you people are actually sick in the head *edit: actually have worms for brains if you don’t see that this entire trial was a form of revenge and a pr move on depp’s part to globally humiliate his ex-wife with bogus allegations and by forcing her to testify in a televised trial (which depp requested) about her sexual assault.
the man has harassed this woman through the courts for 4 years, and caused her financial difficulties by causing her to spend up to 6 million in legal fees, as well as smearing her reputation so she can hardly ever work again.
that he is demanding money that he knows his ex-wife doesn’t have, is, in fact further financial abuse from a man who would get angry at her for working and who often made her swear to not take movies or meetings while they were together.

Pretty depressing that we live in a world where far more people are willing to believe that a 24 year old woman got married to a man 25 years her senior, all so, over the course of 7 years. she could meticulously gather fake evidence of abuse (including diary entries, corroborating texts and photos), convince a bunch of witnesses to lie under oath and goad her then husband into admitting to headbutting her on tape in an elaborate Gone Girl scenario to… *checks notes* write one line in an op ed, than it is for people to believe a rich powerful man with a documented history of substance abuse and violent outbursts hit his wife.

Over half of anti-Heard tweets were bots or paid trolls, many linked to Saudi government bots.
"According to an investigation by Tortoise Media, which examined more than one million tweets, more than 50 per cent of anti-Heard messages in the run-up to the 2022 defamation case were "inauthentic' - either from automated "bot" accounts or people hired to attack the actress."
"Bradley Hope, author of a book on Bin Salman, told the podcast that the pro-Depp tweets emanating from Saudi Arabia appear to be produced by "flies", a name for Saudi bot accounts."
"An intelligence professional who tracks online disinformation campaigns, said there was only a "0.1 per cent chance" that the hate directed at Heard was from genuine Depp fans.
The investigation also claims that bot networks in Thailand and Spain tweeted large numbers of pro-Depp messages."

it would have been one thing for depp and heard to both lose the defamation case and the defamation counterclaim. that i could understand, and would, arguably even, prefer.
but for depp to win this with a unanimous verdict is incomprehensible to me like... to do so he would have to prove both that the statements were not true (there is a lot of evidence, including witnesses to the abuse, that it did happen), that they were made with malice (heard had a lawyer actually look over the op-ed and followed all instruction), as well as proving damages (depp has been losing money for years, he showed up to set late and drunk/high, his movies were a flop, he assaulted people on set and in fact has an upcoming lawsuit, he blew cash by the millions recklessly on ludicrous things)
nothing about this unanimous verdict makes sense b/c even if you believed the first or second, there is no question that hollywod has no problems working with abusers and will cover for them! this is well known! the implication that an op-ed which didn’t name depp, which largely flew under the radar, and which disney itself didn’t take note of or knew about, was the thing to destroy his career and not his addiction, his behaviour on set and the lawsuits both brought against him and by him is insane!
the man ruined his own career, no one had to do it for him!

But Johnny Depp didn’t just sue Amber Heard, he forced a trial in a Virginia court (where neither Heard nor Depp lives) to not only take advantage of provisions in defamation law in that state that support abusers but because the courts there would be more likely to stream the proceedings for the entire world to see.
Johnny Depp sought to make this trial as public as possible so that he could marshall the full force of his PR team, his obliviously loyal fanbase, and a court of public opinion that favors powerful men like Depp so that he could re-abuse Heard all over again. This is not about $50 million (Amber Heard doesn’t even have $50 million). Johnny Depp is using the court system as a form of abuse itself. He is using this trial to humiliate Amber Heard, to further turn public opinion against her, and rally his massive fanbase against her. “Let’s burn Amber!!! Let’s drown her before we burn her!!!” Depp once told Paul Bettany in a 2013 text. “I will f**k her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she’s dead.” Nine years later, that’s exactly what Depp is using the American court system to do.

I want to reiterate that I greatly enjoyed the anime but were absolutely robbed of David becoming a construct for a handful of reasons, most of which boiling down to:
David and Johnny vibing in Mikoshi together for a year so they could bond over the fact that they both assaulted Arasaka Tower in an attempt to save their netrunner girlfriends and got absolutely wrecked by Adam Smasher for their troubles.
David meeting V at some point after the Temperance ending and being utterly flabbergasted that they managed to take down Smasher with significantly less cyberware than he was packing and made it look like a walk in the goddang park.

regardless who is the abuser can we not write fanfics based on abuse trials like i feel like i shouldnt have to explain how disgusting that is.
this is what im talking about, johnny depp isnt a blorbo. amber heard isnt a character. the trial isnt some sort of fun court room drama its real life.
