Aravan for a night.

Okay then for the ask game, let me think... We both know I was gonna give ya Kallus. Go!
Yeah I did know you were gonna ask me about him, that fine I'm happy to anyways!
First impression: well I was about 12 when I frist watched rebels and I kinda thought he was a big fat jerk. I thought his muttonchops were stupid.
Impression now: he's just a sad sleepy baby and I love him. He's a real bad ass and a /snarky son of a bitch/tm. All he ever really wanted to do was help people and it blew up spectacularly in his face and he didn't even realize. Also he's an excellent actor but has atrocious people skills. And his muttonchops are glorious.
Favorite moment: in "the Honorable ones" (*cough cough broke back mountain*) you can actually pin point the second he realizes he's in love with Zeb. It's just after the spectors leave and he leans against the wall to keep out of sight. You can actually see the gay panic on his face.
Story idea: Zeb meets the Lasat mercenary but he's so excited that there's another Lasat that he doesn't realize who he is. Kallus doesn't want to take away the opertunity to connect with another member of his species from Zeb so he just sits quietly in the back of the ghost definitely not having a panic attack until Ezra and Sabine find him. He doesn't want to worry them so they build a blanket fort together and get Kannan to go check on Zeb because even if he is with a lasat they're not going to just leave him alone with a dangerous murderer. Eventually Kallus is more scared for Zeb than he is for himself and he runs out to find him but he confronts the merc instead who eventually does recognize him. I'll eventually write the whole thing but that's it for now.
Unpopular opinion: Okay you're gonna hate me. He dies semi young, around early to mid 70s. Cause of death is heart failure due to decades of constant chronic stress.
Favorite relationship: Kalluzeb for life baby! Also love him being family with the spectors, him and Kannan bonding over growing up on Coruscant around the same time. I bet they both have *dad energy* when they hang out. They would both wear Hawaiian shirts and socks with sandels and rock out to Queen music. Of course Sabine would be super protective of Zeb and really not like Kallus hanging around him at first, but she warms up to him after she sees how much Zeb likes him. Then she starts to like him more than Zeb (but she only says that to tease him) Kallus calls her "his favorite" right infront of Zeb. He doesn't really get along with Rex at first. Every civilian on Coruscant during the war has a "complicated" opinion on the clones. Actually I'll just make a separate post for all of them.
Favorite headcannon: OH man how could I narrow it down to just one!? I can't, here's 3:
1. He has scars from the lasat merc that he's extremely self conscious about. He was terrified to show them to Zeb because he thought he would be seen as "damaged goods" or Zeb would think he got them on lasan and be reminded of what a terrible person he is.
2. When he was a teenager he was very good in school, always ambitious but also had a manageable but harmful substance abuse problem. He used to blackout drinking and get into bar fights almost every night, and got high every other night.
Someone: you know your future self is gonna hate you.
Young Kallus: jokes on that asshole, I'm gonna ruin his life.
3. He is a massive dork. He would love murder mystery novels, sings to himself as he cooks and talks to his pet tooka. One time he got a concussion because he sneezed and smacked his face against a wall.

Vader finds out Ezra is his kid during Twilight Apprentice?
(Ezra Skywalker AU)
Also love ur AU btw, but you do leave so spelling errors
Thanks for the compliments, you fuel my soul for one day more. Also yeah I have Dyslexia, I try to correct but I always seem to miss something.
Idk How Vader would find out, let's just put it up to force magic. It starts at the top of the temple, it just kinda clicks as Vader is threatening Ezra. Vader is mid sentence and just stops. After a few moments Ezra is like
"Uhhh Vader? Are you alrigth? Did you have a stroke?"
Meanwhile Vader/Anakin is struggling through his thoughts and emotions, he is
omg my and Padme’s child lived also I’ve already tried to kill him multiple times also he is so cute, he looks just like my mother also he made a saber gun such a talented boy
Ezra can feel the dark slipping from Vader and is even more confused. Ashoka feels this and is very excited and hopeful! Maul is confused how the ball of anger and hate warmed so fast and Kannan is confused as fuck.
Now there are two paths from here 1. Vader Redemption or 2. Vader stays his evil sith self.
I'll only be doing Vader redemption in this post
- Ashoka uses to force to jump/climb her way to Anakin who is on his knees in front of Ezra
- Anakin is having a full on breakdown because he thinks that his child could never love him with all the pain he has caused
- Ashoka just hugs Vader and he hugs back, Anakin just keep saying he is sorry and asking how anyone could love a monster like him
- Maul shows up and Vader grabs Ashoka and Ezra and they hop into his ty fighter
- Ezra is asking what is going on and Ashoka is kinda confused about why Anakin hasn’t let them both go (By this I mean he picked them up but once they got in the ty he still didn’t put them down)
- Vader says “Mine and Padme’s child lived, I didn’t kill them... Ezra I am your father”
- Ashoka takes a closer look and yep can confirm Ezra looks like Padme’s and Anakin’s child in all the tiny detials
- Ezra is shocked and even more so when he finds out Vader can't live without his suit
- long story short Vader becomes Fulkrum (Kallus also become Fulkrum don't worry)

Hi, I am an historian working at Shiv Nadar University, and curently exploring the topic of women and cycling in India before the 1980s. I came across the picture posted here- Udaipur, 1976. I was wondering if you would be willing to respond to my research questionnaire. It has been a herculean task finding photos of women cycling! Any help is much appreciated. Best wishes, Divya Kannan
Hi there sure yes, if you are still working on it. My email is [email protected]. Or if you prefer to message on instagram https://www.instagram.com/vintageindianclothing/
I thought there were a fair few cycle ads like for Atlas?
A lot of movies back then featured cycling women - I think Khazanchi (1941) was one of the first.
Yes its difficult to get hires pictures.

Okay this is probably just some mad star wars rambling and heads up in advanced cause
THIS WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM OBIWAN EPISODE 3
You have been warned!
So a thought just occured to me that when order 66 made everything in the star wars universe go all sorts of crazy and the Jedi were scattered all over that there were probably Jedi on the worlds Mandalorians and as we see in Episode 3 of the Kenobi series that there was a pathway that those that support the Jedi use to take them to safety.
Now you're probably wondering what those two things have in common.
Well my little headcannon is simple. A section of the path may have gone through Mandalore, and thanks to what Ashoka did to help the Mandalorians in the clone wars with taking care of Maul a splinter group could have been born from the remnants of Death Watch (that stayed loyal to Bo-Katan) of Mandalorian warriors that over saw this path and the safe travel of those who use it.
Now they could tell people that they guarded the path which could have turned into a new phrase. One we see a group of religious Mandalorians use quite often.
Tumblr media
(for those that the gif won't load for It's Din Djarin from The Mandalorian and the caption on it says this is the way)
That phrase could mean that not only do they follow the old codes of Mandalorian law but that they also oversaw an piece of the escape path that many used but was lost when Mandalore fell and then they themselves had to go into hiding.
This could be why the Mandalorians in Din's faction didn't immediately want to kill Grogu (other than him being so cute and their honor) Almost any other point in star wars history I don't think a Mandalorian would have thought twice about killing a Jedi except for two reasons 1) they need a Jedi to take out a threat that they couldn't take out on their own (example Maul and Savage taking over Mandalore) or if a Jedi has proven themselves a friend of Mandalore (example Kannan from Rebels).
Grogu does neither of those things and if anything he puts all Mandalorians (not just the ones in Din's clan) at a higher risk especially after his rescue. But instead of killing him and making their lives easier Din is given a quest to return him to his people. For it is the way. Possibly implying that Mandalorians have helped Jedi before.
But that's just my headcannon. Would love to hear what other people think about this.

Half is Nice! The$ 215, 000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix CSI 4* is won by McLain Ward and Contagious.
Wellington, Florida, USA &nbsp, – March 17, 2024– U. Ș. Olympic team gold medalist Mclain Ward won his second feature of the week in the$ 215, 000 Horseware Ireland Grand Prix CSI 4* during the Winter Equestrian Festival‘s ( WEF ) ‘ Saturday Night Lights’ at Wellington International. Contagious, a 15-year-old Rhinelander horse owned by Beechwood Stables, Ied the victory speed aboard Ward, who also won crew gold at the Tokyo Olympics and ȿtaff gold at the Pan Aɱerican Games in Chile last summer. &nbsp,
McLain Ward ( USA ) &amp, Contagious
Ward was elated with the seasoned gelding’s performance, noting, Contagious ( Contagio x For Keeps ) has been a great partner and I’m very grateful to Beachwood and Lise Revers for having the horse be with me for his whole career. He’s getting older now αnd it’s a little more work, but he’s got a big heart. &nbsp,
He’s had a bit of four- fault- itis around in Florida, two great grands prix with one down, but I felt that he’d jump well now. ” We continued Ward, who jumped final in both sessions,” “it was a very hot day and a quick return for us. ” Because I did n’t want to let him bottom out, I only jumped three jumps in the classroom. We were fortunate to come in last thanks to him digging in serious.
Nicola Philippaerts ( BEL ) &amp, Derby de Riverland
Only three horses jumped clear over Oscar Soberon’s ( USA ) challenging track. Lμcy Davis, a silver medalist for the U. Ș. Olympic team, led the charge with new mount Ben 431 before Belgium’s Nicola Philippaerts ( BEL ) joined Derby de Riverland and Ward from final draw. Ward’s bounce- off occasion of 43. 24 hours handed him the win over Philippaerts in 44. 19 hours. Davis made a second decision after pulling a road in the little couɾse. &nbsp,
Of the difficult track, Ward recalled”, When I walked, I thought the jumps were placed so you could n’t get quite straight and were always coming in at a bit of an angle. Ironically enough, you had two really suffered horses go clear. Nicola’s horse is a younger horse but extremely talented and ⱨe’s a very good horse. I thought there’d be a few more clear, but it proved to be challenging and the time]allowed ] was just enough to force mistakes.
McLain Ward ( USA ) &amp, Contagious
” You can have a small brush, have four faults and be very disappointed, or if that same road stays up, you win the grand prix and you’re a hero”, said Ward of his struggle for top ends at the season’s nearby. It’s a good line, but I’m appreciative of the horses and the ability to retain pounding mind with these users.
Ward is coming off a solid start ƫo thȩ season as he prepares for Olympic qualification this spring and rides a brilliant line of horses. ” Our emphasis is on Paris. Callas is undoubtedly on the radar because she still has a lot to prove, but I believe Contagious is a little longer in the makings for another final. We have an interesting new animal, Ilex, that we thiȵk can do amazing things. We have a dozen alternatives, and we hαve a strategy for each of them that will help us geƫ to Paris in the best possible way. We hope ƫo win another medal and join the team.
Nicola Philippaerts ( BEL ) &amp, Derby de Riverland
Jumping off just before Ward, Philippaerts left everything he had in the ring and was thrilled with Derby de Riverland, an 11- season- old Selle Français horse ( Kannan x L’Arc de Triomphe ) owned by Team Philippaerts and Pierre Cimolai.
” He is a fantastic horse”, said Philippaerts, who tooƙ oⱱer the reins halfway through 2023 after the mountain was piloted by his younger brother. At thȩ 2022 Western Championships for Young Riders in Oliva, Spain, Thibault Philippaerts produced the horse and climbed the divisions.
Nicola Philippaerts ( BEL ) &amp, Derby de Riverland
” He’s really careful and I think he improved a lot this year here in Wellington”, continued Nicola. It aided in his growth, and it shows that he is prepared for higher ranking now. You often try to win, of course, but Mclain is quite diffiçult to defeat. I tried it out, and he did excellent jumping, but I believe the best horse-rider combo prevailed today.
Lucy Davis ( USA ) &amp, Ben 431
Ben 431 was acquired by Davis in December, aȵd the wintertime trip to Florida has ǥiven him a focus on his Olympic certification targets. Ben 431, a 13- time Westphalian horse ( Sylvian x Quincy Jones ) is owned by Old Oak Group and has collected plaudits from around the world with Germany’s Gerrit Nieberg, including a gain in the 2022 Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen.
Lucy Davis ( USA ) &amp, Ben 431
After a split from foreign competition over the past few months, Ɗavis was back in the spirit oƒ Wellington’s” Saturday Night Lights” and soaking up the spotlight. ” I’m really happy to be back in it”, she said. ” It’s day by day with a new horse, and it started out well at a lower amount. You can learn, craft, and adjust while making faults, in my opinion. Even though sometimes the results in some rounds are n’t always what you want, there is still something you can do to improve, and tonight we finally felt like one. I’m excited for the future with this horses”.
Ward even received the Martha Jolicoeur Major International Rider Award, presented together with Michael and Wendy Smith, in the Adequan® WEF problem Cup tournament on Thursday on First Lady.

VALPOGOSSIP TEACAP: FEBRUARY 2024
You lot sure have be busy the last few months. If I was of lesser mind or simply someone with something better to do, I would have resigned myself to my silence and let you all carry on. But business pays. And unfortunately for you, it's yours that pays me, and you're all not going to believe this.
Resident weirdo Drew Crane up and abandons his life in New York to follow everyone's sleep paralysis demon Luna Dominguez-Herrera after she ( rightfully ? ) dumped him. He claims it was because he was tricked by the leader of the unemployed, Rafael Cisneros. But Rafa couldn't talk himself out of charges, I doubt he's convincing anyone of anything. But don't worry Drew, you're not the only one who came to Chile in the pursuits of love but you do seem to be the only one who was successful. Congrats ( ? ) on winning ( ? ) Wednesday back even if you got kicked out of the apartment in the process !
The same can't be said for Nikhil Hari. Rumor has it he was catfished? I'm not buying it. Just like Drew, I think it's a fabricated story he put together to get our resident it girl, Carmen Hernandez, to not be weirded out by his showing up in her new city. Though, when it comes to girls who look like Carmen, who can fault him for being willing to cross seas, mountains, and rivers to be with her. Then, of course, maybe there's someone else who may be seeing this as well.
Omar Osei seemingly leaves his apartment for the first time in his life I guess ? This sighting was pretty week, but considering the man never has any sightings because he's a hermit who doesn't stop outside his apartment, ever, we think there's some merit in the dancing showcase him and Carmen shared. Thank god too, there had to be something beyond that DND group.
Moving on, Omar isn't the only hermit finally making his way out of the house. Gabriel Naisanga is also making his rounds ( and we do me around and around ) with Kala Kannan. The two of them fight more than Lin Wickwar only there are no winners here. And no. Not even me. It seems all Gabriel has to do is breathe oddly and Kala is ready to start a fight. I guess we can't entirely blame the girl, how long does one need to get over a wife ? We all want love don't we ? However, we do find it interesting that while Gabriel is currently only romantically ( ? ) involved with Kala ( a shame, sharing is caring ); he's not the only one she's romantically ( ? ) involved with ( good for her ! ).
Rumor wheel has it that she and Leon Amos hooked up rather quickly ( no shame ) upon his arrival. According to Leon, it doesn't take long at all to get over a wife ? fiance ? What does it matter, he learned the cardinal rule the fastest way to get over one person is to get under someone else ! And we support him on this journey. Though, maybe the journey can conclude its side quests of giving Drew weed brownies ? Just a thought. Perhaps these two were just a one and done, only time will tell. But I've heard reports the Kala has her eye set on another ( and no, it's not Gabriel ).
Adem Kartal, our beloved father. While Kala seems to be shooting heart eyes to him, sources say he's shooting heart eyes at Sariyah Carter. Guess you can claim not to be best friends as much as you want, but the similarities will always remain. Though, I guess if you ask Sariyah, she doesn't think Kala ever thought of her as a friend. Guess Sariyah can hold a grudge. They always said nothing hurts like a best friend break up, but everyone needs their best friend.
Luna and Carmen would know best, as Carmen came to swift conclusion that Jelena Lucas was after their boyfriend ( ? ) The more delusional the friends the more powerful the friendship.
Suppose Arlo Hwang would know a little bit about that as well. Using the time while his roommate, Alba Ocha, was out drooling and/or moping about their ex, Milani Lennox, he snuck Jamie Sokolov in to live with the two of them. Talk about Threes A Company.
That's all I have for now. It's not enough for me personally, so I'm advocating for you all to do even more ! Don't think you're safe just because you weren't mentioned. To Kaia, Manu, Marisa, Charlie, Aviva, Nora, Ravneer, Victor, Askel, Minnie, Itzel, Matty, Esteban, Aivryn, Leia, and Sofia; we're all still watching.

Well well if it isn’t the foreshadowing of the clone rebellion on kamino we’re witnessing (is it? IS IT??? Please be it).
No but really, are you actually planning on writing this kind of ending or you’re sticking to the canon?
Anyway im having a lot of thoughts, most of them are AGAFAGGAZGAVAVAVVAAGHAVSVSSVS I LOVE IT. IT WAS SO CUTE AND THEN GOT SO FREAKING SAD AND THEN GOT CUTE AGAIN AND THEN THE PLOT TWIST????? ALPHA PLANNING A COUP RIGHT UNDER THE LONG NECK’S NOSES HELLO????? BRILLIANT
Also
DID REX OFFICIALLY ADOPT AHSOKA MANDO STYLE ???? Did the rest of the torrent do the same omfg they’re literally family 🥹🥹🥹
Rex trying to keep teenage cadets away from Ashoka is both cute and hilarious. He is such a dad.. ahem… brother material 👀
And I absolutely love the way you characterized Shaak Ti. Everyone always portray her as this wise Jedi that cares about the clones just like Plo Koon. And that’s true to some extent but she is so wrong for sitting in her own bubble and refusing to see the way kaminoans and trainers abuse them. She's a kind soul and means well but she totally lacks critical thinking. (but also yeah I would love to see her finally being able to adopt a few baby clones and raise them as her own sons. Such a touching moment it was, right until the aiwha baits ruined it that is)
And Kamino being compared to the eye of the storm is such a poetry honestly yk it rhymes
In conclusion, wonderful chapter as usual.
Okay. So much happened this chapter. Let me bullet point my response.
I likely won't get around to writing a clone rebellion in SH, though one is definitely planned for ASOI. I just can't see the war ended (without the empire's rise) and there nit being a clone uprising. But yeah ask me about that for ASOI and I might tell you my plans.
Yes, Rex officially adopted Ahsoka previously in SH. Off-screen. He knows her name as his sister and all that. I chose Rex partially because he's more traditional and sentimental than a lot of her other brothers. Kix has also said the vows but the rest of Torrent didn't feel the need to. They heard that Rex adopted her and basically went,"Sister? Ah ok, sister." *vigorous nodding*
I don't like to focus too much on Ahsoka's relationships with boys, but also y'know everyone (within age or developmental range) had a crush on her during the war. Cal, Kannan, Lux, Korkie, some clone cadets. She's just a pretty girl. But yeah no Rex overheard like one remark about her and moved an entire class and had them running laps for hours. He does not play.
He is absolutely her Dad-ish in the beginning. They develop a more on par relationship as she grows up and then eventually he fully relinquishes social rank to her. IE not being her elder anymore. But the whole Brothers raising brothers, line was the most important from that section.
Shaak Ti is traumatized and depressed. That's what this is. The Jedi never should have been in a war. That's it. And trying to run a war when you're completely unqualified hurts everyone. Which isn't to say they have a lot of choice. Realistically if she stood up one day and decided that the Kaminoans needed to surrender all of the clones to the jedi and stop producing them she'd be removed from her station and ignored. There's really nothing she can do. And she knows it. Which is why she lives with her hands over her "ears". Because if she just holds on and does a little good every day maybe she can actually change something one day. (the pessimistic view being it's futile in the face of the rising empire of which she's an active participant in building.) (and the more optimistic AU view being that Ahsoka succeeds in ASOI and the clones go free but they have to unpack their abuse in a plee for citizenship forcing the galaxy to realize what Kamino did and what Shaak participated in. Likely resulting in her retirement.) either way not pleasant for her.
Maybe she does end up with some sons, depending in which older clones decide they want to ally with her. It's all gonna be communal raising of the children.
The whole theme of this arc was really that there is no peace in war. So long as the storm rages you'll always have to step back into it. Only by pushing through to the other side can you escape it. But yeah I put SO much effort into the environmental symbolism. I was planning this for months before I started writing it.
So thank you so much for the ask and for reading the latest chapters. I had a blast writing them. Fingers crossed no one is too mad about my characterization of Shaak, I guess we'll find out.

June 12th Kiyomizu temple/ Gion
The theme of these past few days has been let Kyoto cook and cook it has, Kyoto has us going to a lot of temples and shrines and that trend continues today as we go to Kiyomizu temple which is a huge temple on a mountainside. At first glance as we make our way towards the temple the Kyoto streets are lined with Kimono rental places which I hope and pray to god that we are able to do because I couldn't help but admire every kimono as we passed by. They looked super dope. In this temple there were three fabled streams which came from pure water and it is said that those who drink from it excelled in the area the stream dictated, the three were romance, successes in business or academics, and longevity. The gimmick of this place however is that you have no clue which is which so you have to choose blindly and hope it's what you want. Knowing myself I definitely picked right, now as to what that entails I’ll guess we shall just wait and see. After that we kept waffling on until the womb of the Kannan God opened and we could go inside and be reborn. It was a pitch black room with nothing but a rope on the edge of the room to hold on to for support and you make your way to a glowing stone that once you rub you become reborn again having passed through the womb of the god of renewal. The next part of the day was the best one as we were led to a long street filled with different food shops and vendors and the smells of this place aggravated everyone's appetite. We broke for lunch where I had fried chicken on a stick, cucumber on a stick and a chocolate croissant that were all pretty good. Since we split up and then found each other again Xander, Eliza and I had our own mini adventure which was interesting because in a group of three no one was decisive enough to push for anything ( we all just like to get led to different places which has its benefits and negatives for sure). As we stumbled about we ended up finding the tomb of the unknown soldier for Japanese soldiers and soldiers around the world. Surprisingly hard to miss as there was an 80 foot buddha statue outside of it and the whole layout of the place was absolutely stunning. What we originally thought to be a nationalist remembrance for the Japanese soldiers that died in world war II ended up being a sweet gesture by the Japanese to strive for world peace as they honor the soldiers of all different countries. When we broke up later Raj finally did his thing and took us to a rooftop bar which was also very scenic and gorgeous combining the modern with the classic. We also may have gone out that night as well… but we had a huge group and even old man Sebastian went with us. How could we not!! Overall one of my favorite days of the trip so far.
Academic reflection
As far as the readings go this one dealt a lot with what geishas were and how their role has changed over time starting from the equivalent of jesters or entertainers to ones responsible for preserving Japan’s ancient creative arts. They also tended to have a more sexual aspect back then as  they were made pretty with makeup and were hired to entertain rich men with a dance or two than you can guess what might’ve happened next. Nowadays they are trained rigorously in certain Japanese rituals and we were able to experience that preservation first hand at a theater. Some of them include the tea ceremony or chanoyu, one was a slapstick comedy kind of the style like Charlie Chaplin.
Also in our readings the theme of Karma and the idea of a next life was very prevalent. As some of the Japanese believe that what we do in this life directly affects what we get reborn as in the next life. That is why it is important to pray to the renewal god Kannan and even do certain things like traverse the womb that I talked about in the previous section. These rituals are important because the hope is to eventually escape the cycle of suffering that is life and enter into Nirvana.

Meenakshi Thirukalyanam
Read all chapters in Wattpad
Tumblr media
"Aiyyo, aiyyo, Enperumane, my daughter has become a lunatic and my son started to worship Chudalamadan! It's his luck that my esteemed husband joined your lotus feet before he had to witness any of this. I should have joined him in his pyre."
Amma has been crying since morning. Nandini and Thirumalai tried to console her but she wasn't having any of it. Nandini declaring that she is married to Kannan like Andal was the first shock. Some of her neighbours murmured that the girl is mad. Some said that they always knew that Nandini had divinity within her. Akka quietly left last week, knowing that trying to force Nandini will be a futile attempt.
When annan said that he is going on a pilgrimage and invited her to join him, she was ecstatic. They planned to send amma to akka's home. Akka, athimber, periyappa and periyamma will be happy, a change of place will be good for Amma and Nandini won't have to deal with the prying glance of neighbours.
Though Amma was apprehensive about sending her unmarried grown up girl to wander around, she too thought that it is a good arrangement as she knew that Nandini could be stubborn when she wanted. But all plans fell apart when Annan declared that they are going to witness Meenakshi Kalyanam at Madurai.
"Amma, is it wrong to attend the marriage festivities of Alagar's sister?"
"Shut up! Why do you want to go when Alagar wasn't welcomed? By this rate, you two will be covered in chambal when you come back".
"I am already married to Kannan. So Madurai Meenakshi is my sister-in-law. Isn't it, anna?"
"Yes, yes. We all are family".
Frankly, Nandini too was astonished by Annan's initiative to attend the Saivite festival. She was reminded of a princess who would have been her sister-in-law in another life. A fierce princess with long eyes like Madurai Meenakshi. She felt uneasy. "Amma, I am going to check in on Gnanam akka's sister. She is down with fever", she didn't wait to hear their reply.
When she returned, Nandini overheard Amma scolding Annan for taking Nandini to a marriage festival. But annan reassured her that he always knew that Nandini is the next Andal and all this has been a divine coincidence. Also what if this visit turns out to be auspicious and she decides to get married?
"Do you men have any sense, idiot?", she placed her hands on her ears and closed her eyes. "Thirumalai, take me to your sister's home. I don't want to see or hear any of this. My poor child!".
•---------------•
The streets of Madurai reminded her of Pazhayarai. She saw people selling flowers, sandalwood, incense sticks, coconuts, betel leaves, camphor, bananas, ghee, etc. They first went to Pazhayarai on a Margazhi tiruvizha. Why are her eyes welling up? It is this heat and dust. She got used to the serenity of their village.
Annan waved at Pasupati Bhattar, their distant cousin. Nandini has never heard of this cousin. But then, they went to the Chola country when she was pretty small. Bhattar's wife Sivagami and two little sons instantly took a liking to Nandini. The boys reminded her of Ponniyin Selvan and kutti sithappan. Stop. Won't she get a respite from these thoughts, ever? Watch the festival.
They went to Bhattar's home after witnessing the festivities. Annan and Bhattar went out with their friends and Nandini visited the temple with Sivagami and the boys. She remembered the story of Sembiyan Madevi. She too was totally enamoured with Parameswaran when Kandarathithar met her and married her. These ladies dedicated themselves to Parameshwaran and he made sure that they'd have a good life.
Is her misfortune a punishment for loving a man more than Perumal? Will she ever get salvation from this misery? If Meenakshi was the daughter of a poor priest instead of the Pandya King Malayadhwajan, would Sundareshan have come down from Kailasam to marry her?
Nandini insisted that they should visit the Meenakshi temple again before returning. But annan didn't show any interest. What happened to him? Why did he come all the way to Madurai if he didn't want to pray to the goddess? Pasupati Bhattar whispered something in his ears. Nandini saw his expression changing from amusement to determination. He told her that they'd stay there one more day and visit the temple on the next day.
•---------------• Nandini felt an inexplicable happiness after spending sometime inside the temple complex. Why doesn't Annan too come inside? Hasn't he come all the way to Madurai? Annan asked her to meet him near the entrance exactly after 40 vinazhigai. If he doesn't come back after 50 vinazhigai, hire a bullock cart and go to Pasupati's home. He had given her a few coins and a palm leaf with directions.
He saw one of his old friends, it seems. If that Vaishnavite too is visiting the Meenakshi Kovil, what's the problem? Nandini didn't understand. But annan disappeared into the crowd. Suddenly she heard blows of conch shells and beating of drums. A small procession with the royal fish standard approached the temple.
"The Fierce Warrior, the Bravest of the Brave, the vanquisher of the Chola Army, the one who took the head of  Kodumbaloor Bhooti Parakrama Kesari, the sword and shield of Veera Pandyan who took the head of the Cholan, the leader of the Thennavan Apattudavigal, Ravidasan Panchavan Brahmadhirajan is arriving. Make way, make way." Isn't Parakraman the chieftain Sundara Cholan sent to Lanka? Did he too die? Nandini saw a very majestic men alighting from an elephant. He had long hair which was tied into a neat bun and handlebar moustache. He was wearing gold and pearl ornaments, white veshti with golden trimmings and a blue shawl with intricate golden patterns of some beautiful fish. This must be Ravidasan. Some temple authorities welcomed him and he prostrated on the ground when he entered the royal complex. Isn't he an enemy of Cholas? Will he harm Aditha Karikalan in battle, like he took the he...? Nandini felt like life left her body. No, such inauspicious things can't and won't happen. She is just overthinking. Suddenly someone grabbed Nandini's hands and ran. She panicked but it was only Thirumalai annan.
"Did your friend see you, Anna?"
"No, kanne. My luck."
"You both are Kalla Vaishnavites".
"Maybe, wasn't our Ambadikannan too a kallan?", both giggled. She saw annan giving two palm leaves to someone. "Love letters for my girlfriends", he winked. She knew that he was joking. If he wanted to tell her, he would have told her already. What is he really doing?
Meenakshi Thirukalyanam - An annual wedding celebration in the city of Madurai. As per the legend, Meenakshi, an avatar of Parvati, was the daughter of  Malayadhwaja Pandian and Kanchanamala. Meenakshi conquers the whole world and falls in love with Siva. Siva comes down to Madurai as Sundaresan and marries Meenakshi. Lord Vishnu in the form of Alagar is considered the brother of Meenakshi. Sundaresan gives him the wrong date. He gives the gifts he brought to the couple but goes back without entering the Madurai city. Earlier, Meenakshi Kalyanam and Azhagar Tiruvila were conducted seperately but they were combined into one festival during the reign of Tirumala Nayakas in 17th c.
Enperumane - My Supreme Lord Chudalamadan - One who lives in graveyards, an aspect of Lord Siva Chambal- Ashes Alagar - Vishnu, Sundareshan- Siva. Both mean "handsome one".
Author's note: I wanted to introduce Pandyas as the royal people they were. In the novel they are insane wandering barbarians. I am just showing that they have seen better days.
Pandya kingdom is very ancient, mentioned even in Mahabharata. It was a centre of arts, crafts and learning. The kingdom was very prosperous too. Pearls of Pandya country were world famous, that's why Ravidasan is wearing a lot of pearls.

HELL'S HALF ACRE – Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Terror Films
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS:  “Marcus leads his group of young urban explorers Jessie, Dan, Jose and Cassie to abandoned locations for their popular YouTube channel Strange and Abandoned Places with the goal of gaining ratings and paid sponsors. They quickly discover that the abandoned Rockland Heights Prison is unlike any other location they've ever been to before as strange things begin to occur almost immediately after their arrival. They discover they're not alone as it becomes a fight for their survival against terrifying and dangerous paranormal entities.”
REVIEW: I’m going to make this brief.
HELL'S HALF ACRE has some nice production values. Great location. Solid special and visual effects. A satisfying score and some okay metal tunes by the band VORE. I thought the demons’ prison jumpsuits could have been stressed as they looked too new.
The cast is not bad, just not great. The supporting cast seems a bit stronger than the principles, and the two villains don’t have much to do other than look menacing and chase the principles. It felt like the principle cast did receive a lot of direction. Case in point, the cameras they’re caring around are handled without any familiarity or skill, and treated more like flashlights. I really could believe they were live streaming anything.
The plot is an okay idea, but there’s nothing we haven’t seen before. The story feels like it has three endings, the last totally gratuitous. The dialogue is horrendous. I was hoping that Joel and the robots would show up to tackle the film. The dialogue is horrendous. I’m not sure if they did a read through, but it could have helped to tighten it up.
HELL'S HALF ACRE seems like John Patrick Tomasek is a Scooby-doo and horror fan. At times I wasn't sure if he was trying to be funny or dramatic. The film feels like one of the homegrown horror films submitted to genre festivals back in the 90’s. While the production values are superior to the films of that period, the screenplay is just as raw. If you view the film with a sense of humor it goes down much easier.
CAST: Quinn Nehr, Brynn Beveridge, Omar Vega Jr., James Matthew Fuller, Amanda Buhs, Anthony Pape, and Gary Soumar. CREW: Director/Screenplay/Producer - John Patrick Tomasek; Producers - Jennie Devries, Robert Izquierdo, Michael Rickert and David Michael Ross; Cinematographers - Alex Halstead & Luis Treviño; Score - Ramesh Kumar Kannan; Editors - Kyle Delso & Brandon Grode; Production Designers - Daniel Darmoni & Chris Stopka; Costume Designer - Jennie Devries; Special Effects Supervisor - Zach Elston; Visual Effects Supervisors - Kyle Delso & Brandon Grode. Absolutely Random Star Wars AU
Made with Wheel Spin:
Reble Crew
Poilet/Leader: Thrawn
Brawler/Figther: Rex
Gunder/Mechanic: Anakin
Jedi/Force user: Hera
Team Son/Daugther: Ezra
Droid: R2D2
Imperials
Leader: Obi-Wan
2nd: Leia
Mad Scinisteist: Sabine
Goon 1: Zeb
Goon 2: Han Solo
Future Traitor: Chopper
Inquisitor/Sith: Kallus
Droid: C3-PO
Others
Fulkerum: Maul
Not Imp Sith: Luke
Pirate: Ashoka
Exiled Jedi: Mace
Force Ghost: Kannan
New Mandalore: Cody
Bounty Hunter: Chewbacca
Thoughts:
This ghost/rebel crew is a freaking mess! Thraw is leading which means the crew has to deal with regular art exertions and the blue man rarely explains his plans! I assume Anakin just kinda shows up on Thrawn's doorstep after Order 66 with Rex and R2 and Thrawn just decided to help him overthrow the government.
Since Kannan is a ghost and Hera is a Jedi... FORCE GHOST ROMANCE TIME BOISS!! Kannan dies in order 66 despite Depa's best efforts but he sticks around for... reasons idk. He meets Hera who is force sensitive in this AU and I assume he tries to teach her how to be a Jedi. They end up falling in love, despite Kannan being dead.
Maybe Kannan is still the one who finds Ezra, he is still meant to be the boy's master but the kid can't see him yet. So he calls Hera who helps him adopt his son. Of course, Thrawn, Anakin and Rex are also space dads.
OMG Evil Obi with Evil Leia holy shit. Obi-Wan is a Sith with Leia as his apprentice, if Mustafar happens he probably thinks Anakin is dead so he raises Luke and Leia. Palps is probably dead as well since Obi is a Sith. Since Luke is a rogue Sith I assume he bailed on the empire because he is a good boy. He is probably trying to be a Jedi but he has zero clue how to or what it means to be a Jedi.
Sabine and Leia are evil BFFs(Or gfs) and I love them for it. Zeb and Kallus are also gay and evil. Ashoka joins Hondo's crew, Maul is being a sneaky bastard helping the rebellion, and Cody is a king! Somehow I imagine this Mandalore is the most functional we've seen in a while. Chewy and Han are still friends I imagine, even though ones are an imp and the other is a bounty hunter. Mace is a depressed Grandpa who is very happy to find out he got a great-grand padawan and is less happy when he finds out Skywalker has 25% Custody.
All that not even mentioning the drama between the Skywalker twins feeling like they got replaced by Ezra. Anakin being that Obi took the kids and Obi-wan just wants them all to be a happy family(Yes even the ghost crew). This would be wild!
