sometimes I think about how robin hood is canonically a true persona of akechi's and that means that some part of the detective prince act was true. does akechi even know that himself??? or does he believe he can only ever be the black mask???? does he even realize some part of him truly wanted to bring justice and not just hate fueled revenge???
#☢️.txt#it drives me INSANE.#rewatched 2/2 last night and. i think its very interesting that when joker agrees to end maruki's false reality#despite his heartbreak over learning that akechi is probably dead that akechi drops the clipped tone he was using in 3rd sem#actually he has a clipped tone in general? even acting as the detective prince he always has a sort of strain#its REALLY good va on robbie's part to keep certain parts of his speaking patterns consistent while also doing a 180#i still cant get over how he somehow kept akechis insane 'i read philosophy books for fun' speaking pattern#while incorporating his deadpan humor and love of violence in 3rd sem. and making it all /fit/#but anyways that supports my opinion that SOME parts of the detective prince act were extremely real to his personality#sure his preferred thief outfit is the most cringe sentai villain cosplay you could ever imagine#but he does apparently just wear sweaters and leather gloves and nice scarves. by choice.#other supporting evidence is that he does genuinely enjoy jazz and has detailed thoughts on the music theory behind it#but i do think he'd deny it if someone directly pointed it out. hes so used to compartmentalizing everything#i did NOT mean to put a full meta in the tags i cannot stop

one of my greatest pet peeves in fiction, and it is truly stupid I know, is that no one seems to understand how genuinely hard it is to kill someone via stabbing. stab wounds have a mortality rate of like 5%. especially abdominal stabbing. tv shows and movies show dudes getting stabbed one time in the lower abdomen with a tiny knife and then they fall over. like what did he die of precisely. that man died of Small Knife

when u go to write a mentally ill person in ur story you are presented two options. the first option is to write your mental illness realistically as you actually experience it with all the ups and downs and people who are like you will resonate with it and feel seen. except every person who reads instagram infographics on mental health that uses the phrase narcicisst for anyone who does anything that crosses them and unironically call themself a dark empath will call you scary and tell you that youre demonizing mentally ill people

Imagine you're Dazai and you're 15.
You've just met this kid(also 15), who is loud and annoying and won't do a single thing you tell him to. Not only has he got a ridiculously strong ability but he has crazy control over it and he can handle himself in a fight. He's the leader of gang. The Port Mafia views him as a serious threat.
And you're forming your opinions as you're being made to team up with this brash annoying kid who keeps trampling on all your good plans with his own ideas. Clearly, he's used to doing what he wants when he wants and it grates on you.
The sooner this is over the better.
But then, it's not all bad. You don't really get to hang out with kids your age. Or kids in general, most of the people you know are adults (who also happen to be criminals). As annoying as he is, it's fun messing with each other. You go to an arcade together and make a silly bet.
He places his stakes, so you have to think of your own. Obviously, you come up with an ingenious idea. If he loses, this kid who does whatever he wants, he has to be your dog for life. It's the kind of dumb bet kids your age would make, right? You've heard that before.
You'll make him carry about some stuff with his ability and lord it over him for a while and it will be funny.
Only then his friends- members of his gang, The Sheep- walk in and he hides from them. Because of you. You are, after all, from a rival gang. You call them over just to mess with him.
And you watch the kid you got to know start to shrink. All his noise goes quiet. All his confidence dissipates. That annoyingly loud kid you've gotten used to, the one who won't do as you say, who argued back all the time, just stands there as his so-called friends chip away at him. You watch as they treat him like-
Like a dog.
