You know, Ruruka and Izayoi’s entire relationship and aesthetic is soooo funny to me.

Here’s a candy gajinka lady who’s hyper cute and obsessed with sweets and her talent of making them. Like her entire self-worth is in question since Seiko won’t eat one of her candies. But based on appearances, you’d think she was a sweet, cutesy pink little puffball. But instead, she’s a highly selfish and narcissistic woman with trust and abandonment issues rooted in deep insecurity. She even thinks that her doting boyfriend, Izayoi, doesn’t really love her and will one day just stab her in the back. Which is heartbreaking even more so cos Yoi-chan loves her so much, he’d die to show her that. (Heartbreaking but beautiful. Other malewives could never.)

And as for Izayoi, he looks like an jrpg protagonist and hero who’s about to slay God for being unfair or something. But no. He’s Ruruka’s handsome, doting, loving malewife who just… accepts all her flaws. Hell, he’ll even be an asshole if it means taking her side in something.

I really can’t help but to love them. They’re a selfish and stuck up couple filled with toxicity and issues… but there’s real love there. You get the sense that Izayoi understand Ruruka and knows her true self is insecure about being unlovable and worthless, that her talent isn’t good enough. And he just accepts that with a smile and a kiss and tells her it’ll never be a betrayal to him. That he loves her too.

That’s beautiful. Fucked up, but beautiful.

Chibi Mermay - Sonosuke

Since making Artworks for all the side characters would take me another 2-3 years I decided to take a shortcut and release their designs as Chibis instead. This way I can finish up the Mermaid series this year and start a new series afterwards!

I hope that’s still fine with everyone.

Sonosuke’s fins are based of a Eurypterid.

I’m thinking about making these Stickers or Acrylic Charms in the future. I’d love to get some feedback from you guys, if anyone would be interested in that.

I don't know what would be worse, Izayoi genuinely loving Ruruka and genuinely forgiving her for what she did or Izayoi only being so devoted to her and forgiving her because of the candies and not out of his own will.

At first I thought “Either way, at least he died without feeling rage and despair at the betrayal. He managed to be at peace with his fate — either because he legitimately could accept it, or because he simply wasn't capable of feeling the anger/sadness/pain.” Then I had to pause and question whether having your feelings controlled/suppressed in your final moments is actually the worst fate, even if those feelings are negative ones.

And yeah... I don’t know either.

The Items the Danganronpa 3 Kids would need to enter SBURB

Kyosuke Munakata: A rulebook he has to rip up.

Chisa Yukizome: A bunch of dirt she has to clean.

Daisaku Bandai: Apple, same as John's

Natsumi Kuzuryu: A knife she has to cut something with.

Sato: An old school photograph she needs to white out.

(Or alternately a Photo of herself and Mahiru she needs to shatter)

Seiko Kimura: A candy she needs to eat (or maybe burn?)

Ruruka Ando: A pill she needs to swallow.

Izayoi Sonosuke: A weapon he needs to smelt to it's base materials.

Koichi Kizakura: Glasses he needs to wear (when he wears them they shatter)

Miaya Gekkogahara: A wheelchair that she needs to throw down the stairs.

(Or a toy she needs to dig apart)

Monaca Towa: A small Monokuma doll she needs to unwind.

Juzo Sakakura: A punching bag with a timer on it counting down for 6 minutes, each time he punches the bag it increases by another minute. The bag cannot be broken by punching but explodes when the timer reaches zero.

Ryota Mitarai: A tablet he has to make an animation on.

Karen Kisaragi: A sword she needs to snap in half

Do you think Izayoi genuinely loves Ruruka and genuinely forgave her even when she killed him or was it all an effect of the candies? How do you think he'd see her if he didn't have any candies fed to him in the first place? I feel like Izayoi idolizes Ruruka a lot.

This is all conjecture since there's no way to know for sure, but I feel like he does/did genuinely love her before she was ever spiking her candies. I doubt she knew how to do that kind of crap with her confections when she was a wee child, so I think he developed his attractions/feelings naturally as they grew. However, I don't think he'd take his own murder so well if he wasn't under some kind of control. So I'd blame his forgiving nature on the candies.

But again, this is all just me spitballing my own ideas. There's no real answer. We can't even guarantee that she was ever using those candies on him. I just think it seems likely because of how afraid she always was of being betrayed/left alone.
