the fucking whiplash btw when twelve announces they're 2000 years old. ten lived for about six years. eleven lived for more than 1000 years?

thinking about the underwater date again and about how after 13th almost joke-ish "not a bad date am i?" yaz doesn't joke back or brush the answer off but honestly answers with her quiet "no".

she's so much more brave that i've thought about her before (not that i've ever thought that yaz is not brave; she is, she very much is but this moment...). imagine you're standing in front of a 2000+ years old alien creature that's "seen more, loved more, lost more". the creature that is so like... infinite, so much more than just a friend someone you'll put on a pedestal and still STILL after this "not a bad date am i :D" you don't hesitate you don't go silent but you're honest and you admit something (that you didn't even want to admit to yourself a couple of hours/days ago). it's not "did dan tell you to say that" or "no you certainly is a bad date, we could've drowned!!!" or "where's the ship tho?" no it's an HONEST answer.

it makes me respect chibnall's writing more with each rewatch bc yaz IS special but in ordinary/everyday things you wouldn't think as special before moments like this. bc like admitting your feelings is huge but normal but admitting them to the doctor?

i wonder about how/will this lead to something in potd? in a way of yaz being brave one last time.

ok no i lied, one more thoschei thought. the way, even as she dismantles his plan, even after everything he’s done, after how much it broke them. the way she still can’t help but mention how smart he is, i mean, come on, “what a mind”????? meanwhile. he’s doing all of this. because he believes she doesn’t see him as an equal anymore. because he believes she sees him as nothing. im. unwell.

it's crazy how much of a, like, non-threat ainley is in five's run. stealing concordes. preventing the magna carta. willingly trying to save the doctor in the five doctors! like it really feels like to me there could be some sort of approaching reconciliation or working together except for the fact that he's like, thoroughly fucked things beforehand by accidently destroying a third of the universe & accidently killing four & hurting people who, unfortunately for him, turn out to be the doctor's companions.

personally i am ignoring anything rtd said in the commentary. i choose not to believe that all the other doctors also bigenerated somehow and lived out their lives elsewhere. the only way that i am okay with the bigeneration stuff is if it was this one time thing that specifically helps the doctor heal and move on

your tags are SO true like it was one thing to bring tennant back pre-ncuti, since the whole point of that was quite transparently to increase viewership FOR ncuti, but to be like "actually tennant!doctor gets to go have his own life and ncuti is a totally different offshoot" is like ....... well.

because yeah. it actually makes me a bit furious because leaving a spare doctor hanging around and sending Ncuti off as a double is just handing the perfect excuse to every bigot who wants to claim that Ncuti isn't the real doctor, the real doctor is back on earth in Donna Noble's garden. Why do that? Why make it easy for fans who want to drop the show now and pretend it's always the old way, forever?

i can think of reasons for doing it this way—like i'm 95% certain this was just a convoluted way to give Donna her happy ending—but none of the possible reasons i can think of justify going about it like this. I love Ten, and Tennant, I could watch him go on adventures forever, but the point should be I DON'T GET TO because because here's A WHOLE NEW WONDERFUL DOCTOR to go on adventures with! The whole constant point in Who is that change and death DO happen, and one of the joys is grieving the old while embracing the new!

But this episode doing this weird little pivot where you can die but still live, where a separate form of you can rest* so you can go on adventures....idk what moral RTD was aiming for here but it feels like he just shot his own next era in the foot for no particular reason beyond "we love Ten" (and we do but. come on)

*(what does that even mean?? canonically we know the doctor is restless and always running into trouble so what was the point of that?? it's confirmed he's going to mars on fun little trips!! this is the same man and you gave him a tardis and apparently there's no sacrifice at all?? what is this!! why!!)

most notable thing about rtd’s take on eleven is that he tells the people around him to shut up a lot less

i'm getting to the game ask in a sec but i wanted to write a post to say i'm very proud of myself for putting so much efforts in getting better. i've been doing so well in june/july, i just feel good about myself and much healthier on all sides, physically, mentally, humanly. still a long way to go but i think i'm on the right path :)

Ncuti hasn't been pushed aside for the 60th. it was always intended to be a placeholder, something to fill in the gap between the previous team leaving and the new one taking over. The problem was the BBC couldn't find someone else to take over so they offered the job to RTD after he'd already started work on the 60th. He wasn't planning to come back full time or cast the next Doctor. He was going to leave that to someone else after the 60th was done.

Even if RTD hadn't agreed to come back full time, this is still what would've happened, three Tennant and Tate specials followed by a new season with a new full time Doctor. The plans for the 60th were already firmly in place when Ncuti was cast and they didn't scrap them because that would've made a mess of things, been unfair to Tate and Tennant since they got the whole thing start off by reconnecting with RTD during lockdown, and pushed back filming since Ncuti was already committed to Barbie and Sex Education. He might've been able to get the 60th filmed on time but s14 would've likely be pushed back until late 2024.

Instead we're getting Nucti and Millie's first episode only a few weeks after the 60th and then S14 likely in the spring, and I have no doubt there'll be a media blitz for both.

i know it would make for bad television but i still kinda always think that it makes more sense that if it’s a fixed point then time itself wont let you change it. not that you change it and mess up the universe. but rather that you try and you just get redirected. like you dont risk breaking gravity by sky diving. if you mess up you get smashed. i think the only thing you’d risk by trying to change a fixed point is getting smashed to pieces by the sheer force of time. it’s hubris to think you could affect any of that. it’d be like moving a mountain. youre not gonna do it

thinking about 14 though and how he seems to be the essence ( and face ) of 10 but a softer and more emotionally open version, dropping the l word at least twice whereas in his original run he famously wouldn't say the word at all, and how that was applied to donna ( & wilf, never ever forget wilf ) in this first episode, and how it would be so good if this same kind of treatment was applied to martha during 14's three episode run too. i always suspected that rtd would "fix" the tragedy of donna's ending in these reunion episodes and he has talked before about wishing that he'd written martha differently in her series of the show, and with 14 not yet knowing why this face has come back..... if rtd is committing to this theme of self-reflection for 14, martha would be the perfect character to bring back. she is also the only other main companion of 10's ( i.e. series-long companion ) to not yet get a shout out/reference and i want to believe that this is deliberate and that there is still time yet ( two entire episodes ) for it to happen

something something if you read the script but ignore all the descriptions (like the daleks killing yaz and dan and in the start of the next scene the doctor kneeling over sarah's body) the dialogs that go one after another look like this and i surely HOPE 13 will fix whatever's broken

Im not really sure about it tbh! The option i'm leaning the most into is that he has Shiro's memories up to a few months/weeks before the mission. It just makes everything so much worse for him beacuse he doesnt even know about Shiro and Adam' Whole Thing.

For him it looks like one moment he was preparing for the biggest mission of his life and the next thing he knows, he wakes up surrounded by dozens of fucking corpses who look like him why do they all look like him

also i like to headcanon that the reason for why there were so many of the clones there is bc those are the failed attempts - discarded bc of mistakes in the cloning process or failed memory transfers or something(most of em were propably braindead or unable to survive)(dont ask me how the guys even survived falling from however high that place was. that's not importrant)

Tashi knows something's wrong from the beginning - some of his memories are disjointed or missing, there are names and places he should remember but he doesnt, and they all feel distant - but he pushes all his doubts and suspicions deep down beacuse there are people who need him here.

pretty much the same goes for taks and taka too! all three of them came to a mutual understanding that its best to just try and not to mention the fact they have the exact same name and life stories. theres more importrant things to think about like, y'know, not dying!!
