The Ouran HSHC as Art Students Headcanons
Haruhi Fujioka: visual arts
- Sketching is what she started with as a child because it’s the cheapest; all you need is printer paper and a crappy pencil
- Never walked into a proper art store until her uni classes required it: “You want how much for this sketchbook?!??”
-  Has access to fancy charcoal pencils and whatnot at school now but secretly still feels more comfortable using cheap drugstore mechanical pencils since that’s what she taught herself to draw with
- She thinks the paint and sculpture students are a bit pretentious, but she can appreciate the ceramics because they have a useful purpose (she takes pottery as an elective).
 - Do not even THINK about fucking with this girl’s portfolio, even as a joke. Saying that she guards it with her life is an understatement
- Hidden in a drawer is an unfinished, photorealistic portrait of her mother. Something about it is never quite right; she’s not sure if it’ll ever be truly finished
Tamaki Suoh: literary arts
- Specialises in poetry, particularly romantic poetry, because obviously
- Literally cannot write nonfiction to save his life
- Idolizes the Bard and has multiple, incredibly expensive editions of his complete sonnets. If you pressed him to name a favorite it’d be #19
- Will spend days staring at something simple (a rose, a necklace, etc.) and finally emerge with a poem that is either incredibly poignant and beautiful or laughably bad, no inbetween
- He has a diary full of very personal poems that are only for himself, all written in French
- Despite being a literary arts major, he’s constantly being conscripted by the theatre department to play parts like Romeo and Orsino because he’s just too perfect for it
Kyoya Ootori: instrumental music/performance track
- Here is where I’d put what instrument he specializes in but uh... he literally plays all of them
- I’m not kidding. Hikaru once bet a large sum on money that there was no way Kyoya could play every instrument. He smirkingly threw an ocarina at Kyoya and the bastard just raised an eyebrow then casually played a gorgeous 30 minute rendition of the Song of Storms
- Was playing a Stradivarius at age nine
- Personally, he prefers woodwind instruments the best, followed by strings, piano, and then brass. His conductors have to bribe him to play any sort of brass instrument
- Will disappear for days into a practice room until whatever piece he’s studying is p e r f e c t. If you’re looking for him and he’s not answering his phone, that’s where he is. Will sleep in there so no one steals his room; has passed out in there from dehydration/lack of food and been carted out by medics too many times to count
- Secretly a huge fan of twoset violin
Hikaru Hitachiin: theatre/acting major
- Did you really think this Dramatic Boi(TM) would be anything other than a theatre major
- Despite his IRL demeanor, he’s incredibly serious about his acting. Professors who expect him to be a slacker are consistently surprised by his dedication
- Excels in the classics and absurdist theatre. He can be a little too intense for some of the “slice of life” modern plays
- Could probably pull off a Lear monologue flawlessly at age 12
- Always requests two scripts in any production he’s cast in: one that he can scribble on, rip up, lose pages in, etc. and one that is kept in sheet protectors in perfect condition
- He’ll be cast in a musical here and there. He’s got a decent voice and can carry a tune with a bit of coaching, but he’s got two left feet and therefore is usually put in the back in dance numbers
Kaoru Hitachiin: instrumental music, double major in music performance and music education
- Cello is his main. He was drawn to it as a kid because it’s mellow and calm; a mirror to Hikaru’s spastic tendencies
- I can also seem him liking bassoon for the same reason
- He’s quietly spectacular. You never see him practice, brag about his instrument, etc. but will somehow miraculously show up to every rehearsal with most of their pieces memorized
- Prefers ensemble and orchestral work to solos. Gets a little uncomfortable being the only one solely in the spotlight
- Has STRONG opinions on all the classical composers and one of the few times you’ll see him red-in-the-face shouting is when he’s expressing his extreme hatred for Flight of the Bumblebee
- He’s double majoring in music ed because while he loves performing and wants to work as an instrumentalist for a few years, when he’s done with that scene he’d love nothing more than to have a classroom of his own, teaching six year olds how to hold their bows and leading them through their first rendition of Hot Cross Buns
Mitsukuni Haninozuka: vocal performance
- Ya boy has RANGE. Can go from a gorgeous countertenor to a lovely baritone/high bass.
- His countertenor is his specialty though. Choir conductors across the world will literally fight over the chance to feature him as a soloist or special guest
- Is mostly fluent in just about every language, thanks to the wide variety of languages choir music features. Italian is his favorite, especially the operas
- Always has to stand in the front row of the risers and sometimes on a special-made block so people can see him amongst the other singers. His concert dress always has to be custom made for him as well
- He’s very careful to not abuse his voice, and has eliminated vocal fry in his everyday speech, though it helps that his normal speaking voice is pitched higher naturally
- Though he’d never admit it to his choir peers, he can sing pop and even rap with the best of them, though it’s saved for karaoke nights with his best friends. His favorite things to sing are holiday carols.
Takashi Morinozuka: dance major/ballet track
- He’s been in ballet classes and kendo classes since age four, and refused to give either of them up as he got older
- To him, both ballet and kendo are very similar. They both require strength, grace, and discipline. He attacks the discipline part hard. He’s the epitome of dedicated
- His height and strength makes him a perfect duet partner. All the girls pray they’ll get paired with Mori in partnering class because they know he’ll be a perfect gentleman the whole time and never, ever drop them
- Looks damn good in a pair of tights, and is never self conscious about it
- Keeps a strict athlete friendly diet 90% of the time, but occasionally allows himself a cheat day and will steal a piece of Honey’s cake out of the fridge (because of course they’re dormmates)
- Would definitely be one of the rare guys who practices pointe because A) he finds it a beautiful art form and B) he doesn’t think it’s fair that the women go though the pain of pointe shoes and he not know what it feels like

mauraaa I miss castrati AU
Jes!!! I miss it too. Thank you for sending me this message because instead of procrastinating writing my two seminar papers by faffing about on Tumblr all day, I spent it writing this instead. It’s pretty rough and unedited, but please enjoy Harry and Niall’s first interaction.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jeff accompanied him to the theater on the first morning of rehearsals. This wasn’t unusual, if Jeff was in town while Harry was working, he’d often come along. They’d dine together in Harry’s dressing room or make a trip out to a café if the afternoon break was long enough. But it rankled Harry today, to see Jeff sitting across from him in the carriage, relaxed against the cushions, his thighs spread slightly, and gazing out the window with a placid smile on his face as though nothing was out of the ordinary. Never mind the fact that they’d had one last argument before they left this morning, Harry spitting out all of the lines he’d saved up, waiting to let loose in person. But Jeff hadn’t faltered, he’d deflected each attack, and then ushered Harry into the carriage. “You’re here,” he’d said, “and it’s time to go. We can talk again after rehearsals are over this afternoon, but I promise that this show is perfect for you.” Huffing, Harry crossed his legs, tangling a restless hand in his hair, wrapping it around itself into a loose, unkempt knot.
Sun streamed in through the windows and Harry glanced out, wrenching his eyes away from Jeff. The flashing sites were so familiar, as was the clarion lilt of people speaking Italian, expressive and elongated, yet lightening fast, filtering into his ears. It undulated as they passed the docks, workmen launching crates at each other along with their cries, refrains of shipments and numbers a triumphant, cacophonous chorus. Peddlers wound their way through their list of wares, voices circling up and around, vibrating with anticipation as people approached them. The successful ones trilled their thanks, while their competitors cursed, their frustration a harsh refrain. Nowhere else in the world sounded like Naples—its cadences and crescendos mimicking the grounded, explosive potential of Vesuvius. London was all bark; harsh, clipped words. Paris was an incessant twitter of tongues, and Berlin, with its gruff, scraping growls, was even worse.
Harry’s heart ached at hearing and understanding the snippets that floated in. Words and emotions immediately registered instead of jangling, loud and unparsed, unable to be translated. Suddenly his loneliness in London was achingly clear, even his ears had been deprived of hearing, understanding what was happening in the world around him. But, was it better to be here, to know and to be known? In Naples his name and story, the dirty, intimate details of his past, could not be erased by the sound of his voice, the sweep of his skirt, or the slow curve of his most seductive smile.
Harry leaned his forehead against the window for a moment, his jaw clattering with the shaky vibrations. The horses swerved a little, to avoid a cart that stopped suddenly in their path, and Harry’s head banged against the thick glass. Cursing, and rubbing his temple, Harry laid it on the plush cushion instead. He knows he’d been petulant in putting off his travel arrangements until the last moment, and now only he is suffering. Jeff has been back for two weeks, and while Harry slept for ages last night in his massive, soft bed, one good night’s rest after a fortnight of tiresome travel was certainly insufficient. His voice was fine, though. He’d warmed up a little this morning before joining Jeff for some pastries and coffee. Rehearsal wasn’t supposed to go past midafternoon, anyway, so he wasn’t concerned about it tiring out.
Soon they arrived at the theater, and Jeff sprung back to life. He jumped out of the carriage and immediately began talking with the people who were milling about by the door. Harry descended as well, taking the hand that was offered to him, but the wooden steps they had provided were unsteady, and he slipped, losing his balance. Suddenly second pair of hands grasped his other arm. Harry righted himself and stepped fully onto the ground. Jeff had paused, but once he saw Harry standing on firm ground, he resumed his rapid-fire conversation. Harry looked over to see who had kept him from falling, and was met with two bright blue eyes, searing with an intensity that startled him.
“Thank you,” Harry said, stepping further away from the carriage, and brushing his over both of his sleeves.
“It was my pleasure,” the man murmured, his Italian smooth and natural, but lacking the sunny, southern sound of a Neapolitan.
Harry took him in with a glance, serviceable shoes, utilitarian clothes, a pale, pleasing face with a brow that looked like it was made for furrowing. He thought he might be one of the musicians, perhaps a cellist. He could be a possibility, but once Harry decides to forgive Jeff he’ll probably be preoccupied with him for a while, instead of searching for new lovers. But still, it’s worth noting.
“I think I need to go inside now, but thank you again,” Harry said, blinking slowly as he gave the man a final, wandering look of distant appreciation. He walked over to Jeff and they made their way inside. Harry pondered the man’s eyes again as he scraped the mud off his boots, tapping his heel against the bristles a few more times than necessary. Jeff put his hand on the small of Harry’s back as they made their way towards the stage, and Harry felt the weight through his coat, thumb digging in a little as he guided them around a corner. Jeff showed him the dressing room briefly, but they had to go straight to the stage to meet Niall, the maestro who had somehow convinced Jeff to wrench him from his comfortable life in Paris and drag him all the way back across the continent to Naples.
Harry had been so incensed by Jeff’s determination for him to return that he had not exerted effort into finding anything out about Niall. Jeff had given him no details, only that his music was meant for Harry to sing. On his final night in London, Kendall had taken him out to a dinner party. During the cheese course one of the guests mentioned something about Niall, saying that he was apparently very young. He hadn’t said anything else, though, and Harry had gotten distracted by Kendall running her hand up and down his inner thighs. Now that Harry was here, being marched down the corridors with Jeff an insistent presence at his side, he regretted his lack of preparation. Who was Niall going to be? What would he expect from Harry? How young was he actually—not very many young composers were able to attract Jeff’s attention, and with it recruit the most celebrated voice of the decade, if not century.
Harry was starting to spin a bit, in his mind, toying absently with the thick rings on his fingers, when a door swung open in front of him and he stepped out onto the stage, his footsteps suddenly echoing in the space. The room was fully lit, the rows of empty seats stretching out in front of him, around him, above him. Harry inhaled softly, nostrils flaring as he took it in. The guilt, the paintings, the candles flickering in elaborate brass sconces that gleamed and reflected the light like mirrors. It was beautiful. Already he felt the zing in his spine, his shoulders spread a little further, his head lifted a little higher. This stage was everything he’d imagined it would be, when he sat in the audience as a little boy who loved to sing, or as a teenager who lived to sing.
“Niall, it’s good to see you,” he heard Jeff say, and Harry turned, eyes drifting back down to the stage, to the man in front of him. It was the man from earlier, who’d caught him from falling. He smiled and stepped forward to shake his hand, and Harry’s palm enveloped his, fingers wrapping around in a gentle, but firm clasp.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Harry. Jeff has told me so much about you, and I am looking forward to working with you.”
“Hello,” Harry said, mind reeling to recalculate his assessment of Niall from earlier. Harry still couldn’t place his accent, and he wasn’t a cellist, he was the composer who had earned Jeff’s patronage. “You’re Niall? I didn’t realize.”
Niall shuffled back a little, wringing his hands. “Yes I’m, I should’ve introduced myself earlier, I apologize.”
“I see,” Harry said, his head fuzzy and tired, and wondering why was he here after traveling non-stop for two weeks to meet with a maestro who was barely out of puberty. “What do you want me to do? Where’s my music?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I left it down on the harpsichord, I thought you might want to sit down and talk a little bit before beginning rehearsal.”
“No thank you,” Harry sniffed. He could see Jeff rolling his eyes at him, but he didn’t care. He turned his unimpressed stare back to Niall. “I would prefer to just get this over with. I’ll sing, you can make your alterations, and then we can move on with our lives and prepare for this show to open. I have many things to attend to.”
“Preparations, other than rehearsing, you mean?” Niall asked, his eyes slowly beginning to lose their polite sheen.
“Certainly. I have been absent from Naples for quite some time. I have numerous, pressing social obligations now that I’ve returned.”
“I see,” Niall said. “Well in that case I will grab your music and we shall begin.”
Harry nodded curtly as Niall turned and hopped straight down into the pit, instead of descending the stairs. He heard a faint expletive as Niall landed, and then Jeff coughed loudly behind him.
“Harry, really?” he admonished. “Why are you being so difficult about this?”
Harry’s irritation increased, stretching taught like a bowstring, and then he snapped. “Just fucking leave, Jeff. You got me here, you win. But go away. I don’t want to see you right now.”
“Harry, stop being so unreasonable. I know you’re tired, but you’re behaving like a—”
“Like a what, Jeff?”
Jeff squeezed his eyes shut and exhaled. “Like a child,” he said, slowly, eyes opening and instantly apologetic.
“Fuck you,” Harry spat. Jeff winced and took a step back. “Harry I’m sorry.”
“Please go away,” Harry said, voice trembling a little. “I will sing, Jeff. But I don’t want you here.”
Jeff nodded. “The carriage will wait for you, and I’ll see you at home for supper. Is that alright with you?”
“Fine,” Harry said, turning away towards the sound of Niall climbing back out of the pit. He was carrying the score, along with an ornately carved, wooden music stand as well, hefting it up along the ladder with him. He managed to lever it up onto the stage and push it along the floor until it was securely balanced, before he swung himself up and out, wincing a little as he landed. Niall grabbed the music stand and stood, walking over towards the center of the stage and depositing the stand and the music.
“Niall, I’ve some business to attend to this morning, but I will catch up with you tomorrow, alright?” Jeff said, smoothly moving towards the door. Niall spun to look at him, brow furrowed.
“You’re leaving?”
“Yes, he is.” Harry said behind him, and Niall spun back around, looking a little bit dizzy.
“Will it be just the two of us then?” Harry asked, eyebrow arched condescendingly.
“Yes, just the two of us. The rest of the musicians are set to arrive next week.”
“Well then, let’s begin.”
Niall nodded and turned again, heading back to the pit. He didn’t jump this time but climbed slowly down the ladder to take his seat. The pit was fully open today, and Harry could see the harpsichord at an angle. When Niall sat down, he was entirely visible. He had pushed the cuffs of his sleeves further up, revealing wiry forearms covered in a dusting of fair hair that glinted a little in the candlelight. Niall opened his score and glanced over at Harry, indicating for him to do the same. As Harry unfolded the papers, he saw Niall slip his shoes off, sliding his stockinged feet onto the pedals. Harry sniffed at that, finding it utterly unrefined. What difference would a little bit of leather make in operating the pedals?
“Ready?” Niall asked, voice low and firm. Harry looked at him over the music, eyes narrowing to account for the low light in the pit.
“Yes. You may begin.”
Niall inclined his head in a mocking gesture and did just that, fingers flying over the keys as they passed through the introductory flourishes. His arpeggiation and trills were as standard and utilitarian as his clothes, and Harry rolled his eyes, cocking his hip to wait until he was supposed to come in. He eyed the first few measures of his part, but they were scribbled at the bottom of the page, and he didn’t bother flipping it. Harry couldn’t recall the last time he’d had difficulty sight reading. At the very least he’d land on a melody even better than what had originally been written, so he zoned out, listening to the rise and fall of the music, each chord proceeding as expected, until it was only a few measures away from his entrance. Harry straightened his posture and inhaled, feeling his lungs slowly expand with air until it was in his eyeballs and he paused, teetering on an explosive fullness of breath. And then, just as Niall’s fingers landed on an anticipatory amalgamation of notes, Harry was off, his voice bursting out of his chest.
Harry flipped the page lackadaisically and continued with his melody until suddenly it felt like he was tripping, a rug being wrenched out from under him. His eyes and his throat were out of sync and flopping onto notes that should be bounced across. His tongue felt like a wet fish, and he snapped his mouth shut just as Niall picked his fingers up off the keys.
“Shall we go back to your entrance?” Niall asked, face betraying no acknowledgement of Harry’s flub.”
Harry’s face flamed, and he nodded, refusing to say a word. Niall looked at him and breathed in slightly as Harry did, his fingers precise as they struck right as Harry began to sing. Harry’s eyes were glued to the page this time, scanning ahead as he ran through a series of triplets, looking forward to the run that had thrown him. He pulled it off fine that time, clinical in his approach, but he didn’t want to let his guard down now. They continued like that, Harry aggressively singing the lines, adding angular flourishes and trills in exactly all of the right spots. Niall’s playing was firm and stalwart, but there was a coiled strength to it, as though he were restraining himself from pushing the tempo or leaning too far into the dissonant chords.
Niall asked them to stop two times, taking brief notes on his copy while Harry waited, eyeing his fingernails. Each time they’d begin again, perfectly on sync, barely batting an eyelid. When they were halfway through the pages Niall had given him, Harry reached his first aria. He had a few bars of rest before it began, and as Niall plowed through them Harry inhaled, ready to finally find out what sort of person Niall was.
Harry pushed immediately, taking the run that Niall had sketched out and doubling it, going up an additional octave and winding his way down luxuriously, dallying around with some false cadences before descending the rest of the way. Next, he slowed down, taking the octave jumps that Niall had set up for him with an effortless glide. Niall was keeping up though, barely struggling with Harry’s acrobatics, so he continued, and pushed harder. Note for note, Niall matched him, never once getting out from under him, but running with him, letting him spin out before dragging him back in. The chased each other around and around, until Harry was barely even looking at the page, the notes flying out of his mouth without preparation or pre-consideration. He hit the climax with everything, voice ringing out through the hall as he held the note for what seemed like an eternity, and then a few heartbeats longer, his vibrato fully and shimmering until he trailed off into silence. When the note ended, Harry’s eyes fluttered shut and his breath bounced back into his lungs with a massive inhalation. Niall did not continue playing. Instead the vibrations of Harry’s last note lingered in the air, echoing across the empty room. Harry slowly opened his eyes, and Niall was staring at him, his jaw tensed, eyes calculating.
“Alright,” Niall said eventually, turning back to his music.
“Let’s pick it up right after the aria,” Harry said. Niall just nodded and began to play.
Dexter Moren Associates unveils wellness-oriented approach at Villa Pamphili Hotel in Rome
After three years, an investment of over 25 million euros and a complete renovation, Villa Pamphili Hotel in Rome has reopened its doors on 1st July. Surrounded by a flourishing urban park in the Valle dei Casali, the interior redesign for Villa Pamphili was devised and delivered by international hospitality design expert Dexter Moren Associates’ (DMA) interiors team and positions the hotel as a reference point for an international clientele looking for the comfort of a resort just a few steps from the centre of Rome.
Villa Pamphili Hotel is owned by Antirion SGR through the Antirion Global Comparto Hotel fund, and is managed by Aries Group, a hotel management company specialising in the management of real estate assets with a tourist vocation.
The four-star hotel showcases more than 230 entirely redesigned rooms, offering a reinterpretation of the Italian style with a biophysical spatial approach, a swimming pool and a spa. The hotel also comprises an innovative 1600sq m conference centre, with 15 meeting rooms and a capacity of over 500 seats. To complete the offer, the hotel opens up to the city with its Terrazza Pamphili restaurant, located on the panoramic rooftop on the fifth floor of the structure.
DMA’s design for the scheme is inspired by the location and its villas, the local seventies architecture and the legendary Italian designer Gio Ponti. Lindsey Bean-Pearce, Partner, DMA Interiors, explains: “The concept for the hotel was directed by DMA’s ethos of developing a ‘neighbourhood story’ unique to the site – in this case, the location, the Mediterranean vibe and the existing seventies period architecture provided the inspiration for a ‘Miami beach’ feel.
This complemented the iconic Italian aesthetic; merging a city hotel (Urban) with a resort (Villa) to create a venue for local and international leisure and business guests to experience Rome’s abundant and multi-layered history while enjoying all the comforts of a wellness-oriented environment.” To create a strong connection with the outdoor landscape, DMA relocated the hotel’s existing bar to one end of the hotel’s ground floor, into a prominent location with a dedicated entrance, making the bar more accessible not only to guests but also to occasional visitors.
The warm peach ambience of the bar merges into a lobby lounge wrapping around to the terrace at the rear with views of the surrounding park. The rigidity of the existing travertine column grid is softened by the insertion of joinery pieces and benches to create cosy pockets of seating, while bookshelves help to screen the grand bold green staircase that leads to the lower ground restaurant.
Rich earthy terracotta shades, inspired by the local architecture and landscape, and timber finishes bring warmth and authenticity to the à la carte restaurant. The biophilic atmosphere of this F&B space is enhanced by the use of outdoor bistro chairs and planting to echo and connect to the rich foliage of the garden.
Bold stripes and contrasting Klein blue ceilings work together to ground the volumes of the main spaces, while handmade tiles frame the show kitchen where experienced chefs will complete the unique dining experience.
The standard guestrooms, influenced by the modern Italian design heritage, are composed of mint green and taupe colour blocking to the walls, punctuated by geometric painted artworks. The rectilinear lines of the slatted headboards contrast the curved joinery, itself topped with burgundy glass and accentuated with brass detailing, whilst bathrooms are transformed to provide a resort-style wellness experience.
The top floor suites are surrounded by balconies furnished with sun loungers and dining sets, enabling guests to enjoy the Mediterranean sunsets and the inspiring landscape. The space has been opened to make the most of the view through the floor-to-ceiling glazed windows, amplified by the use of full-height mirrors.
Unexpected geometric murals are the background of the bedroom spaces, utilising soft curved headboards and joinery to create a meandering journey. The curvilinear design sits in contrast with the diagonal stripes used in the bathrooms and walk-in closets, creating a harmonic balance of shapes and colours. These bathrooms feature walk-in showers and bath pods to allow the guests to enjoy views of the outdoors while inside. The pink tones of the textured tiles perfectly match the façade terracotta tones while timber framed vanities and shelving echo the biophilic context of the resort.
Ofer Arbib, CEO of Antirion SGR, comments: “The reopening of the Villa Pamphili Hotel is a particularly significant moment for our company, but also for the city of Rome, which will certainly see the return of a flow of international tourists in the second half of the year. We are proud of the result we have achieved thanks to the collaboration with highly professional and competent stakeholders, and we are also proud to undertake this new adventure with a manager like Aries – a reliable and experienced partner.”
Before moving to this house in Flemington, Leah Holt and Oliver Whiteley were living in a one-bedroom warehouse in Melbourne’s CBD.
‘It was a great place, but it didn’t have an outdoor space, and since we were both working from home due to Covid (and newly living together, eeek!), it felt a little claustrophobic,’ says Leah.
In search of a larger home and outdoor space, they ended up in Flemington in mid 2020, where Leah found her dream home complete with high ceilings, beautiful ornate details, and most importantly, a backyard. ‘I just kept walking around saying “I LOVE IT” repeatedly,’ recalls Leah of the inspection.
The home was newly renovated, so all that was needed was Leah’s styling to bring it to life. As the operations and projects manager at Curated Spaces, and owner of vintage furniture studio LH Design Hub, she luckily had access to some amazing pieces – the only challenge was choosing the right ones!
‘I think I am on my 12th set of dining chairs!,’ says Leah. ‘Oliver knows not to get attached to anything, as it will probably be gone in a few weeks.’
Interestingly, this career path is an entirely new direction for Leah, who was working in the higher education sector up to 18 months ago. ‘Creating  LH Design Hub and having the opportunity to sell exclusively via Curated Spaces has been the best decision I have ever made,’ she says.
One element of Leah and Oliver’s decoration that isn’t going anywhere is their growing art collection, including works by Angie Pai and Alexandria Park. They’ve also switched out the rental’s lighting pendants for Shades Launay, and worked hard to transform the backyard.
‘Even though we are renting, I still thought it was important to buy and source pieces that tell a story, and I hope that is evident throughout the house.’
Our backyard has been a real passion project for Oliver… we have our own veggie patch now, and have planted a whole bunch of ferns, hanging baskets and flowers to make it feel romantic and relaxing,’ says Leah.
From the bedroom, to the living room, and the outdoor area, this home now feels like a true reflection of Leah and Oliver. Leah hopes it looks the way it makes them feel – warm, cosy and safe.
‘As soon as we walk through the door, we feel at home and completely comfortable and relaxed,’ she says. ‘We have signed on for another year’s lease and we couldn’t be happier.’
Ever Wonder What A 현금바둑이게임 Looks Like on a Royal Caribbean Cruise? #3392
Some games are banked games, meaning that the house has a stake in the outcome of the game and bets against the players. http://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=안전토토사이트 Which of those variants is best to play depends on the individual. Instead, Montagu told his servants to just bring him some meat between sliced bread so he could eat and play at the same time. Thus the "sandwich" was born... sort of. French card suits in comic deck - notice how the suits integrate with the illustrations! (Cartes à Rire, 19th century). (Guest, Vol. 2)
The Ace cards have become "The Law" cards, the Kings have become "Spirit" cards, the Queens have become "Liberty" cards, and the Knaves (or Knights) have become "Equality" cards. In the United States it ranges from 11.1% on the $1-bill bet to more than 24% on the joker or logo (when it pays at 40 to 1). The roulette mechanism is a hybrid of a gaming wheel invented in 1720 and the Italian game Biribi. Because casinos are businesses and must make money to survive, the mathematical odds are always against players in casino games.
One aspect of casino gambling that’s especially appealing to players is the fact that the majority of games are very straightforward. If a player’s cards beat the dealer’s cards, the player will receive even money (1-1) on their Ante bet, and the following on their raise (Call bet): The differences between European decks are mostly in the number of cards in each suit; for example,13 in the commonly-known French deck,14 in the French Tarot game,12 in Spain,10 in Italy and in some games in Spain,9 in Switzerland for the Jass,8 in some games in Germany and Austria, e.g. Skat,8 for Belote in France,5 in Hungarian Illustrated Tarock, Caribbean Stud isn’t a complex game to master. Playtech’s take on Caribbean Stud makes for an easy and accessible table card game experience. The overall rules are straightforward. The game, like all Caribbean Stud titles, has a progressive jackpot. So, each game has two bets with two different outcomes. The play rules are as follows: The individual player will place a wager along with a progressive optional bet. Both the dealer and the player will receive five cards each in total.
Tumblr media
In either case, the ball enters the playing field, which is populated by numerous brass pins, several small cups into which the player hopes the ball will fall (each catcher is barely the width of the ball), and a hole at the bottom into which the ball will fall if it does not enter a catcher. When the dealer has placed the dolly (the plastic marker used to mark the winning number), it is strictly prohibited to touch any chips on a winning bet.In the instance where both the dealer and player have hands of matching value by the above table the hand is considered a push and the player’s bets are returned. As with many other poker based casino games, there is a qualification hand for the dealer to play. As such payouts vary depending on whether the dealer qualifies or not. The dealer qualifies if their hand is Ace/King or better. The style of the costumes on English playing cards is late medieval, being descended from the Rouen models.
In hindsight, you should only play a hand of this type if your high card matches the dealer’s hole card (which is the only card that’s exposed out of the 5 cards that the dealer has dealt to himself). When using both the basic strategy as well as the more advanced Caribbean Stud Poker strategy, the rule of thumb is to fold if lady luck is not on your side and you happen to receive a hand which does not rank well.  Pay tables allocate the payouts for hands and are based on how rare they are, the game variation, and the decision of the game operator.This reduces the maximum payout percentage to 98.39% for players betting five coins per hand to receive the Royal Flush bonus. In Bank Craps, the dice are thrown over a wire or a string that is normally stretched a few inches from the table's surface.
This money should not be needed for basic living expenses, such as food etc. There are three ways to arrange four tiles into two hands when no two of them form a pair. However, if there is at least one pair among the tiles, there are only two distinct ways to form two hands.While there are casinos in many places, a few places have become well known specifically for gambling. Perhaps the place almost defined by its casino is Monte Carlo, but other places are known as gambling centers. When the dealer is finished making payouts, the marker is removed from the board where players collect their winnings and make new bets. The winning chips remain on the board.
Customers gamble by playing games of chance, in some cases with an element of skill, such as craps, roulette, baccarat, blackjack, and video poker. Most games have mathematically determined odds that ensure the house has at all times an advantage over the players. This can be expressed more precisely by the notion of expected value, which is uniformly negative (from the player's perspective). This advantage is called the house edge. In games such as poker where players play against each other, the house takes a commission called the rake. Casinos sometimes give out complimentary items or comps to gamblers. Special prizes are awarded to the player in amounts corresponding to the number of balls won.The basic formula for the player's expected loss combines the amount of time played, the number of hands per hour, the average bet, and the house percentage. The Eagle slot, which was a symbol of American liberty, was a house slot that brought the casino extra edge. Soon, the tradition vanished and since then the wheel features only numbered slots.
In other games betting is not intrinsically part of the game, and the association is merely conventional and not necessary to the performance of the game itself (horse racing, football pools). Nowadays, in Macau casinos, the house commission is uniformly set at 5%. For example, assume a bettor has $100 wagered on a 3 to 1 wager; if the bet wins, the bettor is paid $285 ($300 less 5%). 우리카지노계열 Celebrating the popular success of his novelty, de Marigny gave the name Rue de Craps to a street in his new subdivision in New Orleans. When casinos became aware of some players where card counting they understood they where going to lose their house edge.
77 Valentine's Day Gifts You Can Get on Amazon Prime
Tumblr media
If going to the mall during the holidays drove you nuts before 2020, then Amazon Prime will save your soul now more than ever. Where else can you buy a wool Mackage coat, a sculpted bust of a greek god, a cardboard turntable for cats, and toilet paper? From the comfort of your couch. Naked.
Because there are millions of choices on Amazon and going through the results for even a single inquiry can be exhausting, we went through tens of thousands of items and put together a definitive list of the best gifts you can shop this year with Prime. From the Strategist: The Most Essential Pasta-Making Tools, According to Professional Pasta-Makers
Tumblr media
Photo: Courtesy Retailer
Experts recommend pasta machines, cutters, and more to make fresh, homemade pasta, from the Strategist
The secret to making pasta at home is that it’s not actually that hard, especially once you have all of the right tools. But even decisions as seemingly simple as whether you should buy a hand-crank pasta machine or an electric one can quickly become daunting if you don’t have a guide. Do you need a ravioli pin, or will a tablet suffice? What about a drying rack? To figure out what pasta-making tools you really need, and which you can leave sitting in your Amazon cart, we asked Linda Miller Nicholson, author of Pasta, Pretty Please and the “pasta artist” behind the Instagram account Salty Seattle, and Meryl Feinstein, the founder of Pasta Social Club in Austin, Texas, to walk us through everything they use to cut, shape, and cook their lovingly made and endearingly bright pasta.
Pasta machine
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Machine
For most people making fresh pasta at home, an electrical pasta machine is overkill. But even if you’re getting a modest hand-crank pasta-maker, it’s important to invest in one that’s accurate. That’s because a pasta machine is basically made of two rollers, which start at a wider width then taper inward. “As you reduce the space in between them, that’s what makes the pasta sheet get thinner and thinner, and the calibration on those two rollers is very, very important,” explains Nicholson. “Even if it’s a 64th of a millimeter off, you’ll have one side of the pasta sheet pulling and being a little bit more narrow, whereas the other side doesn’t grab it quite as much.” That’ll leave your pasta more prone to tearing, which will undo all of your hard work. One brand that’s very much solved this problem, according to Nicholson, is Marcato Atlas, an Italian company that’s been making these pasta machines since 1930. “There’s a hand-cranked version, which is fun if you are with someone else or even by yourself,” she says, and they’re reliable enough for even the biggest batches.
Rolling cutter
Tumblr media
LaGondola Professional Pasta Cutter Wheel, Ravioli Cutter
Another pasta-making tool that’s worth investing in is a rolling cutter. “You wind up using them so much in pasta-making that you don’t want the cheapo, stainless-steel ones,” says Nicholson. Also, because those lesser-quality ones are “not ergonomically comfortable, they don’t have the ability to cut nearly as well.” That’s why she likes this brass one from LaGondola with a wooden handle, which is heavy enough to smoothly and evenly slice through dough without tweaking your hand unnecessarily.
Kitchen scale
Tumblr media
Ozeri ZK14-S Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale
If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times: Kitchen scales are a game changer – and that’s especially true when you’re working with pasta. Feinstein that while making pasta is mostly about technique and eyeing ingredients, a little precision doesn’t hurt. “Weighing your ingredients instead of estimating by volume will help you reach perfect pasta dough every time,” she says.
Pasta bike
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Cutter Bike
Nicholson has what she describes as a love-hate relationship with the pasta bike, but the trick to making friends with this funny-looking gadget is to not think of it as a cutter but as a scorer. It’s not going to cut through every line, consistently and firmly because it has so many moving parts. But it’s a handy tool for “anything that needs essentially, like, fairly precise squares or rectangles — like garganelli or cannelloni — or really anytime you want to cut a lot of something quickly.” Just remember to go over the scored lines with your nice, smooth rolling cutter.
Bench scraper
Tumblr media
OXO Good Grips Multi-purpose Stainless Steel Scraper
Another must-have tool is a bench scraper, for dividing dough evenly and even helping to mix ingredients, and Nicholson’s absolutely favorite one is the Campbell’s dough knife. It is hand-forged by a man in the United Kingdom, and Nicholson describes it as nonstick and “virtually indestructible.” However, you must also order it from this man’s Instagram account. A more readily available option that we like is OXO’s stainless-steel scraper, which isn’t hand-forged but is reliably sturdy, especially for the occasional pasta-maker.
Wooden board
Tumblr media
John Boos R02 Maple Wood Edge Grain Reversible Cutting Board
While you can certainly roll out your pasta directly onto your counter, a wooden board or cutting board is helpful as a work surface. “Something with a natural finish is ideal for kneading and rolling out pasta, no matter the type,” Feinstein says. “The porous material will absorb excess moisture when kneading your dough and rolling out sheets, and the friction from the natural finish will make hand-rolled shapes like orecchiette and cavatelli a breeze.”
Ravioli tray
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Ravioli Tablet Pasta Maker
If you’re new to making pasta but have your heart set on mastering ravioli, Nicholson recommends this tray, which is both easier to use than a ravioli pin and creates less waste. “The ravioli tablet actually has the perforations on an overlay. You roll a pin over, and the pin in conjunction with those perforations actually cut the ravioli in one movement, rather than having a step to cut afterward.” Feinstein adds that if you don’t want to spend money on a ravioli tray, use a cookie cutter or a flutted cutter for square ravioli.
Stainless-steel round cutter set
Tumblr media
Ateco 5357 Plain Edge Round Cutters in Graduated Sizes
These stainless-steel round cutters are great if you’re making tortellini or cappelletti — pasta shapes that start with circular pieces of dough and are then shaped — but they’re also nice to keep in the kitchen, more generally. “You can use them for everything: biscuits and cookies and pasta and making funny Halloween shapes of things for my kids; they come in very handy. I think, just in general, having a set of nesting circular cutters comes in very handy,” says Nicholson.
Pasta stripper
Tumblr media
Eppicotispai Garganelli and Gnocchi Stripper
If you need to make textured pastas, you need a pasta stripper, which allows you to roll the dough over a ridge surface.”One of my favorite pastas to make from scratch is gnocchetti sardi (Sardinian gnocchi),” says Feinstein. “You roll the flour/water-based dough against a ridged board to create texture, which is perfect for catching sauce. The board can also be used for making garganelli, a hand-formed penne pasta.”
Sheet pans
Tumblr media
Nordic Ware Natural Aluminum Commercial Baker’s Half Sheet (2 Pack)
Once your pasta is cut and shaped, you need a place to store it or let it dry out a bit, especially if you’re not eating it all at once. And the easiest way to do this is to lay out your pasta on a sheet pan. Nicholson recommends getting full-size sheet pans if you can because “you have more pasta-drying power with that.” But if space is a constraint, or you want something a little more versatile, get a half-pan. And though you don’t need them to be super durable, since you’re just laying out pasta on them and letting them dry, she recommends keeping a set just for pasta so that the pans don’t warp from the heat of the oven.
Tumblr media
Nordic Ware Half Sheet Cover
You can also buy a lid for your half-sheet, which makes it easier to store fresh pasta in the fridge or take it on the road, if you’re traveling to someone else’s house for dinner. Just be sure to buy the lid integrated with the pan, from the same brand, otherwise they might not fit.
Spray bottles
Tumblr media
Empty Amber Glass Spray Bottles with Labels (2 Pack)
A little water goes a long way, whether it’s getting the right consistency for your dough, keeping your pasta sheets from drying out as you work, or sealing your filled shapes. A few spritzes from a spray bottle is usually all you need, and as long as you’re using small increments, you’ll never have to worry about over-saturating dough.
Pastry bags
Tumblr media
Ateco 4721 Disposable Decorating Bags, 21-Inch, Pack of 100
Using large pastry bags (no tip necessary, just cut the corner) to pipe your fillings will give you more control and expand the types of stuffed pastas you can make at home since some shapes, like agnolotti and ravioli all’uovo, require it. Plus, no mess!
Parchment paper
Tumblr media
Reynolds Cookie Baking Sheets Non-Stick Parchment Paper
You don’t want to lay out pasta straight on the metal sheet pan because it will almost definitely stick, so be sure to put down a piece of parchment paper first. Nicholson likes precut sheets, for ease of use.
Plastic wrap
Tumblr media
Reynolds Wrap 914 PVC Film Roll With Cutter Box, 18-Inch
“I feel very strongly about plastic wrap,” says Nicholson — so much so that she keeps an 18-inch roll of the stuff mounted underneath her kitchen cabinets for ease of use. When you’re making pasta, you’re using a lot of plastic wrap to keep fresh dough from drying out. “You’re always pulling it down, your hands are floury, so trying to get out a little tiny box and finagle and work with the box while you’re, you know, in the middle of needing an extra pair of hands anyway is not a pleasant thing.” And the reason Nicholson likes the 18-inch-wide plastic wrap is because it’s the same width as her half-sheet pans. “So when you’re talking about a half-pan, you can go across the short direction of a half-pan.”
Stackable food-drying trays with nets
Tumblr media
Eppicotispai Beechwood Stackable Food Dryer With Net
Though drying pasta and letting it rest on a sheet pan is more than sufficient for most types of pasta, for filled pasta like ravioli, it can be nice to let these more delicate pastas rest on a food-drying tray with a net. “Even if you’re lining the sheet pan with parchment and sprinkling it with semolina, if you’re, you know, working slow and you have it out at room temperature, filled pasta will still occasionally stick to the parchment,” says Nicholson. “The airy drying racks do circulate airflow beneath, and they’re very handy for room-temperature drying over a period of time — say, like an hour, hour and a half.” It’s also nice for a little nest of tagliatelle, since the airflow ensures that “it doesn’t clump down there on the bottom like it would with a sheet pan.” Barring that, Feinstein says using generous amounts of semolina on a sheet pan is also a good way to prevent sticking.
Drying rack
Tumblr media
Acacia Pasta Drying Rack
Since she’s making so much pasta, Nicholson has a bespoke drying system in her kitchen, made by mounting long wooden dowels from the hardware store underneath her kitchen cabinets. But the plug-and-play solutions work if you’re not willing to install more kitchen gear. “I use those for any pasta that is like a long-noodled pasta, like fettuccine, tagliatelle, lasagna, pappardelle. And even if I’m ultimately going to nest those pastas, meaning wrap them into the little coils and set them on a drying tray or sheet pan, I still tend to hang them for a few minutes just so that they can develop a little bit of a skin on the exterior so that when I nest them, they, like, don’t stick together.”
Stockpot
Tumblr media
Demeyere John Pawson Stockpot, 8.5-Quart
Once your pasta is made, it’s time to cook it. For that task, Nicholson likes this stockpot from Demeyere. “It’s extremely even, and it cooks really well,” she says. “Also, I cook on induction, so it’s important to me, obviously, that something is magnetic.”
Tumblr media
Cuisinart 766-24 Chef’s Classic 8-Quart Stockpot With Cover
However, if you don’t want to spend over $400 on a stockpot, or don’t need to worry about having induction-friendly cookware, any 8.5- or eight-quart stockpot will do, like this well-reviewed one from Cuisinart for under $50.
Spider strainer
Tumblr media
Helen Chen’s Asian Kitchen Stainless Steel Spider Strainer
Nicholson uses one of these spider strainers to drop the pasta into her stockpot full of (salted!) boiling water and to gently remove once it’s done. Using this tool is easier than trying to dump out a gallon of hot water into a colander and is less violent than pulling out a strainer from a dual-immersive stockpot, which can be hard on the pasta. “It’s funny; whenever I teach workshops, I realize that I touch the pasta like it’s a baby. I’m gentle with it,” says Nicholson, because “you put so much work into it, and you want the end result to really be the very best it can be.”
Experts recommend pasta machines, cutters, and more to make fresh, homemade pasta, from the Strategist
The secret to making pasta at home is that it’s not actually that hard, especially once you have all of the right tools. But even decisions as seemingly simple as whether you should buy a hand-crank pasta machine or an electric one can quickly become daunting if you don’t have a guide. Do you need a ravioli pin, or will a tablet suffice? What about a drying rack? To figure out what pasta-making tools you really need, and which you can leave sitting in your Amazon cart, we asked Linda Miller Nicholson, author of Pasta, Pretty Please and the “pasta artist” behind the Instagram account Salty Seattle, and Meryl Feinstein, the founder of Pasta Social Club in Austin, Texas, to walk us through everything they use to cut, shape, and cook their lovingly made and endearingly bright pasta.
Pasta machine
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Machine
For most people making fresh pasta at home, an electrical pasta machine is overkill. But even if you’re getting a modest hand-crank pasta-maker, it’s important to invest in one that’s accurate. That’s because a pasta machine is basically made of two rollers, which start at a wider width then taper inward. “As you reduce the space in between them, that’s what makes the pasta sheet get thinner and thinner, and the calibration on those two rollers is very, very important,” explains Nicholson. “Even if it’s a 64th of a millimeter off, you’ll have one side of the pasta sheet pulling and being a little bit more narrow, whereas the other side doesn’t grab it quite as much.” That’ll leave your pasta more prone to tearing, which will undo all of your hard work. One brand that’s very much solved this problem, according to Nicholson, is Marcato Atlas, an Italian company that’s been making these pasta machines since 1930. “There’s a hand-cranked version, which is fun if you are with someone else or even by yourself,” she says, and they’re reliable enough for even the biggest batches.
Rolling cutter
Tumblr media
LaGondola Professional Pasta Cutter Wheel, Ravioli Cutter
Another pasta-making tool that’s worth investing in is a rolling cutter. “You wind up using them so much in pasta-making that you don’t want the cheapo, stainless-steel ones,” says Nicholson. Also, because those lesser-quality ones are “not ergonomically comfortable, they don’t have the ability to cut nearly as well.” That’s why she likes this brass one from LaGondola with a wooden handle, which is heavy enough to smoothly and evenly slice through dough without tweaking your hand unnecessarily.
Kitchen scale
Tumblr media
Ozeri ZK14-S Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale
If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times: Kitchen scales are a game changer – and that’s especially true when you’re working with pasta. Feinstein that while making pasta is mostly about technique and eyeing ingredients, a little precision doesn’t hurt. “Weighing your ingredients instead of estimating by volume will help you reach perfect pasta dough every time,” she says.
Pasta bike
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Pasta Cutter Bike
Nicholson has what she describes as a love-hate relationship with the pasta bike, but the trick to making friends with this funny-looking gadget is to not think of it as a cutter but as a scorer. It’s not going to cut through every line, consistently and firmly because it has so many moving parts. But it’s a handy tool for “anything that needs essentially, like, fairly precise squares or rectangles — like garganelli or cannelloni — or really anytime you want to cut a lot of something quickly.” Just remember to go over the scored lines with your nice, smooth rolling cutter.
Bench scraper
Tumblr media
OXO Good Grips Multi-purpose Stainless Steel Scraper
Another must-have tool is a bench scraper, for dividing dough evenly and even helping to mix ingredients, and Nicholson’s absolutely favorite one is the Campbell’s dough knife. It is hand-forged by a man in the United Kingdom, and Nicholson describes it as nonstick and “virtually indestructible.” However, you must also order it from this man’s Instagram account. A more readily available option that we like is OXO’s stainless-steel scraper, which isn’t hand-forged but is reliably sturdy, especially for the occasional pasta-maker.
Wooden board
Tumblr media
John Boos R02 Maple Wood Edge Grain Reversible Cutting Board
While you can certainly roll out your pasta directly onto your counter, a wooden board or cutting board is helpful as a work surface. “Something with a natural finish is ideal for kneading and rolling out pasta, no matter the type,” Feinstein says. “The porous material will absorb excess moisture when kneading your dough and rolling out sheets, and the friction from the natural finish will make hand-rolled shapes like orecchiette and cavatelli a breeze.”
Ravioli tray
Tumblr media
Marcato Atlas Ravioli Tablet Pasta Maker
If you’re new to making pasta but have your heart set on mastering ravioli, Nicholson recommends this tray, which is both easier to use than a ravioli pin and creates less waste. “The ravioli tablet actually has the perforations on an overlay. You roll a pin over, and the pin in conjunction with those perforations actually cut the ravioli in one movement, rather than having a step to cut afterward.” Feinstein adds that if you don’t want to spend money on a ravioli tray, use a cookie cutter or a flutted cutter for square ravioli.
I think, just in general, having a set of nesting circular cutters comes in very handy,” says Nicholson.
Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Connecticut Beach House
    Hello my wonderful friends! How are you today? It’s great to be back with this new “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” post especially because I am featuring such a talented and kind woman! Marcie, from @designsixtyfive, is a busy mom of two little boys, and, together with her husband, she managed to renovate and decorate this gorgeous Connecticut beach house.
I can’s stress enough for you to follow her on Instagram because she’s one of those rare people you meet and instantly feel connected to. Here, Marcie shares more details about her home:
  “When we began planning for our home renovation, Home Bunch was one of my go-to sources for inspiration, so to be sharing our own home on this platform now is such an honor! I first started Design Sixty Five as a way to document our renovation for posterity, not thinking anyone would actually be interested in following along with the progress. A year later, I am truly amazed at how it taken on a life of its own and has become such a fulfilling creative outlet. It brings me so much joy to exchange ideas and inspiration with others and I couldn’t be happier to share our renovation experience here with you!”
  Beautiful Homes of Instagram: Connecticut Beach House
“We bought this 1920’s colonial in 2012 (before having children) when it was only 1,300 square feet with 3 small bedrooms and 1 bathroom. After growing our family to include 2 kids and 2 dogs, we felt it was time for us to either expand or move. We fell in love with the location of this home, which is within walking distance of downtown as well as the beach, so we decided to renovate in order to make this home work for our family in the long term.”
Front Door Paint Color: Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray.
Front door knocker is Michael Healy Designs.
Roof: Cedar Shingle & Standing Seam Copper.
Lighting: Restoration Hardware Union Filament Sconce in Polished Nickel – Others: here, here, here & here.
Expanding your Dreams
“As part of the renovation, we essentially gutted the existing house, demolished an old detached garage and 3-season sunroom, and added on an attached garage, mudroom, kitchen, master suite and junior suite. While it might have been easier to demolish the entire house and start from scratch, we loved the original house and wanted to stay true to its history, charm and character. We replaced the windows, siding and roof and added architectural details to create interest and dimension while honoring the style of the original house. The newly renovated house is approximately 2,400 square feet and has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.”
Garage Lights: Restoration Hardware 18” Vintage Barn Outdoor Sconce in Weathered Zinc – similar here & here.
See some Top Products from great Interior Designers in the USA
Tumblr media
Today, we bring you the top products by the best interior designers and architects from the main markets of the United States of America. There’s a lot to see in the portfolio of these interior designers if you look them up.
Bunny Williams
Round tables are always the most inviting design: they welcome a small group or a large gathering on equal terms. The Harvest Dining table has a beautifully hand-carved hardwood top has a cerused oak finish, which was popular throughout the Art Deco era and frequently used by many notable mid-century furniture designers. Wrapped around the middle of the brushed wrought iron base is a gilt rope accent, an element that brings even more warmth to the scene, a classic touch of a Bunny Williams design.
Jonathan Adler
One of the best products by Jonathan Adler is the Reform Credenza sideboard, that is inspired by the Brutalist architecture of modernist temples and churches from Le Corbusier’s Ronchamp to Miami’s Temple Israel to the Cathedral of Brasìlia. The signature pattern originated as a relief texture sculpted in our Soho pottery studio.
The design is carved onto wooden doors and then clad in a single sheet of brass, which is hand-hammered and polished to perfection. The labour-intensive process takes eight to 12 hours per door.
Yabu Pushelberg
This bar cart is a special design by Yabu Pushelberg for Stellar Works, being part of the James Collection. The James collection is an understated exploration of modern masculinity – at once bold and defined, but also light and elegant.‎ The range includes a chaise, desk, stool and bar trolley, each one meticulously proportioned and ergonomically shaped.‎
  Martyn Lawrence Bullard
Martyn’s showroom mixes photography and art alongside choice vintage items and Italian glass chandeliers displaying his diverse designs in one place. Like this pair of vintage brass palm tree wall sconces, that can be wired for lights. Each palm leaf is detachable and individually placed on the top part.
Nate Berkus
Recently Nate Berkus created a collection for Living Spaces alongside Jeremiah Brent. A highlight of that collection if the Laurel armchair. Nate and Jeremiah fell in love with the block printed pattern on their Laurel accent chair – it reminds them of travelling and the crafts they search for on their adventures. They designed this piece to be a modern version of a classic English form.
Herman Miller
One of its best products is the Mirra 2 chairs and stools, both available in two back options, either the flexible TriFlex back or the ultra-responsive Butterfly back. Stools extend the Mirra 2 design into any setting, where seated and standing collaborators benefit from being at a common eye level.
Frank Lloyd Wright
The iconic Taliesin 1 armchair, which the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed for his own home, is now in production for the first time in 28 years. This is all thanks to the Italian brand Cassina, in partnership with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.
