Just finished my reread of the manga (that I started like 3 years ago...) and I swear I knew the ending was going to be sad but...

It was worse than I remembered T.T

The last few chapters were just a rollercoaster of emotions and it was worse because I knew how everything was going to end.

Something cool, though, was that I could finally understand how Akashi and Ushimitsu beat Male-Female in the card game.

Before Percy, Jason, and Nico, I had these three demented boys give me life as they play the game of death. Ushimitsu Kiyoshiro, Amaya Takeru, and Takahata Shun. "Kamisama no Iutoori" and "Kamisama no Iutoori Ni". "As the Gods Will" and "As the Gods Will II" respectively. I recommend giving this a read, I'd say this was better than The King's Game.

Honorable mention to Higashihama Tasuku. You should have been a God---

Kamisama no iutoori ni definitely is one of the best manga I've ever read. These two boys hit me right in the feels 😭 The way they look at each other, the way they interact, all the words they said (that stuff about being each other's light, the fact that Akashi lost his memories about Ushimitsu like, almost the last, cause they were too precious for him).

Literary, my OTP.

I wholeheartedly wish that manga to have bigger fandom. You know, when I started reading it, I thought it's gonna be a typical horror manga that I will forget in a few days. But it's not. It would be awesome if one day someone will create an anime under Kamisama no Iutoori series.

By the way, the ending was a little bit of a disappointment for me. I wanted my boi Ushimitsu to be alive, but not like this, lonely and broken...

I’m mildly surprised the canon gay character was the last survivor in this sort of manga (full of fanservice and that kills off characters every chapter), instead of one of the girls that had crushes on Akashi, or Akashi himself. And that he was actually one of the key characters and not a joke.

Still, so Ushimitsu is now calling the shots...but is he just going to let everything play out as before? Because if he is, Akashi is never winning, much less reaching him, since most of his successes happened because Ushimitsu was there as a player helping him. The only way for this to work is if Ushimitsu, instead of waiting, enterd the game pretending to be a player and continued to help Akashi, only to reveal he is the guy behind it all at the very end.
