This is not the famous #stairwaytoheaven @fort_benning_mcoe but it was my staircase to get there. It took me months to be able to run this hill without stopping to get to the top. Sometimes I’d try a few times a day. Sunday morning and 16 years later it was just another hill I was running on. I was at the top before my legs felt any work. The top felt different this time, there was No anger anymore just love for myself in doing the work. We all need a hill to get us stronger. Echoing the song “it’s the climb” and feeling so much excitement going up that hill. Now I had the knowledge that I didn’t have to try, I would just go and be me. I shook out my hair and left some stuff up there that I no longer needed. Then flew down the hill again now with the knowning how to run both directions. ❤️So, I don’t have a high school photo available however, I do have my 2014 college graduation 👩‍🎓 picture with my best friend from Langley High School. This was one of the best days of my life. Yes, this day was awesome. The most epic part was the climb. The experience of being in college was amazing. I loved it. My focus was on getting the diploma and the cap and the gown. I wanted it all. I felt lost last week when I was put into a situation and place against my will. I felt I had no say, no choice, and no voice. I felt truly truly hopeless for the first time ever in my life. This dark sad sad place and situation made me feel dark dark despair. Combine that with many friends speaking false and ill only made it worse and more isolating. I almost lost control. But what I could control was my breath and eventually my heart. I remembered the words of my teacher. I couldn’t control what was going on around me or even what was happening partly in my own body and what was happening to me. But I could control my heart, and how I responded to those around me. I chose love. I chose this life and it was people like you reading this who have filled my heart with such love that got me through it. These pictures were taking after the light from that darkness. Whatever you may be experiencing friends, remember you do have a constant choice about how you respond to it. I hope it is with love. Be kind today. Be kind and give love to everyone you meet. Even that person who cut you off in traffic yes! You can’t read the status of their heart and they may be experiencing something even worse than we could imagine. We all have our own darkness, our own sickness, shade, shadow, sin or whatever you want to call it. These’s always gonna be another mountain but it’s the climb and how we approach it that makes all the difference. Just know you don’t have to go it alone, and it’s making you stronger for a greater purpose. I believe in you all. Thank you to those who have stuck by me and continue to believe in me.
