In:Verse Ch2: Discovery

You tried to recall. What happened? You were just a manager in a Kpop company who got along well with a lot of the female idols. How did you lose everyone but gained so much? That was when it hit you. Last night, you were with Yurai, the first member of your harem, when 2 people suddenly appeared in your room, Seohyun and Kyungri. Seohyun claimed that she was the human goddess of knowledge and love while Kyungri claimed she was the Succubus queen. 

They said you were lucky and that I didn't know anything about the girls in your harem. That you were just letting out my urges on them. So they offered you a deal. All the wealth and knowledge you could ever need in exchange for your entire harem. You thought it was just some dumb prank and accepted, saying you could win them all back. They laughed at your hubris and made an extra clause. If you could get them all back and satisfy all their needs, they would grant you anything you wanted. 

You still couldn't believe the situation. There's no way this was real. You looked for hidden cameras in the room but you couldn't find any. You continued to fiddle with your phone. You wanted to browse the internet but there wasn’t a Chrome icon. As you pressed the apps randomly, you managed to find the browser which was called Nabi.If this was a prank, you thought to yourself, it was very elaborate. Even the news being shown matched nothing you were familiar with. There were no signs of any of the political figures you know of. As you continued in your confusion, you received a message on what appears to be a messaging app called Quilava, although the icon was not one  were used to.

"Hey oppa, I hope you've reconsidered keeping that pile of digital trash around. I'm coming over tonight with some dinner. Chu ;)" 

You stared at the message. The sender was named “Jendukie”. This can't be that girl can it? She was so sweet and accepting of everyone where you were from. She wasn't one of the girls in your harem but she was one of your sex friends. Nothing emotional, just pure desire. She was good friends with Joohyun in your world and although Joohyun hated you, you did get along well with Jennie. Was it just all a lie?

As you pondered the situation, you felt a warm body lean against yours. “Sorry I passed out. It was just too intense for my first experience,"  She looked at your face for a moment. "You look stressed. Can I help in any way?” she asks sweetly which really soothes you although it will take some getting used to

“This might sound weird but is this jenduekie in my contacts list Kim Jennie? The famous Kpop idol from the group BlackPink?” You asked Joohyun which gave you a confused look in return.

“Erm...I’m not so sure about that but it does refer to Miss Kim Jennie, your subordinate in your company. “ She says with an uncomfortable tone which confuses you. If this was Jennie, Joohyun and her would be close friends. 

“You don’t sound too happy,Joohyun. Is something wrong?’ you asked her.

“I guess the actual Ray from this world is really gone.” She says with a bit of sadness. “I was told last night that it would be his last day but I didn't think it would be true.”

You put your hand on her shoulder. It never occurred to you that if you were brought to this alternate world through magic or whatever, something had to happen to the one that was here in the first place. 

“It’s okay. He told me about it but I didn't believe him either. He bought me specifically as a final gift to his replacement. “ She pulled out a screen from mid air which surprised you and she flipped her screen to you. “This might not mean much to you but this is a contract which was made between the two of us. Even though you are not the one from this world, from what was told to me by the original Ray, His body never died. Only his spirit was taken by the goddess and was  replaced by yours so this contract is still valid and it means i will always be loyal to you unless you decide otherwise.”

Despite having confirmation, you still couldn’t believe it. Even if you were a big fan of Japanese media and games, and you were familiar with characters being transported to other worlds in such media, this was difficult for you to fully accept. But if this was true, Joohyun was the only one who knew about this and the only one around who could give you the information you needed.

“Since you already know, I don’t have to hide it from you. Can you explain what my relation to Jennie is in more detail and what kind of person she is?”

You saw some hesitation in her eyes. Although she is loyal to you it seemed like Jennie brings some fear to Joohyun which you weren’t a fan of. You pulled Joohyun close and hugged her before kissing her forehead. “It’s okay Joohyun. I’ll protect you from Jennie if she tries to do something to you. But before I can protect you, I need you to trust me and tell me about Jennie.”

If nothing else, your charm is still something you can rely on. After 5 minutes, Joohyun nods. “Jennie is your subordinate in the company but more like a personal assistant. She is second in command in your department and is effectively in charge now that you have been provided with a more advisory role as reward for your years of service.”

You moved Joohyun so you could get more comfortable lying against the headrest of the bed before allowing her to continue. “ That is what I know officially. But from the other you, I was told you didn’t really like her but only put up with her as a front.”

You gave her a puzzled look. “Oh why is that? Is she someone important?”

Irene gave you a nod. “Yes. She is the daughter of one of the members of the other departments. Although she started in the company from a low position, she made her way up the ladder and arrived at her current position.”

You nodded at her explanation. “If that was the case, she sounds like a hard worker. Why did the other me have a problem with her?”

She gave a soft sigh as if conflicted. “ Yes she is a hard worker but the other you didn’t like her because she grew up pampered and has a princess attitude which annoyed the other you. She always clinged onto you by any means possible. 

This sounded familiar to you but being clingy doesn’t sound like too big a problem. “Was there anything else i didn’t like about her?”

Irene nodded. “She also has some discrimination against us who were digitized. She always treats digitized women as if we are trash and because of safety considerations, we can’t go against her .

Irene suddenly shuddered and you have her a hug to comfort her. “I can see why you are not a fan of her. “

Irene shook her head at your statement. “Actually, why she scares me is because the few times i've seen her, she always had at least two Digis with her and they’re always blindfolded and deafened on all fours with ball gags. I’m afraid when you're not looking she might do something to me and take me away as well. “

You gave Irene a puzzled look. “What is a Digi?”

“I’m sorry, I forgot you weren’t familiar with the terms yet. Digis refer to people like me. It is just a shortening of the word digitized and is often a term used to refer to us.“

Joohyun looks genuinely afraid right now and you hugged her. “It’s okay you;re mine right? As long as I'm around she won;t be allowed to lay a finger on you.”

Joohyun nods and leans into your chest. “I know oppa...Sorry I meant Ray. I’m just paranoid when I see how she treats them. One is always her chair and the other is to pleasure her. She also always has a whip with her and when they don't perform she isn't hesitant to use it. “

You kissed Joohyun’s forehead again. You remember from your world that Jennie had a slight reputation of being a bitch and princess on stage but when she was off stage she was a sweetheart. You recalled something about what the goddess and succubus said was that the girls in this world are similar to the ones in my own except they are truthful to their own desires. If that is true you knew a secret about jennie and that was she wanted someone to control her. If the Jennie in this world was not so forthcoming with her desire, this might be a roundabout way to irritate someone to the point that they dominate her. There was only one way to find out. 

“Joohyun you said you were loyal right? Would you do anything for me?’ you asked Joohyun and she nods slowly. “You might have changed but i think i can trust you. So yes i will.”

You nods as you looked at  her. You wanted to see if what she was saying was true. “Then first, instead of Joohyun can i call you Irene from today onwards?” She tilted her head and nods. “Yes of course Ray. May i ask why though?’

You pet her head. “There was a girl from my girl who looks just like you she is famous and performs on stage so she used the name Irene. And also just call me comfortably. It feels like theres a distance between us whenever you call me Ray.”

She gave another nod.”I understand...oppa” she blushed as she called you that and you couldn't help how adorable she was.

You spent the next hour familiarising yourself with the layout of the house which is vastly different from how you've been living in your original world where this house was a penthouse suite and the one you used to be living in was just a 1 room apartment. You then proceeded to the living room and watched the TV with Irene lying on your lap which you had to admit the docileness of her was very nice and played with her hair lazily as you ponder on your next moves.
