the medieval-style restaurant was really fun but they simply refused to serve us water. like I asked and she was all 'ach no, miss!! only iffen you be wanting to keel over!'l we do however have cider, wine, and beer' which is all very funny and historically accurate, sure, but also yet another way for the blasted europeans to deny me water...

#i love how flexible the shifts are and they're all really short it's like ideal for me but also. omfg. scary 😭#gritting my teeth. i need money to leave this shithole country and i need a job to get money it's fine. this is fine #it's literally so discouraging to know ppl in the west have minimum wages of like 15 euros meanwhile it's literally 3 eur here #like even if you work hard you're only earning a fraction of what you could be if you were doing the same shit out there😭#just like. the inherent agony of knowing im earning money that's gonna be way less valuable out there #but im not on minimum wage and it's flexible but shoulddd be around 5 - 15 euros an hour #it's the only reason i even applied at least this way i can tell myself im actually making a positive dent in my savings #idek how much i have saved rn coz i never spend on anything and I've been saving since i knew what money was #but forint is literally not worth the paper it's printed on anymore like man i remember when #a euro was worth 200 forint.... i literally have the same coins i did when i was 10 but they're worth less than half as much now. crazy #man I should've gone into economics or global politics for real i love this shit. whatever that's a whole different spiral #barking

#i'm exploring palais garnier and trying to figure out what the box beside the emperor's box is so this is helpful! (it's 2nd tier box 3)#the first map looks like the one from the 'le nouvel opera' book but the boxes are less detailed (and there's no book crease in the middle!)#and the second one is from 1925 (the year of the lon chaney poto movie) ;)#i'm guessing the hard to see box (which i call box of the blind even though idk if it's really that box) is 10 on the 5th tier #the 5th and 4th tiers don't have numbers on the doors for some reason! :o #it says '4 pl' and there are 4 chairs in the box (plus a slightly bigger chair and a sofa) so i wonder if that's what the 'pl' means #erik sits in first tier box 3 (the second big box on the far right)#the opera ghost resides in box 5 next door ;)#they're 1st lodges de cote (boxes on the sides) on the maps so 120 and 40 must be their prices! :o #good thing erik has a salary to pay for the opera ghost and walter plinge... ;)#edit: the 120 one is how many 1st tier boxes there are (so much counting!) so the prices remain a mystery... ;)#they're about 150 euros today so i can only imagine how many francs that it is in 1888! :o

I bought new jeans today and I got a whole bag of free yarn, plus I got a new vintage-y (but new) cardigan last week, so finally, FINALLY, my wardrobe is properly growing and I'm so happy about that

#I went from only having 3 pairs of (long) trousers and no skirts in spring #to having 5 pairs of trousers and a skirt #and also a couple of new shirts and stuff #I have actual choices now #and don't HAVE to do laundry every week just because I ran out of clothes again anymore #I'm still working on expanding #a lot of the stuff I made is for summer #I'm starting to work on autumn/winter #including the slipover I'm knitting #I'm also looking for a new biker jacket #because my old one is falling apart (it was a cheap fake leather one so I'm surprised it's lasted me 7 years to begin with)#(but all the ones I find now are pleather and cost like 90 euro #and tbh if I need to spend that amount of money anyway I'm gonna get real leather)#(anyway there's no point to this post other than that my wardrobe is in perpetual crisis #but it's in slightly less crisis than a couple of months ago #and now it's with a bunch of handmade clothes! stuff I made! which is also very exciting)
