Kacey Musgraves has always reminded me of Gwen in that way. Both of them have turned away from the roads that would have pushed them into iconic stratosphere because they weren’t motivated by the fame and the money. And both have been kicked around by the industry, did things their own way, and still became icons doing things their own way. Gwen a much bigger one but Kacey keeps chipping away on her own terms. So it wasn’t a shock to me that the first line of Kacey’s latest single, is ‘my Saturn has returned’.

13. Welcome To New York

it's no surprise that I absolutely ADORE 1989 and WTNY is an amazing opening track for the album! I have always had an attachment to this song and it's a go to hype song you just can't not be happy listening to this song! also being bi I love the "you can love who you love boys and boys and girls and girls" line!!

12. illicit affairs

now don't attack me but folklore is not an album I love but for some reason illicit affairs has always had a soft spot in my heart since the album came out! I think this is one of the BEST showcases of her songwriting abilities it is like an elevated version of August and I love it! ive personally never been the other person in a relationship but Taylor does such a good job at detailing and walking you through a story of being another woman to someone you love! AND THE BRIDGE??? ICONIC!!!

11. Midnight Rain

I am a sucker for vocoder so i have been and still am obsessed with how the chorus is done on this album! there aren't many songs out there about being the one to do the breaking up with but Taylor has 2 and I love both this and back to december but this one just barely beat it out! I love her looking back on a love she may have regretted but in the end they both got what they wanted she got a big name and he got a family!

10. New Romantics

hey look another 1989 song! (and not the last) the production, the lyrics, the vocal effects, the adlibs, the vocals everything about this song is pure pop perfection! this song reminds me of Halsey's new Americana of how it's a song about just embracing everything about yourself and the people around you! and come on tell me "heartbreak is the national anthem and we sing it proudly" doesn't describe most swifties

9. Christmases When You Were Mine

an underrated MASTERPIECE by Ms Taylor Alison Swift! i fully believe if this song was on an album and not just the Christmas ep it would get so much more love cause she deserves it!! im the kind of person that loves a good sad Christmas song (my fav being Christmas makes me cry by Kacey Musgraves) and this one never fails to make me cry! the song perfectly describes the feelings of the first Christmas away from your ex and how off the happiest time of year can be

8. False God

now on the complete opposite spectrum of that we have one of the few times Taylor was feeling spicy! I love all of her songs like this dress, I think he knows, cruel summer are all bangers but this one is just another level! the way this song perfectly blends jazz, r&b, and pop into a soft sultry song about a love so good you worship it like a false god! I also think this song does such a good job of showing a rollercoaster relationship but in the end you're still there for each other! the line "I know heaven's a thing I go there when you touch me, honey hell is when I fight with you" is just perfect

7. Our Song

our song is just THE country Taylor song! I don't really have anything deep to say about this one lol it's just a fun catchy song that if you don't like it there is something seriously wrong with you!

6. Coney Island ft. The National

now I'll be honest I still don't completely understand what this song is about but ill say kinda what I believe it is! I've always thought of this song as being about the guy dies leaving coney island so this place holds a spot in the girls heart and the national plays the guy in his final moments and all he can think about is her in coney island before he left.

5. All You Had To Do Was Stay

THE BEST TRACK 5 FIGHT ME!! also this isn't the last 1989 song on this list 💀 this song to me is a perfect showcase of her songwriting abilities and ability to make a catchy af pop song! this to me is one of those sad lyrics and happy production songs being about her taking to an ex that wants her back and saying you know all you had to do was stay and that she's the kind of person that once you leave you leave!

4. Love Story (Taylor's Version)

if this song is not in your top you're lying to yourself! i don't even know what to say about this song that hasn't been said a billion times! it's lyrics, the production, THE MUSIC VIDEO! everything is top tier when it comes to this song and it's popular for a reason! the Taylor's version is literally my most streamed song by any artist 💀

3. New Years Day

this is a beautiful love song and a perfect closer for the reputation album! and her performance of this song on Jimmy Fallon is like ingrained in my head permanently! it is such a beautiful metaphor of I'll be here for the party and all the glam in your life but I'll still be there for the ugly and the clean up after aka new years day!

2. How You Get The Girl

this song kinda reminds of her country style of writing cause it very much still follows the repeating chorus but the verses build on each other to keep telling this story of Taylor telling this guy exactly how to get her back! I think this song is an interesting contrast to ayhtdws where there she said once you leave you're gone so maybe whoever this song about is someone she'd be willing to take 2nd chance on if he did it right!

1. Tied Together With A Smile

not to be emotional but this song got me through so much in middle school and high school cause I had to be the "therapy friend" the one who always had a smile on my face and this song helped remind me that yk it's ok to come undone let others know your problems! listening to it also makes me feel like someone understands what I'm going through and is like patting me on the back saying it's gonna be ok!

Cowboy Carter: Beyonce's much-anticipated country album and her resilience.

In April of 2016, Beyonce released her much anticipated sixth studio album, Lemonade. The album received its well-deserved praise and acclaim, as well as lots of media attention. Lemonade came with several surprises. First, a hard-hitting, undeniably raw film and visuals to go alongside the music. Second, allusions to the fact that her husband, Jay Z, had been unfaithful to her with “Becky with the good hair.” And third, which came a few months later, a remix of “Daddy Lessons” featuring the iconic female country trio, The Chicks, that was performed at the 2016 Country Music Awards.

The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks, entered the limelight in the 90s upon the release of their albums Wide Open Spaces and Fly. However, The Chicks’ reputation suffered in 2003 after they spoke out against the war in Iraq, something that was unheard of in the country genre (Knopper, 2022). Lead singer Natalie Maines expressed serious disappointment in then-president George W. Bush while on stage in London. Soon enough, their music was pulled from radio stations after listeners complained about The Chicks and their political statements. This controversy still follows them today and was rehashed after their performance with Beyonce at the 2016 CMAs.

The country music genre is notorious for its patriotic, America-loving, conservative artists and audience that chastise artists who don’t agree with their political views. So, it wasn’t much of a shock when several artists and country fans were filled with rage when Beyonce, a black woman, took the stage at the 2016 CMAs alongside The Chicks. Fans called for a CMAs boycott before Beyonce even entered the stage (Dailey, 2024). It is undeniable that Beyonce’s identity as a black woman played a large role in the controversy surrounding her performance, but her activism surrounding police reform and Black Lives Matter earlier in 2016 certainly played a role in this as well, much like what happened to The Chicks in 2003. Even though the five minutes Beyonce and The Chicks performed together broke records for CMAs viewership, the performance was completely erased from their website and YouTube channel after the backlash.

Eight years later, Beyonce is set to release her very first country album, Cowboy Carter, and pay homage to the black roots of country music as a Texas native. Yesterday, Beyonce shared a lengthy Instagram post, illustrating her thought process behind the album and more details that were highly anticipated by the Beyhive. Her statements prove that the hate she received after performing at the CMAs only motivated her to go deeper into the genre (how fitting for a Virgo). She said that the album was “born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed… and it was very clear that I wasn’t.” She goes on to share that “the criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me.”

Beyonce’s experience at the CMAs and the backlash she received upon the announcement of her country album are exemplary of the omnipresent racism, sexism, and bigotry that is still deeply rooted in American culture today. Beyonce has received acclaim from some of the most talented artists to live (Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, etc.), yet her presence as a black woman in the music industry is still unpalatable to some. She has been greatly mistreated by both the media and other artists in the country genre, who have made it clear that they do not welcome her into the country scene despite her roots as a Houston, Texas native. As previously mentioned, the country genre has welcomed many new female artists (Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, etc.), but they all happen to be white.

Beyonce’s ability to turn the painful experience she had after the 2016 CMAs into a country album comeback is illustrative of the pure resilience and power that black women hold. She has already become the first black woman to have a number-one hit on the Country Billboard Hot 100. Although the racist backlash is still flooding in, Beyonce’s actions have repeatedly opened doors for more women of color and have forced the country genre to take a huge step towards being more inclusive.

It is regarded as among the most prestigious institutes in the music industry. It is well-known because it honors the most successful musicians, songwriters, and producers of the previous year and several people from the music industry. Thousands of celebrities and fans attend it.

It contributes to the awards’ popularity. The award show is renowned for its star-studded red carpet festivities and high-energy performances, which contribute to the event’s status as a highly anticipated occasion within the music industry and among music lovers.

Trendy Fashion From The Grammy Awards 2023

Sam Smith and his color-coordinated entourage, which included Unholy partner Kim Petras, drew attention ahead of the main event when they put on a fiery musical performance. Taylor Swift glistened as she arrived in a sequined blue gown that showed off her midriff.

The singer received four nominations for this year’s event, including song of the year for the enlarged, re-recorded version of All Too Well. However, she was unable to win. Harry Styles came in beautifully patterned dungarees with his inkwork on display.

Brandi Carlile was nominated for numerous awards, including album and record of the year. After winning an early award for best rock performance, the suited and booted singer-songwriter reflected on how she had achieved success by defying her mother’s advice.

Bebe Rexha was nominated for best dance/electronic recording for her collaboration with David Guetta; I’m Good (Blue). Despite this, she walked the red carpet in her pink, plunging gown. It was all white for Shaggy, who was nominated for best reggae album for Compton.

Best Moments Of The Grammy Awards 2023

In Los Angeles’ Crypto.com arena, Bad Bunny recreated a Puerto Rican carnival. His mashup of El Apagón and Después De La Playa featured pyrotechnics, scores of dancers, and cabezudos, the “bighead” puppets that march through San Juan every January.

Un Verano Sin Ti, which topped the U.S. charts for 13 weeks last year, earned the best Música Urbana album award. Brandi Carlile performed Americana, while Lizzo performed Special with a gospel twist. She eventually won the record of the year for About Damn Time.

Olivia Newton-John, Irene Cara, David Crosby, and Jeff Beck received heartfelt tributes in the in-memoriam section. Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, and Mick Fleetwood sang Christine McVie’s Songbird, while Kacey Musgraves paid tribute to Loretta Lynn, the “Queen of Country.”

Quavo sang Without You, a song he created after Takeoff’s passing. Celebrating 50 years of hip-hop, almost two dozen rap icons took the stage. Grandmaster Flash’s Flash Was On The Beat, an almost 12-minute medley of hip-best hop hits, opened the concert.

Run-DMC performed Rock The Bells, Public Enemy rapper Yo, Missy Elliot performed Lose Control, and Busta Rhymes performed his high-velocity rhyme from Chris Brown’s Look At Me Now. The Recording Academy gathered hip hop’s biggest names to celebrate 50 years.

The medley featured Blackthought, Run D.M.C., L.L. Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest, D.J. Jazzy Jeff, Salt-n-Pepa, Flava Flav, Ice-T, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Big Boi, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Nelly, GloRilla, and Lil Uzi Vert. Each musician performed fragments of their most memorable songs.

Queen Latifah’s 1993 hit “U.N.I.T.Y”, Nelly’s “Hot in Here,” and Missy Elliot’s “Get Ur Freak On” were among the most memorable performances. The segment was criticized for excluding Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Eve, Trina, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Run-DMC played Rock The Bells, Public Enemy delivered a verse of Yo, Bum Rush The Show, Missy Elliot swept in for Lose Control, and Busta Rhymes gave a show-stopping performance of his high-velocity rap from Chris Brown’s Look At Me Now.

The pain of seeing the Sheltons so in love and the embarrassment ML has endured in the last 8 years has hurt more then any words Blake could have said.

So true. I think it motivates her too though to be as much as Gwen is. She can’t stand that Blake leveled up. She’s trying desperately to be on that level (makeup line will come-mark my words). GR is also trying to prove to himself he’s as talented as Gwen.

Gwen inspires Blake and he is in awe of her but he isn’t jealous of her. As Kacey Musgraves says in Butterflies “stealin my heart instead of stealing my crown, untangled all the strings ‘round my wings that were tied.” That’s Blake. How it must drive ML crazy to realize she had that and threw it in the trash.

But how nuts is it that Gwen is the well known fashion icon and had a hugely successful and profitable fashion line for years, then sold out the Harajuku kids line she created, but now, it’s GR, ML, and Blake with fashion lines. 😂😂😂. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery but emulation stinks of desperation. ML can imitate and emulate all she wants, but she will never be in Gwen’s class.

Varaday - Supporting Quirks + Hobbies

@flufftober Day Four! Not entirely happy about this one, mainly because of how it jumps around a bit, but I decided it’d have to do.

Day Four: Supporting Silly Quirks and Hobbies

1 - Vasquez

“If you had to choose between Zak Efron or Brad Pitt, who would you choose?”

Listen, Joshua’s running on maybe ten hours of sleep through the whole week, so when he automatically answers, “Brad,” it takes a minute for the actual question to catch up to him. When it does, he whips around from the stove to stare at his husband and niece sitting at the kitchen island, both engrossed with the elder’s phone, “Wait, why are you even asking that?”

“Buzzfeed quiz,” Alena answered without a beat. “We’re trying to determine how old you are.”

“How old I am?” Joshua asked, bewildered, and gave his niece a look, “Did you–”

“No,” Alena grinned, mischievously, “This is all Uncle V.”

“Fifty-three,” Vasquez said.

“Fifty-three?”

“Yep.”

“Si.”

“Fifty-three?”

“Well, I already knew you weren’t going to pick Danny Devito or Justin Bieber,” Alena shrugged.

“And I already knew you were going to say Pitt, I just wanted to hear you say it without questioning why I was asking,” Vasquez smirked. “Since you’re practically dead on your feet right now anyways.”

Joshua pointed at him with the spoon, “Watch it. I’m aware enough now to take you on.”

“Skillet’s smoking, Uncle Josh.”

Joshua whirled around.

“Goddammit."

"Language!"

2 - Vasquez

“Who do you think you’re more like? Selena Gomez or Taylor Swift?”

“Oh, another one of these ridiculous quizzes?” Joshua groaned, but he couldn’t help but smile.

Sat in the passenger seat with the window down and his feet propped up on the sill as they drove down the highway, Vasquez simply craned his head back over the console and flashed Joshua a grin.

“I’m bored, guero. Humor me!”

Joshua sighed, “Give ‘em to me.”

The next few moments passed in quick succession as Vasquez fired off questions and Joshua answered in good humor.

“Looks like you’re more like T. Swift here, guero. You’re an icon and a role model and so many people look up to you… Well, I can name a few.”

“Uh-huh, and who did you get?”

“... Selena Gomez.”

Joshua cackled.

3 - Vasquez

“Wanna find out which Taylor Swift Era you’re currently in?”

Vasquez slowly raised an eyebrow, looking up from his book to give Joshua a look, “Oh, so now you’re a fan of those quizzes, are you?”

Joshua smirked and waggled his phone but said nothing. Vasquez sighed, and shut his book, rolling his eyes.

“Hit me.”

“How many close friends do you have?”

“You know the answer to that.”

“Six to nine, fair enough. What’d you do if your partner cheated on you? Mm… My guess is a night on the town, rebound, or revenge.”

“Revenge.”

“Damn, noted.”

“Dream job? You work in medical, so I’m assuming, doctor?”

“You’d assume right.”

“If you were an animal, what would you be? Dolphin, bunny, porcupine, turtle, orca, cardinal, butterfly, unicor–”

“Orca.”

“I didn’t even finish!”

“Orca.”

“... Orca it is. How would you dress if you had your dream closet?”

Vasquez gave his husband a look.

“Right, who am I asking? You’re vain– elegant it is– Ow! No pinching!”

“Next, guerito.”

“Favorite show? Ooh, I know this one, Grey’s Anatomy. Despite all the inaccuracies. Favorite singer– good lord, what’s up with this site’s obsession with Taylor Swift?”

“You’re literally quizzing me to find out what Swift era I’m in, carino.”

“... Fair point. So, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, One Direction, Ariana Grande–”

“Kacey, don’t even bother listing the others.”

“Kacey, then. Favorite restaurant or you staying home?”

“Home, duh.”

“Damn right. Uh, where can you be found on the weekend– oh, easy. You’re with me,” Joshua grinned and winked at his husband, earning an eye roll but amused smile. “And finally… your favorite color is red, I’d be a fool not to know that.”

Vasquez raised an eyebrow as he waited for Joshua to call out his results.

“Speak Now!” Joshua finally announced, “That’s not what I expected.”

“Hahaha,” Vasquez scoffed. He adjusted positions so he was in Joshua’s personal space, “And what did you get?”

“Red, apparently. I hate how accurate these things are, why do you even do them?”

“They’re fun,” Vasquez smirked. “And a good way to waste time when there’s nothing to do at the hospital.”

“Oh, so when it’s a qui–”

“Don’t say it, Dios! Just because I’m off shift doesn’t mean they won’t call me if things go to hell in a handbasket!”

Joshua laughed and set his phone aside, reaching over to wrap an arm around Vasquez and pull him closer, “You could always just ignore them or tell them you’re busy.”

Vasquez chuckled, lips curving up in a sly smirk, “Si? What would I be busy doing, exactly?”

Joshua grinned salaciously as he leaned down for a kiss, “Oh, I could think of a thing or two…”

1 - Joshua

“... Guero, you’re staring again.”

Joshua quickly averted his eyes from where he’d been fixing one of the doctors across the courtyard with his Level Three Death Stare, “Sorry.”

Vasquez raised an eyebrow, then shrugged, “You just don’t need to be scaring her. Sarah just started last week.”

“Yeah? What’s her story?”

Vasquez gave his husband a look, “Seriously?”

Joshua squirmed under the brunet’s gaze. He offered a sheepish smile, “C’mon, darlin’, you know old habits die hard.”

Vasquez sighed and resisted the urge to roll his eyes, “She’s from Washington, went to Stanford medical school, fifty-three years old, moved to Colorado Springs because…” He trailed off, “Actually, I don’t know why. Haven’t asked.”

Joshua turned his gaze back to the poor woman and Vasquez snapped his fingers, bringing Joshua’s gaze back to him, “One minute, guerito. Just one minute. You brought me lunch and I’d rather have your eyes on me than you profiling my coworkers.”

“I said sorry!” Joshua legitimately pouted, and finally turned back to the to-go bag of food he hadn’t even touched yet. Not unlike Vasquez, who’d already started on his sandwich and was going over patient files at the same time, “Like I said– old habits.”

“Unneeded habits, here. This is a hospital, querido, no one besides the patients or visitors are liable to cause any trouble.”

Joshua merely shrugged, “Whatever you say, darlin’, but might I suggest putting your work aside if you really want my attention on you?”

2 - Joshua

“Again, with the profiling?!”

“I can’t just turn it off! It’s what’s kept me alive this long!”

Vasquez let out a mildly hysterical laugh, burying his face in his hands to hide his exasperation.

This time, it was a charity event being hosted by the hospital, and Vasquez had found his husband seated at the bar sipping on a coke while watching the people around him.

“But if the hospital’s looking for some actual interested investors, my suggestion is the group on the far side of the dance floor, over by the stage,” Joshua said, apologetically. He took a sip of his coke and watched Vasquez turn towards the aforementioned group of men and women, “I’ve watched that new doctor, Sarah? Talk to them a few times, but she keeps going for a group that looks less interested in providing any funding. I overheard the woman in the red dress saying something about wanting to help with the hospital’s funding when it came to women’s issues– uh, she put it a bit more poetic than that.”

Huh… maybe that profiling habit wasn’t so bad after all.

“She’s had a gin and tonic for her last two drinks,” Joshua offered, right as the bartender came up behind him with that exact drink. “And she’s almost done with her current one.”

Vasquez picked the drink up and then placed a kiss on Joshua’s neck, “Guero, if this gets us the funding for the maternity ward we need, it’s your choice between a vacation or sexual favors for a week.”

With that, Vasquez ventured off to charm some rich people out of their money.

3 - Joshua

Joshua was at the nurse's station, talking with some of the nurses, when Vasquez finally managed to clock out. He had an easy smile on his face, but the brunet had known his husband for a lifetime and then some, so he very easily spotted the glint in those green eyes that spelled concern.

“Well, ladies, you all have been a joy to hang out with, but I think I see the nurse I want to go home with coming up now,” Joshua cast the women a wink, earning a round of laughter and pouts.

“Vasquez, you truly bagged yourself a catch,” Nicole mused.

“Si, lo se,” Vasquez smirked as Joshua reached out for him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “Now I’m going to let him take me home before Leni decides to put me back on the clock.”

“You’ve worked almost thirty hours, she’ll have to fight me first,” Joshua mumbled.

“Go on, get,” Another woman, Taylor, waved them off, and Vasquez let himself be led away. Once they were through the ER and in the parking lot, the brunet spoke.

“I don’t like that look in your eye, guero. It’s your ‘Something’s Wrong and I Intend to Solve It’ look.”

“It’s nothing, sweetheart,” Joshua laughed it off, “I was just catching up on the hospital gossip. Damn, darlin’, no wonder you come home as such a chatterbox. Who knew there was so much to hear at the hospital!”

Vasquez slowly raised an eyebrow as they reached the truck; he leaned against the passenger side as Joshua opened the door for him and looked at the redhead. He wasn’t a hundred percent sure, despite knowing him as long as he had, but he was fairly certain Joshua was trying to turn suspicion off him.

“What?” Joshua cocked his head, giving Vasquez a mischievous smile. He leaned against the door, fingers curled loosely over the top of the frame.

“You know you drop more terms of endearment when you don’t want me getting involved in something, right?” Vasquez asked.

“Oh, look who’s profiling who now.”

“Not profiling when I know you that well,” Vasquez mused. He let out a sigh and shook his head, “Whatever… Like you said, I’ve worked almost thirty hours and I’m too exhausted to pick up this particular argument again. Can we just go home?”

Joshua leaned forward to catch Vasquez’s mouth in a kiss, surprising the brunet as he melted into it. When they pulled away, Vasquez narrowed his eyes.

“I hate it, when you do that,” the man hissed. “Makes me feel like I can let you get away with anything.”

“Anything, huh?” Joshua smirked, “Well, damn, I guess I should do it more often.” His next kiss, he pressed to Vasquez’s temple, “Later, though. You look like you’re about to drop, darlin’. Let’s get you home.”

The next time Vasquez went into work, the nurse’s station was abuzz with news, one piece in particular that hit Vasquez like a punch to the gut.

“Sarah was a killer?” He had to repeat it a few times to make sure he hadn’t misheard. He stared at Nicole to make sure he was right; that their new coworker, hired just a month before, had been arrested during his few days off for murder.

“Yeah, can you believe it?” Nicole huffed, hazel eyes dark with anger, “She was suspected back at her old place of employment in Washington, of killing people- you know, like some sort of angel of death- but there was never any sufficient evidence to take her to court. Oh, and financial fraud and drug smuggling. But they got her here on an anonymous tip.”

Vasquez blinked, then frowned as a thought struck him.

“Hey, Nicole, you mind covering for me for a few minutes? I need to make a phone call.”

“Yeah, sure thing, hon.”

With that dismissal, Vasquez made his way back to the semi-privacy of the locker room, where he drew his phone out and hit the speed dial. The line rang three times before it connected.

“Hey, darlin’, what’s up? Didn’t you just get on shift–” Joshua started.

“You knew,” it wasn’t a question.

“... You’re going to have to be a bit more specific.”

“About Sarah. How did you know? You never even spoke to her!”

“What about Sarah?”

“Don’t try and play me for an idiota, carbon,” Vasquez hissed, more annoyed than angry. “Just tell me the truth. Por favor?”

“Alright then,” Joshua cleared his throat, “It started when I brought you lunch back last month. I… I can’t describe it, I wish I could, but there was just… something about her that set my hackles up. And then you said she didn’t really want to talk about why she transferred out here to the middle of nowhere and that just… didn’t sit right with me. Then at the charity ball, she was talking with benefactors who have a, uh, less than stellar rep in the headlines here in the state– ones who are connected to like, pushing drug sales and that stuff. And then when I picked you up the other day, while I waiting, I was talking with the other nurses, and they told me about how meds had gone missing and how a few more patients than normal had been dying in the ER after Sarah had started working there so I just… called Jones and told him to look into her. Wait, has she been arrested or something?"

"Yes," Vasquez answered and ran a hand over his face with a disbelieving laugh. "Just from one glance, you knew she was trouble. How?"

"Like I said… I can't describe it. I just know these things." Joshua said apologetically, "Arrested, huh? Damn, Eddy movies fast."

Vasquez was still laughing.

"Uh, V? You okay?"

"Never stop being you, guerito," Vasquez said. "Mi corazon, te amo."

Joshua was silent for a beat, but when he spoke next there was an audible smile in his voice.

"Love you, too, Ale. Now go do your job and save some lives. I'll see you later."

Two weeks, Vasquez said mentally as he ended the call. Two weeks' worth of sexual favors or vacation. Who knows how much trouble that he just saved the hospital with that habit of his? Dios, do I love him.
