Irida "We have, but it was brief. You had a symposium to prepare for, I recall? I'm Irida."

Julian "Julian. Cloud has praised your work."

Alison "Anyway, the scales on Irida's skin started spreading about a month ago. Curious that it happened after she moved here, isn't it?"

Julian "Was the amount of scales stable before?"

Irida "The last time I've got new scales was when I was still a youth, sir, so I'd say. According to my family's knowledge, all mersims are born without them. Unfortunately so! Growing scales is, hmm... itchy."

Julian "Understandable."

Irida "My face seems to remain scale-free but otherwise, there are more or less of them all over my body. Before, I only had them on my thighs. Do you think the spreading could be related to the magic in this area?"

Julian "It's not a bad hypothesis, but challenging to verify. Mersims are the least encountered supernaturals. This area is restricted, and it only occurred after you had stayed here for a longer period."

Irida "A practical approach! I admire it. What about theory...?"

Julian "Perhaps. Do you know any mersims with widespread scales? Or mentions of such?"

Irida "I've never met one with this many... but mentions, yes. When the scales started appearing, I contacted my mother – she's a humanist, you see. There ain't many literature sources about our kind, but she knew old songs of mersims covered in scales. From head to toe!"

Julian "Are these songs passed down in the family?"

Irida "Some... but my mother has collected them from other mersims as well, during our travels. But you must understand; those who live in the deep wish to stay undiscovered."

Julian "It doesn't make my work easier that they choose to hide. While magic itself isn't irregular, the phenomena caused by it are. As we can't observe magic directly, the research relies on the phenomena – supernaturals included."

Irida "Hmm. Witches refuse to help, I assume?"

Julian "Yes. If they didn't, maybe we would even understand how supernatural pregnancies work. Our current theories are lacking-"

ALL OF MY KIDS BY REGION (UPDATE 2)

This didn’t stay consistent T-T Here is another update for some kids whose like names and parents I updated. Not as many ships changes this time I promise!

I put a + in front of the fankids that have one or both parents that are game only characters. My fankid universe is more anime centric but mingled with gameverse stuff. I left the + next to Hop and Victor even tho they were just in evolutions and are the whole reason I made most of these Galar ship changes, but it’s not the main anime so that doesn’t count.

I put a * next to kids whose names I recently changed, there is a ** next to kids that are new to this particular version of the list. The kids who changed ships but not names have ^ in front of them. ? aspect of the characters up in the air.

Calaba’s descendants stay in Sinnoh, and lead to Paul and Reggie. I am kinda subscribed to Brandon being their dad tho but he only goes to Hoenn for work. She is also an old holy woman with no kids to speak of in the games so maybe her line continues with a sibling or something.

Melli somehow leads to Harley. I know this man would never marry a woman but Harley comes from his loins somehow they are too fucking similar-

Akari is the ancestor to Lucas who eventually get’s thrown back in time. Thankfully they immediately pick up on the family vibes and just treat each other like brother and sister. Maybe she get’s with Wanda’s brother, Zeke, so that’s why Dawn and Lucas end up having similar appearances.

Cyllene x Prof. Laventon. Okay so this would make Cyrus, Leon and Hop related somehow but to add some degree to separation to that let’s just say Cyrus’s part of the family comes from a sibling of Cyllene. Also since Cyllene is someone who seems to care for others unlike Cyrus I want her to have the fun descendants. But Cyrus got the no eyebrows and bad at feelings part of that bloodline.

Iscan x Palina’s descendants lead to Marlon. It still works weather you acknowledge the weird tan or just pretend he’s that shade all the time.

Tuli is the ancestor of Bianca, this was something I thought the moment I saw her in game but I am going to take something else from this video on ancestor speculation and say that she is also Ginter’s wife which would make Bianca and Volkner like cousins or something. (that video I linked is very good and it’s also where I got the Marlon idea from so go watch it 😊)

Irida "I do! It's very curious. They started spreading, out of the blue. Ally and I thought it might be the magic here that's to blame. Mr. Fare – do you know him?"

Sara "Julian? Duh, yeah. He's a friend of my parents."

Irida "It's an honor to work with a scientist like him. He didn't keep the theory impossible... but it might be that we'll never know for sure. Things related to magic are mysterious, no?"

Sara "Oh, yeah, totally!! Like, my best friend has these weird flashes or something. He can cheat in sports and such. And they apparently happen because he's a half-werewolf? Weird shit."

Irida "Hmm... I wonder if he could help Mr. Fare's research."

Sara "Eh, otherwise Felix's just normal, so I doubt. I mean, not that you aren't normal. Even with the scales. I mean, the scales are normal too, for you... damn. I'm so, so sorry-"

Irida *chuckles* "No worries. I'd say it's not normal if you suddenly start growing scales, too. For me? Still fewer scales than my magically appearing tail has."
