Joe Jackson was something else. I honestly think he resented his children because they "ruined" his chances of becoming a professional boxer and a musician, and he was envious that they became successful at something he couldn't do himself. He treated them like they were his meal ticket out of poverty. I also think he was unnecessarily cruel to his children: forcing them to refer to him as "Joe" and not "daddy", calling them names, the physical abuse - you don't have to scare your children for them to respect you. And don't even get me started on how he had a 25 year affair with another woman, moved her near the Jackson family home, and had a child (born on Michael's 16th birthday no less) who was the only one who was able to call him daddy, but the others couldn't! 🗑
(Look how uncomfortable Michael is in this interview with him)
