Does Bi-Han really has no idea where his brothers are living now?
To me, the most funny thing about the origin of the MK1 Shirai Ryu clan is Kuai Liang and Tomas' assumption that Bi-Han has no idea where their new clan is stationed.
We know from intros, Scorpion and Smoke do not share its location even with their allies so that Lin Kuei can't find it.
Kenshi: Why keep the Shirai Ryu's location secret?
Smoke: So that the Lin Kuei can't find it.
But then we have Kuai Liang's ending:
"No sooner had Titan Shang Tsung had been defeated than Bi-Han and his loyalists hunted us down. Outnumbered, we fled to Japan. There we sought refuge from an old family friend. As children, we played together. But Harumi Shirai was a woman now, the head of her clan. Her strength, beauty, and intellect awed me. Also incensed by Bi-Han's betrayal, Harumi agreed to help me forge a new clan. One that would stand against him and defend Earthrealm. Her aid proved invaluable. And as time went on, we grew closer. To honor Harumi and pay respects to my new bride, I named the clan after her, calling it the Shirai Ryu. Now the battle against my brother begins in earnest. The Shirai Ryu won't rest until Bi-Han is defeated and the Lin Kuei's honor restored."
in which:
A) Kuai Liang and Tomas fled to Japan and sought refuge from Harumi Shirai who is called an "old family friend"
B) she and Kuai played together as a children
C) Harumi is the head of her own clan living in Japan so between Scorpion and Smoke and her, it is Harumi who own land, money and/or necessary goods for a clan to prospere AND to fund Kuai Liang's new clan
D) Kuai Liang named his clan, Shirai Ryu, in honor of Harumi.
With such a description, the chances that Bi-Han is not familiar with Harumi are pretty slim to none. He already knows Scorpion and Smoke are in Japan, as they were hunted down by Sub-Zero's loyalists. Kuai has no money so for him to start a new clan, he needs to ally himself with someone who can fund it and support the two former Lin Kuei - and Harumi Shirai is an obvious choice, as the old family friend.
But even if that was not the first Bi-Han's conclusion, the fact that Kuai Liang married Harumi Shirai AND named his clan the Shirai Ryu makes it clear where he is - around Harumi. Scorpion's clan may go into hiding but I doubt Harumi would abaddon her land and clan or force everyone under her rule/protection into hiding so Bi-Han doesn’t even need to search for his brothers, he needs find only Harumi, as Scorpion and Smoke will come to protect her against Lin Kuei.
Since these days it seems everyone, including Outworld and Netherrealm characters, know about Kuai Liang's marriage and Bi-Han is A) operating in Sun Do, the capital of Mileena's Empire and B) is know to collect secrets, it is no surprise he knows about brother's relationship with Harumi. As even intro dialogues outright says so
Scorpion: Stay away from Harumi.
Sub-Zero: In this war, family isn't off limits.
and look, putting aside the threat, Bi-Han already considers Harumi part of the family even if they are enemies.
So yeah, the whole "keep Shirai Ryu's location in secret" is so hilarious to me, because the Shirai name is total opposite of secret for Bi-Han, as he knows Harumi and where she is living, if Kuai Liang and Tomas knew where they should go while fleeing to Japan.
Good job, Kuai!
But you know what is even more hilarious? The fact that Kuai Liang has no real idea where is currently his older brother and goes asking allies and enemies alike for help or information. Like yes, he and Tomas know the Lin Kuei clan is operating somewhere in Sun Do, but Li Mei found them and confronted them about Shirai Ryu activity in her city, while they did not capture Bi-Han there. And sure, Sub-Zero may not stay in one place for too long, however his own ending
"I had broken the Lin Kuei free of Liu Kang's enslavement. We were now masters of our destiny and could take our place among Earthrealm's greatest nations. But taking and holding territory would require a vast army. I needed more fighters to make our presence felt. Then I recalled Shang Tsung's dragon warriors. An army of them would be unstoppable. But trafficking in such strong magic would surely draw Liu Kang's attention. Sektor advised me that we avoid detection by building our army using science, not sorcery. We've invested much time in this endeavor, and we are beginning to see results. Once again proving the depths of Sektor's genius. When we are done, all of Earthrealm will honor our desires and heed our demands. If not, they will face the Lin Kuei's wrath."
says Bi-Han wanted to take and hold territory for his clan and so Lin Kuei invested time and energy into building an army based on magic Dragon warriors. Though it is not specified, I think it is right to assume the building of the army happened on Lin Kuei territory,
as that was their best secured base of operation. Like sure, Liu Kang and Shirai Ryu knew where Lin Kuei home was based but as the clan was living in hiding for centuries, their land was probably well guarded and the headquarter was located in a naturally defensive place.
And I admit, the whole idea that Bi-Han knows perfectly well where his brothers are hiding while Kuai Liang and Tomas have no idea about Sub-Zero's whereabouts and can't find him because none of them thought - or dared - to check Lin Kuei home is way too more hilarious than it should be.
People may make fun of Bi-Han not being smart during story mode but damn, Kuai Liang for sure is no mastermind either.

I never noticed this before, but in Austerlitz when Logan runs at Kendall like he might hit him, Roman tries to reach out and stop him.
The only other time we see Roman actually try to fight back or intervene is when Kendall tries to grab Shiv in the finale.
#i feel totally normal about this#it's pretty innocuous at this point in the story but with the added context that Roman was the primary target for Logan's physical#abuse and the fact that he never once tries to fight back when someone's trying to hurt him (play fighting with shiv is obviously#different) it suddenly becomes a lot more significant#i slowed the clip down a bit so you could track the movement#like he just stands there with his hands by his sides while kendall digs his fingers in his face and does nothing to stop him until kendall#tries to grab shiv#and he obviously never tries to defend himself against logan and straight up pretends he never hit him but when he thinks his dad might#attack kendall he actually tries to stop him#it's tentative and he steps back after a moment but his instinct was still to try and intervene which he never does for a second#when someone tries to seriously hurt him#there's a lot here#also adds to the whole 'kendall becoming logan' thing#roman roy#austerlitz#logan roy#kendall roy

AU where Midoriya isn't able to convince Bakugou to work with him during the finals
1- Izuku tries. You can't say he doesn't try. But Bakugo would rather lose, and Izuku can't beat All Might right now. To win, he has to leave the exam.
2- he doesn't go directly for the door- All Might is expecting him to be reasonable and try. Instead he vanishes down a side alleyway, taking a post of the fence All Might threw at him.
All Might expects a sneak attack and stays prepared, covering his weak side, but by the time he realizes Izuku has snuck around and back, Izuku's too close to the exit and makes it just through in time.
3- Izuku passes the exam. He got through on time, he has to. It's just a matter of of Bakugo will or not. All Might, RG, and Aizawa discuss. Aizawa shrugs and says pass both, even if he prefers them to have worked together. All Might honestly doesn't feel good about Izuku running, it feels antithetical. RG frowns at both of them, and strongly disagrees. She's the one who watched the entire exam, and Izuku finally did what she told him he needed to do at the SF, and also tried to work with Bakugo, but he just refused to. All Might thinks about about the start of the year, how Izuku almost told him about OfA, and has to agree. The decide to pass Izuku, and fail Bakugo, and Aizawa prepared a set of noice cancelling headphones to deal with his reaction in class.
4- When the League attacks the camp, they know one of their targets is in the lounge, and warps in closer to there. Kouta is never near Muscular - until Izuku carries him there, as the students sent back to the lounge realize it's on fire. The remedial students inside all got out safely, but then had to fend off further attackers. It's utter chaos, with half the students focused on the lounge and slowly beating the villains back, and the other half slowly dropping to sleep in the woods after Ragdoll was taken.
In the aftermath, the villains forced to leave at Kurogiri's pickup, they don't take Bakugo. But they do take Tokoyami, snatched up by Compress in the woods.
5- some things do not change. Izuku is going to help the rescue team. This is not an exam. AfO will not leave Tokoyami alone if Izuku sneaks away. This is the villain Izuku has to face, and he will save his friend along the way. Some things do change. Aoyama, a dear friend taken, wavers more.
And Bakugo, pride twice burned because he failed his exam and he doesn't get why, because he and everyone else at the lounge heard that the League was after him mostly, a target, a victim, a failure - Bakugo goes to Izuku and says Izuku isn't running this time. He's going to help Bakugo beat the villains and get Tokoyami while Bakugo blows Tomura to smithereens. Which, Izuku was already going to go with the rescue team. But if Bakugo is going to start helping now, well, they'll take him for any extra fire power they can get.

Silas's ears flattened as he backed away from Yako, for the first time it seemed he was fearful of someone. Though you couldn't place why... But, Silas knew, he knew exactly why, it was that damn mask, the posture, the aura, the way their tail seemed to become a wisp. It was like looking at a ghost.
Once he realized why Yako scared him Silas couldn't do much but freeze in place and squeeze his eyes shut, hoping they would just leave. His fear response became painfully apparent as the moments passed. All he could muster up was a feeble anxious whimper, maybe that would magically make them spare him from the incoming verbal assault.
Then they spoke. It sounded just like her. In his terror it WAS her.
Seance's tone was mocking, something Silas was guilty of doing... or maybe he was just copying her the whole time.
Even so, she just quietly hummed in thought, looking over him as she ever so slightly inched closer and closer.
"Even after all these years, you're still chasing after her love? Desperately hoping one day she'll forgive you for all the pain you caused her?"
Though Seance's voice was soft, her words were not. "I told you, She doesn't love you and she never will. Why can't you get that through your head?" She paused, giving her words a moment to sink in before she spoke up again.
"Silas." She sounded upset. "What did I tell you about not looking at me while I'm talking to you?" He cringed at that but didn't reply.
When he didn't do what she said, she just gave a soft, "Tsk." Well, He always was a coward, of course he didn't have the guts to even look at her. She gently brushed a claw over his face before finally letting go with an annoyed sigh.
Despite Seance's words, Yako's voice was still loud and clear, mocking him along with her. Her voice seemed to compliment theirs perfectly.
Seance quickly broke into laughter at the thought of that herself.
"Isn't that right, Little fox?" Truth always hurt. Silas couldn't deny it, Yako was right. Seance was right, every word every insult was right. When tears finally began to well up and Seance's voice faded, Silas found the courage to speak.
His voice was soft and faint. A mere whisper compared to the onslaught of words from Yako. "Please..."
Silas's words obviously went unheard. His claws just dug further into his skin, blood beginning to trail down his arm, the moment it finally seemed like Yako was going to stop talking, Silas broke from his fearful trance.
In one quick sweeping motion, Silas threw out a Night Slash.
"JUST SHUT UP ALREADY." He shouted.
"You have NO right to TALK DOWN to me like I'm beneath you! I AM NOT BENEATH YOU." He sounded unsure.
"You don't know who the fuck I am, and I don't think you want to find out. So, Shut the fuck up or I'll make you! I have no fucking problem with killing you right here. Unless you want to be gutted I suggest you FUCK OFF."
Silas lowly growled, his teeth bared, a blatant attempt at aggression, though his behaviour portrayed more fear than anything. Yako obviously touched a nerve with his words.
He didn't care. Finally, after everything the tears began to flow, all he could do was sniff and wipe them away.
"...Fucking pathetic." He grumbled, his words seemed to be addressed to Yako but it quickly became clear it was for himself.

Sometimes I look at media critical stuff, and while I do agree with the majority of it, a lot of the time I see people go like: "Why did they do this thing?? That doesn't make any sense!" like you almost get it but aren't quite there yet. You just need a little bit better media analysis skills

man, it kind of bums me out how the majority of the time that kyle's jewishness is a focal point in fan content, it's for a negative reason. if kyle's contemplating the fact that he's jewish, it's because he's being bullied or harassed, because he's feeling insecure about his appearance or self worth, because he's feeling lonely and isolated, because he's having a crisis of faith, etc etc. these are all totally valid themes and character arcs to explore, of course! i think many jews like myself may be able to relate to these themes, thanks to living in a society where antisemitism and other shitty behaviour runs rampant. but i think we're really missing a golden opportunity to explore the complex and compelling positives of being jewish. where's his love for his community? where's his excitement for an upcoming holiday? where's the comfort he might take from prayers? where's his curiosity or knowledge about his family history? where's his passion for debating interpretations of the torah? these are also valid, relatable and in-character directions you could take things!
i know that this trend is probably heavily influenced by the presence of this pattern in the show itself, but it's still a bit sad. or maybe gentiles (non-jews) shy away from celebrating his jewishness because they don't feel confident in commenting on a religious experience that they've never had. to those people, I would ask, why is it you feel comfortable speculating on the hardships of being jewish, but not the joys?
that isn't to say that you're not allowed to write about the former if you're not jewish, of course! regardless of religious background, anyone can empathise with his struggles because, at the end of the day, we're all human, and it's our humanity that unites us. but i'd encourage you to push yourself out of your comfort zone, do a little research and have some fun celebrating and supporting his jewishness once and awhile :)

so in the want to figure out a way of life for escaped vyke should the cure prove too impossible to get ( it is 😭 ), i started to look for ways to help deal with the madness build up. it's going to always be there, it doesn't just go away be it through plucking out the eyes or the three fingers dying. from the clues that the game gives, the madness itself seems more physical in the way of what one may call a disease of sort. sometimes even just due to the fact that one's mind is not capable enough to continue caring for the body, but i'm digressing a little.
so i looked at the clarifying boluses for the biggest tell, as they are meant to get rid of the buildup of madness before it gets too much in the person's body / system:
Madness accumulates slowly, inflicting heavy damage and reducing FP once the threshold is reached. Take one of these in timely fashion to avoid such events.
the ingredients to make these are as follows: eye of yelough, crystal cave moss, and dewkissed herba, but the main one i want to touch on first is the eye of yelough due to the fact that it says more as to what kind of help it provides aside from the typical "medicinal" just by the item description alone:
Grown in lands afflicted by frenzy, it's used for its pain-relieving properties… Though it's also known to be a dangerous intoxicant.
when i say madness is more physical, i mean it in the sense that the body is in constant pain at all times. with taking the name "frenzied flame", from the looks of the people affected by madness and how their eye sockets hold a little glowing flame within them, along with the fact that the burn wounds never heal on your tarnished, i have reason to believe that in gaining the madness, there is a small source of flame inside of you that is constantly in a steady burn that brings with it a continuous amount of pain within the afflicted. also hyetta's words to you: ( which granted, she says this because you have become the lord of chaos, but it also tells of the other afflicted. you just take in the main source, being the vessel of the outer god, while the others afflicted have only an offshoot, if that makes sense )
Ahhh, the flame of chaos has nestled within you.
with the crystal cave moss and dewkissed herba, my guess is that it's included because of possible infection as they are both ingredients for preserving ( scarlet rot ) and rejuvenating ( death blight ) boluses. but i think it does something extra for the clarifying boluses because once madness effects you, your focus is punished as well as your health. focus is necessary for spells, to which the crystal cave moss is within crystal caves that are being mined by the academy. dewkissed herba is noted as being "soaked in arcane dew" and in the ingredients list for glowstones; thus sources of magic that push for a larger focus and in doing so, clearing a mind beset by madness.
ok but besides pain and infection, there is another: not eating. or in hyetta's words:
They rest their trembling hands upon me. Howling wordlessly, they gently stroke my eyes. Their frail fingers, emaciated... Yet still, they give me the grapes. But you...seem somehow...firmer.
there is no ability to undertake that demand. they waste away from the pain, the sickness, the inability to speak without screaming, a mind that can no longer focus enough for the afflicted to take care of the body. but there is a promise that the lord of chaos would take it from them, so that they may live happily again.
tl;dr life for vyke could be possible under the right circumstances should no cure come to him. it would just be impossible to do it alone, as he would have no mind to do anything let alone making the boluses, eating, or even treating the burns upon his body. he would simply act like the frenzied flame villagers: immovable in their pain until forced into violence.

Ah....well :'D
I said semi-cancelled cause I didn't personally see anyone write an actual post about it calling me out or something. No one sent me any hate messages, I've only seen this whole shitshow unfold beside me. One account quoted my tweet about seritoi saying something like "some of you follow" with some stupid gif attached, there were comments to it. I got blocked and unfollowed as expected. I got called "that one artist" in some other posts. I kept seeing people throwing online tantrums over this whole discourse that started out of nowhere.
To be honest it wasn't maybe that horrible, I just got massive trust issues as I never experienced anything that felt so pointed at me before and I've seen some of my moots kinda take one side in this whole thing. I went private for a week, tried not to open the app cause I was getting a weird shaky hands / heart racing response from my body any time I did.
I got over it though XD It took some time and I recall this week badly but I don't give a fuck anymore though I try to stay away from people who put "proship kys/explode/die" in their twitter bio cuz who knows what they might do next time.
#this is just my perspective so maybe there were more people who were more targeted or some other bs happening on both ends idk#twitter is really weird and I don't actually like it there idk why im staying#i came out to have a good time and i'm honestly feeling so attacked right now#answered#i did not engage in any discourse about this whole thing then cause I was too terrified of this happening in the first place
