Major Hirotashi asleep in train, Dec 1914.

Found amongst the papers of Major-General Nathaniel Barnardiston. Barnardiston was the Commander of British Forces North China, sent to aid Japan in the capture of Tsingtao from German forces in August 1914.

I'd be interested to know what the writing says if anyone can translate.

A Japanese Type 97 tank - Date and location unknown. Somewhat larger than its predecessors it allowed the use of a 37mm gun rather than a machine gun. Though obsolete by the start of WWII it remained in production because of a lack of a reasonable replacement

Japanese swords (nihontō, katana) differ in the way they are equipped and the direction of the hand when drawing them, depending on the types.

This is a sketch I made when I was drawing a manga and was embarrassed by drawing a katana in the wrong direction and needed to study how to redraw it correctly.
