i do wish people would move beyond talking about the historical significance of kirk/spock and actually engage with how beautiful of a story theirs is and why those two specifically sparked a movement to see same-sex characters portrayed beyond camaraderie.

Fic Writers….I’m curious…

Ged's a wizard he's bisexual and he loves his boat so much. He's sailed around the world on his beloved little boat and learned everything about sailing even though he could've just used magic because it brought him joy. I just like him a lot. Also he talks to dragons

Jonny is an immortal (die and come back, regenerative immortality) pirate who commandeered the Aurora for himself and the woman who made him immortal. She proceeded to make several other people immortal, who all joined the crew, until they threw her out the airlock (several times. She left of her own free will as a result of this). Jonny declared that, as the original member, he was captain now. Everyone decided to ignore him. He introduces himself as ""your humble captain"" every performance, and every performance Tim (another crew member) and usually the entire audience yells "first mate!" He once said "so she came to the closest thing we have to a captain: myself" only for it to cut to the situation in question to show that he had no control at all. Even the starship doesn't see him as the captain (she's sentient. Also a lesbian! I love her). Captain struggles aside, he's so fun. He once committed every single crime on a planet (except the sex crimes). He had an arrest warrant out with the reason "just arrest the fucker". He has a whole post-patricide harmonica solo. He's fantastic

I wasn't planning on doing this but I've been enjoying these polls and don't want them to end! So let's extend a few weeks more and pit the favorites against each other 😈 hehe

Haru -

"Haruka, ever since seeing a waterfall as a child, has had an extremely autistic fondness towards water. Enough so, that early on in the days of the fandom, we joked he was watersexual. He does indeed almost see all water as a person, and personification of things is common in autism. He constantly talks about how the water feels and what it feels like to swim in water, something that could be sensory for him. He also doesn’t like being constricted in how he expresses his love for water and even has something of a breakdown during the second season (eternal summer) at having to finally choose to become a professional swimmer or to keep swimming freely in the water he loves so much. Haruka is also very expressionless and somewhat monotone and has been that way since he was a child. His close friends are shocked to see him loudly laugh at one point due to being tickled. He very much masks his emotions, which during season 2 becomes a point of contention from his close friends as he won’t tell them what’s wrong. As I somewhat mentioned before, he doesn’t like change and does not adapt to it very well at all and the main problems for his character for much of the series is that he has trouble confronting change and accepting it and learning to live with it. Anywho, he’s a great character, in my opinion, and deserves to make it far in this tournament. Thank you for reading."

"He's essentially nonverbal (either doesn't talk at all or uses telepathy to beam words into people's head), practices making certain facial expressions in the mirror, hates crowded places (all the people's thoughts overwhelm and overstimulate him), exclusively enjoys eating coffee jelly (other sweets are good too) ((safe food)), feels alienated from society, and pure, primal instinct. got that autism swag."

well, I just got polls and thought I would experiment with what that's like and now I regret my choices because now I actually want to know the real answers

(also I would personally choose Patricia C. Wrede as a gateway despite having been read Lewis and Tolkien before I turned seven on the grounds that Wrede was what made me want to read more of my own accord)
