24th June 2021: Blog 2 of 2-Second looks at South Stack and Cemlyn and more wildlife and photos from the cottage
Following on from my previous post, then today turned into an afternoon of revisits of key places this week as do often do on holidays as we firstly had one last look at one of my favourite places in the week RSPB South Stack. Here it was nice to see the sea and the lighthouse on a more misty day than on Sunday it was more misty here, our first full day here when we came looking quite moody but so nice to hear, see and smell the coast with seabirds wailing away nicely. The usual sweet sound of Guillemots and at one point I thought I heard a Kittiwake call it’s onomatopoeic call I hadn’t seen any here before so I’m not sure. As well as taking in views of the place looking really lovely I took the second and third pictures in this photoset of views here and taking in nice flowers here like Sunday especially sheep’s-bit and sea campion and dandelions too I really enjoyed seeing two Razorbills at the bottom of a bit of cliff but fairly close. A key bird this holiday which I’d not managed to succeed with a photo of yet this holiday so I got my bridge camera onto these and took the first picture in this photoset of one. Seeing Guillemots and Razorbills in their droves sailing onto and around the base of the cliff through the air was a delicious sight to enjoy and summed up what I love about this area so much.
Then we had some glorious moments as after seeing them briefly on the first full day of the holiday and working quite hard for them a key bird of this reserve we got astonishing views of some Choughs, a pair then a group of three which could have been the same pair with another added and some were possibly young the nice RSPB person we spoke to on Sunday here said there are young about. Coming down from high up towards the visitor centre it was amazing to see these super red and black crows so well flying and settling on the patch of heath and hear them perfectly too. Their sharp and high pitched onomatopoeic call is always so evocative of the rugged coast I adore and everything I love about the whole experience of the coast so much so this really filled me with much glee. What a stunning moment with one of my favourite birds, we had well and truly seen them very well at one of their hubs now Anglesey within the UK now. I was pleased to take the fourth and fifth pictures in this photoset of the Choughs. Such a big part of the coast I love is seeing Ravens and Choughs different to the crows I would see at home immediately around us. And it was nice to see a big bold Raven with its loud bark call for the first time this holiday here today. I like the Ravens at the coast as well as placed like the New Forest where I adore seeing them. I liked taking in this place I have known for ages after coming in 2016 one last time this year, including the lovely statues/carvings of Puffin, Peregrine and Sheep as well as the lovely flowers by the visitor centre which I really enjoyed seeing looking nice and colourful on Sunday. A photo I tweeted tonight involves the Puffin carving.
We then came to one of the star places this week again, the brilliant Cemlyn which we all became so fond of after the tern colony and more experience on Monday. As we arrived once more we were embraced by the sweet and stunning noise of the tern colony in full swing. We walked out to the tip of the headland and did see definitely Sandwich Tern and Common Tern possibly Arctic Tern too flying sweetly and closely over our heads. Phenomenal to see again. Oystercatcher, Curlew seen and heard well, Shelduck and Ringed Plover made greet sights here of birds that we see a lot of at home on the coast. There were some great flowers here again in the form of the ones in the sixth picture in this photoset possibly wild radish that’s the best match I could find for it which I enjoyed seeing on Monday too, of course more white clover, bird’s-foot trefoil, more lovely thrift, the first vetch I’d seen this trip a common one at home and lots of foxgloves once more. I took the seventh picture in this photoset of a really beautiful view here.
At the tip of the headland when some rain had come on we looked for what we had come this evening for, Manx Shearwaters that the nice Wildlife Trust man we spoke to on Monday said could be seen here flying by about 6pm. We knew from seeing them at Pembrokeshire in the past - we’ve seen them in Cornwall the last two years in fine weather too - that adverse weather wind and rain can bring the Manx Shearwaters in nicely. And tonight they certainly did come in well. We saw dozens flying by and got fantastic views of these amazing seabirds drifting over the ocean. They came staggeringly close into a little bay area before flying on over the Irish Sea. I even got the eighth picture in this photoset of one. I was so thrilled to see these and really take them in as one last wildlife spectacle this holiday, it was a bird that unlike Puffin, Black Guillemot et al. didn’t really become a target for this week until we were here and heard about them so this felt like a huge bonus but a bird I might not have seen elsewhere this year. So this was crucial in securing one of the best birds we have for me probably the closest I’ve ever seen it to the island that gives it its name Isle of Man and one on my B list of favourite birds for 2021 one of my birds of the year taking my year list to 169 making it outright my seventh highest ever year list now overtaking my 2013 and 2015 totals and it sits only two behind how many birds I had seen at this stage of the year during my highest ever bird year list in 2019 which I find so amazing and is testament to the injection of year ticks this week has given us with every target seen. It became a true sea watch as Gannet flew by too which was smashing to see and as well as the terns and a lovely Swift flew over.
On our last trip to Wales, Pembrokeshire 2017 I spent the final night of it looking at masses of Manx Shearwaters on a rainy evening and other seabirds from the boat around Skomer Island. And just like four years ago doing this again tonight was the perfect way to end this adventure and it’s among the closest views I’ve got of them since that remarkable night this one another remarkable night and arguably some of my best ever views of this bird.
Wildlife Sightings Summary: (South Stack) Three of my favourite birds the Chough, Razorbill and Guillemot, Herring Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Raven and lovely Rock Pipit. (Cemlyn) My first Manx Shearwaters of the year, two of my favourite birds the Gannet and Shelduck, Sandwich Tern, Common Tern, Black-headed Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Cormorant, Oystercatcher, Curlew, Ringed Plover, Stonechat, Swift, House Martin and a nice Argent and Sable moth flying around.
Favourite birds of mine Little Egret and Buzzard seen very well between the two locations was great again and we saw a Grey Heron after Cemlyn too. Seeing familiar birds at home which I hadn’t seen all week Starlings lined up on a wire at a petrol station tonight was a great moment too. And coming back to the cottage for our final night a bizarre sight of a Hedgehog in daylight was awaiting us this was a stunning moment I was able to get nicely safely close to what was my first Hedgehog seen this year and have an incredibly intimate moment with this precious and iconic mammal my third mammal year tick of the trip. This sighting deepened by appreciation for how wild the place we are staying in it. It allowed for my first ever photo of one too which I tweeted. And I also took the final two pictures in this photoset of the regular Song Thrush that’s been around singing its heart out one of my favourite bird calls I had been wanting to photograph one of the thrushes visiting the garden between this and Blackbird but not quite managed it so it was nice to have something to remember it by and a view as some cloud and mist lifted and allowed us to see the mountains we’ve become so fond of seeing potentially for the final time if its rainy/foggy in the morning.
The week away was simply incredible and one of my best times this year and I must say this about every part of the country we branch out to on holidays each year whether I know them or are new to me, most memorable holidays ever. For wildlife particularly birds and mammals it was a week of sweet reunions for species I hadn’t seen for years or some I did last year, dream moments and experiences, seeing species in a way I never had before and fantastic natural spectacles some of the best the UK has to offer. Landscape wise it was so typically Welsh with sensational views of vast mountains, dramatic coast and pretty river and woodland, and important marsh and lake habitat alike, right from the doorstep in the nicely wild and very comfy, homely and brilliant in all ways cottage we stayed in one of the best for me and further afield. Flowers, butterflies and dragonflies played a huge role in the holiday with foxgloves and red campion especially turning the place pink with some amazing moments with butterflies and dragonflies outside and other insects in the cottage such as the crane fly and moths. We had a lot of animals we got used to and loved seeing around and in the cottage just like the views with the Rabbits, Hedgehog, garden birds and even the sheep typically for Wales. The weather was varied we seemed to get a bit of most things but it added to and allowed the holiday to happen well we were lucky with it especially the sunny and warm days. Overall we obtained a strong sense of tranquility and ultimate relaxation and it was everything I’d want in a holiday. We saw all our targets wildlife wise which feels amazing, my Mum researched it all so well hours of work before coming away to know where all the species could be seen and how to get there which really paid dividends and we are so thankful for. I’m leaving feeling very endeared to Anglesey an area I loved from coming for one day before anyway I took it really to my heart and was reminded how much I love wider North Wales with a slice of Snowdonia in there and I definitely cannot wait to be back! Thanks for all your support for all my posts and photos which I am so pleased the cottage wi-fi allowed me to post on the nights.

Daryan Cities
This... took me longer than I wanted it to. >.> I’ve been working on this document since some point in January, but here we are! A compiled list of the major cities in the Daryan country, as well as a definitely-not-finished map of the entire continent. Info below the cut, because this got long.
MAP
Tumblr media
CITIES
CAPITAL
1. Argoson (550,000)
-The largest city in the Daryan country, and the one where the Palace and royal family reside. The center of the country, and possibly the most famous and esteemed city within. The city is almost directly in the center of the country-- just located slightly to the East. It sits in the midst of the plains, right on the verge of the small, hilly area that occupies the central-east of the country. The city itself rests mostly along the plains, spread out among the wide, flat land, but the very edge of it, along with the Palace itself, stretch up and out into the hills, with the Palace resting along the tallest one in the area.
GREAT CITIES
1. Inasphis (350,000)
-One of the great cities of the Daryan country. A wealthy city known for being home to some of the major noble households in the country. Located in the manufacturing center of the country, amongst such polluted areas as the White Slums. The city itself lies on the very edge of the plains, just barely crossing over into what should have been greener land. However, magic pollution has dulled the area, and the environment has become dull and gray. With a large lake and the great river nearby, the climate is rather wet, and heavy fogs and rain are common. Known for the manufacture of vital goods such as furniture, equipment, and weapons.
2. Umbralweist (300,000)
-One of the great cities of the Daryan country. A city located amidst the trees. While thankfully not close to the highly-dangerous forests, this city is located on thickly wooded land. Dense, cold forests and a cool, dry climate make up the city’s atmosphere. Known for lumber production, something in the land keeps trees growing unusually quickly. The population is defined by the upper-class, with many skilled laborers and craftsmen-- but an equal number of regular workers reside there as well. The city itself is located towards the West of the country, nearing one of the major rivers, and approaching the hills along the coastline.
3. Arcford (400,000)
-One of the great cities of the Daryan country. Arcford is located in the middle of the plains, surrounded on all sides by endless, open land. As such, agriculture is the defining feature of the city. The weather there is temperate-- not particularly cool or warm, and perfect for growing all manner of plants. The city is located on a tall, gently rising plateau where it’s possible to see for miles from the tallest buildings. The skies seem to go on forever. The people there aren’t the richest-- but the second-largest city in the country is made of a strong mix of agricultural workers and craftsmen. The city is considered a very good place to live in.
4. Staewood (275,000)
-One of the great cities of the Daryan country. The southernmost city in the country, and one known for both livestock production and exotic animals. The city is located in open, slightly hilled land, nestled in what’s almost a valley between two of the hills. The land there is open, with thick, healthy grass and vegetation perfect for feeding omnivorous livestock on. The climate is warmer, by Daryan standards, and has a fair amount of thunderstorms, as is common for the South. The people there are mostly upper and middle class. The land is owned by a combination of the government and individual farmers and is kept well-maintained. The city is also famous for importing exotic animals.
MAJOR CITIES
5. Windermere (100,000)
-One of the major cities in the Daryan country. A large city with a focus on military training and general education. This is the place where troops are taken to go through vital training, as well as where the Elite Force operates out of. The city itself is located in a hilly, near-mountainous part of the tundra, where the strong winds and harsh terrain make for a useful training ground. The city is harsh and stony, highly practical, and no one who isn’t approved is allowed to live there. High walls protect the city, and there are a variety of training grounds nearby. The climate is frigid and harsh, and is considered to toughen up the people who live there.  6. Cresa (175,000)
-One of the major cities in the Daryan country. Known informally as the White Slums, it’s a place where many lower-class people who have nowhere else to go have gathered together. Split between wealthy living and dangerous city life, Cresa is not a place to let your guard down. The city is located towards the North of the country, where the weather is colder and the land is rather desolate. It sits among slightly hilly, sparsely wooded land, and is built with tall, ever-expanding walls. The weather is cold there and thick, heavy fogs are common. Known for factories, metal-work, and the mass-manufacture of prosthetics and other such devices. 7. Hallow (100,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city formed around magic-based factories and the manufacture of many necessary goods. Located towards the North of the country, the weather in Hallow is cold and harsh. The air is polluted with magic runoff, and the landscape is almost barren. The climate is damp, chilly, and foggy, and many people consider it a very gloomy place to live. That said, there are endless stable jobs, and those who wish to make an honest living can easily find a place there. The crime rate is high, though, and there are a number of upper-ranked people looking to make money through standing on others.  8. Shasea (125,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. The city is located towards the northern edge of the plains, where the weather is just starting to turn cold. High winds and cold spells are common. The land there is flat and open, with only a few slight hills and sparse trees remaining, and much of it is used for agriculture alone. The city is spread out to make room for farms, and the area considered to be part of Shasea is great. The city isn’t particularly organized and is considered to be an eclectic, scattered place good for hiding in. The people there are of all classes, though few nobles find it a suitable environment to reside in.
9. Mirstone (125,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city centered around the growth of non-food agricultural plants and a large degree of mining. An industrious place where much important business is conducted. Considered something of a political and educational hub, as well as one of the more bustling cities in the country. Located in the Northwest of the country, close to the coastline, and just North of the hills, this city has relatively temperate, if a bit cold weather, as well as high winds. The land there is fertile, there are large deposits of minerals and metals, and the city itself is located in a crater formed from an old quarry.
10. Dreburn (100,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. Located near a large river, towards the West of the country, and near the long line of hills that occupies the West coast. The weather there is temperate, perhaps a tiny bit cold, and the high winds that are common in Mirstone also reach this city. The river nearby means that fishing is a large part of the city’s lifestyle, along with growing trees for lumber. The area nearby is wooded, not extremely so, but enough that there’s steady business as far as lumber goes. The nearby river means that there are plenty of water-based systems in the city, and the city itself is located right along the coast of the river.
11. Ranbridge (125,000)
-One of the major cities in the Daryan country. Known with disdain as the Black Slums. Split between dying noble houses, the slowly failing wealthy, and the lowest of the low, this city is regarded as one of the worst in the country. Located towards the Northeast of the plains, the city is staggered within a large dip in the ground that resembles a crater. There’s a large underground area below it, home to a group of people known as the Sewer Rats. The weather is on the temperate side, but the city itself is dirty and unpleasant. Known for organized crime, factories producing general goods, and housing the remains of many dying noble households.
12. Aerilon (125,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located on the plains, not far from the hilly region that the Capital occupies. Close to the very East border of the country, with warmer weather, but also cold snaps and a fair amount of snow. The city is on the open plains, surrounded by farms and agricultural fields, and is used mainly to produce food and other resources. The city itself isn’t the largest, but it’s occupied with strong, stable people, and is considered a worthwhile place to live. With the flat land and many roads connecting to it, it’s an easy place to reach, especially for those in the Capital. There are also a few Guard bases there.  13. Doveport (175,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located towards the very West of the plains, close to a large river stemming from the great river, as well as some of the more dangerous forested areas in the country. The area is one of rich land and stable agriculture, which is how the city developed. The city itself is centered around a large hill rising out of the plains, with the largest, most important buildings resting on its peak. There are massive farmlands surrounding the city, as well as a number of small villages circling it. Like many of the large cities, Doveport is regarded as a relatively safe and stable place to live.
14. Wheldrake (100,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located in the middle of the plains, surrounded by open land and wide skies. A good area for agriculture, which is the main business done there. Processing of food items is commonly done in Wheldrake, as is the growing of crops in the surrounding areas. The city itself rests squarely in the open plains and has few remarkable features regarding its location. The population is relatively small, and the city is considered a slow, peaceful place to live-- that is, aside from the dangers posed by its close location to Ranbridge. There have been known to be some problems with criminals in Wheldrake.
15. Fastead (175,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located near a large lake and amidst hilly land. The area is used for a wide variety of purposes; namely fishing, livestock production, and the manufacture of magical items. The city is a very bustling, intense place with a wide variety of jobs and duties to be done. It’s home to a wide variety of people, but it’s of note that there seems to be a high population of Bluescales. The city itself takes up space both on and between the hills that make up the land, and is known for having many steep roads and confusing pathways. It’s a rather technologically advanced area as well.
16. Redwick (125,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located in the plains. Like many of its type, Redwick is primarily centered around agriculture. Dry-climate plants grow particularly well here. The city started out small, but quickly expanded during Galienne’s rule. The city itself is located on the open plains, surrounded by flat land and fields of grain. There are many extremely old historical locations there, and large parts of the city contain walls that are about a thousand years old. The city is considered to be rather busy and bustling, with a lot of trade and travel going on. However, it’s also well-maintained and known to be decently safe for living.  17. Kanniar (175,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. Another city located in the open plains. A sprawling city know for a massive amount of activity and a large population. The city is surrounded by plains, but over the years, has become extremely large and active. It’s an agricultural city that also specializes in manufacturing and magic. There are few things not going on in Kanniar, as people say. The city itself is fairly technologically advanced and stays highly up-to-date on the newest magical developments. This may be due in part to its proximity to Xalas and the Scarab tower.
18. Edophia (100,000)
-One of the major cities in the Daryan country. A relatively small city nestled between the plains and some of the thicker forest. It’s considered a fairly dangerous place to live because of its proximity to the forests, but because the land is decently wooded and good for growing plants, the city is also something of a hub for agriculture and lumber. For its size, Edophia is very productive and supplies many resources to the rest of the country, and is thus looked upon fondly. The city itself is in the middle of thickly wooded land (although nowhere near the extent of the forests), and is built in tiers through the woodlands and hilly ground.  19. Xalas (125,000)
-One of the major cities in the Daryan country, as well as home to the Scarab Tower-- the greatest hub of magic in the country. A place of study, development, and new technologies. Living there is coveted. Location-wise, the city is located towards the South of the country, just south of the plains, and North of some of the thinner forests. The city rests in open, lightly wooded land and among slight hills. The land is rich and livable, the air is clear, the climate is temperate, and overall, Xalas is considered to be one of the best places in the country. That said, the standards are high, and not just anyone can make it in the city without something to their name.  20. Halfmouth (125,000)
-One of the major cities of the Daryan country. A city located near some of the thickest, most dangerous forest on the continent. The city is situated in wooded land, and covers a massive amount of land. It consists of many spread-out farms connected by buildings and well-maintained roads, which are altogether arranged in a shape that resembles a crescent moon. Known for livestock production in particular, with many meat-production and trading centers within it. The city is a relatively unsafe location, as its spread-out nature means that it’s easy for people to seemingly disappear. There’s a high crime rate, especially regarding theft.

Hana: Masterpiece
Shinsuke had a paintbrush in his mouth, the handle between his lips. He hummed around it as he brushed a stray drop of paint away from a dried section.
Missy had her own piece she was trying very hard to paint some roses. By the ocean. She swore loudly when she messed up. “Fuck.”
He looked over at her, paintbrush still in his mouth. "What wrong?" He asked around it.
“Nothing I screwed up it’s fine.” She said looking at the blob of bright pink.
"Need help fixing?" He asked, taking the paintbrush out of his mouth.
“Umm well.” She glanced at it. “Yes.” She replied. “I can’t art."
"Yes you can." He said, walking behind her and reaching around her shoulder to fix the mistake.
“Can you show me?” She asked. “Tell me what to do and then let me try?” She asked. “Move my hand for me if I don’t get it.”
"Sure!" He replied. "You need smaller brush." He said, tossing the one she was using into the glass of water. He gave her a rounded one and dipped it into the color. "Long, smooth strokes okay?"
“Mmmm okay like this?” She asked doing not quite what he had said. “Mmmm.” She said looking at the flower.
He took her hand gently, grasping the end of the brush. "Like thiiiiis." He said, making a fluid line with her hand.
Missy was quiet. She looked at him her eyes shimmering. “Okay.” She said softly. Her heart hammering and her stomach churning. She felt so small in his touch.
He took the brush from her. "This, you can fix like this." He said as he made a motion with the brush. He was too wrapped up in the process to notice her watching him.
Missy gazed at him. She was so in love she could barely stand it. She stopped her hand and leaned up and kissed him sweetly. He smiled at her when they pulled away. "What that for?"
"I dunno I just wanted to kiss you." She told him. "I happen to have feelings for you." She laughed. "The kind that make me wanna kiss you." He let out a soft laugh and kissed her again. "I have feelings for you too."
Missy dipped her finger in pink paint and swiped it on his cheek. She giggled out of the kiss.
"You leave your mark on me." He teased, dipping his fingers into the red paint he had been using and painting a streak down the bridge of her nose.
Missy crossed her eyes to look at it and smiled making a face at him.
He grinned and kissed her. "You silly!"
Missy kissed him back. "the world is too serious, brevity is needed." She said as she stuck her fingers in blue paint and smeared it on his chest. She stepped away and giggled.
Shin rolled his eyes. "I glad I shirtless!" He teased.
Missy smiled. "I’m glad you're shirtless too." She said as she smeared more paint. "Why did you roll your eyes at me!"
"You always go for my chest." He laughed. "You know my secret."
"oh no I just like your chest." she told him. "but i like a lot of things about you."
He took green pain and smeared it along her jaw. "I like lots of thing about you too."
Missy giggled at the paint. "Oh yeah like what?" She asked him. "I like your arms." She smeared red paint on his arms and the curves of his biceps.
"I like your lips." He said, giving her another kiss.
Missy kissed him back. "I like your smile." She nuzzled him.
"I like kissing your forehead." He said, kissing I be for he streaked it with yellow paint.
Missy giggled when he did this.she took pink and drew a heart on his cheek too. Then grinning evilly she flicked a paint filled brush on him.
"No fair!" He said, flicking paint at her in return.
"EEEE!" She yelped flicking paint at him and running around his apartment. She giggled at him. She liked playing the catch me if you can game Missy giggled. "I like holding you hands." She smeared purple paint on them. He leaned forward to kiss her intensely.
Missy kissed him back with the same intensity. “Mmm.” She mumbled.
Shin pulled his chair closer to hers and sat, leaning forward to kiss her again.
Missy melted into the kiss. We no get paint all over my apartment Missy-chan!" He called as he chased her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her onto the leather sofa.
Missy giggled. “Eeee !” She squealed when he pulled her down. She struggled against him. “Let me gooooo!” She laughed.
"No No no!" He smiled, peppering her face with kisses.
Missy giggled and stilled in his arms letting him have his way with her. “Fine.” She Said kissing his lips.
He lay down between her legs, his weight braced on his elbows as he hummed and smiled into the kiss. Missy was okay with this. She kissed him back slowly and tenderly. She liked him a lot. She hummed happily her hands rubbed his chest.
"My hana so sweet." He said, giving her small sweet kisses.
Missy gave him back small sweet ones too. She bit at his bottom lip but then thought better of it. "Sorry." She whispered.
"It okay." He said before he kissed her back, more intensely before rain started sputtering against the windows.
Missy returned the intense kisses. She moved her body against his. "Mmmmm. Shinsuke."
One hand ran down her side as they kissed. Missy moaned. She moved her body on his. Her hand moved down his side and started to rub his crotch.
His hand slid beneath her shirt to run across her belly then tease the waistband of her denim shorts. "Shinsuke.” She breathed. Her hand dove into his short an boxers and she took a ahold of his cock. She started to stroke as she intensified the kisses.
He gasped against her mouth, hardening on her hand as she stroked. "Ah, Missy!"
"Mmmmm Shinsuke." She said as stroked him. His cock growing stiff. She liked that feeling, she liked the way he sounded when he gasped. She had yet to hear his pleasured cries and she was eager.
He moaned and moved to lay beside her on the couch. His hand slid beneath her panties, clever fingers searching for her wetness.
“Mmmm baby.” She moaned. She wiggled out of her shorts with one hand. Missy stroked him harder. “Oh wow.” She looked down at his crotch.
"Hmm?" He enquired as he found the little hub of nerves between her legs. He gathered some of her wetness and began stroking it.
“You’re a grower.” She breathed she went to be smart but he found her clit. “Ohhhhhh!”She moaned.
"Mmm that the spot?" He teased before he kissed her.
“Mmmmmm!” She moaned and took her hand off his cock. She pulled her shorts down and allowing him to see her sex for the first time. It was surrounded my blondish brown hair and it’s pink full lips were blooming.
He smiled at her. "What a beautiful flower, Missy." He said as he moved down her body.
Missy blushed. “I’m sorry it’s fuzzy.” She breathed slightly embarrassed.
He chuckled. "Let me know I make love to a woman." He replied. He lay a kiss on her sex before he parted her lips and began licking the sensitive flesh before he made his way to her clit.
Missy groaned. “Ohhh ohhhh!” She squirmed under him. She had had other men before. And women. But so far none of them had gotten her this sensitive so quick.
He gave her a wide grin from between her legs, watching her reaction before he licked her with a broad stroke I his tongue again.
“Ohhhhh!” She cried out. Her sex fluttering briefly. She spread her legs wider.
He ran his hands along her thighs, running his thumb up the seam of her. He was taking his time teasing her.
Missy’s Head was foggy with lust. Clear thick arousal coating her entrance. “Mmmmmm!” She breathed and she played with a nipple.
He went back to licking and sucking her clit lightly into his mouth.
Missy squirmed under him. “Ohhh shinsuke! Oh my god!” He was good, really good. She was feeling the coil in her belly begin to tighten. “Ohhhhh god!” She bit her lip.
He prodded gently with a finger to sink into her. He began moving it in and out of her slowly before he added another.
Missy gasped. “Shinsuke!” She managed as all breath left her body. “Oh shit!” She ran her hand through her hair. She tugged on his. Her walls tightened around his fingers.
He turned his fingers upwards and starting stroking upwards, feeling for that spot.
“AHHHHHH!” She called out. “Ahhh god! Oh god!” He had found her spot. “Mmmm mmmmmm!” She claws at the couch behind tight lips. It was his first time hearing her in the throws of passion.
He went back to tasting her as he stroked with his fingers, feeling proud of himself.
Her sex tightened once more. “Oh oooooh ohhhhhhh!” She called out. “Ooohhhhhh Shinsuke.” She tossed her head. Her sex now just pulsing with pleasure. The coil getting tighter. “Ohhh ohhh!” She whimpered. Her sex squeezed even tighter. She was close.
"Come for me hana." He coaxed, fingers moving in and out of her. Missy gripped at his hair and let out a scream as she came hard. Her walls squeezing his fingers and fluttering around them. Her thighs squeezed his head and tugged on his hair. He panted and moaned.
He grinned up at her. "Ah, my girl!"
Missy was still coming. She panted as the squeezing became less frequent. “Oh my god Shinsuke that was...that was.” She looked down at her sex as liquid puddled onto his leather couch.
"Yeah?" He smiled. "I do good job?"
“Yeah.” She breathed. “Are you ready to go all the way?” She asked him sitting up.
"Just...how Americans say it? Fool around?" He grinned. "Now not special enough."
Missy nodded. “Yeah just fooling around.” She Said as she eyed his tented shorts. She put her hands in his thigh. “At least let me repay you.” She spoke getting up. “Sit normally.” She Said to him.
He moved to take his shorts off and sat, his arm across the back of the couch. Missy ogled the size of his cock. “Ohh Shinsuke!” She said taking it in her hand. “Look at that cock.” She cooed.
He smiled. "Call it ochinchin. Cock too dirty a word for my beautiful flower."
Missy nodded. “Your Ochinchin is wow.” She said before she licked up the sides of him.
Shin shivered and hummed his approval.
She licked him more and then put just his tip in and sucked that while she dragged light touches over his shaft.
Shin lay his head back and moaned, enjoying her movements.
Missy had never heard his sound before and was eager for more. She took him in her mouth and began to suck. Her hand cupping his balls.
"Ah! Ahhh!" He sighed, his hand making its way to her hair.
Missy continued to suck. Her tongue running over his tip and her finger found her target. His crease on his sack. She was waiting for his cries as she stroked that sensitive crease.
He let out a cry, his hand tightening in her hair. "Ahh Missy!"
Missy hummed against his cock. She could feel his balls tighten. She ducked him harder and massaged his balls.
Shinsuke started squirming, his hands in her hair and gripping the throw pillow. "Missy! Missy! I'm-" He tried to warn her before he came.
Missy was almost surprised when she felt his cock pulse and her mouth full with his seed. He had shot six massive times into her mouth.
Shin's body was relaxed against the couch as he panted. "Ah, hana!"
Missy took her mouth of his cock. Some of his cum dribbling from her mouth and down her chin and onto a breast. She swallowed and looks up at him. The cum glistening on her.
He cleaned her mouth with his thumb and sighed, a slow smile spreading across his face. She smiled. “Was that good?” She asked watching his face.
He nodded with a smile. "Mmm too good!"
Missy quirked her head and stood up and bent over her ample ass in his face. “What do you mean too good?” She asked nervously.
He sat up and kissed her ass cheek. "A compli-ment. You very good at that!"
Missy smiled and laughed when he kissed her ass. “Why thank you.” She shimmied her shorts on. “I know what a man wants.” She went and swished put her mouth and then came to sit next to him. “That was fun.” She kissed him.
"Mmhmm." He replied. "Get to know each other little better." He smiled.
“That’s the idea.” She Said kissing his cheek. “Mmmm you gonna go brag now.” She teased him. She nuzzled him.
"Gentleman never kiss and tell."
Missy giggled. The rain had picked up and a loud crash of thunder ripped through the air. Missy jumped and screamed.
Shin pulled her into the couch with him. He struggled to climb back in his shorts before he pulled her close.
Missy shivered. “Sorry about that.” She apologized. “I really don’t like thunderstorms.” She told him. Lightning flashed and the thunder cracked and she buried her face in his chest. “Shinsuke can I stay the night.”
He pet her hair and held her close. "Of course hana."
“I know it’s a childish thing to be scared of but they were never this bad in Vermont.” She told him. “Hey you wanna order pizza and watch something stupid or you can show me your favorite movie.” She asked as she shivered. A louder crash and she practically jumped in his lap.
He pulled her into his lap. "I cook and we watch Howl's Moving Castle."
“Okay.” She told him. Missy was nuzzled up against him and she looked awfully precious. “What are you going to make?” She asked.
He picked his phone up and snapped a picture and posted it to Instagram. He captioned it 'My Hana so cute! Scared of thunderstorm!"
Missy laughed. “Gentlemen don’t kiss and tell but thunderstorms are okay?” She giggled and kissed his cheek. Everyone already knew she was scared of them.
"Mmhmm!" He smiled. "I have frozen pizza. Let me go set oven, then we cuddle." He said before he got up and walked to the kitchen.
Missy nodded. “Okay.” She turned on his tv and flipped through the channels. She wrapped herself in blanket. She waited for him to comeback. He set the movie and she cuddled up against him content to be In his arms.

The weather in Costa Rica has a much bigger impact on vacation planning than it does in many other parts of the world, even in Central America. The best time to go to Costa Rica isn't even consistent across this small but multi-faceted country. There may be torrential rain the whole month in Monteverde, but you may have clear skies in the Papagayo Peninsula or on the Caribbean beaches.
In general, this is a tropical climate, so there's a dry season and a wet season. What you're going to pack is based on that---not on temperature. No matter what time of year you go, you're probably going to have highs in the high 80sF and lows in the 70s. You don't need layers unless you're going up into some mountains.
If you want to be sure to avoid any rain, this country has a shorter dry season than most. The rainy season in Costa Rica can be as long as mid-April through mid-November in the wettest parts of the country. In the Osa Peninsula you're looking at 20-30 inches of rain per month some of those months.
The best bet for getting blue skies and sun is December through April for the interior and the Pacific Coast. Of course this coincides with when everyone else is going who is looking at the weather patterns, so crowds can be heavier. It's not like the crowds drop to nothing in what the local tourism industry promotes as "green season" though. Since families have vacation breaks and couples have an easier time getting off work when the most rain is falling, the hotels and tour companies still get a fair number of clients. You can find better rates then, but the places won't be empty.
Here's a rundown of what to expect in some of the most popular areas for organized tours in the country.
Guanacaste Weather Throughout the Year
Weather in Liberia, which is a more convenient airport than San Jose if you're vacationing here, is much drier than the rest of the country outside of rainy season and can actually get a bit brown and dusty while they're waiting for the rains to return. The precipitation levels are next to nothing from December to April and even in the month with the highest rainfall (September), it averages out to less than a half inch a day.
So if you are looking for just a "kick back at the beach and pool" vacation in Costa Rica, you're probably okay any month of the year. Head to Andaz Peninsula Papagayo or the Four Seasons and let them pamper you. Enjoy some water sports, see a little wildlife, and have fun.
Volcano Views and Rain at Arenal Volcano
People come to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano region for three reasons: travel adventures, a volcano view, and hot springs. You can enjoy that last one even if it's raining---and whitewater rafting too for that matter---but many people are disappointed when their one day in the region has clouds and rain obscuring the volcano.
One way to be sure you're not coming all this way to watch a rain storm is to time it right. Even if you're only in the area for a day or two, it's a pretty safe bet you'll have clear skies in December, January, February, and March. The worst times to visit Arenal are mid-May through late October. In other words, bring the kids during Christmas break, not during their summer vacation.
If you're vacationing in La Fortuna during a rainy month, your best hope is to pray to the rain gods or to get up early in the morning to see the volcano. (That's a lot easier if you're staying in a resort with a view of Arenal.) Unless it's raining when you wake up, the downpour will probably not happen until mid-day.
The Cloudforest Comes With Rain in Monteverde
The Monteverde Cloud Forest is one of the most popular places to visit on multi-city tours of Costa Rica, especially for those coming to the country on their first visit. It's a great spot for learning about tropical plant life and maybe spotting colorful birds or a sloth.
Water is life in this ecosystem, so there's at least a little rain and cloud cover all year. Some days are downright foggy. The driest months are January through March, next are April and December. The animals don't mind the rain as much as we do though, so you may see more with fewer humans around in the other months.
Jaco, Quepos, and Manuel Antonio Weather Patterns
Manuel Antonio National Park is the most popular in Costa Rica, despite the aggressive monkeys, because it's easy to get to and is near a long stretch of beach that's good for sun and fun. Most tours of Costa Rica come here first or end up here toward the end of the trip. To get there you pass near Jaco, where a lot of expats live, and the commercial hub of Quepos.
The weather in Manuel Antonio and nearby areas is similar to the rest of the Pacific coast, with the driest months being December through March. The Costa Rica rainy season is not really all that rainy here though, with more afternoon showers than days-long deluges. The average rainfall is 8-12 inches during the worst months.
Caribbean Costa Rica Has Different Weather
The best time to visit Costa Rica is a little bit different if you're talking about the Caribbean side of the country. The coasts are so close that some companies run biking trips from one to the other that only take a few days, but when it comes to precipitation they can be complete opposites.
This chart above is from Puerto Limon, home to La Cameleon Resort we've got covered in our reviews. As you can see, the best times to visit there are September and October, when it may be pouring down buckets on the other side of the mountains. If you're planning to visit Costa Rica in September or October, work the Caribbean beaches into your plans and do your jungle treks there instead.
Let an Expert Sort it Out
As you've probably figured out by now, timing your travels around the best time to visit Costa Rica is not very straightforward or predictable. Plus there are a lot of choices on where to go and what to do. I've been there four times now and would still be hard-pressed to find places on a map or figure out how to get there in a car. Half the time what looks like a short distance on a map is really five or six hours away, so then you're better off taking an internal prop plane flight.
If you work with a travel specialist like Costa Rica Dream Adventures, you can let someone else sweat the details and get you the best experience for your budget. They have tours focused on luxury, adventure, wildlife, or other interests. Naturally they can help plan a multi-generational tour, a buddies fishing trip, or a week of romance too.
If you want to check the average weather patterns on a destination we haven't covered here, this site for travelers has good in-depth info on temperatures, sunny days, and precipitation.

May 20: Croatia & Bosnia & Herzegovina, Oh My!
Raise your hand if you know where Croatia is!
(I didn’t a month ago)
Raise your hand if you know the difference between Bosnia and Herzegovina!
(I didn’t until a week ago)
Raise your hand if you can name 1+ city in either of those countries!
(I still cant- Slovenian is a tough language)
And I’m back! It was our second to last trip and to be completely honest, I had low expectations. What kind of fun would a country I’ve never even heard of be? Thank GOD Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina proved my incredibly ethnocentric self so so so wrong and blew me away.
Before I went, all I had heard about the entire region was:
“Oh my gosh, it’s so beautiful!”
To which I immediately thought:
“Oh my gosh, literally everywhere I’ve been is breathtaking- that’s nothing new.”
Furthermore, as if to add to my bad attitude in going to Croatia, Maddie and I got home from Greece on Thursday afternoon, and at 6:45am Friday morning we were in a death-defying taxi ride to the airport preparing for a FULL DAY of traveling. We didn’t finally touch down in Croatia until 4:30pm. It’s hard to be excited and positive at that point. The late emergence of my 12-year-molars and an overcast day took a bad mood to a downright nasty mood.
We stayed in Villa Antea, an apartment complex only a short bus ride away from the heart of Dubrovnik- not the capital of Croatia but a cultural hub. I did a bit of research on the country I was in: Croatia is a long skinny country bordering the Mediterranean sea. It was part of the former Republic of Yugoslavia and was occupied by the Axis powers in WWII. The people are known as “croats” and the entire region went through some very serious political and ethnic wars just a short while ago in the early 90′s (I’ll talk about that more later). Croatia has more than a thousand islands and a cliff-y coast line, which we were snuggled up against.
Tumblr media
Dubrovnik is very close to the southern border of the country and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it has a long history as a maritime trading port. We focused our energy in the Old City portion of the city- constructed in the 13th century. The Old City had narrow brick-laid streets, surrounded by massive walls and sprinkled with clock towers and churches. Maddie and I ventured into the Old City with no particular plan and were engulfed by history.
Tumblr media
(I’ve become a big fan of architecture since coming to Europe- it’s rather hard to not)
Tumblr media
(We stumbled across a workshop where coral jewellery is made and the craftsman even gave us a little presentation and helped us understand how pieces are priced)
Tumblr media
(the cute paved streets were lined with old buildings and artisan storefronts)
Tumblr media
(A staircase leading to nowhere)
Tumblr media
(One of the shops we went into was an artist trying to sell these adorable minnow paintings. They reminded me so much of snorkeling and the little fish that live along every coastline I’ve been to. It was my *splurge* of the trip)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(most churches are open to the public so long as you remain respectful. We went inside two or three of the churches because Maddie loves looking at the European staples and found this adorable little grotto)
Before long, we had accidentally discovered the harbor and took a glass bottomed boat out for a cruise. It offered some really amazing views of the old city, as well as a really neat perspective of the seafloor and coral reefs. Considering I had just been snorkeling in crystal clear waters just a few days ago, I was underwhelmed by the glass-bottom part of the experience, but the Captain of our little boat let me sit up by him where I got to feel the wind in my face and get splashed by the cool waters.
Tumblr media
(all smiles from this gal!)
Tumblr media
(just a neat experience!)
Tumblr media
(we got up close to the caves that are carved into the coastline)
So as if that wasn’t enough for the day, we still had two things we wanted to try: take a cable car to the top of the mountain over the city, and climb the city walls (certainly not experiences for those who are afraid of heights). The cable car was a pleasant experience that offered panoramic views of the entire city. Maddie and I enjoyed a pre-dinner snack of draft beer and ice cream at the edge of the mountain before heading down to climb fifteen million steps to summit the old city walls.
Tumblr media
(a *candid* edgy pic of me at the very top, in front of the Old City)
Tumblr media
(a foggy day gave us a 10% discount at the restaurant, but every now and then the fog would clear and we got spectacular views. You can clearly see the outline of the Old City in this picture)
Tumblr media
(Cutie roomies- there is nobody I’d rather spend this time with!)
youtube
(the ride down the mountain- sped up for your viewing pleasure!)
Tumblr media
(it blows my mind that people are writing on a UNESCO World Heritage site. Unfortunately, graffiti like this has been peppered on much of the historical sites I’ve viewed)
Tumblr media
(the walls offered panoramic views of both the city and the sea. I could get used to this!)
Tumblr media
(on the left is the church where we found the little grotto. On the right is the mountain we took a cable car up!)
Tumblr media
(sharing a view with the seagulls!)
Tumblr media
(Dubrovnik is definitely a foodie’s paradise- especially if you’re into eating in unique and interesting locations!)
Tumblr media
(I do feel a little bad for the residents who live near the city walls. Privacy is clearly scarce)
The next morning, Maddie and I got up early to venture to Cavtat, a small fishing village with crystal blue waters and a much smaller tourist presence before going back into the Old City with our pal Kalinda for drinks and some stray-cat snuggles. It was a shorter and more relaxed day than the first day because we were both worn out AND we were going to a new country the next day!
Tumblr media
(I wished that I had brought my swimsuit so I could’ve spent more time in the water!)
Tumblr media
(Kalinda is such a sweetie! Kalinda, Maddie, and I went in on a “Dubrovnik Classic XXL” cocktail and had no regrets and lots of giggles)
youtube
(enjoying a beer with dinner- wearing my favorite shirt in honor of Mother’s Day!)
Tumblr media
(sufficiently buzzed, Maddie caught this pic of a smug Cass with watermelon gelato in hand, playing with stray cats)
So for our final day of this particular trip, we got up and got in a van destined for Bosnia and Herzegovina. A small country, Bosnia and Herzegovina is usually just called Bosnia for ease, but Bosnia is the northern region whereas Herzegovina is the southern region. Bosnians and Herzegovinians are the same ethnic group, same language, and essentially the same people. To my understanding, it’s the same situation as Southerners and Northerners in the United States. Bosnia and Herzegovinian was recently tangled up in a civil war and experienced an intense genocide. I’ll be the first to admit that I do not know the motivations behind the war and genocide, nor do I really understand the conflict, but I was excited to go into the country. With a start, I realised that this was the closest I had ever been to a war zone, with the exception of the 9/11 memorial in New York City. Its a humbling experience to walk among buildings that were reconstructions of the originals- the original historical sites having been bombed. Even more humbling is seeing the old and young in their shops and restaurants and knowing that many of them have a working memory of the war and atrocities.
Tumblr media
(there are many abandoned buildings and our tour guide informed us that unemployment is around 40% all throughout the country)
Tumblr media
(wild lavender plants outside the city)
To my professor’s dismay, I slept almost the entire way to Mostar from Dubrovnik and missed out on a large portion of the tour guide’s spiel (sorry Kim!). However, I did learn that Mostar was established by the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century and has a strong liberal muslim culture to this day. To my delight, the Imam’s call to prayer welcomed me into the city- a sound I learned to love in Morocco. We were given the opportunity to explore an area of Mostar that had been completely destroyed in the recent war but has been reconstructed with historical accuracy in the following years.
Tumblr media
(gnocchi and cream sauce)
Tumblr media
(frigid waters cut this city in half)
Tumblr media
(mosque towers are intermixed with church steeples. SO COOL)
Tumblr media
(the view from lunch really captures the essence of Mostar. The most famous sight in the city is the UNESCO certified bridge which young men and boys jump off of to prove their masculinity as a rite of passage. Up on the hill is a cross to represent the Catholics in the area, and to the right is a store selling copper plates. The light ‘tink tink tink’ of hammers against copper provided the background for our lunch)
Then began the trek back home again, and once again I slept almost the entire ride. I did wake up when we pulled over to look at some waterfalls. Being from the midwest (aka the flattest place in the world), waterfalls to me have always been trickling streams and an overrated phenomenon to me. I still can’t believe what I saw that afternoon. Thousands of gallons of water cascaded over lush cliff walls. It seemed like a scene from the Amazon, not Europe. The water was cool and refreshing, and I’m pretty sure this view was in my top five for the entire semester.
Tumblr media
(of course it was heavily raining so we were damp and cold when we hiked to the falls but Maddi and I were both re-energized by the beauty)
Tumblr media
(it’s hard to not believe in God when you see something like this.)
Tumblr media
(even boosted colors don’t quite capture how spectacular this sight was)
Tumblr media
(a full panorama of the falls)
youtube
(a video of the falls & the car ride through the countryside)
So that was Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina! All I can really say about those countries is that they really are beautiful- a step above the rest! Now, as much as I would LOVE to continue writing about how amazing this last weekend was, I’m unfortunately using this blog post to procrastinate on a paper and I ought to get back to that (if anyone is super interested in Saint Paul’s Shipwreck and how it effected Christianity and Maltese Identity- I’m your girl). Send prayers as I move into my final two weeks here, take a weekend trip to Sicily (the same time Trump will be there- of freakin’ course), and prepare to go home.

Fox N Forests – A Blast from the Past
With their colorful platformer FOX n FORESTS, Bonus Level Entertainment intend to revive the 16-bit era and at the same time build a »pixel pipeline« to be able to produce games of various genres with a pixel look more effectively and quickly – assembly line nostalgia at its best.
Those who remember classics like »Super Ghouls’n Ghosts« or »Wonder Boy in Monster Land«, will know immediately which kind of games inspired us to develop »FOX n FORESTS«. FOX n FORESTS wants to revive the 16-bit era and add many additional elements; not only from the games just mentioned, but also from classic series like Mario, Sonic and Zelda. FOX n FORESTS is a modern 2D action platformer in a 16-bit look with role-playing and puzzle elements as well as a core mechanic linked to them, giving the player seamless control of the seasons by the press of a button. The whole thing is rounded off by a fun story in the style of a fable.
Successful Kickstarter
FOX n FORESTS’ Game Director Rupert Ochsner and Executive Producer Holger Kuchling founded the studio Bonus Level Entertainment in 2016. Together with Independent Arts Software from the German town of Hamm as well as talented freelancers from all over Europe, the company intends to revive the heyday of 16-bit games. For this reason, the developers already think beyond FOX n FORESTS and plan to build their so-called »pixel pipeline« consisting of structures that allow the studio to effectively turn a series of ideas and genres into high-quality software in pixel-style. To get their idea going, the team consisting of long-time programmers and artists ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for FOX n FORESTS, which earned them as much as 107,875 euros in August 2016, clearly exceeding the targeted amount of 95,000 euros.
New interpretation of the  16-bit look and feel
The core mechanic and basic idea of the game is the change of the seasons, which is seamlessly integrated into the gameplay. Apart from close combat and ranged attacks, protagonist Rick the Fox is also able to manipulate the seasons from moment to moment in each level. With the press of a button the player switches from spring to fall, from summer to winter etc., depending on the level. But as enthusiastic as the team was about this special feature, they thought hard about how to transfer the 16-bit look and feel to today’s time. The requirements were clear from the start: Nostalgia, yes, but in combination with modern game design. So, they made sure to exactly imitate the color range of the Super Nintendo and also to adjust the sound to the technical limitations of the 16-bit machine; however, elements like the then predominant ratio of 4:3 had to be discarded; FOX n FORESTS will feature a 16:9 look. There were a lot of other factors which required attention, especially in terms of game design, look & feel and technology.
Game design
If you take a look at the development of the gaming genres since the rise of the 16-bit consoles, you can spot one trend across all genres: A lot of games feature RPG elements, no matter whether platformers, racing games, action-adventures or shooters. Even sports games today include complex career modes. This development is comprehensible since the elements mentioned are a great asset for most of the games as they generate additional depth and, above all, long-time motivation.
This depth can also be found in FOX n FORESTS. The developers have integrated a currency system and created a hub area which offers various shops and where you can learn new moves, find hidden bottles and fill them with potions as well as expand your life and magic meters. As a further adjustment to modern gaming behavior, the classic »Game over« was discarded. The backtracking embedded in the game concept is entertaining and integrated in a contemporary fashion, and the so-called »reward system«, too, follows a modern approach. Ideally, the players are to be rewarded for every single minute they spend with FOX n FORESTS. These rewards include the integration of a number of super secrets, well-hidden secret paths and hard-to-unlock bonus levels. On top of all this, the game still also caters to passionate core gamers who are looking for a real challenge.
Bonus Level Entertainment have a special passion for the 16-bit era. FOX n FORESTS is only one of many planned games in a number of different genres.
Despite all kinds of modernization measures, the retro character is kept up in a lot of other situations, for example through the use of cheat codes which you can unlock via gamepad input in the main menu, or via classic »mode 7« effects (a texture-mapping mode of the Super NES console and the Game Boy Advance handheld, which allows to rotate and scale a background level, among other things), a feature most players will still remember from Super Nintendo.
In order to achieve the aspired fast platformer gameplay in the style of »Mega Man« or »Castlevania« without restraining the change of seasons, the team decided during the pre-production phase to switch between two pre-defined rather than four possible seasons per level. This allows for a number of creative possibilities without causing a »trial and error« feeling in the gamer. The result: The player doesn’t have to stand in one spot for too long and go through all sorts of decision options, but seamlessly integrates the change of seasons in his game. Obviously, there are still a few puzzles, but it’s now more about finding them than taking ages to solve them.
In one world you can change from spring to winter, in another one you can switch from spring to fall or from winter to summer. Water will freeze and thus become passable, fog will clear, wind will blow, rain will put out flames, etc. Animals, too, are affected by the change of seasons: Aggressive wasps sleep in winter, while vigilant crows rather hatch their eggs in spring. So, there are a lot of secrets to uncover, skill tasks to complete, and hidden paths to be found without affecting the fast gameplay experience in a negative way.
Look and feel
One of the basic questions arising from the decision to imitate 16-bit consoles was: »Super Nintendo or Mega Drive?«. The choice was quickly made in favor of the Nintendo console since the graphic possibilities offered more freedom compared to the competition from Sega – apart from the processor. This factor is irrelevant though in case of today’s platforms. Apart from a few exceptions, the team strictly sticks to the requirements of the time back then, like the number of animation frames, the maximum number of color ranges or the customary sprite sizes. So, there are legitimate reasons why the boss enemies in FOX n FORESTs were deliberately animated less smoothly than, e.g., standard opponents. A similar decision was made with regard to the sound: Unlike the Mega Drive sound chip, which was set up like an autonomous synthesizer, Nintendo used soundbanks for the Super Nintendo, which could be fed with imported sounds. Plus, the number of the simultaneously useable soundbanks was limited. Since the team experienced the 16-bit era to a large part also from a professional point of view, it’s actually possible to achieve this level of authenticity.
The targeted change of the four seasons is not only a neat effect, but the core mechanic of the platformer.
For this reason, we also made sure to include a lot of references and easter eggs. One of these elements is the level »Foggy Fable«, which pays homage to the »Ghosts ‘n Goblins« series. Hence, it’s no question why the first chest was placed on the left at the start of the level!
Technology
Apart from the adjustments to today’s standards like the 16:9 widescreen format and a comfortable save game system, technology and programming mainly focused on sustainability and flexibility. This approach was enabled by building the so-called »pixel pipeline«.
The pixel pipeline
For us at Bonus Level Entertainment, the pixel pipeline is more than just a tool chain. In fact, it includes the complete process and structures required to develop creative and diverse 16-bit games as efficiently as possible. FOX n FORESTS is not only a creative dream come true, but also a means to an end – a basis to establish and hone required workflows.
The engine
This decision was accompanied by the essential question about which engine to use. Bonus Level Entertainment works with Unity 5, not only because Unity is supported by all current platforms – be it PC, console or mobile. Apart from the comparably easy port to other systems, it was the long-term experience of the team, the large Unity community and a number of useful tools and plug-ins which led to this decision. For example, there are a large number of competent and especially affordable »engines« for Unity, which can already be used as a solid basis for the development of a platformer, shooter or RPG. You can then build on this basis, without having to develop or program every single essential mechanic from scratch. The tool chain, which was developed thanks to and with FOX n FORESTS, and the flexibility of the joint development between Bonus Level Entertainment, Independent Arts Software and talented freelancers provides the possibility to develop games in a 16-bit style not only efficiently but, above all, simultaneously, thus optimizing quality, time management and budget planning.
The pixel pipeline is therefore not only of a technical, but also of an organizational nature. Once the graphics for a game have been finalized, the respective team members can already start with the pre-production for the next project. The game and level design work similarly. Both are closely linked at Bonus Level Entertainment. Other areas like the sound are outsourced though and processed by freelancers to guarantee economic flexibility.
What comes after FOX n FORESTS?
In addition to a potential successor of FOX n FORESTS there are also plans for a shooter in the style of »Gradius«, »Axelay« or »Super Aleste«. An action-adventure similar to »The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past« is also possible. Thanks to the pixel pipeline, all of these elements were already considered during the production of FOX n FORESTS, which is also clearly visible: FOX n FORESTS contains two shooter levels, which not only exist to add some variety to the gameplay, but also to provide for useful empirical values for future ideas. The RPG elements of the game have similar functions.
From the start, the entire development environment was set up to be able to consider various genres, so the motto of Bonus Level Entertainment – »Reinventing 16 Bit« – could be put into practice as efficiently as possible.

Moving to Los Angeles (The Ultimate Guide)
The city of angels – the city of dreams – the city of entertainment. Los Angeles has made many names for itself and it is not a surprise why so many people want to move here. People from all over the world flock to this great city to follow dreams of stardom or just enjoy everything that the city has to offer.
However, LA is not like other cities. It is a beast of its own. And if you dive in head first without knowing what it’s all about, you might be in for a major culture shock. But have no fear because we made a specialized list for this exact occasion. If you’re about to take the next step in your life and your career by moving to LA, here is the ultimate guide to moving to Los Angeles to help you out.
Weather
When you hear people talk about how amazing the weather is there, they’re not kidding. It’s nearly perfect. The weather alone is a huge reason why many have migrated to this sunshine filled paradise. It rarely rains and if it does it’s only in the winter months.  The days are hot and sunny without being too humid or overbearing, and the nights are cool and breezy. What more could you ask for?
However, if you don’t already know, LA does not have the freshest air. Los Angeles is the most densely populated urban area in the United States – and it shows. That means that there are thousands of people living in every square mile of the city, and thus produce a vast pollution outreach. So if you’re driving up to the city and see a big foggy cloud hovering over it from far away, be aware that those are not rain clouds.
Luckily, fixing the smog situation is a city wide endeavour. There is a huge push for pollution reducing actions, such as becoming more bike friendly. Those worried about health concerns simply have to keep their ears on the news for weather warnings to make the best plans for their day.
Commuting
We’ve all heard about the traffic struggle when it comes to any big city. And it is definitely no surprise since LA itself has nearly a population of 4 million residents. That being said, where you choose to live is a pretty big deal. If you will be moving to Los Angeles to attend school or a new job, try to keep your everyday destination in mind. In less large metropolitan areas, driving 10 miles might take anywhere from 15-20 minutes max. But living in LA, you would probably be able to get there quicker by speed walking than in a car. During rush hour, it is safe to add on an extra 45 minutes to whatever your GPS is calculating.
Of course, commuting doesn’t have to be a nightmare. There are tons of options to make your commute easier. Invest in a reliable car like a Toyota RAV4 or a Nissan Altima to make your ride one of comfort.  If you aren’t much for far travel, consider using Uber and Lyft services on a regular basis. And always be prepared – morning commutes are great times to catch up on your favorite podcasts catch the latest news on 89.3 KPCC, or, if you’re an actor/singer/entertainer, learning songs, lines, and getting your vocal warm-ups in. Take advantage of all that extra time!
Neighborhoods
Deciding what area of LA to move to is one of the most important decisions in the moving process. Consider where you’re planning on going to school or working to plan the best commuting route.. The neighborhoods vary in traffic, amount of tourists,, price, culture, and everything in between. Before you move, take the time to visit some of the neighborhoods to find the best fit for your and your family.
For example, Atwater Village is a great places to raise a family. Moving from an upscale fashion hub to a family centric community, Atwater Village is the perfect blend of adulthood and hip for young families.
For a more classic feel, consider Culver City. A traditional favorite, Culver City is close enough from downtown LA to boast galleries and exclusive dining. Yet the homes are comfortable, the streets are clean, and the friendliness and comfortable atmosphere is another great family spot.
Not living with a family? Consider the artistic life of North Hollywood, home to all the aspiring stars. with tons of local bars, theaters, and galleries, it’s not hard to find something to visit on a night out.  NoHo is home to those who are ready for the fame, but not pushing to get out of their artsy phase.
Culture
LA’s culture is as diverse as the people who inhabit it. There’s a general consensus about the love of exercising, eating right, and generally being healthy, and a positive attitude and open minds.
Just like deciding where to live, consider the unique neighborhoods as your best bet for finding the best cultures to fit your life. are you a creative? Consider the NoHo area or . ready to embrace food and life of other cultures? Consider spending time in Sawtelle Japantown or Chinatown. ready to know the truth about the big screen? Don’t go to touristy Hollywood, but Studio City instead – were the real magic happens.
Things to do
Some parts of LA are more family oriented while others are better suited for singles. The family friendly neighborhoods are usually pretty quiet when the sun goes down, but nightlife in LA is very much alive. The biggest tip anyone can give you if you are looking to go out, is that all bars and clubs close at a solid 2am. Expect all the lights to come on at 1:45am, and for everyone to be completely cleared out by 2.
There are tons of activities for families and anyone looking to have fun during the day.. There is always the beach, boardwalks, Hollywood Boulevard, wax museums, hiking, amazing coffee shops, TV studio tours, and basically anything your heart desires. And, of course, we can’t forget the magic of Disneyland is just a stone’s throw away.
The city of Angels typically takes years to get to know, so don’t feel overwhelmed when you first visit. There are tons of areas to grow to love, and take advantage of the closeness of so much diversity so nearby. Just remember, follow your dreams, and find the perfect place in LA to call your home.
