SO MORE STONE KAI
Ichiro had been traveling across the land for weeks when he first spotted the house. It stood alone atop the hill, surrounded by rice fields and a single path that he assumed led to more houses.
And he kinda just. Watches the house from afar for a while. He doesn’t really know if he should talk to them or not since most of the time he does people either run away, scream, try throwing things at him, or all three
But then one night while he was watching the house, he noticed a group sneaking in. It didn’t seem right to him. The three human residents were already inside and he’d never seen other humans enter when the lights were off.
He decides to go investigate
It was actually a good call on his part. When he tries to sneak in, the group has the three cornered in one of the rooms, the biggest one trying to fend them off with a sword and fire and the smallest one has water leaking from her eyes.
He quickly takes care of them
He doesn’t kill them, but he does break some bones and sends them running for the hills. Who would’ve guessed getting punched by a being of indestructible stone would do that to a person.
Ray thanks him and Ichiro has no clue what to do, because this human isn’t afraid of him???? Even though he just saw him severely injure other humans????
Ichiro just kinda leaves, but still watches the shop. Only this time the Smith’s know he’s there. Maya even invites him inside a few times and they get to know each other.
Like how he has no idea who he is.
And doesn’t really have a place to stay
Yeah, they adopt him pretty quickly into the family. Nya’s actually the one to gave him his name, since “Mom and dad said that if I ever get a brother, they were gonna name him Kai, and you’re like a big brother :DDDD” Nya also likes to paint and decorate his stone skin, and he always gets so sad when it chips or needs to get washed off, so Maya began to take pictures so he can remember them.
After a while, Ray actually gets back in touch with Wu so he can get Kai a sort of glamour to make him look more human, and it eventually arrives in the form of a simple platinum ring.
Kai cries a bit when he finds out he can go into town like a normal person. Ray and Maya had to keep a close eye on him because he kept almost wandering off. Ray also teaches Kai how to forge and he’s a pretty quick learner, which just makes both of them happier and closer together. He eventually passes his power onto Kai, but doesn’t have time to tell him before Krux kidnaps him and Maya.
And Kai…. Kai always got weird feelings from Dr.Saunders. He didn’t like him, but never brought these concerns to Ray and Maya, but he always made sure Nya wasn’t anywhere close when he visited. And once the parents disappear, Kai swore he would do his best to raise Nya just as well as they raised him, after all it’s the least he could do repay their kindness.
Kai also becomes very thankful he doesn’t need to sleep and spends many nights in the forge finishing orders and such. But he does try to not overwork himself, after all Nya worries.
After their disappearance, Kai stopped taking off the glamor ring, even when he “slept,” pretty much to the point that Nya kinda forgets about his real Stone body. She’s aware that Kai isn’t human, but she just doesn’t remember quite what he looked like without the ring and doesn’t want to ask since it seems rude and he looked just so. Happy being seen as a human. Even years later he practically glowed when people called him “young man” or “kid.”
Fast forward a few years to when the Skulkin show up. Kai is a little upset that Wu wasted time saving him since he would’ve been fine, but knows that A Normal Human Teen would’ve probably died so he brushes it off.
Speaking of Wu, he just. Stares at Kai for a few seconds, for two reasons
1) he doesn’t remember Ray and Maya mentioning they had another kid, but spots the glamour ring and assumes adoption, probably of the magic variety
And 2) he could swear he’s seen Kai before. He doesn’t know what it is, but he’s so familiar. He chalks the second thing up to the glamour because part of the way it works was making who it’s hiding unrecognizable to those who knew them. there’s also the fact it’s been well over 1000 years since he last saw Ichiro, so there’s that too
During the Get Golden Weapons, the dragons get very weird vibes from Kai. Like, he absolutely reeks of Creation, but also quite a lot of Destruction, plus something they can’t identify(magic from The Overlord). They don’t really know how to feel about him, but he’s pretty nice and the other humans trust him, so they mostly ignore it.
The situation with Nindroid Zane goes a little different with Kai being more respectful of Zane’s “weirdness,” mostly because he recognizes the behavior to be similar to his own when he washed up on Ninjago and first started living with the Smiths. He’s also super supportive after the truth is revealed, for obvious reasons, but is also more relaxed around the others and even starts planning to maybe possibly reveal to them the truth someday.
The volcano scene is where things start going a little more different.
Such as how parts of Kai’s gi start burning away from the lava, but he doesn’t seemed bothered by the heat. In fact, Lloyd would swear he saw his foot slip into the lava for a few moments, but he just chalked it up to the heat messing with his vision.
S2 has even more of these subtle differences.
1st off, Kai has a much easier time with the birthday kids since he can’t feel pain, but doesn’t quite tells the others what happening during the parties since that’ll make them suspicious and worry. He also tries to eat as scarcely as possible in order to save money since he also doesn’t need to eat.
The Time Rewind with the Grundle does Literally Nothing™ since Kai is a few million years old, 7 years ain’t gonna do shit.
But then we enter the last few episodes :D
When they go to the museum and see the Giant Stone Warrior, Kai is getting weird and bad feelings from it, like he’s torn between running away, trying to reason with it, and turning it to rubble. But at the same time, it’s also familiar, reminding him of some of the swords he kept that Ray made.
And then when I takes up, the Warrior is like “wait, that’s Master’s son what’s he doing here by himself” and is just trying to grab him to take back home, which the ninja just interpret it as the warrior wanting to kill him. After all, the Stone Warriors were enchanted to prioritize Ichiro/Kai’s safety above all else.
This starts him fearing his true form, especially after what Misako and Wu tell them about the Stone Warriors. He was created to bad, for evil, yet for some reason he is different from them and he’s terrified he’ll turn on his family.
Nya also has a vague feeling of familiarity seeing the Warrior, but doesn’t know exactly what it is.
And then of course. Things get worse :)
When Garmadon takes the helmet to control the Warriors and starts the Countdown Clock, Kai gets a weird chill. He doesn’t know what just happened, but he knows it was Very Very Bad. Then later when they land on the island, Kai immediately feels off.
The place is so familiar, like he’s been here before. Yet it’s also so forign in a “I swear that rock wasn't there last time” way.
Upon their landing, The Overlord also noticed a strange presence on the island, an old and familiar one, but he can’t place it, nor track it.
Anyway, the ninja go to infiltrate the Dark Camp, and all the Warriors get thrown off by Kai’s presence so they get chased out, but he’s able to accidentally remember the location of the temple but plays it off by saying he found a map.
But the main change happens on the beach, just as Garmadon and the Overlord are about to leave for Ninjago.
It goes mostly the same at first. Garmadon succeeds and hits Ninjago with the Dark Matter, The Overlord betrays him, Lloyd tries to fight them and looses, BUT this time The Overlord decides it would be best to finish Lloyd off.
But then Kai takes the shot for him.
For a second everyone thinks Kai’s about to die
But it only destroys his clothes and the glamor.
The Overlord is in shock
His son…..his son was alive
He was alive and standing before him, looking exactly the same as when he was taken away. The same charcoal skin, the same acid green eyes, the same red, carved clothing that was enchanted to behave like regular cloth.
And he was overjoyed.
His son was here and alive and okay.
Meanwhile Kai is freaking out because what the hell why is the Overlord calling him “Ichiro”
Kai finally snaps when the Overlord starts saying he’s his father, at which Kai yells at him that NO YOU’RE NOT, RAY SMITH IS!!!
This then get the Overlord angry.
He ends up correctly figuring out that the reason Kai doesn’t remember is because the barrier took out the Overlord’s magic, so he just. Dumps Dark Matter on him.
And Kai has a Very Bad Time.
In the span of seconds, millions of years of memories are being returned to him. His head hurts, it hurts so much, there’s too much, too many, stop it, please make it stop.
And then The Overlord just kinda. Picks up Kai like a kid and leaves through the portal along with the rest of the Stone Army.
Everyone is left freaking out
Kai’s a Stone Warrior?!? And his name is Ichiro?!? He’s The Overlord’s son??! What?!
Wu meanwhile is sitting in shock, mostly at the fact that Ichiro was alive. After all, the FSM told him and Garmadon that Ichiro had died in order to avoid their anger at him accidentally banishing him.
When the others start questioning Kai’s loyalty and motives when he steps in though and explains the story of Ichiro and his creation and the real reason for the war. They’re all left reeling, feel horrible for doubting Kai, and getting ready to murder both The Overlord and the FSM, because let’s be real, both messed up pretty bad.
When Lloyd finally gets to the top of the tower, he finds not only the Overlord, but also Kai. He’s incredibly out of it, still in a lot of pain, but he’s here. And his presence is enough to give Lloyd confidence, because he’t not alone his older brother is here with him.
So at the end of the fight, which now included some encouragement from Kai, on top of Garmadon being healed, Kai gets his memories back :DDDD
He also gets a lot of trauma too but that’s not important
In the space between S2 and 3 Kai opens up about his past, reconnects with Wu and Garmadon, and they try to get him to get therapy but he refuses/avoids going so they mostly just talk to him one on one.
Bit of course……season 3 is it’s own fun time :)

Tumblr media
“We’re starting in one minute”
“Now, let’s hear a few words of well-appreciated encouragement from Iori Utahime-sensei,” Gojo suddenly declared, leading the mentioned teacher to look at her colleague in complete shock before quickly beginning to sprout out whatever came into her head.
“U-Uh...Um, some degree of injury will be unavoidable, but, um..now and then, help each other out..or something…” Utahime stuttered out causing you and everyone else from the Tyoko team to look up at the speakers in both confusion as well as fed-up expressions since all of you knew that it was one of Gojo’s teasing antics again.
“Times up,” Gojo quickly stated in a playful tone leading you to look off to the side as you began to look around the area since you were wondering how the principals, teachers and possibly other jujutsu sorcerers were observing you since there were no cameras located to which caused you to suddenly come in eye contact with a pair of piercing pure onyx eyes that were staring down at the group you were with now making you come to the conclusion that someone was using a technique that allowed them to share sights with crows or have their sense being shared with them...either way, it was like having someone watching you 24/7.
‘Creepy...it’s like they’re sensing my death’
“Hey! Gojo, you little…” Utahime yelled out, irritated that she was interrupted out of her little encouragement speech - well, it wasn’t like she had a lot to say to you all anyways.
“Now, let the sister school exchange event...begin!” Gojo enthusiastically yelled out like it was a sports match, encouraging everyone in your team to start running forward in order to gain a head start on whatever the plan was.
“Respect your seniors!” the Kyoto teacher exclaimed loudly through the speakers after since it seemed like she wanted to remind your adoptive father that she was older than him, which can to a surprise for you since she looked much younger than you thought she was - well...you could say Gojo was a bit of the worst end when you found out his age, he seemed completely younger than he had mentioned to you when he took you out to a dessert place after a mission he set for you.
“Ichiro?!” Itadori questioned as he turned back to look at the speakers as if he was going to get the answer he wanted while Fushiguro looked at him with a non-chantant look on his face.
“So stupid,” Kugisaki commented as she gave off a disappointed look as she continued to run.
“Where do you think the cursed spirit boss is?” Itadori asked both Panda and Maki as he came toe to toe with them as he ran since he was truly determined to win this event as soon as possible.
“It was probably unleashed halfway between both schools, but it’s not just going to sit still, we just need Gojo to get there first to exorcise it since she isn’t allowed to fight anyone,” Panda answered, as you managed to catch up to your first-year classmate leading him to question how fast you could actually run since you didn’t show any athletic signs back when you and him were students at Sugisawa Municipal Highschool.
“At the time we agreed upon, we’ll split up into the Megumi squad and the Panda squad for scouting, we’ll be counting on you after that, Yuji,” Maki stated while turning her head slightly to look at the younger student leading Itadori to give her an encouraging salute and smile informing her that he knew what he had to do.
As you all continued to run, the black demon dog was running in front of all of you while barking to indicate where he was going leading you to quicken your speed to make sure you didn’t lose track of it since you now had the role to exorcise any curses that were around with the help of Maki, no matter what grade they were.
“Where are you going?” a spider curse questioned as it began to hang down by a string of its web, trying to seem intimidating when in reality it really wasn’t.
“That's a small fry,” Panda commented, leading you to unhook your katana that was behind your back from its position as you prepared to exorcise the thing by sliding it with the wooden stealth one since it was an extremely weak curse anyway. However, before you could even push yourself forward to cover the remaining distance that was between you and the disgusting spider curse, the demon dog that was in front of you turned it’s head to the side as if it had sensed something else from a distance.
“Gojo, stop!” Fushiguro shouted at you causing you to turn back to him before pressing your front foot to the ground to help slow down and halt your movement causing the demon dog to stand proactively in front of you as a sudden eruption of broken tree trunks as well as a huge cloud of debris covering the remaining path that everyone was running in leading them to pause around you.
Rapidly, as fast as the destruction came was as fast as the instructor appeared from the mist as Todo struck everyone was a confident grin since he was joyful that he had found everyone from the Tokyo team right in front of him - it was as if he had struck gold.
“Great! You’re all here! Come at me altogether! I want a re-match, Gojo!” Todo declared ambitiously as he pointed at you, leading everyone to go into a fighting stance since they didn’t want the possibility of losing you even when you knew that they knew that you could defend yourself, just not attack your opponent back at all.
As expected, Itadori took the first step as he ran towards the large student before suddenly jumping up to reach and grab onto Todo’s face as he proceeded to slam it against his knee, causing you to slightly cringe since you didn’t want to know how much pain his nose might be going thought at the very moment in time.
“Gojo! Don’t worry, I got Todo in check!” Itadori informed you, leading you to smile and nod at him as a way to thank him, causing Maki to shout out the command that everyone needed to do right now.
“Scatter!” Maki yelled out causing everyone to run off in two different directions with Kugisaki, Panda and Inumaki going to the left side of the forest, while you, Fushiguro and Maki took the right side, as you all needed to go in different directions to cover up a large amount of area you all had to cover in order to find the grade two cursed that was released for the players to exorcise to win the event for today.
“Todo was alone, it seemed like he really wanted to fight Gojo though,” Fushiguro commented as he turned back to look at you and Maki, while still running since there was a possibility that the grade-one sorcerer would come looking for you.
“We were right to swap Gojo with Yuji into that role,” Maki stated as she turned to you with a confident smile on her face leading you to give her one back before shifting your eyes to the dark blue metal pole that was dangling on the side of your hip, where you held it in place with a black belt that Kugisaki had gifted you one day during one of your random shopping trips.
‘I’ll thank her again later when all of this is done’
                                          ꕥ
BEFORE THE EXCHANGE EVENT STARTED:
“Todo will absolutely be out to crush us straight away, Mai might follow behind him to come after me, too,” Maki mentioned to everyone, as she held her chin in a thinking posture as you sat next to her with your arms placed behind you to help support your upper body.
“Todo’s a monster, the worst possible outcome would be that we all face him and get wiped out,” Maki explained before turning to look at you before letting out a sigh of disappointment since she needed to change the current plan due to the fact there was a few new little rules being placed upon you to make the game fair. “So our plan was to leave just one person, that’s why we wanted Gojo to take him on since she is the most capable of keeping him at bay or more like knock him out to give us some time but rules are rules. Itadori, we’ll leave that role to you,” your senior classmate declared as she took in yours and Fushiguro’s suggestion from before leading to the mentioned sorcerer to point at himself with a little uncertainty.
“We’d rather not lose anyone who can scout out our enemies, you don’t have to beat him, just hold out as long as possible and buy is time,” Maki said with a smile as she lifted a thumbs-up to somewhat cheer up your classmate since she wasn’t completely sure on how well this plan would work, but she had a gut feeling that it was going to go well due to yours and Fushiguro’s previous statements.
“But you can be daring against him! To be blunt, we weren’t counting on your abilities anyway, so it won’t affect us too much if you have to quit,” Panda teasingly commented while giving him another thumbs-up, leading Itadori to inform his upperclassmen on how ‘mean’ his comment was in a whining tone.
“Sorry, Y/N. You wanted to face Todo, didn’t you?” Panda asked as he leaned his body forward to get a quick look at you.
“I’m good either way, it’s such a complete drag to fight him again anyways,” you answered before leaning your head back to face the ceiling as it seemed like a wave of unnecessary tension has been lifted from your shoulders - even though you knew you were more than capable of beating Todo, you weren’t too keen on fighting the close-ranged sorcerer since he was just plain annoying in your mind.
“But Senpai, if I’m gonna do this, then I’m gonna win,” Itadori declared with determination laced in not only his tone but his posture as well, leading you to look back down at him before gifting him an assured smile that quickly displayed itself of your face as you then gave him the final thumbs-up of approval that he needed.
‘Yeah, he’s got this’
                                              ꕥ
While you, Fushiguro and Maki continued to run in whatever direction you three were going in, you were more focused on locating the second-grade curse you needed to exorcise to get this event done and over with since today you weren’t really in the mood to get into many first - you didn’t even have a single drop of orange juice today, and that already made you irritated.
However, as you continued sensing for the cursed spirited that you required to know the location of, your mind couldn’t help but get distracted by the amount of cursed energy that was looming around the area Itadori and Todo were located before at least four people from the ground and one person from above started to unexpectedly move away from leading you to become perplexed but slowly beginning to understand what was happening as you looked up to the sky to find a familiar blonde-haired sorcerer as she rode a broom across the sky.
“Fushiguro, use Nue right now,” you commanded, leading your classmate to look at you before looking up at the direction you were staring at to finally understand what you meant, which caused him to quickly summon the owl-like shikigami right in front of you.
“Take her down,” Fushiguro demanded his shikigami leading to the bird to unexpectedly appear behind the flying sorcerer with purple electricity enveloping his wings before flapping them down to transfer the high voltage lighting bolts to the third-year student leading to her falling from the sky into the maltitude of trees below to break her falling or possibly help her land somewhere that was not the ground to have a lighter impact than it should really.
“That’s strange,” Fushiguro suddenly commented, as you and Maki halted on your sprint since you all knew you couldn’t discuss the matter in hand while running to god knows where you three were planning to head to.
“All the Kyoto students are moving together, they’re all going to the same location,” you mentioned as you continued to survey where they were heading off to with your sense still enhanced.
“You mean that’s where the target is?” Maki asked you since she didn’t have the ability to see cursed energy at all, unlike you and Fushiguro, while the divine dog decided to nudge his snout against the back of your hand leading you to rub its head causing it to emit a rubble/purr as it begins to lavish on the affection it was receiving from you.
‘Not really the best time, but why not…’
“No, unless the second-grade is especially cunning, my demon dog would have noticed it,” Fushiguro said in a stern tone causing the dog to bark once in response before returning back to the attention you were giving it. “They’re trying to kill Itadori, aren’t they?” Fushiguro rhetorically questioned, leading a sigh to come out of your mouth before you turned your head towards the predicted location where you could sense the Kyoto’s students' cursed energies.
“It’s possible,” Maki replied as her gaze moved downwards, trying to understand why they would attempt an assassination during the Kyoto Sister School Exchange Event, especially since the act of killing was prohibited as one of the main rules.
“I don’t sense that much hostility from them, but due to Itadori’s surprise survival, it is possible that Principal Gakuganji ordered then to that but to be honest, that was quite stupid of him since they don’t have the strength to even fully commit the assassination,” you quickly mentioned to your teammates leading them to look up at you with confusion on their faces.
‘I have to thank Gojo for this information later as well’
“Zenin Mai: grade three, Miwa Kasumi: grade three, Nishimiya Momo: semi-grade two, Muta Kokichi: semi-grade one, Kamo Noritoshi: semi-grade one and Todo Aoi: grade one,” you listed as you adding in their grades to make sure Fushiguro and Maki got an idea on what you were about to explain to them. “Out of all of them right now, Todo is the only one that has the capability to fight Sukuna, so Principal Gakuganji was willing to sacrifice his other students really quickly for the execution of Itadori since the rest of them wouldn’t survive,” you informed your schoolmates causing them to shudder at the fact on how informed you already were about the other students without them even ever mentioning about them to you.
“We’re turning back, guys,” Maki stated, causing you to turn to look at her before giving a nod to indicate to her that you understood what she wanted.
“Sorry,” Fushiguro unexpectedly apologised, while Maki just turned away and started to walk back in the opposite direction where everyone was running from.
“What are you apologising for, dummy? There’s no point in winning or losing the exchange event if your friend dies,” Maki said in a disappointed tone, leading to both you and Fushiguro to look at each other before starting to slowly follow her from behind leading you three to go back into the wooded area in search for the other Kyoto students, who were technically on the run now since they seemed to have failed to execute Itadori from what you could sense in the back of your mind.
‘Team Panda is probably doing the same right now since I can faintly sense Panda and Kugisaki going into the forest again, where is Inumaki though?’
                                            ꕥ
“They’re up ahead,” you informed both Fushiguro and Maki since you could feel a stronger presence of cursed energy that was in front of you, leading you to realise that there were at least two Kyoto students since the rest of them seemed to split off somewhere.
Maki turned back to you and gave you a nod before fastening her pace as she suddenly noticed a shine of blue hair coming into her view leading the weapons specialist to prepare her red spare before quickly appearing out from your guys hiding spot to attack Miwa, who quickly managed to notice your upperclassmen as she pulled out her katana from her sheath to deflect Maki’s surprise as well as incoming attacks.
“Gojo, go ahead and find the curse, I’ll take care of Kamo-san,” Fushiguro informed you to which you replied to him with a nod.
During that second, Fushiguro came out from the side and headed towards Kamo leading you to take the small time that you were given to go on ahead and search for the grade-two curse that you needed to exorcise, only to suddenly feel a presence coming from behind leading you to rapidly turn around while raising your katana at the same time, only to discover Kamo standing right in front of you with his bow making direct contact with your weapon, leading you to become confused on why the semi-grade one sorcerer would even try to sneak attack you from behind.
‘Huh?’
“You didn’t even unsheathe your weapon, that’s strange,” Kamo commented, leading you to give him a deadpan look since you didn’t want him to notice or sense your confusion right now.
“Didn’t your little principal inform you to not fight with me or are you just getting a little too confident? That attitude of yours is going to be a drag,” you stated back in a nonchalant tone.
“Kamo-san, are you guys planning to kill Itadori?” Fushiguro asked from behind causing the mentioned sorcerer to turn his head back to view the erratic-haired sorcerer, leading you to smirk before you switch your hand that was holding the katana as you swiftly pulled it back to thrust the tip of your katana into Kamo’s stomach causing him to widen his eyes in shock as an immense pain started to engulf him as his body was pushed back with vast pressure causing Fushiguro to move out of the way to avoid his body colliding with Kamo’s.
‘Don’t get distracted next time, you drag’
Holding onto his stomach, Kamo slowly looked up at you and Fushiguro before coughing out in pain since your attack was more than what he had expected.
“And if I said we were?” Kamo answered, causing you to look at him with massive suspicion in your eyes.
“You failed, then. Itadori wouldn’t go down in such a short time,” Fushiguro declared with a small praise for his friend as he raised his tonfa in a defensive pose while you just straightened yourself up since you had no worries about being attacked again.
“We have no reason to kill him,” Kamo stated with a smirk on his face causing you to turn your head to the side and scoff at him since it was hilarious that he was acting so confident after just barely managing to withstand a simple physical attack from you before you turned back to face him again.
‘What a drag~’
“Yes, you do. The higher-ups and the three major clans have plenty,” you mentioned before resting your katana over your shoulder to relax for a second since you could sense that this fight was either going to be easy or too easy for your liking.
‘It’s surprising that he is attempting to fight me though, I wonder if Gojo-sensei forgot to inform them about this little extra rule but I still need to find out about that mole...’
                                              ꕥ
“Ah~ I thought I told you to tell your students to not attempt to fight Y/N? they’re only going to get hospitalised in the process,” Gojo playfully asked, as he turned to look behind his seat to be eye to eye with the Kyoto Principal, who was in charge of informing his students about this new rule that he and Principal Yaga implemented.
“Well, she attacked Kamo, so she’s breaking the rule isn’t she?” Utahime asked as she took a sip from her cup leading Gojo to turn to look at her with a slight frown on his face.
“Well, your student did attack her first, she can’t help but retaliate since that was her normal strength right there. If it was any other student, they would have been eliminated real quick,” Gojo informed his colleague causing her eyes to widen before turning back to the screen to only discover your eyes were directly looking at her since you were directly looking at the crow that was inspecting you right now.
“She’s quite an interesting girl,” a sorcerer from behind commented as she proceeded to open her eyes. “Not only did she notice my crows looking at her since the start of the event, but she’s also quite strong, no wonder you took her in,” she mentioned as she faced forward to notice Gojo looking at her.
“She’s a tough cookie, isn’t she Mei-san?” Gojo said with a proud smile on his face before he processed to face the screens again with the smile now straightening.
‘I don’t know what he’s trying to do, but I know Y/N won’t fall for it naively, she’s more the type to manipulate his plan...besides, it’s as if she’s giving him a death glare right now’
This thought of his caused him to giggle lightly, creeping out Utahime as she stared at him in pure confusion.
‘I know she can do it’

Precious Points I liked from "The Courage to be Disliked" by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga:
Second Night - All Problems Are Interpersonal Relationship Problems
My Personal Chapter Summary:
The dictionary definition of 'interpersonal' is relating to relationships and communication between people. Because there exists this, you can't help listening to them or comparing. It can be said if one were alone in the universe and all others were gone, all manner of problems would disappear. Worries arise due to the presence of other people. Concepts such as inferiority or superiority exist because of human relations. Feelings like these arose because you compare yourself to others i.e. your interpersonal relationships. If only you exist in the universe, what is there to compare to?
Quotes I liked:
• There is one good thing about subjectivity: it allows you to make your own choice. Precisely because I am leaving it to subjectivity, the choice to view my height as either an advantage or disadvantage is left open to me.
• We cannot alter objective facts. But subjective interpretations can be altered as much as one likes. And we are inhabitants of a subjective world.
• Being alone isn't what makes you feel lonely. Loneliness is having other people and society and community around you, and having a deep sense of being excluded from them. To feel lonely, we need other people.
• One tries to get rid of one's feeling of inferiority, and keep moving forward. One's never satisfied with one's present situation--even if it's just a single step, one wants to make progress. One wants to be happier. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the state of this kind of feeling of inferiority. There are, however, people who lose courage to take a single step forward, and who cannot accept the fact that the situation can be changed by making realistic efforts. People who, before even doing anything, simply give up and say things like, "I'm not good enough anyway," or "Even if I tried, I wouldn't stand a chance."
- Don't mix up the concepts of 'feeling of inferiority' and 'inferiority complex'. The former is a trigger for striving and growth, leading to a desirable direction. The latter refers to a condition of having begun to use one's feeling of inferiority as a kind of excuse.
- When one thinks to oneself, "I'm not well educated, so I can't succeed" or "I am not good looking so I can't get married," when someone is insisting on the logic of 'A is the situation, so B cannot be done' in such a way in everyday life, that is inferiority complex.
• It's simply that it's scary to take even one step forward; also that you don't want to make realistic efforts. You don't want to change so much that you'd be willing to sacrifice the pleasures you enjoy now--for instance, the time you spend playing and engaged in hobbies. In other words, you're not equipped with the courage to change your lifestyle. It's easier with things just as they are now, even if you have some complaints or limitations.
• Those who make themselves bigger on borrowed power are essentially living according to other people's value systems--they are living other people's lives.
• Those who go so far as to boast about things out loud actually have no confidence in themselves.
• If one really has confidence in oneself, one doesn't feel the need to boast. It's because one's feeling of inferiority is strong that one boasts. One feels the need to flaunt one's superiority all the more. There's the fear that if one doesn't do that, not a single person will accept one 'the way I am'. (Full-blown superiority complex lol)
• Completely understanding the feelings of the person who is suffering is something that no one is capable of. But as long as one continues to use one's misfortune to one's advantage in order to be 'special', one will always need that misfortune.
• A healthy feeling of inferiority is not something that comes from comparing oneself to others, but from one's comparison with one's ideal self.
•This is what is so terrifying about competition. Even if you're not a loser, even if you're someone who keeps on winning, if you are someone who has placed himself in competition, you will never have a moment's peace.
• However, once one is released from the schema of competition, the need to triumph over someone disappears. One is also released from the fear that says, "Maybe I will lose." And one becomes able to celebrate other people's happiness with all one's heart. One may become able to contribute actively to other people's happiness. The person who always has the will to help another in times of need--that is someone who may properly be called your comrade.
• Let's say you and a friend have been discussing the current political situation. Before long, it turns into a heated argument, and neither of you is willing to accept any differences of opinion until finally it reaches the point where he starts engaging in personal attacks--that you're stupid, and it's because of people like you that this country doesn't change; that sort of thing.
In this case, what is the other person's goal? Is it only that he wants to discuss politics? No, it isn't. It's that he finds you unbearable and he wants to criticise and provoke you, and make you submit through a power struggle. If you get angry at this point, the moment he has been anticipating will arrive, and the relationship will suddenly turn into a power struggle. No matter what the provocation, you must not get taken in.
•Once the interpersonal relationship reaches the revenge stage, it is almost impossible for either party to find a solution. To prevent this from happening, when one is challenged to a power struggle, one must never allow oneself to be taken in.
• Youth: "Then what should you do when you're subjected to personal attacks right to your face? Do you just grin and bear it?"
Philosopher: "No, the idea that you are 'bearing it' is proof that you are still stuck in the power struggle. When you are challenged to a fight, and you sense that it is a power struggle, step down from the conflict as soon as possible. Do not answer his action with a reaction. That is the only thing we can do."
Youth: "But is it really that easy to not respond to provocation? In the first place, how would you say I should control my anger?"
Philosopher: "When you control your anger, you're 'bearing it' right? Instead, let's learn a way to settle things without using the emotion of anger. Because after all, anger is a tool. A means for achieving a goal."
• Anger is a form of communication, and that communication is nevertheless possible without using anger. We can convey our thoughts and intentions and be accepted without any need for anger. If you learn to understand this experientially (based on experience & observation), the anger emotion will stop appearing, all on its own.
• It's not that you mustn't get get angry, but that there is no need to rely on the tool of anger.
• No matter how much you might think you are right, try not to criticise the other party on that basis. The moment one is convinced that 'I am right' in an interpersonal relationship, one has already stepped into a power struggle.
• The conviction that 'I am right' leads to the assumption that 'this person is wrong', and finally it becomes a contest and you are thinking, 'I have to win.' It's a power struggle through and through.
• The rightness of one's assertations has nothing to do with winning or losing. If you think you are right, regardless of what other people's opinions might be, the matter should be closed then and there. However, many people will rush into a power struggle, and try to make others submit to them. And that is why they think of 'admitting a mistake' as 'admitting defeat'.
• Admitting mistakes, conveying words of apology, and stepping down from power struggles--none of these things is defeat. The pursuit of superiority is not something that is carried out through competition with other people.
• Youth: "So when you're hung up on winning and losing, you lose the ability to make the right choices?"
Philosopher: "Yes. It clouds your judgement, and all you can see is imminent victory or defeat. Then you turn down the wrong path. It's only when we take away the lenses of competition and winning and losing that we can begin to correct and change ourselves."
• One can be in a calm and quite natural state, without having feelings of inferiority or being beset with the need to flaunt one's superiority. That is what real love is like.
• You must not run away. No matter how distressful the relationship, you must not avoid or put off dealing with it. Even if in the end you're going to cut it with scissors, first you have to face it. The worst thing to do is just stand still with the situation as it is. It is fundamentally impossible for a person to live life completely alone, and it is only in social contexts that the person becomes an 'individual'.
• Philosopher: "In relationships between lovers or married couples, there are times when, after a certain point, one becomes exasperated with everything one's partner says or does. For instance, she doesn't care for the way he eats; his slovenly appearance at home fills her with revulsion, and even his snoring sets her off. Even though until a few months ago, none of it had ever bothered her before.
The person feels this way because at some stage she has resolved to herself, 'I want to end this relationship, and she has been looking around for the material with which to end it. The other person hasn't changed at all.' It is her own goal that has changed.
Look, people are extremely selfish creatures who are capable of finding any number of flaws and shortcomings in others whenever the mood strikes them. A man of perfect character could come along, and one would have no difficulty in digging up some reason to dislike him. That's exactly why the world can become a perilous place at any time, and it's always possible to see everyone as one's enemies."
- Adler indicated the state of coming up with all manner of pretexts in order to avoid the life tasks as 'life-lie'. One shifts one's responsibility for the situation one is currently in to someone else. One is running away from one's life tasks by saying that everything is the fault of other people, or the fault of one's environment.
- Life tasks refers to the 3 tasks of work, friendship and love; the tasks of the interpersonal relationships that a living person has no choice but to confront.
This concludes a super long Chapter 2 summary.

Blight’s Back Story
Im just gonna add this little thing for @ichiro-artosaki bcuz for reasons. But yeah. Here you go fam ama go sleep. But honestly dont bother reading it if you find it boring cuz honestly its so god damn long.
The origin of who Archer Reynolds, aka Blight, is, begins way before he was even born, and begin with the history of another man, Arthur Reynolds, who would not only become his father... but also his creator.
Arthur Reynolds was a renown genius in the field of genetics. He attended one of the most prestigious univerisites and advances various studies and researches in said fields, greatly contributing to the history of mankind in both medical and scientific ways. The world expected so much of the young genius, that it was a baffling mystery to everyone when he chose to not persue any type of career upon graduating as top of his class, yet the answer was simple. The man wanted nothing more than to accomplish his one and only the goal, the reason he persued genetic so much: To engineer the perfect human being.
As the young student lay dormant inside his tent, he was awoken by the sound of a heavy explosion in the distance, as a bright light filled the dark sky for a small moment. The scientist rushed over, to find a meteor at the location of impact, a finding he would take with him to his lab for analyzing. Upon further studies he’d discover something that he’d imagine would help him reach his goal even faster than he could have imagined: a virus. Of alien origin, the organism was primitive, yet complext and violent. Small, but with great potential, held back only by the lack of resources. The virus had two simple things in mind: Survive, and Expand... And from what Arthur had observed he had certainly done well to survive, being able to remain alive in the vast void of space. He knew, that this what exactly what he needed in order to reach his goals, but the virus was too aggressive, consuming everything it came into contact. He knew that if he was to experiment with it, to engineer the perfect human, he needed a lab rat. If he died, so would his research, along with hopes and dreams. He needed something... someone, who he could take risks on, but also someone who shared his genes, so that he could pick up if the worst came to happen. The logical choice? An heir. A son.
The man was dead set on creating an heir, and being a genetics nerd, he wouldn’t be satisfied with nothing but the best woman to carry his child and pass on the genes. Not only would the child have to be strong physically, he also needed to have a big gene pool, and various variables came into play... but as time and luck would have it, Arthur would eventually find the perfect woman for the job. A carefree young lady, beautiful with golden curly hair, blue eyes, and delicate smooth skin. Surely, someone like her would never want to concieve a child, especially at her young age, even if it was from a rather handsome man, however Arthur gave her an offer she’d find hard to turn down. He offered her a hefty amount of money, in exchange for her uterus. He’d give her enough money so she could give grandly for the rest of her life, and in exchange all she had to do was carry his child for 9 months. The temptation was far too great... and so, she gave in. During her pregnancy though, she suffered through what she would consider her personal hell. Not only was carrying a child tougher than it sounded, she also couldn’t do anything of the things she liked such as dance or drink or smoke, plus Arthur was extremely strict with her diets, and took extreme care of her, something she’d eventually grow attached to, as she found it tender. Time passed, and ever so slightly feelings arose between the two, who spent time together nearly 24/7. At the end of the 9 months, love had been born, and like an ember, it had been kindled into a growing flame. The notion of plans, goals, and deals, long gone before the anticipation of searching for names, guessing the gender, looking for clothes, and all the notions the came with the birth of a baby.
However that wasn’t the end...
Five long years passed, and the young child had grown into a small boy, who the couple, now married, decided to name Archer. But on a fateful night, Arthur was greeted by a fateful nightmare, one where he saw himself, sitting amongst the dark, as his vision for the future had been clouded, his goals long gone before something as idiotic as chemicals and something so primitive like the need to procreate and reproduce. He was a joke to all the greatest scientist to have ever existed. He awoke determined, readied to make his wrongs right, and set back onto the path that was best for humanity.
Around the time Archer reached six years of age, Arthur aproached his wife. ‘We’ll be leaving for a camping trip dear’, he’d explain. Something about Archer becoming a man now, and how it was special bonding between the two. The oblivious mother happily agreed that it was something they should do, and saw the two off, as they drove away, awaiting for their safe return
‘Did you have fun with daddy on your camping trip?’ his mother would ask. ‘I... don’t know...’ Archer would reply confused. At the end of every month, for five days would Arthur take out Archer on their camping trips, and every time his mother would ask, the small boy would reply with the same. ‘I don’t know’ he would say. This went on for an entire year before the sudden dissapearance of Arthur, leaving Archer’s mother devastated, and young Archer without a father for the rest of his life.
The reality of these camping trips were much more darker than what one could imagine. In reality, these trips were, simply put, trips to Arthur’s private lab, where he’d run tests on his son, finally begining to advance onwards towards the goals he so much desired. Through this he figured out that virus inflicted a great amount of pain upon it’s host, and that in order for him to fully implement the pathogen onto it’s host, the victim would have to remain conscious in order to not be completely overtaken by the now symbiote. It was at this point that Professor’s work turned dark, as he was blinded by his own greedy goals.
He begun “catering” his own son to get assimilated, not only to the symbiote, but also... to pain. Each month young Archer would have to endure countless amount of jolts, as his father continued to remind him that this was for the greater good, for the best of humanity, and to be strong and make his daddy proud. He tried, god knows the poor small child, barely even able to comprehend wh his beloved father would make him go through such hell, tried. As much as his little body allowed him, he’d withstand jolts of electricity, burns to the skin, cuts and tearing... all for the sake of his father. Trying to make him proud... but it all proved too much for him, so much that he couldn’t make it past the 3rd day, and he’d run away from his father. Arthur knew, that he needed more time, that just one trip wasn’t enough... so he had to keep Archer quiet, and the safest way to do this? Drugs. A special drug that erased the toddler’s memory, but it’s side effects still unkown. For a whole year Arthur was able to keep this farce up, this horrible secret, to the point where young Archer’s tolerance to pain and physical trauma, was perfect to begin the experiments Arthur had longed for...
The small child, laid against an inclined metal table, held down by the wrists and ankles thanks to metal cuffs, much like a prisoner. His kidnapper? His own father. The man approaches him, carrying a petri dish with a small black smudge on. As soon as the kid spots the dish, his eyes widened, tears accumulating on the corner of his eyes, as he violently begins shaking trying to break free to no avail. He shouts and begs for his father to stop, pleading, calling out for his mother to come save him, But she won’t come. No one will. The man gently passes his hand through the boy’s hair, trying to calm him down, yet an air of hypocresy clung around him. The boy can’t do nothing but watch, as the man takes the small flakey substance from the dish using special pincers and begins bringing it closer towards the flesh of his skin. The young victim at this point is practically paralyzed with fear, his eyes fixated on the man’s slowly moving hand... until the tweezers pressed the thing the boy feared so much against the back of his wrist.
His shouts echo through the entire room as the scientist steps back to watch the horrible scene, taking mental notes of what’s happening, while a video camera records the ominous event, ever so silently watching like an omnipotent presence that is unable to interfere with the ongoing events. The boy tries so desperately to break free, that the cuffs begin cutting his delicate skin, and the dark matter that was pressed against his flesh, begins spreading steadily. An eternity passes in the following minutes, and although the child has stopped moving vigorously, his body still twitches, his small shrill voice now hoarse and tired from all the screaming, yet still shouting, begging for relief, his eyes swollen and red, dry and out of tears... and his arm... Oh god his arm. Black. Dark. Glowing red veins visible through it, pulsating like a hearbeat, and oozing out black tar, with the consistency of oil. A siren starts going off, the scientist turns his back on his subject, heavily focused on the computer. The experiment was a failure, the virus proved to be too agressive. His ideal result was to force the virus into a symbiotic relationship, instead, it desperately try to take control of its host.
The Professor takes out a key from the pocket in his labcoat, jams it into the control pannel in front of him, and a red button pops out. He considers for a small while whether to press it or not, as he eyes the decreasing vital signals on a far away monitor, showing that his own son is dying. He doubts. The he presses it, as the metal table the poor kid rested on, was lowered, an opening on the floor widening, revealing a pool of strange liquid in which the barely conscious child is submerged into. He gargles for a while, bubbles blowing up into the surface of the liquid, as he struggles to breath, a sizzling sound and steam coming from his arm. Soon... he gives in, his struggle ends, and his body becomes limp. At this point the table once again rises, returning to it’s original level, and the hole in the ground closes, as the scientist approaches his experiment. He uses the same tweezers to take the dark matter from his son’s arm, now restored back to normal, and places it back on the dish, before turning back and entering a large white room with a huge mycroscope in the center. The cuffs on the boys limbs loosen, and open up... and much to anyone’s surprise, his eyes slowly open, as his head shift towards the huge glass door where he could see his father observing something so intently. Then... something inpredictacle happens.
A burst of dark from the petri dish. The grown man now lays on the floor. The boy struggles to get on his feet, quickly falling down, as he crawls towards the glass door and uses it as support and finally manages to stand, his small palm against the glass. The man laying on the floor, his back towards the kid. He trembles for a bit, before he suddenly twitches into another position, letting out an extreme scream. He looks towards the glass door, the skin around his left eye revealing to be the same tone as the boy’s arm was a while ago. He tries to get up but quickly falls on all for, as he grunts in pain, and tries to drag himself towards the exit of the room. He tries pushing it open, desperately trying to get himself into the liquid he had submerged his patient priorly... However the door doesn’t budged. His pupils widened, as he slowly and heavily raises his head, to meet eyes with his own son. With this small... frail... and young little boy. He begs for him to open the door, but his stare is indifirent, his expression frozen and uncaring at the sight of the agonizing main writhing in pain. Nothing changes on him. As the man bangs his fist against the glass, the dark pigment on his skin spreading now across his entire face and down his neck.
Now he, much like the boy, and much like a baby, begged for mercy, begged to be let out, to be saved. Yet the boy stood there, staring. Silently, as the muffled screams of his father reached his ears, his banging against the door growing stronger by the minute, and the grip of his fist so tight, that blood trickled down his wrist. The pain was unbearable, he wanted to scratch away his own skin, in hope that it would soothe his agony, yet all he could manage was nothing but beg... and as he looked once more at his young boy... he saw... how his lips curled... into a perfect and sadistic smile. Right there, in front of him, his hand against the glass. Enjoying every single moment of the man’s torture...
Days later, Archer was finally found, unconcious by the side of a highway in the middle of nowhere. It was assumed he walked there after he was kidnapped, however his father was nowehere to be found, never to be heard of. As for the child? His memory was completely gone. Hardly could even tell who he was, and recognize his mother. Amnesia, the doctors said, and with no evidence to follow, the case was soon closed, and the scientist Arthur Raynolds soon forgotten... to all but one person.
