AGONIZING. the half-truths the manipulative pep talk. she does Know Her. the emphasis on like you, when taylor finds herself so inherently unlikable. she did latch onto taylor the moment she saw her on the roof opposite lung, because she knew that taylor was suicidal, and she couldn't stand to let taylor destroy herself. she does Know stuff. i don't think she's scared of lung. she knows exactly what happened to taylor last night w/ armsmaster and she's giving her exactly the right feedback about it to validate her without being allowed to let on more specifics than that. and of course taylor will not realize that she Knows, because "lisa Knows but wants to turn me to her side/keep me around because she likes me" is far far more impossible for taylor's insecure ass to ever believe than "lisa just somehow doesn't know." head in my hands. lisie. lisa.

December 15th 2023

"Hey everyone I'm Lisi Hazer, I'm the captain of the 2023-2024 world junior USA women's hockey team and today TSN is going to ask me some questions so you can get to know me better."

"What is your favorite childhood memory?"

"Probably when I was about 8 and my dad won his 3rd Stanley Cup. It was the first one I could actually remember and it was only his third year with San Jose, the whole arena was just electric. I've never seen my family so excited before."

"Do you know any of the people on either of the US teams well or is this your first time meeting a lot of them?"

"Well this is my third year on the team so I know a lot of the returning girls pretty well and as for the guys I actually know quite a few of them. I've known Gabe and Will since our younger world junior days and Rutger is just in my family's circle of people to know."

"Who would you consider to be your hero?"

"Well as cheesy as it sounds, probably my brother. There was a point a few years ago that I was in such a bad slump to I hated what I was doing. I really wanted to quit and just start over but Andy wouldn't let me. He made hockey fun again and I couldn't be more grateful because it's what I love the most."

"Tell us an embarrassing story."

"Oh boy, well- this video is all over the internet but when I was like 12 I was finally grasping the concept that girls hockey was a lot different from guys, especially the physical contact. I was so angry I was like why do boys get to hit and girls can't so my next game I checked a girl so hard into the boards I got kicked out of the game, and I still feel bad to this day."

"After that last question I must know, do you still get a little physical on the ice?"

"Uh yeah a little, I can get pretty hot headed on the ice so a little shove is pretty common."

"Ok final question, is there anyone special you'll be hoping to see in the stands this season."

"Um haha not really I can't say that's the first thing I'm thinking of during a game. But no there isn't anyone."

Hi! I was wondering if you could give some information about venus and mars in 7H pisces synastry. I am the house person in this overlay 🥰

hi 🩵 e t h e r e a l ✨ 7th house AND pisces 100% give me those vibes. your 7th house is your partner, your other half so to speak, so having 7th house overlays in synastry can feel a lot like completion, the person you were looking for. don‘t be fooled though: this won‘t always be comfortable, since the 7th house can also represent the parts of yourself that you project onto others and are not always comfortable with. venus shouldn’t be a problem here but mars can be.

I‘d say this also depends a lot on the condition of your 7th house as well - are there any planets in it? if so, benefics (venus, jupiter) or rather malefics (mars, saturn)? how‘s the condition of your 7th house ruler?

in general venus in the 7th house can make for them to be the perfect partner to you - I personally love this overlay. mars fires things up, which can make it spicy but can also lead to arguments or petty/passive fights (pisces is a water sign after all). I‘d say look for ways to be „mars-y“ together, where you can team up and be competitive or doing mars/pisces activities together so the energy doesn‘t pent up too much.

also: pisces can have escapist as well as victim/martyr-dynamic tendencies. doesn‘t have to, just a thing to watch out for and be aware of 🩵

i’ve realized what a good litmus test is for the quality of a branch of monster high media: HOW WELL IS CLEO WRITTEN? her character’s writing is a great litmus test for the rest of the writing.

g1 diaries - give cleo the most nuance, is one of the most well-beloved mh canon sources that has super fun worldbuilding, character development, and lore not seen in the animated stuff

g1 webisodes - cleo starts off pretty shallow in s1 (the worst season) but she’s more fleshed out by the time season 2 comes around. another well-done series that is fun to watch

g1 movies - cleo’s 2nd most sympathetic portrayal that has some of her best character moments of all time. these are the Classics of mh. these are the big guns.

g1 ghoulfriends books - cleo is very one-note. not a huge fan of this cleo because im 100% certain the author has a deuchelle agenda. all this cleo does is scream and complain about things. but the books are pretty simple overall. a few interesting things happen but they’re easily skippable if you’re not a completionist

g1 lisi harrison books - the 2nd worst cleo. has her moments of depth but it’s all for naught when she is just straight-up cruel to people she cares about. reflects how the rest of the series has so many moments that COULD be something better but it’s overall just a bad, BAD series for innumerable reasons.

g2 movies - the #1 most sympathetic portrayal. she’s really not that mean she’s just kinda impatient. very enthusiastic. reflects how g2 was less edgy overall but still had lots of heart. iEnjoy

g2 ghoul squad - cleo’s fun but kinda bland. same as the series. nothing to report on either of them

g3 live action - the #1 worst cleo. whitewashed and not written with a single ounce of nuance. not even deuce wants to talk to her. frustrating on all accounts. both her and the movie itself have one saving grace. cleo’s is her pajamas with the scarab brooch, and the movie’s is Frankie’s Existence

g3 nick show - the kookiest cleo yet. love that for her. she’s got the most monstery traits/abilities out of all the cleos, showing how mh is branching out of its normal comfort zone to make something fun. give her some convos with deuce and this might be A Favorite Cleo for me. i’m liking the show a lot too, it’s fun!

g1/g3?? haunt couture diaries - this is a cleo written by someone who has taken 1 feminism class in their entire life and didn’t do any prior research before writing these stupid things. hollow and doesn’t match g3 canon, but also falls out of line with g1, where i think it’s supposed to be. stop giving cleo (and monster high in general) to people who can’t write beyond a “tween drama movie aimed at 12 year olds who think they’re outgrowing dcoms” level

honeyworks is seriouslly sleeping on prime content that i would devour whole and especially now that hanipre is shutting down there's even less of a chance for them to interact and have more core character development </3

but i REALLY love the potential in dynamics between all four of them ( Ken, Aizou, Arisa, Yujiro((+kuro and YUJIRO KITTY. YUJIRO KITTY BECOME REAL))

i guess this is why i really love the roleswap me and lisi concocted, and u can kinda see it as a recurring topic in my fics haha but i just think they'll all get along really well

like here are the canon relationships established by haniwa:

Aizou and Ken: two brothers that used to be close, fell apart because of their family falling apart, have been slowly piecing their bond back bit by bit

Ken and Arisa: two people that never thought they would fall in love!! ken being the type of person arisa hated!!!!! arisa being very different from the usual girls ken messed around with; tthey're different, but end up loving each other so much! it's a little messy, but they're working through it at their own pace. its nothing like ken's previous relatioships, but it makes him so happy aizou and yujiro: two idols that absolutely HATED each other at the start, forced to work together! but they realized that they really weren't that different, and had the same dream! and they care SO much about each other!!! though they're bad at showing it , haha . taking it from aizou himself, yujiro taught him what love was :')

aizou and arisa: these are mostly hanipre / one scene from the novels but!! aizou approves of arisa :) and they even laugh together and tease ken!!!! theyre literally already sibligns he's already accepted his sister in law sobsssfjsf

yujiro and arisa/ken: also hanipre exclusive, yujiro sees arisa and ken and thinks that that's the type of relationship that he would want..

but what if!!!!!! what if haniwa pushed the samishigariya quartet more!!!!!!!!!!! think of what we can have!!!!!!!!!

think of arisa!!! resident narumi sena superfan!! ken brings her home and aizou is there with yujiro writing a song or smt and instead of fangirling over them being idols or treating them differently she just treats them like normal students!!!! i think about big sis arisa soooo much like normally aiyuu are really against girls and think they're shallow because literally everyone and their mom is always praising them at school because theyre bigshot idols and then there is arisa, treating them like shibasaki aizou and someya yujiro, and not as aizou and yujiro from lipxlip. (like she literally calls aizou shibasaki-kun's little brother aizou or something close to that, and we KNOW that she's a narumi sena superfan so she most definitely knows who aizou actually is but she still chooses to call him based on his relation to her shibasaki :)). she also doesn't use her knowing them at all doesnt flaunt it or use them to get to sena

like ahh i like to imagine that aiyuu look up to her like a big sister figure (even though shes shorter lmfao) she's very kind and also manages to control the mess that is shibasaki ken i think they'll admire her for that and omg imagine them working together and asking sena for a favor for arisa like they go out of their way to make their big sister figure happy breaks down crying ueeueeuhsnje

ok now this is just me rambling haha but also imagine ken and yujiro.... they make fun of aizou toggether and ken tells yujiro what aizou was like as a child and they laugh evilly

and and and ad na yujiro and arisa mostly being quiet but in comfort? sometimes they see their shibasaki's being idiots and in unison exasperatedly sigh. i think their dynamic would be amazing. cat-like people 4ever.

Playing around with G3’s Clawdeen to try and get used to her new design and character. Personal opinions under the cut, but TLDR: I like a lot of her new details, I don’t mind her glasses, her new design/character reminds me A TON of Howleen (like those cute freckles), they should have kept her siblings, and I’m not enjoying the idea of Clawdeen being “half human” when she is a werewolf, and I don’t mind Clawdeen being the main character (she was my original favorite, followed by Ghoulia and Cleo, and only usurped by Abbey). :)

I have only seen parts of the leaked live-action movie, but it is giving me Descendants/Lisi Harrison’s MH book series vibes, and neither were up my alley. Although, the songs are very catchy and it looks like the cast was having fun. :) I will miss her Brooklyn accent, but I am also curious to see how her new voice actress takes her character. :D

Starting out with things I like about her design, I like all of her gold earrings (and the several necklaces in the animated picture). I like her wolf nose, more detailed ears, and (hopefully) more textured hair (yes please), although I would have liked more of her dark brown hair instead of all purple/pink. I assume they’re keeping her claws and I hope they’ll keep G2’s molded fur. I hope they keep her doing several sports (the skateboarding is an interesting addition, but it also feels like something Howleen would also LOVE), love of fashion design (taking some art classes), and her drive (taking some business classes and already posting/gaining clout on social media for her fashion illustrations).

When looking at her leaked prototype, it almost looks like she might have some human ears tucked under her hair….I REALLY hope I’m just imagining that though (although, they would help keep her glasses up, haha).

When it comes to her glasses, I did think it was an odd choice at first, but then again, her older sister has them, and Howleen was released with a pair (in G2….?). My gripe with her glasses are that they are too plain and don’t scream Clawdeen; I feel they needed to be a different lens shape, or in an animal print or a metallic gold. I feel like she would have saved up her money to buy several pairs to go with different outfits and she is meticulous in picking out their designs. It would also be a fun detail if they curved upwards to hook behind her wolf ears to keep them in place.

I think G2 over did it when it came to her thousand and one younger brother siblings (in the animation), but they overcorrected for G3 by getting rid of all her siblings (Clawd and Howleen especially).

I don’t really like a werewolf being half human. I like Monster High’s werewolves are always in between both forms, and that get more wolf-like on the full moon- like with Clawdeen’s extra speed, strength, and fur/hair growth. Maybe they could have used this idea to make her (and all werewolves) pass for normies during the New Moon?? I think that would be an interesting conundrum as it feels like she doesn’t fully belong to the monster or human world?? Maybe she can go full wolf mode on the full moon (like how they kinda did in G2). I mean, this would give Mattel the chance to release two/three different versions of Clawdeen.

Also on the topic of Monster vs Human world, I think they should have most of the Monster and Human world act like parallel dimensions -like Paris/Scaris, Hollywood/Hauntlywood- with some parts of the world overlapping/merging- such as New Salem/Salem. These merging points would be perfect for a school -such as Monster High- because they can more easily include some monsters that are usually only found in the “human” world, and monsters that are considered “too human”/used to be human -Hyde’s family, witches, mummies, some zombies and ghosts- to live in the Monster World??? This would make Monster High a school that attracts a ton of different monsters from around the world (lots of different dolls for Mattel to make), conflict with the human world and monster world “purists,” and a reason for it be a more unique school compared to the other schools in the monster high universe.

Her outfit (what I’ve seen of the animated version), doesn’t look bad, but also looks more like pieces Howleen would wear (like they were a hand-me down from Clawdeen, but personalized with patches and fashionable rips). Honestly a lot of her personality (from what little I have seen) seems a lot closer to Howleen’s too (being new to a school, not knowing where she fits in, finding herself). Maybe Monster High should have had G3 follow Howleen, Twyla, and an aged up Alivia, Lagoona’s sister, and Fangelica…?

I know that this version is not for late twenty something me, but it feels like they are trying to attract REALLY young children (5-10) with this style of animation. It is giving me some Disney Jr. stylization with very bright colors and rounded shapes, instead of being its own thing. I feel like G1 attracted more of a pre-teen/teenager audience (it hooked me and my friends when we were in high school and none of us had been doll collectors previously).

I mean I liked G1, but all of the different cannons were a mess (I actually prefer Ever After High’s animated series/movie/books a lot more than Monster High’s for this reason), the animation for the animated series and movies was meh, nothing ground breaking (honestly, the only great animation was used in the doll tv ads). However, it was stylized that you knew it was Monster High. It looked like it had its own style, not like it was trying hard to blend in with what was popular.

G1 seemed to take clothing from the era and “monster-fy” it and heavily personalize it to that character (who all seemed to have their own color pallets and taste in fashion). So far G3 seems to have done a bit of this (Clawdeen’s moons/gold/animal print/fur/purple), but have not “monsterfied” it yet. It looks…too clean…or polished….or bright without any dark colors to offset it….I dunno it’s hard to explain the word for it…like they are all shopping on the same clothing rack at the same store…? Sort of too monogamous…?

I’m not against reboots/retooling, as it can greatly improve things (2017’s Ducktails), and explore different avenues for characters (like TMNT 2012/ROTTMNT, or any of the Batman series - Batman the Animated series/Batman the Brave and the Bold/Lego Batman).

However, as long as their dolls are articulated, have killer shoes, have plenty of monster details on their bodies (I’m hoping that that Deuce has a few scale details on his body like his cousin Viperine), and their clothes (which I hope are a step up from what Mattel has been giving their current lines of dolls), I think I’ll be alright and will definitely get the core dolls.

Also, Mattel should canonize Clawdeen being a lesbian. She could date a few mansters, but not feel that spark, and find it with a lovely ghoul; bring in that representation!!

So I absolutely meant to write additional scenes for this but I've been wholly distracted by a separate Cinderella AU for them now, so I will just post what I have so it doesn't burn a hole in my fic folder while I work on the whole AU lol. Thank you for the prompt! <3 I did, in fact, decide to run with 11 and it ended with me realizing what exactly Lia saw in Lyon in the first place, so thank you for that as well! :D

11. Heartbeat

At first, she approached him out of a sense of propriety. After all, as a delegate at the Seven Kingdoms Summit, she had a duty to meet as many of her fellows as possible, as soon as possible. And, given the circumstances surrounding her attendance, that Included the rest of the delegation from her own kingdom.

What possessed her to approach the Duke first and foremost was less apparent. It was certainly not from any encouragement on his side—while few of the Jiyelese delegation seemed to possess any more enthusiasm for socialization than she, a young lady who was attending out of obligation rather than desire, did, the duke was hardly one of them, though his expression seemed more… guarded, more uncomfortable, than anything else.

Perhaps that was it; it was not immutable, his attitude towards their fellow delegates. It was born of discomfort, likely of longstanding isolation, and she couldn’t help but try.

And shockingly, wonderfully, it worked. Oh, he had few words at first, his conversation stilted enough that it seemed to be an intentional obstacle on his part, but he was not immune to light coaxing and gentle teasing, even allowing a subtle smile to soften his features at her most pointed comments. And the words came easily, once she noticed his faint hint of interest. It was guarded, of course, carefully buried beneath stoic masks and, very likely, pointed reminders of what topics were and were not appropriate for social niceties, but once she did notice, it seemed almost impossible to not see the subtle shifts in his expression, the flicker of genuine enthusiasm in his eyes, as she ventured to ask his opinion on Mozi and Lisi, and offer hers in return.

It was a strange thing, to engage in such a discussion. After years of having only her family and servants as company, years where her conversations were on crop rotations and book balancing rather than philosophical treatises and academic debate, it was unfamiliar to banter and quip, to speak of theories and abstractions that she had only managed to glean through books borrowed and perused on late nights, made later by extra work. It was strange. It was enjoyable.

It was… right, somehow.

Still, she was not so deeply enthralled in the discussion that she missed the glances they received from the others, a mix of curious and calculating, particularly from other, no doubt more eligible, young ladies.

Then again, she did not require training for the summit to know that she was close to overstepping the bounds of propriety with the length of their conversation.

As she excused herself, he returned her formal farewell with alacrity, bowing and excusing himself a retreat into his self-imposed exile, in a corner far from the rest of their fellows, with a speed that perhaps should have been discouraging. And yet, even so, there was a change in his posture, in the manner with which he held himself, that lessened the disapproval which had earlier seemed to radiate off of him. For a moment, she granted herself a moment to pause, allowing the success of the interaction to bolster her nerve.

Maybe, just maybe, she was not quite so out of her league. Indeed, perhaps, she could make a small difference in her own way, could make some… pleasant memories, or even friends, from the unfortunate circumstances. Even if she did still have the rest of the gauntlet to face.

Taking a deep breath, she turned back to the rest of the hall and summoned her most friendly smile, though even so, she couldn’t stop herself from glancing back towards the corner, towards him, with a silly smile that she couldn’t fight, even if she wanted to.

And, strangely, wonderfully, she had no desire to.
