I have so much to say about Album so I’m just going to start typing and see where it goes.
This drawing is based on The Protector, which is,,,,,, aaaaaa. Jason Sweettooth Williams does really amazing, he conveys the emotion so well in this recording, it's insane. Also the music is so good. Literally gives me shivers.
In my understanding this song is about a father who had some bad experiences in his childhood when he tried to seek comfort in various unhealthy coping mechanisms, and he doesn’t want his kid to go through the same thing so he tries to make sure they feel safe. Because the ‘protector’ that they need isn’t someone to fight off bad guys, it’s someone who will make sure they feels safe and loved and cared for, to protect them from what they might do to themselves. But the father hasn’t quite figured this out, he gets close to understanding in the song, but he’s still so scared and desperately doing everything he can to protect his child. Like telling them to avoid certain places - presumably places where he has had bad experiences. But it wasn’t because the places are dangerous, it was because he was vulnerable as a kid and didn’t have someone to help him navigate the world. The main thing is that he wants the child to know that he will always protect them, no matter what.
This a bit vague but point is this song is really good and listening to it has had an effect on me. Thank you Joe Iconis thank you Jason Sweettooth Williams.

RANDOM THINGS FROM BE MORE CHILL BROADWAY THAT I REALLY LIKE: CLIPS

Act 1:
The SQUIP telling the audience not to record (x)
Jeremy looking exhausted the moment he walks onto the stage (x)
The bus effect during More Than Survive (x)
The way Christine acts when Jeremy is singing about her, 1. (x) and 2. (x)
Jeremy seeming to agree with Christine’s ‘touch of ADD’ (x)
“There’s also a part of me that wants to do this!” (x)
Mr Reyes explaining the play (x)
Jake slapping his bicep (x)
“Leave me alone, I’ve had a bad day!” (x)
Rich flopping onto his back and Jeremy leaving him there to die (x)
Jeremy quietly whispering “drugs” (x)
Michael’s whole thing with Crystal Pepsi (x)
Michael’s shimmies during “cool in college” (x)

The spin thing Jeremy and Michael do at the end of Two Player Game (x)
The box of squips being the only light source on stage (x)
Intro to BMC Part 1 (x)
Jeremy exaggerating while following the SQUIP’s directions (x)
“LOOKANG PRETTAY SEXAY BROOKUH” (x)
Chloe breaking a hanger at the mention of Madeline’s name (x)
“She is a life 👏 ru 👏 in 👏 er 👏 uh 👏” (x)
Brooke slapping Jeremy with her straw (x)
Jeremy trying to floss (x)
Chloe kicking away Christine’s backpack (x)
The whole Bowling Alley Performance Art scene (x)
Jeremy lifting Christine toward the end of A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into (x)
“Eminem is dead?!” (x)
“I’m tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am” round (x)
“Sever your ties, or you both drown.” (x)
All of Loser Geek Whatever (x)
Act 2:
Brooke talking about why she likes Halloween (x)
“Right, I’m Prince!” (x)
The SQUIP dancing with the students during Halloween (x)
Chloe falling backwards onto Jake’s parents’ bed (x)
The SQUIP face planting onto the bed (x)
“Yeah, unless you use it like you!” (x)
“I’m having my period!” (x)
All of Michael in the Bathroom (x)
Christine talking about her feelings on her costume (x)
“Seriously, where the FUCK can I get some Mountain Dew Red?!” (x)
Christine’s pucking pun (x)
Christine and Jeremy vocally stimming (x)
Christine simply saying no, followed by ‘I’m sorry’ instead of explaining why she turned Jeremy down (x)
The SQUIP entering with a “hello, Jeremy” after Jeremy’s had the worst night of his life (x)

Final notes:
I’m sorry this took me so long! Even after collecting all the clips, it was just really tedious to organize them and list them, and at one point I accidentally closed the app without saving so I lost a ton of progress. Plus, I’ve just been kinda busy. But! It’s here now!
If you’d like any other moments from the show clipped, I can do that for you! I can also clip most (not all) of these from a different video that’s not from closing night. This one zooms in on the characters more, so I’d be able to get clearer shots. Just let me know, I’ll grab it for you, no problem, as long as it’s not closing night exclusive.
Thanks for your patience, and I hope you enjoy!

i die a little inside when I hear the broadway version of bmc, not because i hate it (bc i think ppl hate on it WAY too much), but because there are so many good little changes
like during ‘the play’
christine sings jeremy’s name the way he sings christines name throughout the whole duration of the musical :’) it’s so cute, but its also so heartbreaking
not to mention the funny things jason tams version of the squip does, for example during ‘do you wanna hang?’
when he says “you’re welcome~” to jeremy it sounds like he’s stoned, it’s awesome. (his voice reminds me of chad from lordminion777/wade barnes′s GTA roleplay on TSRP lolol)
along with tiffany manns version of jenna rolan, she seems a little less aloof than the og and also a bit more silly/joking, plus her riffing in pitiful children?? so freaking awesome
not to mention the addition of jason sweettooth williams to the cast from joe iconis family was amazing for me
and i LOVE britton smith as jake, he portrays him a little more sweeter than the two river version (which i love just as much) and theres a little more give to his character
which brings up how, though I love the original menacing version of ‘upgrade’, i love mutual distraught realization of change among the student body leading into ‘loser geek whatever’
and that version of ‘upgrade’ and the whole song ‘loser, geek, whatever’ was all underlyingly there in the original verison when jeremy pauses to answer (or even fully acknowledge) michael being excited for him before making a decision on making the deal/taking the upgrade, in the lines,
“and i wasn’t sure before, but now i wanna go all the way and more”
“tried to be genuine and true but now it’s time for something new”
“really it doesn’t matter how, i’m getting the upgrade right now!”

hey if u only had to listen to one of your songs for the rest of ur life which one would it be
Hey! If the question was “if u only had to perform  one of your songs for the rest of ur life which one would it be?,” my knee-jerk response would be “The Goodbye Song.”
But listening is different. I rarely listen to my own songs for “pleasure” or in any way that could be described as “casual.” If I’m listening to them in the way I would music by artists who are Not me, it’s usually for one of two reasons:
1 I’m in the middle of making the album on which they appear and I want to know the songs inside and out. Either for editing/mixing purposes or just an awareness. When I have a show in rehearsal and previews, I’m around for every moment. By the time it opens, I know every nuance of the live performance and make judgements about the work accordingly. With recorded music, it’s different- everything is less deliberate, you’re recording a huge amount of material in a short period of time and, in my case, under a massive amount of stress. It’s not until I start hearing mixes that I even fully remember what we did in the studio. So, listening obsessively helps me remember and make sense of what’s there.
2 When an album Is released, for the next few weeks I find myself listening to it through the lens of other people receiving it for the first time. Strangers, Family members, artists I respect, anybody. I literally say to myself: “I’m gonna pretend I’m Paul Thomas Anderson listening to this album- what do I think about it?!” (Paul Thomas Anderson, as far as I know, has never listened to my album. But when I was listening to it and pretending to be him, he fucking loved it.)
With all that said, if I had to choose one and only one... I might choose “Last on Land” from Album, but really from Bloodsong of Love. It’s a song that sums up how I feel about art and it’s performed by people I love as artists and humans and they are the people I want to be thinking about forever and ever and ever. Also, it’s long but not too-long, so I think it would be relatively easy listen for all of eternity. It hangs around for a good, warm while but doesn’t overstay it’s welcome.

Another reading is happening at La Jolla from August 1-20, 2022.
With the lineup as is it for Joe’s concert, it looks like George Salazar, Lorinda Lisitza, and Jason SweetTooth Williams are likely reprising their roles as Oscar Acosta, Virginia, and Ralph Steadman in this reading.
This is the first time we can recall that Joe has been listed in the book credits for this show.
