a somewhat swap au of Scarab and Prismo. i say somewhat because its not just swapping them, i changed a lot of stuff other than just like their jobs. heehoo ok enjoy :]

Prismo -
his [physical] body is "frozen" in time
a bit more calloused over his years of working, but still considered very chill
he usually talks people down so he doesn't have the fight them
the crystal weapon is around his neck
it shoots out like a flashlight
the auras/souls of his victims get trapped in jars
pupils go starry when he does this
So here, Prismo is a god auditor! He's still very down to earth, but after years of fighting and monitoring and capturing, he's a bit worn down. That being said, he's still generally considered to be everybody's pal! The crystal he uses can't store the people he gets, so he has to carry around the jars. Because of this, he can usually only detain like two people at once, maybe three if he pushes it.
Prismo has some resentment about not being Wishmaster, but not the way that Scarab would! He just thinks he could do a better job, but he respects Wishmaster Scarab and just kinda lets it slide. He and Scarab are actually pretty close, and if he's injured or just very bored he'll go bother the cosmic bug.
Things he can do that aren't mentioned are that he can walk on walls/defy gravity, make duplicates of himself, and teleport. Duplicating himself and teleporting takes a looot of energy out of him, and considering that he is perpetually tired, he really doesn't use those abilities a lot.
Scarab -
this form resembles his physical body, but is still just a projection
he can touch stuff, but can't feel anything and can't be hurt/damaged
he's a bit more relaxed, but is still quite strict/rule oriented
the wings of his mask can open up, but usually don't
he is very big :)
the time room is less of a room and more like a never-ending labyrinth of paths
only the truly determined will obtain a wish
Scarab as the Wishmaster is a lot more relaxed than in canon, but due to his nature he is still a bit strict about rules and such. He will explain how exactly a wish will work to those who reach their goal, and if they choose to ignore that, they don't get a second chance. He usually won't go further into detail about the rules, either. This is where Prismo's slight distaste comes from, because he thinks that if he were in Scarab's place he would be nicer about it. That's about as far as that goes, though.
The main entrance that everyone is allowed through(the labyrinth) is infinite, but there is space around it(like a pocket dimension inside of a pocket dimension). Getting into the outside space will lead to the rest of the Time Room, but only Scarab has access to that. He spends most of his time floating in the abyss of the main area. There is no set path to find him, and he will instead come to whoever enters, if they're determined enough.
Scarab does not let people wander freely through the Time Room, so most of the other cosmic entities tend to avoid him because he isn't very fun. Prismo doesn't, though. Unlike anyone else who may enter, if Prismo simply calls out for Scarab, he will arrive almost immediately. Though Scarab has a 3D form, he is still confined to the Time Room, and does not find joy in watching the universes(he only does it if he's reeeallly bored, or if it's necessary). And since he blocks off the rest of the room to anyone else, he never gets any visitors, only mortals looking for his favor.
He doesn't mind the isolation at all, but he does enjoy the company that Prismo offers him. He doesn't mind being secluded, but he gets lonely sometimes. Prismo has many tales of his adventures being an auditor, and Scarab has begun keeping notes on all of them. He looks forward to Prismo's next visit always.
That's about all I have to say about them and their lore, at least as a base to build off of later, so uhhh here's they're color pallets :]

Simon's Inferno; Fionna & Cake and the nine circles of hell
I don't usually do this kind of thing, but I happened to read the first part of the Divine Comedy recently, and after hearing Betty mention wanting to dig to the Devil I've been wondering if there were any deliberate (or accidental) parallels between Dante's Inferno and Fionna & Cake. This is gonna be a self-indulgent exploration of that idea.
If you don't know, Dante's Inferno describes the author's self-insert journey through the different layers of the Christian Hell. Each layer, called a circle, represents a type of sin. It was written in the early 1300s and is where pretty much all modern depictions of Hell originate, including Adventure Time's Nightosphere.
Simon, of course, is the mortal Dante of this story, and the one who makes the journey to the centre of the Earth. Just as we join Dante while he is "lost in the woods" and contemplating sin, we join Simon while he is at a loss about what to do with his life.
Fionna Campbell and the First Circle (Limbo)
The First Circle of Hell is an interesting place, because it is reserved for those who are virtuous and without sin, yet simply didn't know about Christianity. It is full of people who were born too early to have heard of Christ, or born in the "wrong" parts of the world and raised with the "wrong" religion.
Compare this to Fionna's situation. She knows nothing about how the Multiverse works or her world's place within it. She is completely unaware of the illegality of her world's existence, and is innocent in every way, but is still expected to suffer the consequences as if she has sinned.
Inferno is interesting for the fact that it acknowledges how unfair this is. Similarly, we the audience are expected to sympathise with Fionna.
Simon Petrikov and the Second Circle (Lust)
Simon becomes so disillusioned with his world that he mistakenly believes everything will become better if he is able to reunite with Betty again. He is allowing his actions to be swayed on a whim by the mere memory of the woman he loved, and his actions could have dire consequences for those around him.
At a stretch, Choose Goose can perhaps be considered the Minos to whom Simon recounts his sins, although Dante didn't actually end up having to do this.
Cake the Cat and the Third Circle (Gluttony)
Cake is gluttonous in her consumption of everything that Ooo has to offer. Aside from literally overindulging on magic fruit at the market, she is also infatuated with the magical world she has found herself in, and with her new ability to talk.
Simultaneously, we see Prismo being gluttonous in his consumption of Finn and Jake content. He misses Jake, and is addicted to the false relief of watching them play out their past/alternate adventures.
Prismo the Wishmaster and the Fourth Circle (Greed)
The difference between greed and gluttony is sort of narrow, but from what I understand, gluttony represents simple overindulgence, while greed is the more sinister act of hoarding vital resources from others.
Presumably, Wyatt's wish in this episode would have reflected his greedy desire to have Tree Trunks all to himself, and we know he has already done terrible things in pursuit of that desire.
Perhaps Prismo's creation of Fionna World can also be considered an act of greed. The creation of an unauthorised universe is apparently dangerous, but Prismo disregarded this danger. He also disregards the possibility that using Ice King's head as a covert hard drive might be somewhat unethical.
Destiny and the Fifth Circle (Wrath)
Dante depicts two forms of wrath; active wrath, in which the enraged battle above the slimy waters of the River Styx, and passive wrath, in which the sullen sulk beneath its surface. This dichotomy is reflected by Farmworld Finn, who is a passively wrathful agent in a very actively wrathful world. Finn is haunted by past traumas and losses, which have turned him into a person unable to find much joy in the world. Characters like Big Destiny and Peanut, on the other hand, are constantly at the throats of both enemies and allies.
Jay and Little Destiny are both equivalent to Phlegyas, who exists on both sides of the dichotomy and sails the protagonists across the River Styx.
The exit from the Fifth Circle represents a major turning point in Inferno, as Dante and Virgil require the divine intervention of an angel to open the gates of Dis and progress. Simon and our heroes require a similar intervention, which comes in the form of the jewel that lets them reprogram Prismo's remote, opening the gates to the rest of their own journey.
The Winter King and the Sixth Circle (Heresy)
Heresy in a Christian context is the rejection of a core aspect of the Christian faith. This episode shows us a world which rejects a core aspect of what we understand about Adventure Time; that Simon putting on the crown would transform him back into the mad Ice King with no hope of regaining his sanity.
The Winter King himself is the ultimate heretic, because not only does he oppose the doctrine as it is understood, but he knows that the heresy he is spreading is false. He knows that there is no true way to overcome the crown's madness, and he hides from our Simon that he is deflecting it onto Princess Bubblegum.
The Star and the Seventh Circle (Violence)
I mean this one is fairly self-explanatory. The vampire world is the most violent place that our protagonists visit.
Dante divides the sin of violence into several specific parts. One part is violence against neighbours, which is represented in this episode by the conflict between vampires and the rest of the world's inhabitants. Another part is violence against the self, which is reflected by Bonnie and the Star's mutual suicide at the end of the episode.
Violence against God, violence against Nature, and violence against Art are more difficult to pick out among this episode's plot. I mean, Dante himself would probably argue that the gay moments represent sodomy (violence against Nature) but I'm not a homophobe and neither is anyone on the crew.
Jerry and the Eighth Circle (Fraud)
I think this is the only episode for which there is not really a compelling parallel. The Lich was a victim of seduction, since reaching his goal has not brought the satisfaction he expected, but he is not a perpetrator of any kind of fraud. BMO pretends to be Princess Bubblegum I guess.
Slightly more compelling is this episode's b-plot, which features a neglect of duties by Prismo and Orbo that could amount to the fraudulent acts of simony or graft. But this is tenuous.
GOLB's portal, or the entrance to the final circle of Hell, appears within the Lich's resting place which is a giant's coffin. The entrance to the Ninth Circle in Inferno is also flanked by giants.
Casper & Nova and the Ninth Circle (Treachery)
In Inferno, the centre of Hell is the centre of the Earth, and is where Satan resides. Just as Satan inhabits the centre of the Earth, GOLBetty inhabits the centre of Adventure Time's Multiverse, surrounded by asteroids that represent universes, which themselves can be imagined to represent the circles of Hell as I've discussed throughout this post.
Satan's maw is reserved for the greatest traitors in all history, who in Dante's opinion are Brutus and Cassius who led the assassination of Caesar, and Judas who betrayed Christ. The Lich is our Judas. Just as Judas betrayed God by getting His son murdled, the Lich has betrayed God (or "the boss") by seeking to end all life. And just like Judas, he is condemned to an eternity of suffering at Satan's own hands.
The dream sequence at the beginning of Casper & Nova is also a very direct and probably deliberate reference to this circle of Hell. Aside from the three aforementioned traitors, those who commit treachery are frozen in ice in twisted and mangled positions. We see Simon in exactly this situation, when his frozen corpse is stuffed in the freezer. If he had put on the crown he would have been committing a massive act of treachery upon Betty, who sacrificed everything to make sure he would live as himself.
Cheers and the climb to Purgatory
In Inferno, Dante and Virgil begin the climb out of hell with the help of Satan himself. The journey up proves to be much easier than the journey down. The same happens to Simon; he is helped on his way home by GOLBetty, our Satan.
Having journeyed through Hell, our protagonist finds himself back on the familiar surface of Earth, but in a new place. For Dante this new place is Purgatory, where he must come to terms with his own sins. For Simon this new place is psychological but similar; he must reckon with the things he has learned about himself, chiefly his ignorance of Betty's desires and his aimless lust for her company, and move forward to a better place.
Conclusions
I have no education in classical literature and I'm sure all of this comes across as very surface level to someone who's actually studied these things, but I did my best.
Let me know if you've spotted any other parallels, or if you think there's a better way to sync up the various episodes/dimensions with the circles of Hell.
It could be confirmation bias but I think there was at least a little deliberate intent behind some of these parallels. Perhaps I should hold off on reading Purgatorio in case it spoils the potential season two for me...

⭐ Prismo the Wishmaster had always been concerned about the happiness of his dear boyfriend, Scarab. Ever since they got together, Prismo could sense the bitter sadness that radiated from his Scrabby, and he knew that he would do anything to ensure that his beloved was happy again. And so, when Scarab expressed his longing to be reunited with his original lover, Prismo's wizard host, Prismo knew that he had to make it happen.
Despite his fears of no longer existing, Prismo mustered all of his courage and gave Scarab the permission to wake up the Wizard from his enchanted slumber. Although it was a difficult decision to make, Prismo knew that he had to put his boyfriend's happiness above his own fears and worries. He understood that Scarab's love for the Wizard was pure and true, and he couldn't deny him the chance to rekindle their love and Scarab be reunited with his original self.
Prismo helped Scarab locate the Wizard and awaken him from his deep sleep. As the Wizard opened his eyes and saw his long-lost lover, tears of joy streamed down his face. The two embraced each other with such intensity and passion that it was as if they had never been apart. Prismo watched on as he faded away, his heart overflowing with happiness for Scarab and the Wizard.
The lovers were ready to set off into the unknown. However, as they were about to leave the Time Room, Scarab suddenly stopped in his tracks. A flicker of realization crossed his mind. If they left now, Prismo, the one who gave up his life for Scarab's happiness, would never exist again. Scarab's heart sank at the realization that their blissful future together would come at the cost of erasing someone so compassionate from existence. Especially someone that Scarab grew to love as well.
Scarab turned to the Wizard with tears in his eyes and explained his realization. The Wizard, though disappointed, understood the gravity of the situation and they both knew what they had to do. With heavy hearts, they returned to the Time Room and into their shared bed.
They embraced in the bed, sharing a bittersweet moment and a final farewell.
"As much as I want to be with you again..." Scarab sighs shakingly. "It would not be fair to Prismo... He deserves to live and be happy as well."
The Wizard smiles sadly at Scarab, as he holds his hands. "We both made our choices... We could have made better ones... But I don't have any regrets."
Scarab wished he could say the same.
The Wizard gives Scarab a bittersweet kiss. "You were a wonderful experience."
Scarab kisses the Wizard on the head. "You were... everything."
They both closed their eyes... ⭐

And so the first Starlight Initiative event comes to its close for the night.
This was incredibly exciting and heartwarming! It was good to see everyone that showed up -- whether it was limited to appearances within our Discord, fleeting moments in-game, or those that even spent all weekend with us out at the event venue!
I genuinely cannot stress that this event would not be possible without all the kind and generous volunteers that are a part of the team. Whether they joined at the conception of the idea, or during the events thus far! So to the volunteers we have that are on our very own tumblr, and from the bottom of my heart, thank you to @blossomblade, @humblemooncat, @pangolinheart, @scholarlostintime, @irisopranta, @valdiis, @janzoo, @wrenanigans, @ivoryribcage, @phoenshire, @strawbebbynya, @strayingkat, and @bnuuywol! And thank you to all the ones that joined through the Discord that don't have a tumblr as well (that I know of!)! Maybe some of you who are tagged are thinking, "was I worth thanking?"
Yes. The answer is yes.
You believed in the Starlight Initiative to help get it off the ground. Your belief in this project, and much of everyone's excitement poured into it is what motivated me to go forward with it. To the new volunteers that we acquired over the course of the event, I am grateful for you as well! Your belief in this project and wanting to go out of your way to make others smile for the holidays is what makes this project something so amazingly touching to me.
I would have probably given up super easily if no one reached out. I wouldn't have had the drive to continue onward. But your belief in this to reach out is why I genuinely want to recognize and thank you for doing even just THAT. Your belief encouraged me, and we made such an amazing weekend for people who came by.
To everyone else as well, even if you're not a volunteer. It's easy to look at this event on a surface level and feel maybe jaded, incredulous, and skeptical of such an event; "People just giving away free stuff? Because they want to? Okay, what's the catch?"
I'm glad for you. You who believed and trusted in us to fulfill your wishes. You who came and got something. Who showed appreciation for what you got. You who got something for someone else special to you just to make their in-game experience something better.

I also posted this in Discord for everyone that's there, but I feel like it bears repeating for anyone here seeing it for the first time that has come to the event, donated to it, or wanted to help in some way that maybe didn't join our server for whatever reason they may have had.
We have so many people ask: "What can I do in return? / What can I give you in return?"
My answer may differ from some of the volunteers, or otherwise! Though I'd like to implore everyone who has this question in mind to simply repay the kindness forward. Make someone else smile this winter holiday -- no matter what holiday you celebrate! Make someone's winter season that much more enjoyable. Winter is rough for a myriad of reasons, and I feel like there's a lot of emphasis on bringing joy and warmth to others during the season, but sometimes it feels like it's never seen to. If you can and if you're welcome to, just bring a little extra warmth to someone who seems like they need it. ♥

Simon Petrikov & Eternal Recurrence
🏷️ Prismo the Wishmaster/ Fionna and Cake spoilers
Eternal recurrence, or eternal return, is the philosophical concept of time repeating itself in a loop infinitely, occurring the same way over and over again for eternity. It was originally more of a thought experiment, a theory in one of Friedrich Nietzsche's books, and is stated as:
What if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness, and say to you, "This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your life will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence"
So, boiled down to its easiest point, you experience everything over and over again in an infinite loop, and the way you react shows who you are on the most interpersonal level.
Simon has lived through similar conflicts time and time again, as well as being at his 'loneliest loneliness' at the time of his character-based episode. He himself even says these exact words after talking about not being able to relate to anyone (representing the loneliness)
"You don't understand, it's all the same for me. Every day is just an unending slog towards.. towards what?"
As Ice King, he fights the same battles. As Simon himself, he gets trapped in the depression of the same pattern every day. Simon's conflict with the crown is a cycle itself as well, always putting it back on to save someone as an act of self-sacrifice. Losing Betty is its own cycle.
The whole point of Eternal recurrence is that everything is meaningless, and that there is no point in fighting against it. So, the only options left is accept it and let the cycles continue as is how everything works or fight it relentlessly.
Simon fought the cycle of the crown relentlessly, anything reminding him of the Ice King should have nothing to do with him or be near him. We see at the end of Prismo the Wishmaster Simon finally excepting the cycle, deciding he has no other option except continue the cycle of self-sacrifice and becoming the Ice King.

I'm gonna say something contentious about this great movie, to my own detriment, but I think it's the truth: Boys love THE HIDDEN. I mean, I also love THE HIDDEN. Everybody who loves a good movie loves THE HIDDEN! It's a huge party with great performances, cool images, and non-stop action. Bitchin' car chases, sick guitar riffs, sci-fi weapons, fucked up parasites, and gun-toting strippers are not inherently gendered fare; they are for everyone. But I think that the way I watch THE HIDDEN is fundamentally different from the way that, say, my husband watches it. He grew up in the New Jersey suburbs in the '80s and '90s, raised with a sense that his natural, god-given culture was cool cars, hot chicks, shootouts, explosions, secret agents, alien invaders, and all this macho material that blasts out of the screen when you watch THE HIDDEN. When my husband and I watch this movie, we may experience a similar level of pleasure, but not for the same reasons. He sees a great movie, but he also sees the greatest expression of what he was raised to believe is an inherent part of his being. He gets a sense of ownership, a feeling of having his own true nature acknowledged, that I can't really touch as a cis het girl who was raised as such—and I've noticed this every time I watch THE HIDDEN with the dudes in my life. They get a sense of social patriotism from it, a feeling of unity, and an affirmation of the most basic tenants of their cultural identity. And I think that's totally great.
So anyway, THE HIDDEN is the best movie by director Jack Sholder, unless you understand that WISHMASTER 2 is the greatest movie ever made, or unless you are doing contrarian hot takes on the quality of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 just to point out that it's not as bad as its homophobic haters insist that it is. Without knowing for sure, I'd bet it's also the best movie from Bob Hunt, who also wrote THE BOOGENS. THE HIDDEN is a buddy cop movie in which hardboiled cop Michael Nouri and obvious space alien Kyle MacLachlachlan and hunt an intergalactic parasite with a taste for fast cars, rock'n'roll, and ultraviolence. It resembles ELM STREET 2 in its focus on male bonding and male fears around bodily vulnerability. It resembles WISHMASTER 2 in being an uninhibited, imaginative, balls to the wall good time. THE HIDDEN is fun, funny, and oddly moving, and it's basically only going to put you off if you hate joy.
It's easy to be distracted by the high octane spectacle of this movie, but it is also beautifully cast and performed. Kyle MacLachlan is typically wonderful and he has great chemistry with Michael Nouri, but the parasite also gives us a string of great performances from its hosts. My personal favorite is William Boyett, a lantern-jawed square who usually showed up in movies and shows about cops, cowboys, spies, and other GI Joe types, and his straight-laced appearance is a perfect foil for the extreme antisociality of the parasite, who totes around a boombox blasting shedding rock music on its relentless crime spree. Other standouts include Twin Peaks alum Chris Mulkey, Claudia Christian from MANIAC COP 2, and last but not least, Jake the dog from NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4.
I don't really have anything deep to say about THE HIDDEN besides the sociological observation that I led with. But, even though I maintain that it offers a delightful and, all things considered, not particularly toxic reflection of American masculinity, I should underline that THE HIDDEN is definitely for everyone. Watch it today to turn off your brain and boost your mood.

400 Words on WISHMASTER [1997] ★★★½
One of the most frustrating things a horror film can do is create rules and then ignore them. Since the earliest days of horror cinema when the threat of sunlight and crosses kept vampires at bay, internal logic kept the genre ticking. Violate a film’s internal architecture and the entire thing comes tumbling down. Consider David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows (2014), a film about a supernatural sex demon that can’t be killed…right up until the protagonists kill it. (Don’t @ me about the last shot; they stopped something that couldn’t be stopped because they shot it hard enough.) You can also measure the quality of the great slasher franchises based on when they threw out their villains’ original rules (e.g. when Jigsaw started making traps victims couldn’t theoretically escape and when it was revealed that Michael Myers was supernaturally powered). Robert Kurtzman’s Wishmaster understands that the internal logic for monsters is sacrosanct, and it features one of the best slasher villains of the 90s by creating a monster whose very existence explicitly depends on following rules: an ancient djinn with literally infinite power that can only use any of it to grant someone’s wishes. Naturally, it wants to conquer the world, but it can only do so through twisted benevolence, stretching people’s wishes to the brink of interpretation to make them backfire or cause chaos. This is best demonstrated in a scene where the Djinn (Andrew Divoff) approaches the security guard of a building he needs to enter and goads him into making a wish. The security guard replies “I wish you’d go away” and the Djinn, flustered, helplessly turns around and starts walking away…right up until the guard sarcastically jeers that he wishes he’d try to go through him and the Djinn complies in the most horrific way imaginable. That’s the joy of Wishmaster: it’s a game to see if the audience can out-think and out-predict what the Djinn will do and how he’ll do it. The film itself is a joyous ode to schlocky, ultraviolent horror with Kurtzman—known primarily as a special effects makeup artist—using his budget and runtime to flex his practical effects chops. Though some scenes are inevitably polluted by pre-Matrix CGI effects, the majority are achieved through excellent creature work, makeup, and costuming that still holds up. Is it high art? No. Is it entertaining as Hell? Definitely.

"Little Morning Star...you have told yourself that so many times...so many nights spent crying alone with no one to comfort you. Smiling at your Daddy when he bothered to show up. He leaves so quickly after doesn't he? I can make sure he stays . if you wish I will make sure you never are sad. You will be with you Daddy and brother..your sister and your buir...your pup. All happy if you wish."
Her light is fading as the creature continues, just a bit more and she will snuff out into a deep pleasant sleep....
"I want to be happy..." she whimpers, "I want to smile again without practicing...I want my family to be together again." she looks up at the creature, " I want to make a wish..."

When Prismo returns, how would the Wishmaster feel about Scarab giving up his original love (aka Prismo's host) so that Prismo could live? How touched would Prismo be? Would Prismo try not to cry, or would Prismo burst into tears of joy? X'D

Prismo would probably be absolutely gobsmacked/shocked that Scarab let go of Wizmo and decided Prismo living was more important than his and Wizmo's love. A thousand questions (and most go unanswered) kinda shocked.
Then, he might be bittersweet. The reason being because he gave up his life so Scarab could have Wizmo back, a act so kind and loving all so that Scarab would be happy, only for Scarab (Wizmo too) to throw it all away.
When Scarab tells him the reason he left it all behind, left his happiness with his old love behind (because we will be doing no miscommunication now), Prismo would definitely be bursting into tears. Tears for days, probably.
Scarab repayed Prismo's selfless sacrifice with a sacrifice of his own. Scarab let go of his past, his once long desired happiness, everything, all so Prismo could live and be happy too. And Prismo would be more than touched.
No, they've both started from a blank slate. Whatever happens in the future, they'll both face it together. Prismo would forever try to make Scarab happy, and Scarab would move on and live his life alongside Prismo. Course, he'd visit Wizmo in the basement, dealing with grief, but Prismo would be there. After all, Prismo knew what grief was.
Anon, please, from the depths of my shattered soul, give them a happy ending. Please don't hurt the boys (and me, you're a savage) any longer. THEY NEED THEIR HAPPY ENDING! PLEASE!
