Hi! I really wanted to make mc's house in a game and tried really hard to figure out the floor plan, but I wondered if you have the floor plan of the mc's house so that i can try again with more accuracy?

Hello,I recently started playing lake of voices (I put it off for a long while since I’m usually not very good with horror) and I’m really happy I did!I’m a big fan of your games in general and lake of voices was absolutely great as well.I loved the characters and the dark setting of it,I adored the beautiful art and music and the story was great too,sometimes unsettling and sometimes very sweet.My favorite Route in the game was definitely Lu,I liked his character and was really shocked and distraught by his Route at least two times.I didn’t see the plot twist(s) coming at all!

Besides these ramblings I’ve also wanted to ask if you still remember how to get the lower two CGs on page 5?I seem to always miss them and would appreciate any help.Anyways I hope I wasn’t too much of a bother and I wish the devs a great day!:)

The Final Fantasy Portal Site has published the first in a three-volume series of Final Fantasy IX interviews in celebration of the game’s 20th anniversary. Final Fantasy IX first launched for PlayStation on July 7, 2000.

The first interview is with Final Fantasy IX event design and scenario writer Kazuhiko Aoki. Volumes two and three will feature artist Toshiyuki Itahana and director Hiroyuki Ito.

―Final Fantasy IX is sometimes introduced with the phrase “returning to roots.” Where did Final Fantasy IX sit in the minds of the development team?

Aoki: “The slogans ‘returning to roots’ and ‘return of the crystal’ were there from the start. That’s why the setting of the game also has a medieval fantasy theme.”

―It is true that compared to the science fiction elements of FFVII and FFVIII, Final Fantasy IX made a sudden return to classic fantasy. There were even references to past FF titles, like character and vehicle names. Were those concepts also planned to be included from the beginning of development under the theme of “returning to roots”?

Aoki: “There were some things that were planned from the beginning, and then there were other elements that came about from those in charge of each part of the game during the creation process.

“The newborn chocobo, named Bobby Corwen…smash those names together and you get Boco.

“The foundation is 10 percent, and the remaining 90 percent comes from individual creators putting their own ideas and heart into a project. I think that’s the creation process of not only FF, but all games from Square Enix.”

―Each main character of Final Fantasy IX carries their own background story into the battles they face. Do you have a favorite character? Please tell us your reasons as well, if you have any.

Aoki: “I did my best not to have any favorites, so as not to be biased toward any specific character.

“There were backstories we wanted to elaborate on more, but sadly had to give up on due to time and data constraints.

“At the time I wished I could have developed how Zidane is afflicted by the difference in social status between him and Garnet a little more. Illustrating the breakdown of relations with the nobles in Treno due to their disapproval of Zidane and Garnet’s relationship, Zidane butting up against the social confines he faces and the incredible power Garnet holds as royalty, and how Zidane gets back up on his feet despite all of that—I felt that would have done a lot to help further portray him as a character.”

―The NPCs are also very well developed. What about them?

Aoki: “I don’t have any biases when it comes to NPC characters either. There actually wasn’t any differentiation in my mind between main characters and sub characters. Once the game’s story started to come to life on screen, my drive to develop each character even further – the steadfast reliability of Marcus or Garnet’s internal struggles, for example—only got stronger.”

―The Tantalus members Genero, Zenero, Benero and all their siblings are an unusual bunch. How did they come to be?

Aoki: “There wasn’t a trace of them until right before the game went gold. Not only limited to Final Fantasy IX, each FF series title has a period of about three to four months of quality improvements and brushing up after all elements that will be included in a game are implemented. How can we make it more interesting, what would make it easier to understand, what new discoveries can we find to add to the experience…as a creator you approach the process with a feeling similar to recreating something entirely. Those siblings came about suddenly right in the middle of that final tweaking for Final Fantasy IX.”

―The characters in Final Fantasy IX are built shorter than in previous FF games. Was there a reason for that?

Aoki: “I don’t know the reason for making the characters shorter in stature, but I did often hear that the cutscene team had a hard time making use of the know-how they gained working on Final Fantasy VIII. It was apparently a lot of trial and error.

“The characters in Final Fantasy IX excel at showing a certain sweetness or silliness, but even when they take on a totally different serious tone their expressions are so genuine. I feel that Final Fantasy IX had quite a good balance going in that sense.”

―Final Fantasy IX is known for its many popular and memorable lines. Whose idea was it to put together the loading screen of CG screenshots overlaid with words from the game and art?

Aoki: “The cutscene leader and event staff made that by picking out lines from the game. It was also the manifestation of a strong desire to show what kind of characters these were.”

―There were also many monsters with unique gimmicks, such as Ragtime Mouse’s quiz-style battle. Do you have a favorite monster or gimmick used by one?

Aoki: “I’m not sure if you could call it a unique monster, but my favorite are the black mages who appear in Cleyra. Your party characters don’t do a victory pose even if you win against them. That came from the battle system team’s consideration of the scene those battles take place in. You grow used to the characters celebrating when they win a battle, so I was really surprised the first time I saw that.

“I don’t know if this is still true, but development happened with next to no meetings between the event and battle design teams. Although that’s not to say that those teams didn’t get along.”

―Final Fantasy IX has a lot of mini games, many of which are quite difficult. Are there any you find particularly memorable?

Aoki: “Chocobo Hot and Cold. It came from the director wanting some contents that would allow traveling all over the game world. The concept came together in less than 30 minutes, but the actual creators who worked on the mini-game put a lot of time into it. Every last detail was done with such care.”

―Final Fantasy IX’s soundtrack was handled by Mr. Nobuo Uematsu. We feel that music is another important factor in expressing characters or story. If there are any songs from Final Fantasy IX that really stand out in your memory, please tell us about them.

Aoki: “That would be the song that Mr. Uematsu played for me the first time he worked at the Hawaii office.

“It was in response to me asking if he had any recommended songs from the new game—I got an idea for part of the story the second it came on. That song would eventually be titled ‘You’re Not Alone.’

“I asked, ‘Are there going to be any more changes to it?’ and he responded, ‘Yes, sorry… I’d like to tweak it a little more.’ It wasn’t finalized until the last minute, so I’m sure he really struggled with the composition of that piece.”

―Was there anything during development that was especially challenging or that sticks out in your mind?

Aoki: “The last few weeks were a battle with data restrictions. We had data increasing every day, having to think about where to divide the story so we’d end up with an amount that fit on each of the four discs. That fine-tuning took some real mental gymnastics.”

―If there’s anything else from your experiences during the development of Final Fantasy IX or messages for the many people who still love Final Fantasy IX you’d be willing to share, we would love to hear it.

Aoki: “There were about 300 people at the party celebrating Final Fantasy IX’s completion. It was developed by a team divided between Japan and Hawaii, so about one-third of the faces there I had never seen before…I was surprised all over again at how many people were involved in the project.

“I’m incredibly happy that Final Fantasy IX is loved by so many people; that’s been a huge motivator and confidence booster when facing jobs I’ve had since. I think that’s true not only for me, but also the many creators who worked on Final Fantasy IX as well. It would be nice to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary with everyone who was at the post-launch party.

“Near the end of that party, there was a moment when the sound effect team went up on the venue’s stage. ‘In Final Fantasy X, there’s going to be this thing called Blitzball, and there will be a scene with the spectators cheering. We’d love if you would all be willing to help with that!’ they said. And I thought ‘…Oh, they’ve already started working on X.’ Just when I thought things were finished, they had already begun a new Final Fantasy. It really hit me being there, this is how the Final Fantasy series continues on forever.”

what spoofer do you use for pokémon go?

i havent spoofed in forever since i rarely play go now and i can only comment on iphone as i havent spoofed on android since the game came out but i believe theres two ways currently and only 1 guarantees no warnings as far as im aware

theres ipogo which can be direct installed using a pc or using a signing app. i don't believe its free from warnings. use an alt account to be safe. it has a monthly cost but i believe teleporting is free.

there has been no banwaves for nearly 4 months but that can change at any moment.

and theres itools mobile. this is NOT the same as itools pc. its a device that allows you to spoof. i have no idea if it works on ios14 but it works on ios13.

this uses an external app which is why its pretty much safe as can be, if you follow cooldown rules. however it costs a fair bit. it doesnt have coords on it so its a little slower. this runs the same risks of android users in that 90% of bans are user error. niatic catches iphone spoofers through an altered app which is why bans are more frequent. by this logic itools mobile should be safe. note: i havent used it personally.

20: Mac or PC?

PC! i pretty much take any opportunity i can to shit talk apple products. i’m an android and pc bitch forever. i have an ipad, so i know the differences between the interfaces and apple is just so much less customizable. i need my freedom! the only downside to not having a mac is that i can’t screen record with kmplayer.

24: 480p 720p 1080p? What is the minimum quality you’ll gif from?

720p is the lowest i will go usually. it’s just super frustrating and not even worth it to use video that’s less than that bc the gifs will be ugly and grainy and do that weird fuzzy wall thing. i have files of that’s so raven that i really wish i could gif, but they’re like 480p and i just can’t put myself through that.

31: Do you schedule/queue posts or do you post right after you’re done?

always queue!!! i will NEVER post a set immediately unless i genuinely hate it and don’t want it to be seen, or if it’s time-sensitive like a request. i always schedule my stuff for at least the next day, but sometimes months in advance (for when i go back to school/work and need to keep my blog active). i also generally schedule stuff to post between 1pm and 4pm PST bc i read that that’s supposedly when this site is the most active. keep an eye out bc sometimes i will tag my long-queued posts with stuff like “this post has been queued since (date) so hello future!”

42: How is your gif folder organized? Is it organized at all?

my folder is just organized by the name of the show/movie for the most part. my gif psd folder isn’t organized at all, though, i just keep it alphabetical. and i never delete anything bc i tend to go back to certain gif files to see how i did specific colorings or effects.

46: Ever gotten a really sweet compliment over a set?

so literally every time emma (@oliviasrodrigo) reblogs any of my sets i CRY bc she’s so sweet and kind and makes me feel so appreciated! i get so excited for her to see my gifsets bc she always leaves nice comments. i don’t deserve her!

also colleen (@summercohen) is super sweet as well, and i specifically remember when i posted my very first barry gifset, she reblogged it multiple times and said so many kind words!

47: Any advice for novice gif makers/people who want to start making gifs?

so i included a “random tips” section in my gif resources masterpost, but i think the most meaningful advice i gave there was to follow and uplift other gif makers. every bit of positivity you put out comes right back to you. when you make an effort to support other people, they will want to support you. and that’s what makes this whole experience so fun.

The next observation I really look at is the smile. Each smile holds part of their personality. Then I tend to notice their height. Luckily for me, my wifey is taller than me. <3 

4. A FOOD YOU COULD EAT FOREVER AND NOT GET BORED OF:               Ooooof. If I had to choose just ONE dish, I would have to choose Lemon Pepper fish. While I love sushi, and Alfredo, the lemon pepper fish is absolutely amazing and I finally learned how to make it myself. So I won’t starve if my wife leaves for a night or two. xD

6. GUILTY PLEASURE:              Okay so I have a few guilty pleasures. First and foremost is making characters with character creators in games. I just love making them. I also have a huge guilty pleasure for shipping. I’m actually going to copy a statement that someone else made because they describe it incredibly well. 

I love healthy ships and unhealthy ships (but like, don’t glorify them. Recognize they are unhealthy and should not be idealized for RL) I just love love, and I love the butterflies and coyness and excited uncertain that leads up to the very first time a ship admits their feelings most of all.

             But yeah. More guilty pleasures. I also love editing screenshots of characters. I love playing around with the colors and shadows. 

7. WHAT DO YOU SLEEP IN:           Pajama pants. It’s rare for me to sleep with a top on, only because my wife is a massive heater and I’ll overheat if I wear too much.

8. SERIOUS RELATIONSHIPS OR FLINGS:              Hah, well I’m married soooo. In October it’ll be 2 years, but we’ve been together for almost 5 years. Longest relationship I’ve ever had! <3 We have our difficulties, yes, but we work through it and keep on trucking.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN THE PAST AND CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU AND WHAT WOULD IT BE:               If I could go back, I’d tell my boss to fuck off and stay in Texas with my dad for an additional 3 weeks. That was really the last time I got to spend time with my dad, seeing as the next time I saw him, he passed away. 

10. ARE YOU AN AFFECTIONATE PERSON:             I didn’t grow up around affection. So it took a long time for me to open up and actually showcase affection to people willingly. I’m finally getting better at it though! I want to say yes, I am an affectionate person, but I still struggle at times on whether it’s appropriate or not.

11. A MOVIE YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN:             This will forever be “Sweeney Todd”. I absolutely adore that movie. Or any of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” just because of the aesthetic.

12. FAVORITE BOOK:            Oh gosh. This is extremely hard to choose, only because I love reading. Call of Cthulhu, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones; anything from Stephen King; I read anything and everything, so choosing one as a favorite is nearly impossible.

This might be strange considering how upbeat yall are about the fandoms for your games in general, but is there any particular trope or ship you WOULDN'T want us writing/drawing/etc. in relation to your stuff? (IE, any canon you don't want us 'overwriting' or something like that?)

Of course we would want the fan content people make to not be racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted, harmful, etc. But in terms of generally doing non-canon pairings or adding in headcanons or stuff, we really don’t mind that. People are welcome to have fun and explore their own ideas.

for the 1.2 Android update was it meant to download as a  separate app? I really want to keep my previous save files but they don't show up (also thank u for the updates I'm really excited to get back into the game!!)

We had to change the name of the file and unfortunately for some phones that meant it’s treated as a brand new game. I’m sorry your saves didn’t transfer over to the new version. You can try to look up your specific phone and see if there’s a way to access save files for games on your device and then transfer those saves over to the new build manually. It may or may not be possible.

I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get the update from Itichio without losing my save files? Is it the same game or a folder I can put in the properties? Sorry if this question is not worded well or if this isn't the avenue you'd want to take technical questions on

Are you using Android? If so, the above answer may apply to you. If you’re on PC or Mac, the save files will automatically still be included.

Hey. I really loved playing our life. It was a fun experience and I never thought I would like it this much. I do have a question, I am currently replaying the game and I am choosing choices I never chose at first. In step 2 during the road trip arc, I decided to ask Cove about what he liked to see on people. One of his response was anklets and black eyes. My MC have just happens to have black eyes. Do Cove say black eyes cuz my mc have it or it was just a coincidently programmed into the game?

He uses your eye color intentionally! If you changed your eye color he’d change what he said.

Will step 4 have 10 moments like steps 1-3?

In the new ol, there are two main love interests... Would it be possible to pair them together or is that weird? 

You can’t stay single and pair them together. If we are going to add all the extra content to have a route where the two LIs get together, it’d be a full poly route where them and the MC were all dating. And that’s not a for sure option yet because it’d add a lot of extra complications. But either way, in OL the relationships all gotta be about the MC, haha.

In OL2, there will be extra LIs in form of DLCs? Like Dexter and Baxter.

Since Cove will have 2 diff body types in s4, will the storyline and dialogs reflect this? Or all of it will be the same? Btw love the game and sorry for bad english. Hope this doesn't sound rude 😅 

Some descriptions and pieces of dialog will change, but it won’t impact the story really. And you don’t need to apologize! It’s all good.

Will you ever release the transparent sprites of the Our Life characters? 

Probably not, I’m afraid. They’ve got a lot of pieces and it’d just be kind of hard to deal with, aha.

Something I was curious about, what was your inspiration for making a game with so much customization?

Initially, the idea was just about having a romance where you actually grew up with the LI. But it was pretty stressful to try deciding how fast the relationship would progress with it taking place over such a long period of time and with no real storyline carrying it. People might not wanna play a game where the characters don’t get along as kids, but other people might not bother with a game where kids immediately liked each other. So the obvious answer came, just let the player pick themselves how it goes. From there we simply continued to add more flexibly with the MC due to the same thought process of wanting to make sure people were onboard with how their life was going.

What made you decide to change the artstyle for ol 2 so much? I of course respect all your decisions and will buy the shit out of everything related to ol 2, but i love the original style and i m honestly not a fan of the styles shown on patreon, despite me liking the painterly style in general. (I don t mind the style being changed, just that the examples shown so far all feel like there s something wrong with them.) 

We’ve always used different art styles for each of our projects. They all have distinct looks from each other. It’s just nice to do something new. I’m glad you really like how the first game looks, though. And those samples were only general concepts, rather than the exact options being decided between. We wanted to see reactions to different options. The art style we’re going with won’t be exactly like those, though I personally like all of them. I think players are gonna enjoy the style Our Life: Now & Forever when it’s revealed.

Hey! Is it ok to ask what gender ourlife2 protagonist will be and if we'll be given the same opportunity to customize an MC? Totally understand if you're keeping this under wraps for now if u don't wanna say! 

OL2 will have the same type of MC customization as OL1, but even more refined! So their gender will be up to you.

Yeah, you can still choose not to go that far. Though the event is shorter if you pass on the 18+ stuff.

At the beginning of Step 2, did Cove end up accidentally falling asleep in your bed? Or did he fall asleep on the floor? 

He fell asleep sitting on the floor with his body/head leaning against the side of the bed.

This may seem like a weird question, but what exactly is the difference between "direct" and "relaxed" on the comfort scale?

Direct is blunter and more teasing, relaxed is lighthearted and goes with the flow.

Not in Step 3, but you can in Step 4.

how would Cove react if he visited somewhere like North Carolina in winter where it can get in the 20s(F) at night sometimes?

Step 4 will have the Cove Wedding DLC and the Derek and Baxter romance DLCs each add a lot of new content to Step 4, though they’re also partially set in Step 2 and Step 3 respectively. The NSFW DLC happens in Cove’s room.

I keep wondering what would've happened if Mr. Holden met Lizzie first instead of the MC. I can't see that turning out well somehow lol. 

It wouldn’t have made a difference. He met the MC’s parents first and they told him about their two kids. He wanted the MC specifically to be Cove’s friend because the two were the same age.

Even though we have a way to go I'm really excited for OL 2! I was curious though, is the next main character going to be adopted again? I thought it was really clever to make the first main character adopted so when players are customizing,  they can make them look how ever they like without worrying about pesky genetics. Just wondering! 

The OL2 MC is not adopted. We wanted to go for a new dynamic. Instead their parents are their biological single mother who is partially customizable and an off-screen sperm donor father. So the mom will look generally like the MC and any other traits not from her can be assumed to come from whoever the father was.

SO WHAT DID TYPICAL BUSINESS ADVERTISE THAT UPSET SO MANY FACEBOOK USERS?

We have been running small low budget campaigns when we publish a new podcast. This helps us get the word out about our podcast along with reaching out to those interested in business, leadership, digital marketing and how-to-guides.

If you ended up on our targeting, you would have seen a small ad in the right-hand side similar to this;

But we also wanted to run some sponsored stories. These are more personal and can be highly effective. We had a terrific response. Each day, more people LIKED our sponsored post, plus we now have 69 LIKES on our Facebook fan page – up from 12 before we began the campaign 3 weeks ago.

We’ve also had new subscribers to our email newsletter along with new subscribers to the podcast on iTunes.

All good from our end – spending on average $10 a day.

But we did get some Facebook haters.

Facebook Tommy got the ball rolling… Onya Tommy!

Tommy looks like a cool enough guy, and he’s a fireman which means he is out serving the community day by day. Awesome stuff Tommy the tank engine!

By night, he spreads Internet spam and becomes an online menace.

Ok so that’s not very aggressive, just annoying that is gets added to your timeline – especially when other Facebook users have actually LIKED your sponsored post and found it useful.

Brett thought Tommy’s comment wasn’t to the point, so he thought he’d explain the sentiment he felt, by sending us multiple spam centipedes.

Facebook Alan, however, was much more to the point. Forget spam – he just wanted to share his disdain for anyone who makes Facebook viable as a business by advertising on the platform.

It gives you a funny feeling when someone point-blank tells you where to go. It actually takes you a bit by surprise that someone who doesn’t even know you treats you this way. So, we took a closer look at Alan’s Facebook page and found out he’s a big fan of the 1980′s game Defender – but unfortunately for Alan, he really sucks and only has a high score of 10,000.

That’s pretty lame. When I was 9, my highest score was closer to 75,000 Alan. You might want to spend a bit more time playing on your Atari without being distracted by your Facebook feed.

And here is where we meet Facebook Chris.

Based on Chris’ profile picture, we can only assume he suffers from Dwarfism. Which probably explains his small man syndrome when he fired up his little belly and wrote this flaming post;

Now, we didn’t strategically target Lego lovers, so I’m not sure how Chris managed to see our sponsored posts. Nevertheless, now we know there are a few Lego fans out there that don’t want to hear about business while they’re playing in Lego land, we can add them as a profile of who not to target in our campaigns.

And it was offensive to some;

Unfortunately for Murray, we couldn’t see how the ad was offensive, so we just had to assume he was looking at a different offensive ad. He does look quite old, so it’s a safe bet he forgot what ad he was looking at that offended him.

All of the above responses came when we specifically targeted our ads to men that also suited a profile of business owners or showed an interest in leadership or digital marketing. So, in our next lot of sponsored ads, we decided we’d like to target the same demographic, except this time we would only target women.

Would the women be as angry or as aggressive as the men on Facebook?

Deb’s a little psycho, to say the least. She flies right off the deep end over an ad, on a free platform that she doesn’t pay to use. I wonder if she feels the same way when ads air on free to air television. Or perhaps when she’s driving to work listening to the radio. How about when she drives past a billboard on the side of a street. Does she look like a psycho woman with Tourette syndrome every time an ad comes on?

Deepworld’s End

We've had a wild ride. Together, we've built a truly unique experience over the years. Six whole years, to be exact! But as all things must end, so must Deepworld.

Last year, we put hundreds of hours of work into giving Deepworld new life. We launched on Android and drastically improved the PC experience. We released a number of server updates including daily challenges, minigames, and more. Unfortunately, we were unable to sustain any real growth. That leaves us today with a game that is no longer profitable, and one we are hard pressed to support given our full-time jobs.

We respect our community, so we want to give Deepworld a proper goodbye. With our remaining funds, we can operate the game and forums until the end of August, at which point both will shut down permanently.

Q&A

Could Deepworld have been saved somehow?

That's a difficult question to answer. The mobile game landscape has changed a lot since we started Deepworld. Most successful online games these days have gigantic marketing budgets and take years to see a profit. As a pair of developers with full-time jobs (and little cash to burn on advertising), it's basically impossible for Bytebin to compete with those other games, even if we were to continue releasing new content like we did last year.

Will there be a way to run private servers after the shutdown?

No. Unfortunately, Deepworld's server architecture is prohibitively complex (and old). It involves several different server applications running on different cloud providers, all properly configured to work together, all of which costs a lot of money.

Will there be a way to play Deepworld offline after the shutdown?

No. Since Deepworld uses a network pipeline for nearly all of its dynamics, creating an offline mode would involve a complete rewrite, and that is not a time commitment we can make.

What will happen to our worlds?

We plan to provide a way to access world data, and hopefully even images, after the shutdown. I will keep you posted on the progress.

What will happen to the forums?

The forums are expensive, so it's necessary for us to shut them down. However, we can obtain an archive of all the images uploaded, so we hope to provide a way for the many amazing Screenshots of the Day to live on into eternity :)

Can we get refunds?

No. Unfortunately, our funds are very limited and keeping the game alive through August is all we can do. Like any online business, purchases made in Deepworld are governed by the terms of service, and those terms dictate that the business may not last forever. If it provides any solace, your purchases are the only reason we are able to continue operating for three more months. As it stands, it would be better financially for us to shutdown without warning, but we prefer to give Deepworld and its players a proper sendoff.

Is anything interesting going to happen in the next three months?

Absolutely! Since we're riding off into the sunset, we might as well do it with a bang. Expect bigger worlds, more brains, cheaper stuff, and probably a bunch of other random shenanigans.

Will the crown store still be available?

Yes, and we will be heavily discounting items as we get closer to shutdown. Any contributions you make will be greatly appreciated by the devs, since we still have work to do in order to make sure world data is available post-shutdown, etc.
