another time has come to let his welcome banner fly, hoping to make those newly coming into the triple crown kingdom to feel at home as quickly as possible. making food for three new people isn’t nearly as daunting as the last time, where he had to prepare a meal for five people, but it does still require a bit of preparation. he slaves over the kitchen stove, making enough jabchae and kalbi and rice to fill up four lunch boxes (learning from last time to feed himself as well), and places the sticker of his face, along with his name (another learned tactic) on the top of the lid.
he sometimes taken the meaning of ‘free practice sessions’ as a loose interpretation, often dropping off the ‘practice’ from the time slot completely in favor of wandering off to bother some of the other trainees. he doesn’t consider it a waste of time, though—after all, isn’t part of the job getting along with the potential members of any group he might be put into? purposefully ingoring the fact that coed groups aren’t really a trend in the market right now, he ventures off in search of the last new trainee, lunchbox in hand and a skip in his step.
he’s passed by countless numbers of doors when he finally spots her in one of the practice rooms. he barges in rather unceremoniously, knowing it’s already passed the time that she can enjoy the meal for the day, but still adamant at presenting her the welcome gift anyway. “jeon heejin~” he says with a voice not dissimilar to an announcer at one of those fancy parties. “welcome to the triple crown kingdom. i present to you the kingdom’s local specialty…park chanyeol’s home-cooked meals in a box.”
during the brief time in which she’s been a trainee, her body and mind adjusting as well as she could to the changes that came with this new walk of life, heejin had come across a multitude of new faces all spread across a wide spectrum of personalities. it’s interesting, really, colorful characters quickly promising a different sort of stability than what she’s experienced before, even with the history of performing she’s got under her belt. despite this and the slight weariness she tended to hold towards new strangers, each welcome she’s given is one that helps chip away at the superficial walls she’s strewn up around herself, and this instance is no exception.
maybe it’s because it’s already later in the day, practices well underway and attentions slightly dulled during this brief moment of rest. when he makes his entrance, boisterous in a way she hasn’t seen yet ( at least, not yet that day ), she can’t help the way she turns to look at him quickly, hand busy fixing stray hairs back into her ponytail. briefly, she tries to recall if she’s seen him around yet, but she’s not too embarrassed when nothing comes to mind— it makes sense that she’d not recognize him at this point, not when she’s only been a trainee for even less than a week. recognition would come with time, and as far as she was concerned, she had all the time in the world to get to know him.
so, as her hands fall to her sides once her hair doesn’t look as messy, she can feel herself break out into a small, surprised grin, eyes slightly wide with amusement. “that would be me—” she muses, her smile growing a little wider. taking in the sight of his gift, her shoulders relax, his tone only helping her to do so more. “park chanyeol’s home-cooked meals in a box...kinda wish i hadn’t eaten as much as i did earlier, i’ll have to wait and eat it later,” she gives a small laugh. “but, thank you. out of all the welcomes i’ve gotten so far, this might be my favorite.”
another time has come to let his welcome banner fly, hoping to make those newly coming into the triple crown kingdom to feel at home as quickly as possible. making food for three new people isn’t nearly as daunting as the last time, where he had to prepare a meal for five people, but it does still require a bit of preparation. he slaves over the kitchen stove, making enough jabchae and kalbi and rice to fill up four lunch boxes (learning from last time to feed himself as well), and places the sticker of his face, along with his name (another learned tactic) on the top of the lid.
he manages to catch sight of the first one during the lunch hour—a perfect time to enjoy a homemade lunch box. he’s quick to approach her so that he doesn’t lose sight of her, and once he’s within a good distance for her to hear him (admittedly, a marginally further distance than most people), he begins whooping and hollering to get her attention. of course, he’d learned of her name from watching the final part of the last episode of the mgas, and before long, it’s her name that’s occupying the pockets of white noise in the cafeteria.
“hwang yeji~ hwang yeji~” he continues with his raucous behavior even as he gets into a close enough distance she’d be able to hear him at a normal level. he holds his hands out, clutching the lunchbox in his hands for her to take. “welcome to trc~”
upon entering the company one thing that yeji wasn’t expecting at all was this– her name being called by someone that was unfamiliar to her but she figured he was one of the trainees. she could have swore she had seen him on tv during the jeju concert in january but she could be wrong as well.
she isn’t entierly sure how to respond to this behavior, though she is sure it is meant with god intentions and she walks up to him without hesitation, smiling widely at the other as the distance betwen them shortened until she was in a comfortable distance from him. far enough to greet him properly ( which she did, she bowed at the male– formally ). her eyes quickly caught the attention of the lunch box.
“for me?” she asks and takes the lunch box from the male– her eyes widens before they turn into cresents, this was not what she had expected upon entering trc. thinking about it she wasn’t sure she was expecting anything from them. this was a pleasant surprise, “thank you so much,” she tells the male, wrinkling her nose as she realizes he knows her name, from her appearance in the mgas but she doesn’t know his name.
“it is nice to meet you…” she eyes him, wishing he would have introduced himself, “i’m yeji but you already know that, i’m looking forward to being here.”
