I just want y'all to know that "Shí Bǎomǔ/Stone Nanny" is like the best term ever created for Stone Monkeys, and I can only credit it to an anon asker.
Mostly because it immediately makes me think of these kinds of old statues, like even seen in tge LMK show itself;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Celestial animals with stone skin and silk hearts. Invulnerable to all attacks except ones of emotion. A species so gentle that all that is left is their fossilised bodies - ones that monkey demons almost instinctually feel at ease around.
And being this creature may just make the Monkey King the most dangerous creature in all the Realms. For he will always have something to fight for and protect.
The Gods will run when a "Shí Băomŭ" goes to war.

Can we NOT do this?
Tumblr media
Can we NOT do this?
Let's not call people/theories stupid because you don't agree.
The person who wrote this confession doesn't know what happens next in the show (BECAUSE NONE OF US KNOW) so who are they to say what's stupid or wrong? MAN I wish this wasn't anonymous.
And another thing: THIS THEORY IS VALID.
Yes, in his right mind, Mk would never go against Mei and his found family. But as you can SEE, when he fought Azure, MK's sense of reason was gone. (He's the one who messed up his own plan. MK's plan was to trap Azure back in the scroll. But because he WASN'T IN THE RIGHT STATE OF MIND, he kept fighting Azure to the point where he used too much power and couldn't control it anymore). He wasn't JUST angry. He was having fun for the first half of the fight.
As for MK and Mei's relationship, there are tons of parallels between them and Wukong and Macaque. AND the fact Ink Mk said "Your friends will turn on you. Seeing you for the monster you will become." Foreshadowing, people.
TO SUMMARIZE:
Everyone should be allowed to theorize whatever the fuck they want. I was in the Steven Universe fandom and literally 75% of the fandom thought that the theory of Rose being Pink was idiotic. And guess what turned out to be true? Point is: shut the fuck up.

Okay LMK Fandom we need to talk about this.
Tumblr media
WUKONG DOESN'T HAVE THIS ABILITY!
We haven't seen him do is in the show, so I may be wrong. He did have a similar power in the original myth but that was apart of his 72 transformations. MK's light monster is something completely different.
BUT
Do you know who that does remind me of?
Tumblr media
This isn't the first time either
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WHY DOES MK AND MACAQUE'S BIRD FORMS LOOK NEARLY IDENTICAL!
And to prove I'm not going crazy.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Someone explain why MK looks like the biological child of these monkey morons.

I figured out Lego Monkie Kid's Storyline for Season 5
This is based of @then-be-a-warrior theory that MK, Wukong and Macaque all end up in The Underworld in Season 5. (Here)
And i agree to that theory, i even reblogged it(here), where i theorised why it would make sense for each of them to acutlly end up there.
Now, how could we figure out Seasons 5 storyline from this?
Because...:
While The Mystic Monkeys are down there, we could have some focus on the side characthers (Mei, Pigsy, Tang and Sandy)
We could finally go more in depth with their characthers and learn even more about them! (While they are trying to save the Mystic Monkeys)
Tumblr media
Them being down in the place Macaque was for hundreds of years, could mean we finally figured out how Macaque died in the first place. Aka. More shadowpeach lore!!!
Tumblr media
In the Underworld, atleast in JTTW, they have a index of "The Ten Species of living creatures". And for someone like MK, who has no idea of who or what he is, he would defienlty want to see that.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
This is going to be a big season for characther exploration, their past and their future destiny/fate.
If anyone has other ideas to what the Storyline for Seaaon 5 is going to be, i would love to hear it!

LMK VS Legend
The Guardians of Knowledge
Tumblr media
I know that in the show these two are just call the guardians of knowledge, but after an interesting find I THINK I know who that actually are and if this is true it might make season 5 more interesting or not be effected based on the shows perspective, hope you enjoy.
LMK:
In the show these two dont get much screen time they are not given names either. They act as both guardians and keepers of knowledge. They have the physical and vibe of a celestial being. But they actually seem to be more librarians they say that knowledge is for everyone you just need a card. (Hilarious)
Tumblr media
Their home the cloud seeming to be a magical /technological connected place out in a desert it’s very hard to tell its location the cloud glitch and the place has a lot of sand around.
These two look like giants but don’t have the size they have the coloring of demons but no horn or fangs but they could be hiding it. They wear what seems to be celestial armor but Azure wore some two along with Peng and Tusk. so there demos that wore them if they worked for the celestial realm.
Legend:
Who, I think these two are actually interesting I think they are Qiānlǐyǎn (Thousand-Mile Eyes), and Shùnfēng’ěr (Wind-Following Ears).
Tumblr media
Does this seem similar to anyone?
Tumblr media
It's very similar to the door of the cloud. Two brothers in a special pose holding golden weapons and wearing golden clothes, One is red while the other is green. "One is usually depicted as a green demon with large all-seeing eyes. He keeps a weather eye on the horizon, scouring the sea for sailors in need of the sea goddess’s assistance." that is the main physcill description of each of them. They don't wear the right headband but that could be explained because the image of the statue is from Taiwan, not China The two are normally depicted wearing "flowing clothing or open armor to show off their muscular physiques. Apart from their divine sashes, they are commonly shown wearing golden armbands, bracelets, and/or anklets, as well as a tiger skin at the waist." These traits appear to be consistent with all other examples I've seen. Some of these missing parts could been the show's decision. Remember I'm just speculation not stating.
Qianliyan is a Chinese sea and door god. He usually appears with Shunfeng'er as a guardian of the temples of the sea goddess Mazu. Qianliyan's sharp vision is employed to help protect sailors at night and during fog and other inclement weather.[12] In some accounts, he is capable of seeing everything in the world. Qianliyan typically appears as a green-skinned demon shielding his eyes from the sun's glare.
Shùnfēng’ěrThe god's role in helping sailors distinguish favorable winds also prompts the translations "Fair-Wind Ears"[3] and "Favorable-Wind Ears" In some accounts, he is capable of hearing everything in the world, no matter how quietly spoken, and was therefore also worshipped as a witness and guarantor of oaths and contracts. Shunfeng'er typically appears as a red- or brown-skinned demon cupping a hand to one of his ears.
Both demons depicted in art have a hand raised to a part of their heads or faces which is also similar to the Guardians of Knowledge Door mural.
History:
The brothers "Thousand-Miles Eye in the disguise of a lovely girl, lures men into a cave and then devours them. When With-the-Wind Ear sees this, he starts a fight with Thousand-Miles Eye, but in the end the two monsters pledge to become sworn brothers. Guanyin, seated on Mount Potala, orders the Dragon’s Daughter to tell Mazu to subdue the monsters. With the heavenly warriors helping her, she was able to defeat the two. After that, the two become her loyal servants. First, they help Mazu fight a man-eating lion, and subdue the Evil Dragon Monster Later down the timeline of their legend they would reach the JTTW.
JTTW:
That's right these two were in the JTTW you might have recognized their names in the being for t eJTTW readers if you remember them great for those who don't they were the ones that announced Wukong or just Stone Monkey at the time of birth they were sent by the Jade Emperor to find out why his place got set on fire from two laser beams. They are depicted as personifications of the Jade Emperor himselfs' own hearing and sight. That was why I was saying it would maybe be entering in season 5 if the Jade Emperor is gone and they are a part of him does that mean that they're gone?
Tumblr media
But then again the show might not have gone that route they have changed a lot of the mythology of the original novel. They could have changed that as well I could not see the Jade Emperor personification of two of his senses living on the mortal plane and as kind-loving librarians or ones that play video games.
Notes:
That along with their origins and roles originally based around the sea why in a Desert and Why Librarians, I could see the show editors taking more of the JTTW versions and seeing the beings that personified ears and eyes they must be involved in knowledge right. They can see and hear everything in the world they must be knowledge-based beings.
Also, everyone else in the show so far has some sort of JTTW connection somewhere. The two must follow that formula.
But if I'm right then these two were literally the first ones to see newly hatched Wukong. So many questions.
Tumblr media
Thank you
Hope you enjoyed :)
PS: how I thought of this well I was watching VR gameplay of
The Pirate Queen: A Forgotten Legend
And I saw the red and green statues of the two demons and thought "WAIT............ Hold up.........deja vu ......is that you?!"

𝗡𝗘 𝗭𝗛𝗔 𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗢𝗥𝗬
Tumblr media
I know this theory has been talked about a lot, but I would like to put my own thoughts and opinions about Ne Zha’s age. Of course, Ne Zha died at the age of 12, yet in the series; considered to be a somewhat spin-off/sequel to the Journey to the West novel, he appears to be physically an adult.
Understandably, some people wanted to defend the idea of Ne Zha physically and mentally grown since Journey to the West by using other country’s beliefs of Ne Zha depicted as an adult, however, other countries still depict Ne Zha as a child, and the crew for LEGO Monkie Kid revealed he was canonically a child during Season 4, Episode 5 “The Court of the Yellow-Robed Demon”. This leaves to the question of how he managed to appear older.
I have been pondering on the idea for quite some time, and while going through several posts of people’s headcanons, references from other media depicting the other characters from Journey to the West, I have come to a conclusion.
To support this theory, I will be using Macaque as an example to answer the mystery behind Ne Zha’s sudden ageing in LEGO Monkie Kid. It has become abundantly clear Macaque has a missing eye, and in the Season 3, Episode 8, “Benched”, while trying to retrieve the third Samadhi Ring from Tang, for a split second, the tip of his tail becomes slightly white.
Tumblr media
While going through fanart, people often depict Macaque, having glamorised his looks in order to hide his features (i.e., his scarred eye). Saying that, I believe Ne Zha has adapted to glamorise his child form into an adult form, possibly from wanting to fit his mental age physically and feel comfortable. Macaque so far, hasn’t shown his true form for a prologue time, I believe Nezha can hold his adult form without any difficulty.
𝗠𝗞’𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗢𝗥𝗬
Tumblr media
Season 5 of LEGO Monkie Kid is bound to show Nuwa, or MK’s supposed mother, on the show. Most people are wanting Nuwa to be a loving and caring mother, however, I do not believe that will be the case considering the direction the show is taking on MK’s backstory.
In the Season 4 special “Emperor’s Wrath”, the Kings of Hell in the Underworld are shown to be devising a plan for the upcoming events for Season 5, and personally, I believe Nuwa will be some sort of secondary villain associated with the main plot in Season 5.
I am predicting that Nuwa has some strong connections, or at the very least, is acquainted with the Kings of Hell. Perhaps in the past, the Kings of Hell held a grudge against Sun Wukong after erasing his name from the Book of the Dead.
They weren’t able to change the pages since the paper magically link to the people whose names are written, and possibly, recreating a new set of paper will negatively affect the other people’s mortality; which the Kings of Hell are not willing to risk.
Leading to the Kings of Hell requesting the aid of the creator of humans, Nuwa, since the residents of the Celestial Realm are not going to approve such a dire plan without the approval of the Jade Emperor.
Maybe the Kings of Hell gained Nuwa’s interest throughout a promise with a type of reward at the end of deal, and making her create a lifeform with equal or stronger power than Sun Wukong.
From the flashback in Season 4 Episode 6, “Show Me The Monster'', there were several stone statues of various animals before the creation of MK (hinting there were several attempts to create the perfect lifeform).
Tumblr media
The idea of creating MK as a mystic monkey probably links to the Journey to the West novel, in the chapter where Macaque shapeshifted into the Monkey King and deceives the other pilgrims; and before the reveal of the Six-Eared Macaque, it was stated that the imposter was close to Sun Wukong’s power level, which, I’m assuming, Nuwa took note.
Since Season 4 has hinted that Sun Wukong had some sort of connection with MK before he was created, I am predicting that he possibly knew Nuwa as a friend before she became an acquaintance with the Kings of Hell. Nuwa used that relationship as an advantage to analyse his skills and powers, while discussing using Sun Wukong as a pawn to help MK to be trained by the Monkey King, in order for MK to unlock his powers later in life.
Reasoning why I believe Sun Wukong isn’t aware of Nuwa is supported in the Season 4 special, “Emperor’s Wrath”, when Azure Lion was defeated, Sun Wukong questioned him who set him free from the Scroll of Memory, and Azure Lion had no recollection.
Supporting this theory, judging the age of MK when he first met Pigsy in Season 4, Episode 6, “Show Me The Monster”, he seemed to be around the age of 5 years old, which when he should some remembered of Nuwa or Sun Wukong to some degree, but it’s possibly she must have erased MK’s memories. This might be an ability that she might use in Season 5.
Nuwa must have deceived Sun Wukong somehow to convince him to protect MK when he proves himself to have potential to become Sun Wukong’s successor, not only to allow MK’s abilities to develop and become stronger, but she might also use MK to spy on the Monkey King from afar.
To support this theory, I will use the 5th Anniversary LEGO set of Monkie Kid, as Nuwa is seen to be in disguise while running a jade shop in Megapolis. Perhaps she purposely dropped MK off at Pisgy’s Noodles and lived around the city to observe MK and waited until he was ready to wield the staff. Sun Wukong must have done the same, but without the knowledge of Nuwa’s plan with the Kings of Hell (To learn Sun Wukong’s weaknesses for the sake of devising a plan).
In the pilot episode of LEGO Monkie Kid, “A Hero is Born”, MK needed to deliver some noodles to a customer, but ended up dealing with the Demon Bull Family. Perhaps Nuwa also purposely made MK make the trip so that he can find Monkey King’s staff and allow MK to meet Sun Wukong and start training because Nuwa might have a deadline to finish her end of the deal, before the Kings of Hell will take action in Season 5.
𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗖 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗞𝗘𝗬𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Connecting to the last theory, I believe there will be a likely chance that Season 5 will introduce the other mystic monkeys from the Journey to the West novel. Judging from the direction of the LEGO Monkie Kid series, there will be new characters introduced other than Nuwa, considering that Season 5 will focus more on MK’s past, and him learning how to control his monkey powers.
For those who aren’t aware, in the Journey to the West novel, it is canon that there are a total of four mystic monkeys, which includes Sun Wukong (Spirit Intelligent Stone Monkey) and Macaque (Six-Eared Macaque Monkey).
The other two are known as the Red Butt Horse Monkey and the Pass through Arm Ape Monkey (using the translated names from the Chinese characters).
Since the series does slightly alternate the Journey to the West lore, perhaps the Red Butt Horse Monkey and Pass through Arm Ape Monkey were created before Sun Wukong and Macaque, and the idea of MK being a new mystic monkey existing in the LEGO Monkie Kid show does bring their attention and they will contribute to the main conflict of Season 5 (Perhaps they know much more about the upcoming conflict with the Kings of Hell and MK’s monkey power awakening).
This prediction might be a bit of a stretch, but since MK’s monkey powers will most likely be one of the main focuses for the plot of Season 5, I believe these two monkeys are willing to become an influence; both negatively and positively.
Reasoning for this prediction is connected to the fact that the Red Butt Horse Monkey is known to have the ability to avoid death and lengthen its life, which I believe might lead the show to make an alliance with Nuwa and the Kings of Hell.
Meanwhile, the Pass through Arm Ape Monkey might be helping MK through his glitching when it comes to his monkey form, and might have more knowledge about dealing with  MK’s problem than Monkey King.
To support this theory, in Season 4, Episode 7, “Pitiful Creatures”, when Wukong first sees MK’s glitching, he looks like he doesn’t look like he know how to deal this side-effect of unlocking the monkey powers, considering that Sun Wukong and Macaque were already created as monkeys and were able control their powers.
The Pass through Arm Ape Monkey might have known of MK’s existence through the battle against Azure Lion in the Season 4 special, “Emperor’s Wrath”, as the sky and the whole world was breaking apart, and since the Pass through Arm Ape Monkey can manipulate the moon and stars.
It could be the reason why the Red Butt Horse Monkey told Nuwa and the Kings of Hell about MK’s powers.
Tumblr media
I don’t have anything else to say about this theory/prediction. However, if the series doesn’t show them, there HAS to be some influence, Easter eggs, etc. connecting to these mystic monkeys.
𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗗𝗘𝗠𝗢𝗡 𝗕𝗨𝗟𝗟 𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Tumblr media
Aside from Sun Wukong and Macaque having their pasts explored, the series does have the Demon Bull King appearance in these flashbacks since he was once a member of the Brotherhood, first revealed in Season 4, Episode 2, “New Adventures”, as everyone is discussing who will be the next Jade Emperor after overthrowing the current one.
From this single flashback alone, DBK was shown to be a good guy, fighting alongside his sworn brothers for they thought was right, and it does beg the question: What made him change his morality from good to bad?
In the pilot, Season 1, “A Hero is Born”, he is first introduced as the main antagonist whose goal is to conquer the world, and suddenly Sun Wukong traps him under a mountain despite DBK being his sworn brother. This minor detail is very unusual considering that in Season 3, Episode 10 “The Samadhi Fire”, showcases Sun Wukong, Demon Bull King and Ne Zha helping to separate the Samadhi Fire from Redson as a child.
Judging from this scene, the event must have taken place post to the Journey to the West, as the Monkey King isn’t wearing the circlet, as most of the flashbacks which are taking place in the Journey to the West shows him wearing the circlet given from Tang Sanzang. The pilot does show Sun Wukong wearing the same suit of armour as in Season 3, Episode 10 “The Samadhi Fire”, and it's strange how the Monkey King went from helping the Demon Bull King to fighting him.
Tumblr media
Either something happened between the events of removing of the Samadhi Fire and the events occurred in the pilot, or off-screen there was some conflict between the two, but set a temporary truce to help Redson with the Samadhi Fire.
The most assumed event that could pinpoint the morality change of the Demon Bull King would be when he and Princess Iron Fan met during the battle against Heaven. However, I highly doubt that. Since this event took place before the birth of Redson, and if Demon Bull King and Sun Wukong didn’t have conflict during this time period, then this accusation would be inaccurate.
This wasn’t a theory or a prediction, however, I REALLY do feel like talking about this since it’s been bugging me for quite some time. I hope that Season 5 will be able to resolve this plot hole and perhaps it might correlate with the main plot of the next.
While I do hope, I also doubt it since the Demon Bull Family has not had much screen time in recent seasons. But simultaneously, I bet there will be a chance since the new 5th Anniversary LEGO set does display Redson working at the BBQ restaurant in Megapolis, so maybe a slim chance.
I was going to talk about Peng and Erlang working together in Season 5, considering the current conflict with the Monkie Gang and Peng, and due to the fact that Erlang is a cousin? Brother? Or a family member of the Jade Emperor according to the Journey to the West novel, and wanted to avenge his death.
(Probably ignore this one, this was a last minute theory)
But I didn’t know what else to talk about and it does seem like the two will be working on their own.
Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the theories that I have come up with. I haven’t gotten the chance to re-watch all of the episodes of LEGO Monkie Kid, so I mostly relied on my memory. Leave some comments about your thoughts and theories of the series or what will happen in Season 5.

this is my rough lmk timeline for pre show events
Tumblr media
Rules in place
In show evidence immediately trumps JTTW evidence
images shown while someone is telling a story are unreliable for evidence
flashbacks shown at the beginnings of episodes with no cannon pov are accurate
This seems like a lot but let’s get into the implications of these placements
Macaque never knew redson and neither did anyone in the brotherhood
DBK still let the pilgrims help with his son even after Wukong killed two of their sworn brothers (I have a feeling that was akward
the pilgrims still hung out post journey
it’s completely possible that Azure brought up Macaque during the battle and Sun Wukong still killed him.

I'd say I'm becoming a nerd, but that ship sailed a long time ago. I guess I'm just expanding my nerdiness to other areas.
Anyway, MORE MYTHOLOGY!
So in Journey to the West, the Buddha explains that there are 4 'spiritual primates' that don't fit into any categories for immortals or types of creatures. Fans of Lego Monkie Kid are likely familiar with 2, the Stone Monkey Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque. The other 2, the Long-armed Gibbon and the Red-Buttocked Baboon are a lot more obscure. They only get a brief mention in JttW because the focus of the chapter they appear in is Macaque, but the idea of a set of super powerful Immortal monkeys is just too fun to pass up, you know? So I've been thunking my thinker.
What if each primate was associated with a different realm (mortal, heavenly, lunar, and underworld) and element? I know the 4 elements (earth, water, wind, fire) are a western idea rooted in alchemy and eastern mythology has 5 elements (earth, water, fire, metal, wood), but there aren't 5 monkeys and this is just a thought experiment and not me trying to force western ideas onto eastern culture.
Got it? Good.
Now, Sun Wukong is very solidly earth because he's, you know, a rock. No surprise there. He was also born in the mortal realm and spent most of his life there, so we'll call him the celestial primate of the mortal realm while we're at it.
The Six-Eared Macaque is another easy one. A lot of LMK fannon associates him with wind, inferring that his heightened hearing has something to do with wind magic. He's also very closely tied to the moon because of the line in "Shadow Play" where he directly compares the Warrior (himself) to the moon. So Macaque is the celestial primate of wind and the Lunar realm.
Now here's where we get a bit more speculative and start using information creatively. There are 2 monkeys, realms, and elements left I want to use, so let's start with the monkeys so everyone has a baseline understanding.
The Long Armed Gibbon (Gibs, from now on) is described as being able to "seize the sun and moon, shorten a thousand mountains, distinguish auspicious from inauspicious, and manipulate planets and stars."
The Red Buttocked Baboon (Babs for short) has "knowledge of yin and yang, understands human affairs, is adept I'd daily life and can avoid death and lengthen its life."
Starting with the realms because they seem easiest to assign, I would give Gibs the Heavenly realm because of its ability to move around celestial objects like the sun, moon, planets, and stars. This leaves the Underworld to Babs, which I think fits nicely because their "knowledge of yin and yang" and "understand[ing] of human affairs" would make them a good assistant to the 10 Kings of the Underworld.
Next comes the 2 remaining elements, water and fire, which are a bit tricky because it could go both ways.
Gibs could be fire because the sun and stars are giant balls of burning plasma, but also water because the sky/heavens are often associated with an ocean or other bodies of water in several different mythologies. For example, in Egyptian mythology, Ra sailed his boat through the sky every day, while in early Abrahamic belief the sky was a huge dome with water on the other side, and rain happened when floodgates were opened to let the water through. In Chinese myth specifically, the Milky Way is often depicted as a river that is sailed through by various deities.
Babs could fit with fire as well because underworlds and hell-adjacent places are often shown to have fires to torment and punish the sinful dead, no surprise there. But there is surprisingly a lot of water symbolism in the realm of the dead as well. For example, some people may be familiar with the Japanese idea of the Sanzu River, very similar in concept to the Greek River Styx, as well as the Chinese Huang Quan/Yellow springs.
Personally I would pair Babs with fire because he has red in his name, making him the celestial primate of fire and the Underworld.
That leaves Gibs to be the celestial primate of water and the Heavenly realm.
I feel pretty good about this, but if anyone else has other ideas I'd love to hear them.

So....you know how people got a bit upset over MK not really knowing how Wukong got his title as a monkey king and that in the pilot he had this book about his whole life?
Why don't I see people talking about the fact that MK didn't know about the Six-eared Macaque? I mean, Mr. Tang surely had to tell him at some point about the other monkey.
That just proves further the fact, that MK never actually read the book, and we saw the proof right in the first season. Most clearly in the episode about clones, where MK was confused as to why Mr. Tang wanted him to blow on his hair. And then in that episode with Macaque. Where the name itself was supposed to make him question the dark monkey.
Correct me if I'm wrong. But if Mr. Tang read Journey to the west, he would've known about the shadow simian and warn MK about him. Does that mean, that neither MK nor Mr. Tang actually read the book? Because, then, they would surely knew about the samadhi fire, its origins and the first wielder as well.

Disturbing thought after reading the Spider Sisters arc of JTTW:
CW for discussions of cannibalism;
So in the book; after the Seven Spider Sisters invite Tripitaka in for some food, they try to trick him into eating human flesh as a cruel prank as they're seducing him. Not only as an insult, but as a tactic - humans who consume (willingly or not) fellow sentient beings get a massive hit to their positive Karma. Like, straight back to Hungry Ghost level. As a monk, if Tripitaka hadn't been wary (for once) of the meal offered to him, he would have not been able to enter the Buddha's domain at all.
Only in times of extreme famine is such consumption excused in the Buddha's eye. One major reason being that eating human flesh was like the super-extreme of desiring meat, and that it caused an addicition in the consumer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not just a cruel joke common to demons, it a calculated move to permanently lower their victim's Karma - likely transforming them into a fellow demon within the next life.
SO
In one of my fave episodes "To Catch A Leaf"; MK gets earthquake-causing hiccups from "cursed meatballs" he ate at a eating competition. His seller is clearly meant to be a demon/spirit who targeted him specifically - likely recognising him as the demon-fighting Monkey Kid.
Tumblr media
MK: "Oh man I so could go for more of those [meatballs] right now!"
Even the creators must have realised an issue here, as the transcript for the episode changes it to "beef balls" instead (angry mooing from DBK and Red Son).
And considering that the Spider Sisters were skillful cooks enough to make human flesh appear like gluten and tofu?
I wouldn't be surprised if the cook who targetted MK slipped something non-kosher into those meatballs.
Or maybe just pork cus his dad's a pig.
Then again it could have been another reason why Sandy decided that he had to get MK to consume a super-rare buddhist flower immediately.
Fun fact; entities who have consumed human flesh in JTTW are said to have a weird stank about them, esp in their breath. SKW notably *does not* have this stank about him (both Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing do, both being eaters of humans prior to joining Tripitaka) but he's able to recognise it in other demons. Kinda like how people who eat a lot of cheese can smell like cheese.
SWK, meets up with the gang after S2: "...MK. Why do you smell like that?"

Monkie Kid S4 Special Spoilers:
Let’s be real, who ever those guys that let Azure out of the scroll defiantly knew this would happen
I feel like they’re kinda similar to LBD in their way of plotting
But I do believe that the entire plan was to get that golden ball of the Jade Emperor’s power
I’ve seen theories about them being the 10 Kings of the Underworld
Who Wukong met and they showed him the book that he scratched him name off of
Macaque even specifically mentions this and aside from just showing how far Wukong is willing to go, it also sets up some backstory to the cloaked figures
Cause one thing that’s interesting about how immortality works in JTTW is that it’s not a one and done.
Wukong has done so many things to make him immortal and they just add a few thousand years to his life
But even the almighty Jade Emperor was technically killed (and aging cause he had black hair in flashbacks but white in the present)
But it seems like Wukong can’t be and that probably angers the Kings of the Underworld
But with the Powers of the Jade Emperor, I’m sure that can make it so Wukong can still be affected by their rules

MK was born a star
So consider this as I have yet to see someone made this theory or if someone did then I want to bring it up to light again-
What if MK was a fallen star? Hear me out, we get plenty of scenes where MK fall so many times throughout the show that my red flag starts waving at the implication. There are two noticeable scenes that spikes my inspiration to create this theory:

From (2x00 - Revenge of the Spider Queen) to (4x00 - The Emperor's Wrath)
And he's constantly saved either by one of his gang or monkey king himself. What if it's implied that he might have fallen off from up above somewhere and landed on flower fruit mountain wherein he was born, then he continues his journey down to megapolis (probably literally tumbling over hence was covered in mud in that one shot lol) and that's where he met Pigsy
If let's say we are going to follow the Goddess Nüwa theory that MK was made from her
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this scenario, she was making a clay molding of a little monkey because it was her duty to keep creating and it slipped off from her fingers that it fell right off from her place. Here's my evidence:

(4x06 - Show me the monster)
We get a cutscene of a clay molded lion hitting the floor which could possibly represent Azure Lion that he fell from grace when the gang defeated him or when he got the powers from the Jade Emperor but this could also be a direct representation of MK falling off from his place up above but in a sad tragedy, it broke in half which pops out little MK - I also think it ties in his amnesia where he couldn't remember where he was from or his parents are.
And that's where the end of my theory goes. I have so many things I wanted to add but I need to form my thoughts before publishing them cuz it's a mess-
“Without question, you were not born from the stone as he was. Who or what you are, even I do not know the answer. But of one thing I am certain. Fate has plans for you. Great plans or foul? Time will tell. ” ―Master Subodhi
